The Multi-Biographical Welcome to Elk is Coming Soon to Xbox One

Sometimes someone tells you a story, a story so good, crazy or weird that it’s hard to believe it actually happened.

We are making a game called Welcome to Elk about these exact stories, but it’s also about the storytellers. We value the importance of storytellers, those who carry the tales of others and share them. The tall tales in the game are real stories told by real people.

Welcome to Elk

That’s why, in Welcome to Elk, you will also meet the living storytellers who inspired us to make this game, like my brother Lauge. He grew up in Denmark but traveled the world and lived in places like Greenland, rural California and many other places that made for good story material!

We have changed the names and places in the real stories, most of them are write-ups from transcripts of Lauge telling the story to the team behind Welcome to Elk (often over more than a few beers).

Welcome to Elk

In the game you will explore a fictional island stitched together with true stories through the eyes of Frigg, a young carpenter trading their busy life in the city for an apprenticeship in a small and extremely isolated town. When she arrives in Elk, Frigg worries the slower pace of life will be boring (they don’t even have the internet), but quickly discovers nothing could be further from the truth!

Besides the many stories, Welcome to Elk also offers different mini-games that go with the adventures – like pouring a beer as a barkeeper, decorating balloons to help a good friend remember what their parents look like, karaoke down memory lane or transporting a frozen body – there is a lot going on!

Welcome to Elk

As you might have guessed by the last point, things in Welcome to Elk are not all sunshine. The stories reflect the drama of our lives, on Elk it’s known that humour, love and death go hand in hand. Life may seem hard sometimes, but it is always followed by laughter.

I hope you enjoyed the first look at Welcome to Elk that is coming to Xbox One later this year! If you have wild stories to share yourself or have heard some that are too good to be true, please share them with us on our Discord www.tripletopping.com/discord – we are always on the lookout for the next tall tale!

Ark Celebrates Its 5th Birthday on Xbox One

Back when Ark: Survival Evolved was first revealed to the world in 2015, we couldn’t have predicted the grand adventure that lay in wait. Now here we are five years later, and Ark continues to grow into far more than we had ever imagined. It is thanks to the Ark community and their dino-sized appetites for mythical worlds packed with primeval creatures, that the fun never ends.

Looking back on Ark’s journey over the last 5 years, we recall our own first memories playing the early game: waking up stranded on the shores of a mysterious island, with dangers lurking out in the jungle, learning how to build our first thatch home, craft our first basic weapons, surviving that first rough night, and the momentous occasion of taming our first dinosaur. What an experience it was! Fast-forward to the present where we’ve conquered the elements, constructed vast TEK fortresses, bred an army of powerful pedigreed creatures, and staked our claim as Ultimate Survivors across far-out worlds!

Today, that journey continues: in celebration of Ark’s 5th anniversary, we are excited to announce the introduction of a new real-world creature to the game, Tropeognathus!

Of course, we couldn’t celebrate Ark’s anniversary without an in-game event to accompany it! Bring out your party hats, because from June 11 to June 25, the Ark will be celebrating in grand style. Throw a surprise party for your tribe-mates with the new pop-out-surprise birthday cake structure, and cuddle-up with 5 cute new chibi pets!

Now that you know what’s being added today, let’s talk a bit about what’s next. We’ll be continuing our trend of game updates, with fresh content, free DLC, polish, addressing player feedback, and fixing issues to continue to make Ark the best it can be. Later this year, the new, free community-created “Crystal Isles” map will officially be released with a 150 sq km map with a wide variety of awe-inspiring biomes teeming with life, providing fresh opportunities for exploration, memorable challenges, and breathtaking discoveries.

And on a final note, we’d like to thank the community once more, as we truly appreciate all the passion and support you’ve shown the game. While we couldn’t have foreseen quite how the last 5 years would play out, from primitive dwellings to hyperspace whales, our vision for the Ark franchise is as strong as ever. So stick with us on this rollercoaster ride into the future, as we look forward with you to tremendously exciting years ahead for Ark, where the very definition of survival continues to evolve.

