Digital Dreams Apologises For “Missing” Teams In Mutant Football League, Will Add To Game As Free DLC

If you’ve been playing Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition on the Nintendo Switch since its release last week, you may or may not have noticed the brutal and bloody American football style game is missing a couple of teams.

This complete edition is meant to include all of the DLC as well as exclusive teams and arenas. Yet somehow, Digital Dreams Entertainment forgot to add in the Purple Mutant Eaters & Hexxon Oilers. The publisher and developer behind the game has now released an apology via Facebook and said this issue will be resolved for North Americans by 9th November, when the two teams are added to the game as free DLC. Unfortunately, Europe is going to have to wait just a little bit longer:

The folks at Digital Dreams Entertainment would like to extend our sincerest apologies to everyone who bought Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition at retail for Nintendo Switch with the Purple Mutant Eaters & Hexxon Oilers teams missing from their game. We have been working hard to correct the issue and are happy to announce it has been resolved and the teams will be released as FREE DLC in the eShop to everyone in USA, Canadaand Mexico (Europe is going to take longer) on November 9 at3pm PST. Once again, we apologize and thank you for your understanding and patience.

Did you purchase this game on release yourself? Did you notice two teams were missing? Have you been enjoying this game so far? Tell us below.

Video: Digital Foundry Takes A Look At Diablo III: Eternal Collection On Nintendo Switch

The folks at Digital Foundry have recently taken a trip to hell and back to find out how Diablo III: Eternal Collection runs on the Nintendo Switch and also how it compares to existing versions of the game. Iron Galaxy’s Switch conversion sits somewhere in between the last generation and current generation versions of the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Described as the “last gen plus” release, the team behind this edition has “done a pretty great job” in terms of the visuals, performance and controls. On the subject of resolution, Blizzard said during a preview build the game sits at around 960p, but apparently docked it’s closer to 900p and in practice is around 1600 x 900 – which could be linked to dynamic resolution. It can also drop to 1344 x 756, making it 70 percent of a full 1080p. Still, it’s not low enough to reach 720p – which happened to be the maximum resolution for the last generation console versions of the game. In portable mode, the game runs at 720p, which is the native screen resolution and can drop down to 960 x 540.

As for visual quality, don’t go expecting bloom effects. Ambient occlusion has also been dialed back and the density of particles has been dropped rather than the resolution. This isn’t all that noticeable in the heat of the action, and applies to both the docked and handheld modes.

The framerate is effectively locked at 60 – which is a massive improvement over last generation versions. In more hectic moments when there is a lot of activity on-screen, the game can drop to as low as 45 frames. Again, this applies to both the handheld and docked modes. This is mainly when there are a lot of enemies on-screen and multiple effects are being used at once. Overall though, “this is a really nice port” according to Digital Foundry. Blizzard along with Iron Galaxy have done a great job.

How has your time been with the Diablo III: Eternal Collection on the Switch been so far? Are you enjoying it? Tell us below.

Publisher Klabater and developer Born Lucky Games tell us that the game “will make Jurassic Park look like some fairytale for kids” thanks to its “deadly battles and vicious enemies”.

The game is described as a fast and furious, old-fashioned approach to the brawler genre, with its gameplay aiming to act as a modern tribute to classic Nintendo-platform brawlers of days gone by. It’s said to feature “terrifying” bosses, 25 types of enemies, and six different islands to explore, with up to four players being able to play together in local multiplayer.

If you’d like a little more info, check out this description and feature list straight from the game’s PR:

“When the aliens arrived, they didn’t come in peace. The invasion was immediate and so overwhelming that humans didn’t stand a chance. One thing it wasn’t though, was quiet… A terrible rumble from upstairs woke Rex up from her slumber. For millennia she was hibernating in his Cozy Cave but the incessant crescendo of the alien invasion was too much to sleep through. It was time for Rex to go upstairs and give her new neighbours a piece of his mind!”

