In this year’s edition of R.B.I. Baseball, fans can expect more MLB authenticity through newly added animations, more gear options including more variety with bats, elbow guards and compression sleeves that are specific to every player, every official 2019 uniform and some new twists to make for an even more exciting experience. Future managers will be excited to see a ton of expansions to our rosters. Our “New Player” option allows fans to easily see the new MLB players that can be added to their player pool. Not to mention players can expect weekly roster & stats updates throughout the regular season starting on Opening Day.

In addition, players will be pleased to see that we completely expanded our Home Run Derby mode. In 2018, when the Home Run Derby mode was first introduced, players were limited to only playing as one the 8 Home Run Derby contestants and the All-Star Game ballpark for that year. In R.B.I. 19 players can now pick any MLB player, ballpark and customize their bracket for the ultimate Home Run Derby showdown!

New to the game? Need some pointers? Here are a couple to get you started.

For starters, its baseball – don’t swing at bad pitches and you can check your swing by quickly tapping the swing button if an easy to hit pitch ends up being a curve ball! Down and Swing, with the proper timing will yield more home runs. Up and swing will result in more grounders.

For pitching, hitting Up and the Pitch button will yield a slower pitch, that depending on the pitcher the ball may hit the ground right in front of the plate. Don’t be scared to throw that heat by holding Down and the Pitch Button to yield a fastball.

Xbox One Exclusive Operencia Coming March 29, Pre-order Today

If you follow Xbox Wire, you might have heard about our new dungeon-crawler RPG, Operencia: The Stolen Sun coming exclusively to Xbox — and yes, that includes Xbox Game Pass! It is my pleasure to tell you that you’ll be able to embark on your quest starting March 29.

Operencia will be present at GDC 2019, so keep an eye out between March 18-22 to read first impressions about the game from your favorite gaming outlets. Wait, what’s that? You’re more of a hands-on person? We’ve got you covered. Visit us at the Xbox booth at PAX East at the end of this month to try the game and maybe leave with some exclusive swag! You can also catch a live stream on Thursay, March 14 from 11am PST – 12pm PST on Mixer.com/Xbox and Twitch.tv/Xbox.

As we prepare for launch, we invite you to join Jóska, your completely honest — and in no way untrustworthy — new ally in our story trailer above. You have plenty of catching up to do, so let the scoundrel turned reluctant hero fill you in.

Operencia

Operencia

The Sun King of Operencia provided radiance and light for all the land for centuries — but he’s vanished! And with him, all hope for the future of humanity. It’s your job — dare we say destiny — to get him back before everything withers and the land succumbs to darkness. This journey will lead you through places right out of Central European legends, like cursed castles, deep dungeons, and even a glimmering copper forest, as you desperately pursue the crumbs that lead to the Sun King, Napkirály.

Okay, this might be too much to put only on your shoulders. Don’t worry — you won’t be alone. You already know Jóska, and plenty of companions will join you to share that burden. For example, Mezey, a young and idealistic — maybe a bit naive — knight with a sense of purpose and a need to prove himself. Or Sebastian, a veteran warrior willing to do anything for his beliefs — maybe a bit too much if you ask Jóska… You’ll meet others along the way, such as an actual star walking the world in human-like form, a stonemason plagued by the burdens of her past, or even a member of the last members of the táltos order, shamans and witch doctors to Hungarian tribes of old.

And of course, there’s you, the youngest child of a humble farmer, who left the homestead literally following your dreams. Care to lead the way?

Operencia: The Stolen Sun arrives March 29 on the Xbox One family of the devices, Xbox One X Enhanced and with Xbox Game Pass. Keep up with game at OperenciaRPG.com and follow @OperenciaRPG through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Warframe’s New Rogue Radio Host Nora Night Introduces Nightwave

The Warframe dev team, always passionately intent on keeping its game interesting and ever-changing, has introduced something it’s never done. We’re delivering a new way to earn rewards while playing Warframe with a single, powerful broadcast.

If you have been playing over the last week or two, you may have heard a new voice interspersed between the mix of Lotus and Ordis chatter in your Orbiter. That smooth, convincing voice that suddenly appears out of nowhere? That’s Nora Night, the rogue host who runs the pirate radio broadcast, “Nightwave”.