Stranded on the shores of a mysterious island, you must learn to survive. Use your cunning to kill or tame the primeval creatures roaming the land, and encounter other players to survive, dominate… and escape! TAME, TRAIN, BREED & RIDE DINOSAURS, IN A LIVING ECOSYSTEM Over 50 creatures can be tamed using a challenging subdue-&-protect process. Weaken a feral creature to knock it out, and then nursing it to health. Once tamed, you can issue commands to your Pet, which it may follow depending on how well you’ve tamed and trained it. Pets continue to level-up and consume food, and carry Inventory and Equipment. Fly a Pteranodon over the mountains, race through the jungle with a pack of Raptors, or chase down prey on a T-Rex! Experience a dynamic ecosystem with its own predator & prey hierarchies. Breed Pets through successive generations to generate the best traits. Or put more simply, breed & raise Dino Babies! FOOD, WATER, TEMPERATURE AND WEATHER Eat and drink to survive, with different foods having different nutritional values (including human meat!). All actions drain food and water, and long-distance travel is draining. Inventory weight slows you down, and the day/night cycle and weather alter the environment. Craft clothing, build shelter, and use fire to protect yourself against damage & the elements. HARVEST, CRAFT, AND PAINT ITEMS Harvest trees, ore, and more to become a master crafter. Use your hands, a Smithy, or a Fabricator to craft increasingly complex and powerful gear. Build a massive base using modular pieces–ranging from Thatch, to Wood, to Stone, to Metal. Customize your base by painting it and placing signs that you can actually draw on. Weapons, clothing, & armor gear can also be painted to express your own visual style. SUMMON THE ULTIMATE LIFE FORMS Bring rare items to special Summon locations to awaken the ARK’s mythical creatures, who arrive ready for battle. These monstrosities provide an end-game goal for the most experienced Tribes and their Pets, and yield valuable items if they are defeated. RPG STATISTICS Level-Up your survivor by gaining experience through in-game actions to learn new crafting Engrams, or find higher level item Blueprints in the most dangerous parts of the ARK. Customize the look of your character with a complex character creation system. HARDCORE MECHANICS Items have durability and wear out with use if not repaired. When you leave the game, your character remains “sleeping” in the persistent world. Your inventory also exists in the persistent world, vulnerable to theft. Death means permanent loss, and you can even enslave other players for your own purposes. LARGE WORLD PERSISTENCE On the 70+ player servers, your character, everything you built, and your pets stay in-game even when you leave. Special themed events will occur in the world with corresponding limited-run items!

Killing Floor 2: Perilous Plunder Summer Event Out Now on Xbox One

Continuing the time-honored summer tradition for the third year in Killing Floor 2, we’ve returned with a vengeance to once again bring you the frights and delights of the Summer Sideshow with our Perilous Plunder content update. We’re bringing you a carousel of value-packed deeper than a funnel cake with a new community map, a quadruple threat of weapons, Steampunk Matriarch boss fight variant, quality of life improvements, and a special space pirate-themed twist with our cosmetics and outfit bundle.

Killing Floor 2: Perilous Plunder

First up in our weapons lineup is a versatile two-handed cannon that would make even the sturdiest peg leg tremble with excitement. Deceptively simple, the lovingly filigreed Blunderbuss joins the stable for the Demolitionist and Support perks for both widespread destruction and close quarters room-clearing purposes. Loaded with a drum magazine of three rounds, its primary fire lobs a high impact cannonball with a trigger controlled explosive that detonates upon release. Embrace your bowling master fantasies to bounce and knockdown Zeds with child-like glee as you learn to time the explosive for maximum effect. Have Zeds come at you that need to be socially distanced? Have no fear as the secondary fire turns your rounds into a shrapnel blast to terrific effect. As with our previous weapon offerings, this weapon is available at launch for purchase paired with 5 hand-crafted weapon skins to demonstrate your own personal flair.

Killing Floor 2: Perilous Plunder

Next up, what would pirates be without their trusty pistols? To that end, we have the new Glock 18C tailored to the Gunslinger to bring overwhelming force in a tight compact 33 round package. Available in dual-wieldable or single pistol options (for our hook-handed buccaneers), the Glock 18C is perfect for rapid response to anything and everything downrange with an integrated suppressor to reduce recoil at full-auto. It’s yours today to purchase paired with 5 tactical skins options to suit your style. Caution: Overwhelming urges to declare self-identification with the law while in use is expected.

Killing Floor 2: Perilous Plunder

Horzine R&D certainly has outdone themselves this time with the latest prototype weaponry fresh off the 3D printer. For one scientist, the standard Boomstick didn’t quite live up to the potential of its moniker and found the Doomstick was a touch gauche. He modified the 12 gauge shell to pack in 8 pellets of explosive entertainment to form the HRG Kaboomstick for the Demolitionist and fill the fevered dreams of slayers worldwide. Finally ‒ and not to be underestimated ‒ is the ecologically friendly HRG Teslauncher for Berserker; firing modified microwave rounds paired with an underslung EMP grenade launcher. The only footprint you’ll be leaving is in the coarse leathery posterior of the panicked burning enemies fleeing from your sight.