Features:
– Vicious modern take on a classic brawler gameplay
– Tongue-in-cheek story with serious gameplay that’s easy to pick up
– Countless combos, swarms of enemies, 6 towering bosses and one very angry dinosaur!
– 6 different isles to explore from the ruins of human civilization to hazy jungle and frosty Arctic
– The perfect party game with drop-in coop up to 4 players
– A slick retro style with polygons as sharp as Rex’s teeth
– Plenty of Rex variants, each with unique moves and animations. Become a Gentleman Rex than quickly change to Punk Dinosaur or even crazy Ballerina style
– Fully destructible environment that will let you unleash your jurassic power… Roarr!

As mentioned above, Roarr! Jurassic Edition launches today on Nintendo Switch, available for $7.99 / £7.19.

Will you be keeping this one out of the reach of your children? Are you thinking of giving it a cheeky download as we speak? Let us know down below.

The Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle Update You All Asked For Is Now Live

We rather liked the Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle when it launched recently, and our only real complaint was that Capcom had been rather lazy when it came to screen options.

The company obviously took note of play feedback on this matter, as it quickly announced that an update was in the works which would address this issues – and more!

The good news is that the update is now available, and comes with the following fixes:

New Screen Filters – Transport yourself back to the arcades with new scanline/arcade filter options.

New Screen Size
– In addition to the full screen size, there is now the option to display the screen in its original size to fit more types of screens.

ON/OFF Toggle for Mid-session Joining
– When creating a lobby, there is now an option to turn off the ability for other players to join your in-game session.

Let us know what you make of these changes by posting a comment below.

Pokémon GO Caught $73 Million In The Month Of October

In October, Pokémon GO captured an estimated $73 million in gross revenue worldwide. Although it’s not quite as impressive as the cool $84.8 million in the month of September, it’s still a positive development.

Compared to last October, 67 percent more has been spent on the game in the same month this year. This was enough to position it as the seventh highest mobile game in terms of revenue and the eighth highest in terms of revenue for all mobile apps. It even beat out Epic Games’ mobile version of Fortnite.

In terms of player spending, Japan represented 33.2 percent in total sales and the US made up 32.9 percent of sales. 54 percent of player spending was on Google Play devices. Sensor Tower reports GO saw a significant drop in November last year right through until January 2018. We’ll just have to wait and see if history repeats itself, or the surge in spending continues.

Did you play GO in the month of October? Do you still regularly play this game? Tell us below.

Niantic’s Rework Of Ingress Could Make Pokémon GO A Better Game

US software developer Niantic might be best known for Pokémon GO nowadays, but this wasn’t always the case. Before the company shot to fame with its recent mobile sensation, it was focused on its own augmented reality game Ingress. With GO now nearly two-and-a-half years into its lifespan, Niantic has been able to return some of its focus to its own IP. Yesterday, it launched Ingress Prime – a rework of the original game built on lessons from Pokémon GO.

The team at Niantic is now hoping some of the features in the newer version of Ingress can be implemented into GO eventually. According to Eurogamer, one feature that would be appreciated is the new prestige system. Once players hit the level cap in Ingress Prime, they can now roll back to level one and gain unspecified “unique benefits” – with their prestige status also reflected to other players.

Many GO players have hit the level cap (40) as well – especially since the implementation of the friendship system. When asked if the prestige feature was coming to GO, Niantic engineering boss Niniana Wang said certain technologies could be used across every game:

The engineering that goes into those features can then be more easily integrated into each of our games… so when you ask specifically about prestige, some elements of that are very specific to Ingress, in particular the levelling and badges, [but] there’s an amount of technology for features that do get put into libraries that can be used later, and there’s an amount of learning that is then spread throughout our organisation.

Niantic has reiterated time and time again, it’s able to apply its learnings from one game to another. In the case of Ingress Prime, it was able to experiment more freely when working with its own IP. Niantic also hopes to attract more of the hardcore GO crowd to Ingress Prime and will continue to use GO as “the world’s best onboarding tool” for its own game.

Would you like to see a similar prestige system make its way to GO? Have you played Ingress before? Tell us in the comments.

Hellfront: Honeymoon Brings More Twin-Stick Action To Switch Early Next Year

Publisher Thunderful has announced Hellfront: Honeymoon by SkyGoblin is now making its way to the Switch eShop in early 2019. The game was originally scheduled to arrive on Nintendo’s hybrid platform towards the end of this year, following its reveal in August.