“Hey there, Dreamers. You hearin’ me? I know you are. No need to say anythin’. A hand in yours, a voice for the speechless, a bedtime story for the sleepless. The name’s Nora Night, and I got somethin’ to say, sweet things. Nightwave is coming.” — Nora Night

Nora is the eyes and ears of the Origin System and her anti-authority voice and conscience-searing messages aren’t just talk. She’s offering new challenges, new stories to unravel, and unlockable time-limited exclusive rewards, be they cosmetic or power-based. Last week, playable on Xbox One (among other platforms), we introduced the first of many broadcasts with “Nightwave: Series 1 — The Wolf of Saturn Six”. In this debut Series, a savage and unruly convict has escaped from captivity. Now he’s out there, freely prowling the Origin System. Mark the frequency, Tenno — this is one story you need to hear.

In each Nightwave Series, you’ll earn Standing by completing daily and weekly Acts with Nora to rise through the Reward Tiers and unlock power items, exclusive cosmetics or currency called Wolf Cred. Each tier contains unique, never-offered-before rewards and we strongly encourage you to unlock all 30 tiers before each series ends, so you don’t miss out!

This is an amazing time to log into Warframe because of the availability of these exclusive rewards. They include highly sought-after Power items such as a Warframe slot, Weapon slots, Umbra Forma, Forma Bundles, Orokin Catalysts, and exclusive Cosmetics, like Armor, Sigils, a Syandana, and more.

Some of the unique rewards available in “The Wolf of Saturn Six” include:

  • Saturn Six Armor Bundle (Tier 30): The signature battle armor of the only lunatic fearsome enough to have escaped the Saturn Six Max-Pen.
  • Umbra Forma (Tier 29): Applies the Umbra polarity to any Warframe or Weapon.
  • Wolf Howl Emote (Tier 26): Summon the pack with this exclusive emote.
  • Two Weapon Slots (Tier 4): Adds two weapon Inventory slots.

For those wondering about the previous Alert System, by visiting the Nightwave Cred Offerings, you can still acquire the former Alert System Rewards you want the most! Examples here include Nitain Extract, Weapon and Helmet Blueprints, Catalysts, Reactors and rare Aura Mods. Earn up to 300 Wolf Cred by completing daily and weekly Acts, and even more with Prestige once you rise past Tier 30! Wolf Cred must be redeemed before the Series is over or sold for credits, so use them before the frequency is lost.

Nightwave: Series 1 is really just the tip of the iceberg. We think you’re going to love it — we hope you try it, and we’d love to hear what you think! Talk to us on our forums, and check in with us on our various Twitch streams. If you like Nightwave, we have plenty more characters, events and rewards coming this year. Nora is just getting started!

“An echo. From long ago: ‘For ten years I have been polishing this sword. It’s frosty edge has never been put to the test. Now, I am holding it and showing it to you, sir: Is there anyone suffering from injustice?’ Keep livin’, Dreamers.” — Nora Night

From a Basic Shack to a Complex Fortress, Homestead Continues to Evolve ARK’s Way of Life

Building and taming in ARK: Survival Evolved are some of its most well-loved features. Today, we are thrilled to make building and taming an even more creative experience by bringing the Homestead update to Xbox players! Homestead is a free update to ARK that vastly improves pre-existing structures and their placement options, as well as offering a myriad of additional pieces to utilize in any way your imagination can conjur. Triangle floors, half walls, angled pieces and much more provides players a whole other level in creative potential. Every building made from beginning to end can now look as unique as its builder. Homestead also delivers a complete rework of our existing Kibble system (the most efficient way to tame creatures) to be even more user and server friendly.

Originally known as Structures Plus (S+), Homestead began as a player created Sponsored mod by Orionsun and was chosen to be officially added to the ARK base game itself. Integrating such a game-changing and mechanic-altering mod into ARK was not an easy task. We divided the mod’s many features into categories, as some of the features would not be suitable for our official server environment. Once we had a feature list to work from we slowly began integrating these changes into the game, starting with the ability for players to pick up structure pieces after placing them for a short period of time. We were careful to ensure the preservation of player’s existing buildings while adding all new snap points, alternate versions to structure pieces, and entirely new structure pieces. These new options allow triangular building, stairs, ramps, reworked pipes and cables, and much much more!