Killing Floor 2: Perilous Plunder

What new playground of pain might these instruments of terror be employed? How about an abandoned black ops military base nestled deep in the jungle in an undisclosed location. There you’ll find communication centers, firing ranges, vehicle repair bays, and the inspiring and misunderstood world of applied transcontinental shipping container logistics. Third place winner of the community map survival mode group, the map may be called Desolation but it’s anything but barren.

Killing Floor 2: Perilous Plunder

We have a new batch of seasonal objectives ready for you to complete by July 7 and for your troubles, we’ll provide you with an adorable Space Monkey Backpack to join you on your swashbuckling adventures this Summer. Those dedicated to the cause will also be rewarded with Summer Sideshow Tickets to redeem for more Space Pirate accessories to reign supreme within the fashion floor. Show the world who’s the captain now by completing the assemble with the Space Pirate Outfit available to purchase alongside this update’s treasure trove of cosmetic options.

Here at Tripwire, it is our pleasure to continue to support this game almost three years after launch and to provide you with fun new content that you can enjoy and play even during these difficult times. Stay safe and healthy everyone and see you all on the Killing Floor.

The Perilous Plunder update is free and available now for Killing Floor 2 players on Xbox One.

OVERVIEW: In KILLING FLOOR 2, players descend into continental Europe after it has been overrun by horrific, murderous clones called Zeds that were created by rogue elements of the Horzine Corporation. The Zed outbreak caused by Horzine’s failed experiments has quickly spread with unstoppable momentum, paralyzing the European Union. Only a month ago, the first Zed outbreak from the original KILLING FLOOR ripped through London; now the Zeds are everywhere. Civilization is in disarray, communication networks have failed, governments have collapsed, and military forces have been systematically eradicated. The people of Europe are now focused on self-preservation, the lucky few who survived having gone into hiding. But not all have given up hope; a motley group of civilians, soldiers, and mercenaries have banded together to fight the Zed outbreaks from bases across Europe. When an outbreak is detected, the players are sent into Zed-laden hot zones to exterminate all threats using whatever means necessary. Welcome to the Killing Floor. KEY FEATURES: • Xbox One Exclusive Content – Spray zeds with liquid nitrogen and shatter them to pieces with the Freezethrower, an Xbox One exclusive weapon for the Survivalist Perk. The Freezethrower comes with eight weapon skins to customize your weapon’s appearance. Also, you can sport the Wasteland Armor uniform, an Xbox One exclusive cosmetic outfit, with five different styles. Killing Floor 2 includes all previously released DLC packs including Tropical Bash, The Descent, and elements of the Summer Sideshow. • Visceral Gore – KILLING FLOOR 2 ramps up the gore with a proprietary, high-powered, persistent blood and gore system bringing new levels of fidelity and brutality. Players will send entrails, severed limbs, and blood flying as they wade through hordes of enemies. • Survival Game Mode: Play Solo or Co-op with Up to 6 Players—In this game mode, player team up against hordes of AI controlled Zeds across multiple waves, collecting Dosh for each Zed killed and using it to buy weapon upgrades, until they reach the boss… or die trying • Versus Survival Game Mode: Play PvP with Up to 12 Players – Be the Zed! In this game mode, two teams of up to six players take turns, one team playing humans and the other a mixture of specially modified Zeds backed up by AI controlled Zeds. After each team has a turn playing both humans and Zeds, they both receive a score based on their performance and the higher score wins! • Terrifying Zeds – Ranging from the lowly clot to the might of the cybernetically enhanced Patriarch, players will have to deal with a vast array of Zeds trying to kill them using advanced and deadly artificial intelligence. The Zed hordes unleash devastating, coordinated attacks to slaughter the players, pushing the challenge level and fear factor to new levels • Unique Blend of Weaponry – From modern assault rifles and brutal improvised weapons to historical guns and off the wall “Mad Scientist” weapons, KILLING FLOOR 2 has a unique blend of slaughter tools that will satisfy any gamer. • Expanded Perk System – Players can select from ten different perks, each with its own skills, powers, and weapons, in addition to choosing from among a variety of playable characters with different appearances and personalities. All perks progress with meaningful talent choices that amplify different play styles, giving players a progression path that is expansive and full of rewarding milestones. • Mixer Integration – Interact with viewers in when streaming through Mixer. Viewers aren’t just passive observers, but can affect gameplay, both aiding the streamer and making their game more difficult.

