Wizard Of Legend Will Bring Its Roguelike Magic To Switch On 15th May

“We’re excited to announce that Wizard of Legend will be available across all platforms on May 15, 2018!” commented Contingent99 on the game’s official Kickstarter page. “It’s been quite a journey and we can’t thank everyone enough for helping us make this a reality. Pop Star Agency Sim Idol Manager Could Make It To Switch If Its Kickstarter Hits $50K

Nintendo Switch has plenty of genres and subgenres on its books already, but we’ll be honest – the idol management simulator is really under-represented. Well, developer Max Rogozin and his small team are looking to rectify that with Idol Manager.

The occasionally NSFW indie tasks you with looking after a group of Japanese ‘idols’ as you manage internal feuds, secure record deals, record singles and grow your fanbase. It can be quite risque in places, but that hasn’t stopped the team from adding a port for Nintendo Switch if its campaign reaches $50K. It’s currently just under $30K with 35 hours to go, so it’s certainly going to be a tight squeeze but stranger things have happened in the world of crowdfunding.

Check out the Kickstarter campaign video above. Let us know what you make of this ‘unusual’ title. Do you think it would be a good fit for Switch?

Video: Digital Foundry Explores Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze’s Resolution And Frame Rate

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was one of the Wii U’s gaming highlights; the platforming fun was great from start to finish, but it also looked great and played nicely, too. To explore the differences between the WIi U version and the upcoming Switch version, though, and to check for any improvements, the folk at Digital Foundry have been putting the game through some hefty tests.

The video shows that the Switch version is a more polished experience than the game’s first outing, with the Wii U’s native 720p resolution being boosted to 1080p when docked on Nintendo’s latest hardware. The game’s textures appear sharper on Switch, with smaller details being allowed to shine just that little bit more than before. When playing in portable mode, Digital Foundry found the resolution to sit in the area of 1152×648.

Perhaps of greater consequence, however, is the confirmation of a solid 60fps being present with no drops in sight. As always, players may have slightly different experiences as they play through the game, but this analysis saw the framerate stay true in both docked and portable modes. Fantastic stuff.

Will you be grabbing the game on Switch when it launches next week?

Feature: The History And Evolution of Donkey Kong

Few gaming characters have hung around as long as Donkey Kong, and over the years we at NL towers have garnered a healthy respect for the giant, tie-wearing ape. That’s why we decided to throw together a short audio-visual retrospective to take a look at how DK managed to get where he is today.

What’s your favourite entry from the colossal Kong? Let us know in the comments below.

Splatoon-Style Racer Trailblazers Has Cross-Platform Multiplayer, Switch Version Arrives In June

Supergonk’s Trailblazers is shaping up to be quite the speed-fest, mixing Splatoon-style track-painting with anti-grav racing.

It has now been confirmed that the game will showcase cross-platform multiplayer, which means you’ll be able to compete against players on other systems. According to the game’s Steam page, cross-platform play links PC/Mac/Linux players to either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One/Nintendo Switch players. Looks like Sony continues to be a stick in the mud when it comes to this kind of thing.

Update: The other big news is that the game launches on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on May 8th, but we’re been told by publisher Rising Star that the Switch version won’t be available until June.

Video: Sega Invites You To “Get a Load of These Beats” In This New Shining Resonance Refrain Trailer

It’s fair to say that the return of the legendary Shining series to western shores isn’t exactly what we – or many other fans – expected. Shining Resonance Refrain – which is coming to Switch, PS4 and Xbox One on July 11th – feels like a world apart from the turn-based strategy instalments which made the franchise so popular during the ’90s, but we should probably just be grateful that the series has a future at all.

If you’re a little more open-minded than us then you’ll want to check out the latest trailer for the game, which gives a short look at the heroes you’ll be controlling.

Here’s some PR:

First off, we’re introduced to Kirika Towa Alma, the Diva of Nature. She uses her bow to deal damage from a distance while supporting allies with healing magic.

Next, we meet Sonia Blanche, the Lightning Princess. Fierce, yet elegant, she darts across the battlefield with her sword and shield, dealing damage to single targets in quick bursts.

Following Sonia, Agnum Bulletheart, the Pyromaestro makes his appearance. Always aiming to be the center of attention, Agnum deals massive damage to large groups of enemies with explosive fire magic.

Cooling things down after Agnum’s appearance, we have Lestin Sera Alma, the Glacier Sentinel. He uses ice magic to slow down enemies before cleaving through them with his trusty halberd.

Rinna, the Whirlwind Sylph brings some cheer to the party with her lighthearted attitude. She deals heavy damage from the back lines with powerful magic abilities.

Finally, we meet Yuma himself. Armed with the power of the Shining Dragon, he fights with dragon-like ferocity to protect his friends.

Never mind “get a load of these beats” – get a load of these names.

Wolfenstein II On Switch Receives June Release Date And First Official Trailer

Bethesda Softworks has announced that Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will launch on Nintendo Switch on 29th June.

As BJ Blazkowicz, players will experience an action-packed story brought to life by extraordinary characters, reuniting with your friends and fellow freedom fighters as you take on the evil Frau Engel and her Nazi army. The trailer above gives us our first official glimpse of Wolfenstein II running on Switch, so make sure to check it out.

As Texas-based studio Panic Button are handling the port, just like they did with id Software’s DOOM, many have come to expect a similar standard of performance for this game on Switch, too. All we know is that things are looking pretty promising if this trailer is anything to go by, and we were generally impressed when we went hands-on with the game at PAX East this month.

Will you be grabbing this one when it launches at the end of June? Feel free to share your excitement in the comments below.