Reworking the Kibble system required a careful eye and lots of iteration. Previously the Kibble system worked like a tree, the egg of one creature being used in a kibble to tame the next creature in line. Often these kibbles didn’t make sense in terms of game progression and became more redundant with each new creature. It also meant that many of the same egg-laying creatures were required to collect enough kibble for the purpose of taming. We first introduced this new Kibble system in the ARK: Extinction expansion and now we have completely rebuilt it from the ground up to be simplified across all ARK content. Each creature now falls into one of six categories, and that creature’s egg can be used to tame any creature within that specific category. Instead of having 50+ different kibbles all requiring a different specific egg, it is drastically reduced to: Basic, Simple, Regular, Superior, Exceptional, and Extraordinary kibbles.

Alongside a lengthy and thorough iteration process with our internal quality assurance team this Homestead update is the first time we’ve utilized a public beta process. We know this live testing was important due to the game-changing mechanics at the core of the game. We also believe it will provide a greater level of satisfaction to all players and result in fewer issues as the update reaches the live game. We are particularly excited to bring Homestead to Xbox players, who will be able to utilize these changes and features for the very first time!

We invite you to watch our Homestead trailer to see the variety of structures that are now possible. All of the builds featured in the trailer are player-created. It has been an amazing experience for us to see our dedicated players create things we could have never imagined! We hope these changes to ARK: Survival Evolved inspire players to turn their wooden shack on the beach into the fortress of their dreams.

Deep Rock Galactic Celebrates a Rock Solid Year on Xbox Game Preview

Today marks one year since Deep Rock Galactic, our co-op first, dwarven mining space shooter, launched as a console exclusive on Xbox Game Preview. Developing Deep Rock Galactic alongside our community has been, and continues to be a truly awesome experience  and we have to thank each and every miner who has joined the initiative this past year. I wanted to take this opportunity to look back at our first year on the platform, update you on today’s in-game festivities, and give an insight into our experience working on Deep Rock in open development.

To celebrate our first birthday, we’ve released an update that encourages all of our space mining dwarves to let loose and party on the Space Rig, the homebase for all personnel currently in the service of Deep Rock Galactic. We’ve decorated the Space Rig with festive dressing, introduced a time-limited one-year celebration hat to the Gear Shop and called for an all day long happy hour in the Abyss Bar, meaning all beverages are half price! Outside of our one-year celebrations, the update also introduces weekly assignments where miners can earn hefty bonuses in credits and minerals, and 13 new items of stylish headgear. Today’s festive update marks the 22nd update we’ve introduced into Deep Rock Galactic since alpha testing began.

We’ve been constantly introducing regular updates to Deep Rock Galactic that have brought new biomes, new monsters, new weapons and tech, new game modes and endless technical improvements to continue refining the game. From day one we’ve worked extremely closely and transparently with our community to deliver the game developments and content that they want to see. We’ve never wanted anyone on the team to feel like should hide anything from the community so we don’t have any kind of approval process for social posts etc. as we want our players to know they’re part of the production.

As well as being constantly engaged with the Deep Rock Galactic community, we also have more systematic ways of gathering player feedback that helps make sure we’re not missing anything. We have an in-game survey that players can fill out, and we’re also beginning to do on-site testing to monitor the experiences of new miners, and we monitor reddit and other social channels very closely. When we release a new build, we often join random games with a Dev-tag inside the game and talk to players directly, so keep an eye out for us!

Whilst open development has been an amazing system for us, it does present challenges. Being in constant communication with your community takes time, and whilst it’s absolutely worth it, we could have done with a dedicated Community Manager early on. We also need to ensure we have a constant stream of assets that we can release with immediacy as updates happen to keep the community engaged. It can also be tricky to do larger system/feature updates, we prefer to integrate smaller updates to be released every 3-6 weeks to maintain visibility and feedback.