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio, a Great Challenge, Full of Nonsense Humor and Retro Goodness

Today is a great day for the indie games lovers. The little gem Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio is ready to land on Xbox One!

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio is a fixed screen (remember those?) action/platformer that will make you travel through a crazy mansion.

You control a weird guy called Tcheco trapped in a cursed castle where you can only expect the unexpected (it’s probably the only place in the world where you’ll see a demon hanging out on a soccer field).

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio

To escape this demonic nightmare you have to go through many locked rooms and the only way to move to the next one if find the right key!

Fortunately for our hero his friends are there to help him: Pepito, his loyal dog, will help him to achieve higher platforms and Maicon will restore some of his lost health.

A special guest from another game will also come to help Tcheco on his crazy journey: Oniken’s star, Zaku!

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio

Unfortunately for them scary enemies live inside the castle. Zombies, demons, Frankenstein’s monster, the devil himself… all of them are waiting for our hero in the dark.

There are 65 stages on this game but you’ll probably spend just a few seconds on each location. You never know what will happen next… You must be focused as you’ll always face new enemies and dangerous challenges.

At the first stage you will only need a key to get out of a room. The further you go, the more complicated the challenge will become. You will need 2 or even 3 keys to go to the next chamber!

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio

Based on a Brazilian underground TV cartoon, Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio is an indie title full of humour and classic video games references. A critically acclaimed platformer that the Italian publisher Fantastico Studio is finally bringing to Xbox one.

The game features retro pixel art and original chiptune music made with software used to create 8-bit homebrew games. The limitations of the old consoles have been respected and taken very seriously, to offer the player an experience very close to the original 80s classic games mood.

The controls are minimalistic, all you need to do is jump, go left and right. Seems simple? Well, because it really is! Sounds easy? Well, it shouldn’t! At first the Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio might not seem very dangerous, but leave it is a task for skilled players. During the game you will have to try the same room several times, but every time you replay the level you will feel like playing better.

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio

Despite his look our hero is surprisingly athletic. He can swim, ride a skateboard and fly using jetpacks. It is ready to explore a huge castle and if you like what you have just read you are probably ready to do it too!

Xbox One X Enhanced

Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio is an 8-bit, 2D platformer. It’s a challenging, non stop action experience that incentivizes quick thinking, platforming precision and memorization. Like older 8-bit games, it’s a game that’s meant to be replayed over and over again until mastered. Quick reactions and timing are necessary for success in the game. Levels – which are in the form of rooms – are short and require you to quickly scan to find a way to get to the next room, which is either a doorway that requires a key found within that room or a black hole Visually and from an auditory standpoint, everything about the game is designed to look and feel like an old school 8-bit game.

Capcom Announces Resident Evil Village and Pragmata for Xbox Series X

Capcom has been on quite a roll over the last few years, particularly with its critically acclaimed Resident Evil series. By updating classic titles like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 for the modern era, Capcom gave old fans a great reason to dive back in while welcoming new fans with two of the best remakes of the generation. Today, they announced that they’ll be jumping back into the Resident Evil pool, this time with a brand-new title built for Xbox Series X. What’s more, they also teased their first brand-new IP in four years: an action-adventure game called Pragmata.

Titled Resident Evil Village, this new story is the sequel to 2017’s Resident Evil 7 biohazard, which was notable for being the first flagship Resident Evil title to put players directly in a hero’s shoes via a first-person perspective. In Resident Evil Village, players will take on the role of protagonist Ethan Winters as he pushes the limits of survival in a horrific village.

In addition to sticking to its deeply immersive first-person perspective, Resident Evil Village will feature an emphasis on action gameplay elements while setting the bar for next-gen survival horror. You can be sure it’ll look great too, with gorgeous photorealistic visuals made possible with Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine. Resident Evil Village is scheduled for release in 2021 on Xbox Series X.

As for Pragmata, all we currently know is that it’s an action-adventure title that depicts a near-future dystopian world on the moon, presented through a deeply profound story. The game will take full advantage of next-generation platform features and Capcom has already said that it aims to establish Pragmata as one of its core brands. We’ll have to wait a bit to learn more, as Pragmata is planned to be released on Xbox Series X in 2022.

The next generation is already shaping up to be an exciting one for Capcom and we can’t wait to play Resident Evil Village and Pragmata on Xbox Series X. Stay tuned to Xbox Wire for more details!

Known Issues for Alpha

We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These issues aren’t being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution. We appreciate your patience at this time!