Outside of constant feedback, our approach to open development has also meant we’ve built an amazing network of die-hard fans who act as spokesdwarves for Deep Rock Galactic. Our players know they’re being listened to and can have a direct impact on the development of the game which builds very high levels of trust. This has also come with some amazing opportunities, our QA is partly done by the community and we’ve also used community-driven localizations from fans passionate about making Deep Rock accessible to their region. Having our community play such an integral and continuous part of development is also a constant morale booster to the team through positive engagement on social media.

We’re so proud of what we’ve achieved this past year with Deep Rock Galactic, and open development has meant we’ve been able to work collaboratively and transparently with our community to keep improving the game. We still have a lot that we want to deliver, and we’re so excited to keep building Deep Rock Galactic together in the run-up to full release.

Hopefully see you for half price drinks at the Abyss Bar!

Everything You Need to Know About This Weekend’s Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Open Beta

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is one of the year’s most anticipated games, and the more we see of the upcoming action-packed RPG, the more excited I am to play through it. I recently had the chance to spend a good chunk of quality time with the new-and-improved Dark Zone offerings, and while they were a ton of fun, I had a hankering for a taste of the looter shooter’s main campaign. Thankfully, those desires were fulfilled when I spent the better part of a day at an event in San Francisco a couple weeks ago getting my hands on a bunch of the early game content that will be in this weekend’s Open Beta.  Let’s take a closer look at what you can expect when you dive in.

Wait, did you say that there’s beta?

I did! The Division 2 Open Beta will include both early game and endgame missions, and will run from March 1 at 1AM PT through March 4 at 1AM PT. Grab it now!

Where does the beta start?

The first mission I played, called “The Dawn’s Early Light”, takes place immediately after the prologue and tasked me with taking back The White House. Yes, THAT White House. Just as the New York City Post Office was your base of operations in the first game, The White House serves as your main hub in The Division 2. When you’re there, you can upgrade your character, mod and build weapons, check on the progress of your settlements, and generally make sure you’re ready to take on the game’s many factions.

TCTD2 Beta Inline 1

TCTD2 Beta Inline 1

There are settlements now? What’s the deal with those?

Indeed there are! In fact, the first story mission I was given after taking back the Oval Office found me heading to the Theater district to meet with Odessa Sawyer, the leader of the Theater Settlement. This is a brand-new addition to the series, and settlements look to add some really interesting mechanics to aid you in taking back the city. In addition to helping drive the story forward, in the settlements you can find side missions and meet new characters (for example, in the Theater settlement you’ll find Inaya, who moves to the White House to become your weapons crafter).

Once you’ve located a settlement, you’ll be given access to Goal Projects that can help you improve them and the lives of everyone inside. These projects include doing things like donating steel, donating armor, stopping public executions, and neutralizing hostile. In The Division 2, you’re a so-called “Agent of Change” that can truly make your mark on the denizens of Washington D.C. More than anything, settlements feel very alive: there are public markets, people playing guitar, and lots of dialogue to eavesdrop on, which goes a long way in fleshing out an already deep story.

So what’s up with the factions? Have those changed from the first game?

In The Division, different factions were tearing the city apart in separate quests for control. They were interesting, but felt largely interchangeable. That’s not the case here. Now, the game’s three factions (The Hyenas, The Outcasts, and The True Sons) are driven by goals more detailed than just killing everyone who gets in their way. If they manage to complete their goals and set up strongholds, whether it’s training recruits or gathering supplies, they will begin to undertake objectives that fundamentally change the city for the worse. This includes stuff like taking over radio towers to spread propaganda and setting up checkpoints to capture and execute civilians. I can’t wait to dive deeper into how both the faction and the settlement mechanics work when the final game releases next month.

Are there side missions or open-world activities in the beta?

Are there ever! In addition to the couple of main missions available in the beta, there will be five side missions available that will find you traipsing around Washington’s most famous locales, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Library and the Grand Hotel. You can even channel your inner Nic Cage and rescue the Declaration of Independence from the National Archives!

TCTD2 Beta Inline 2

TCTD2 Beta Inline 2

If you want to take a look at some of the open-world activities, you’ll be able to try your hand at taking back a Control Point, which tasks you and your squadmates (trust me, you’ll want to bring friends for this) with surviving multiple waves of increasingly tougher enemies in order to unlock a supply room. These rooms replenish with supplies every couple of hours and coming in very handy when it comes to improving the White House or any settlements you’ve found.

As was the case in the first game, there are also Safe Houses that you can find, which will help to unlock the local map, helping you find supply caches and Control Points that might be nearby. They also come in very handy when you want to fast travel.

How about that sweet, sweet gear that was in the first game?

It wouldn’t be a Tom Clancy game without some awesome high-tech gear, and The Division 2 delivers in a big way. In addition to lots of weapon and armor drops, you’ll unlock skills that can be used in combat to take down your enemies or support your squadmates. Turrets have returned, with Assault and Sniper variants available in the early part of the game. Seeker mines are back too, and you can choose between Explosives and Airbursts. There are also drones this time out, which will allow you to repair teammates’ armors, as well as act as a bombardier to drop bombs between two points you can set.

Best of all, there’s a much greater degree of control in The Division 2, as you can now tell your turrets or seeker mines which enemies to target. This allows you, for example, to suppress a dug-in enemy with your turret while you move to flank them from the side.

Did you say that there’s endgame content too?

There sure is! The Division 2 Open Beta players will have the opportunity to go hands-on with endgame content with one Invaded mission (the ones we played were set in the Air & Space Museum and an abandoned Cold War-era bunker). Players will experience gameplay at the level cap of 30 and unlock the brand-new Survivalist, Sharpshooter or Demolitionist specializations.

The Division 2

The Division 2

In a bit of a narrative twist, a new faction called the Black Tusks are introduced in the endgame. These enemies will be much tougher and more technologically advanced than the other factions and will require a full fireteam to take down. This is all part of Ubisoft’s ambitious goals for the endgame content, which will also feature new 8 player raids (!!!), three new episodes, and three new specializations, in addition to everything that was added to the first game after launch. Best of all, every single bit of content will be completely free!

What else is in the Open Beta?

In case you haven’t figured it out already, you should know that there’s a ton of content here. In addition to the early game and endgame, single-player and cooperative content, you’ll have the chance to check out the unique PvPvE gameplay in one of the three new Dark Zones we took a look at a few weeks ago. There’s also a taste of the new organized PvP gameplay in one Conflict mode, Skirmish. There’s definitely lots of content to keep you busy throughout the beta period!

We’ll be bringing you more on Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 soon in anticipation of its March 15 release date on Xbox One.

Fear the Rats in A Plague Tale: Innocence, Pre-order Today on Xbox One

Bringing together a deep narrative and an incredible rendition of war-torn, plague-ridden 14th century France, A Plague Tale: Innocence tells the grim tale of young Amicia and her little brother Hugo in a third-person adventure through medieval times. Today we are celebrating the launch of pre-orders on Xbox One so please pick it up and experience our new, original IP in just a few months – we hope that you will enjoy the journey as much as we enjoyed crafting it.

This first solo effort is a project very close to our heart at Asobo Studio, telling the story of a young group of children dealing with the harsh realities of medieval life as the black death and war ravage the country of France. As siblings Amicia and Hugo cope with life on the run, hunted by the Inquisition and endlessly avoiding the rat plague pouring from every hole in the Earth and unattended building, they grow with each other. Follow their journey and keep them safe.

While they are not hardened soldiers, Amicia’s training as a hunter by her father and noble upbringing gives her a steely approach to the horrors around her. Her brother is much younger, and his bravery comes mostly through naivete and inexperience. An isolated childhood and mysterious illness make him vulnerable and scared but fascinated by his surroundings. The siblings will work together to survive, no matter the cost.

They are joined by a colorful cast of orphans, misfits, survivors, thieves, and much more. With the worst the Inquisition has to offer hounding them and the English army invading on top of the effects of disease, allies come in every shape and size. Not everyone will be kept safe.

You can pre-order today to receive alternative outfits and coats of arms for Amicia and Hugo, as well as being ready to jump in as soon as launch day arrives. Asobo can’t wait to share their story with you and the world. This heart pounding, emotional tale comes to Xbox One on May 14.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is available for pre-order today on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One. Click here for pre-order details.
