Known Issues

We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These items aren’t being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

We’re still tracking these known issues:

Audio

  • Users who have Dolby Atmos enabled and console display settings set to 120hz with 36 bits per pixel (12-bit) are experiencing loss of Dolby Atmos audio in some situations.
    • Workaround: Disable 120hz or set Video Fidelity to 30 bits per pixel (10-bit) or lower.
  • Some users have reported that Dolby Atmos for Headphones audio setting changes when the console is rebooted/updated.
    • Note: If you attempt to set the audio to Dolby Atmos for Headphones and see a message advising you to launch the Dolby Access App, please file feedback before launching the app.

Game DVR

  • We are aware game clips (non-4K and 4K) are not recording at all or recording the incorrect length with recent updates. We are investigating.
    • Note: Make sure you report the behavior on the console as soon as you record the clip and notice either behavior.
    • Workaround: We’ve implemented a fix where clips that do not record in 4K will instead record in 1080p instead.

Guide

  • When installing or updating a game/app, the installation progress bar may not show progress.  The issue is known and being investigated.
  • We’ve received reports that the Friends tab is not showing the correct status of online/offline friends.
  • Some users may notice that the Guide has changed appearance and functionality, this is expected behavior as there are certain experiences being flighted among a random subset of users in Preview.

Messages

  • Users are reporting that Message notifications that have been marked as read are re-appearing as new. We are aware and investigating the behavior.

My Games & Apps

  • Users have reported seeing black tiles instead of game artwork when browsing their collection.
    • Note: We are still investigating the issue, please report the issue again from the console if you have done so with a prior update and are still seeing this behavior.
  • Some titles in collection may appear with a “trial” tag incorrectly in collection.

Profile Color

  • Sometimes users may encounter the incorrect Profile color when powering on the console.

Make sure to use Report a problem to keep us informed of your issue. We may not be able to respond to everyone, but the data we’ll gather is crucial to finding a resolution.

Borderlands 3 DLC Bounty of Blood Available Now on Xbox One

Calling all Vault Hunters! A considerable bounty has been placed on the notorious Devil Riders gang, and now that Bounty of Blood — the third campaign add-on for Borderlands 3 — is available on Xbox One, it’s time to collect!

Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood

Bounty of Blood‘s Wild West-inspired tale of revenge and retribution takes place on the all-new frontier planet of Gehenna, which was once a testing ground for prototype weaponry and biological experiments. The company responsible has long since abandoned the planet, and descendants of the folks who chose to stay behind work hard to eke out a peaceful existence for themselves in and around the town of Vestige.

Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood

The vicious beast-riding mercenaries of the Devil Riders gang pose a serious threat to the town; the locals are tough as all hell, but they’re outgunned, and given the brutal and demanding nature of Gehenna, their continued survival was a struggle even before the Devil Riders showed up. Now they’re looking to outsiders for help, and that’s where you come in.

Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood

You won’t find any familiar faces on Gehenna, but you’ll have ample opportunities to get to know some of the townsfolk. Your adventure will also be accompanied by an unseen narrator, who recounts in real-time the story of the outsider who heroically came to the aid of Vestige in its time of need. As you complete Bounty of Blood story and side missions, the town itself will let you know that you’re effecting positive change: boarded-up and dilapidated stores will reopen, the rundown theater will screen any film reels that you recover, and some of the weather-beaten characters you encounter in the dusty wastes of Gehenna will return to town.

Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood

Whether you’re seeking out collectibles, pursuing Devil Riders, or claiming bounties on dangerous beasts, you’ll get to navigate Gehenna’s unforgiving landscape astride the all-new Jetbeast. This heavily-armed half-hoverbike, half-creature is unlike any vehicle you’ve used in Borderlands 3 before, and can be customized to suit both your playstyle and preferred look.

Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood

Another element unlike anything that you’ve used in Borderlands 3 before is the flora growing on Gehenna. Following years of biological experimentation, the local plant life has some unusual and incredibly useful properties. Breezeblooms will propel you high into the air so that you can reach otherwise inaccessible areas, Traitorweeds can be used to temporarily turn enemies into allies, and Coresploders shower enemies in high-damage shrapnel when you melee them.

Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood

Bounty of Blood introduces a host of new features and gameplay mechanics, but this is still Borderlands 3, so there’s a ton of new loot to collect. Improve your chances of survival on Gehenna with new Legendary weapons and other gear, and seek out new Vault Hunter Heads, Skins, and other customization items so you can nail an East-meets-Western look for your Vault Hunter and crew quarters.

Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood

Like the previous Borderlands 3 expansions Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot and Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock, Bounty of Blood is included in the Borderlands 3 Super Deluxe Edition and the Season Pass, both of which are currently available at discounted prices until June 29 to Xbox Live Gold members. The hard-working folks who call Vestige home are counting on you, Vault Hunter. Travel to Gehenna and help them to rebuild the town by taking down the Devil Riders in Bounty of Blood!

Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood

2K

38

Welcome to Gehenna, a brutal frontier planet at the outskirts of space. You’ve come to the humble town of Vestige in hopes of collecting a bounty on The Devil Riders, a violent gang of beast-riding mercenaries. Only the scrappiest folks have managed to survive out here – like Rose, a tough-as-nails warrior who’s as keen with a katana as a pistol, and Juno, a rugged brawler most locals call The Hatchet. To take down The Devil Riders, you’ll need to learn new tricks to survive Gehenna. Indigenous plants and experiments left behind by a mysterious company open up new approaches to combat and exploration: make enemies turn on one another with the Traitorweed, beam yourself to faraway areas with a Telezapper, and more. The new Jetbeast vehicle acts as your trusty steed, a customizable hoverbike outfitted with heavy artillery. All the while, an enigmatic narrator recounts the details of your rough-and-tumble heroics. Grab your six-shooter – or whatever fancy guns you Vault Hunters carry these days – and go put those damned Devil Riders in the ground. This content requires Borderlands 3 to play and is included in the Season Pass. What’s New: • Encounter a cast of tough-as-hell characters in a tale spun by the unseen narrator • Traverse the open plains of Gehenna atop the new heavily-armed Jetbeast vehicle, with customizable parts that let you make this mount your own • Use the environment to your advantage in combat and exploration, as new interactive objects let you soar into the air, rain down shrapnel on adversaries, and more • Help rebuild the town of Vestige, where each of your successes have a lasting impact on the locals’ livelihoods and town landmarks • Take on a host of additional Crew Challenges, like tracking down treasure or claiming bounties on beasts and bandits alike • Collect new Legendary loot and cosmetics pried from the cold, dead hands of rowdy gang members and feral critters

Dirt 5 Launches October 9 for Xbox One

Mark your calendars, race fans. The team here at Codemasters are delighted to announce that Dirt 5 launches October 9 on Xbox One!

Since the reveal of Dirt 5 during May’s Inside Xbox show, it’s been amazing to see the Xbox community’s reaction to the return of the amplified, wilder side of the Dirt franchise, which takes you across the globe in an array of off-road machines, tackling extreme terrain in incredible locations. That’s all set in this bright and bold racing vibe that encourages you to let loose and enjoy everything Dirt 5 has to offer.

Of course, alongside the October 9 release for Xbox One, we’re full speed ahead with launching Dirt 5 on Xbox Series X, too. Leveraging the power of the console through incredible graphical fidelity and further optimized performance – including a 120fps mode – Dirt 5 on Xbox Series X is set to blow… your… mind.

Dirt 5

The best part? Thanks to Xbox Smart Delivery, if you pick up Dirt 5 on October 9 for Xbox One, then make the jump to next-gen, you’ll get the Xbox Series X version of Dirt 5, free of charge.

In every month up to October, we’re focusing on a key aspect of Dirt 5 and bringing you all manner of news and insight on what you can expect from our amplified off-road racer. Throughout June, we’re breaking down Career mode – the biggest and most ambitious of its kind in the franchise.

In terms of the nuts and bolts, the headlines are: 130 unique events across five chapters, covering nine different race types. Players choose how they play with multiple progression paths, with big rewards and special events opening up along the way. Represent real-world brands with 20 sponsorships, each with their own unique liveries and objectives hit. With a focus on action, variety and choice, you’ll be challenged with mastering extreme dynamic weather, intimidating terrain, and the most powerful off-road cars. Got what it takes to own the spotlight, and ensure nobody forgets your name?

[embedded content]

If we stopped right there, that’s a Career mode we’re really excited to be bringing you – but there’s one particularly tasty cherry to drop on this cake. Dirt 5’s Career is driven by a story and an audio-based narrative, starring none other than Troy Baker and Nolan North. These icons of gaming play the respective roles of the player’s mentor and main antagonist, setting the scene for so much of the narrative built around your Career experience.

Alex ‘AJ’ Janicek, voiced by Baker, is the undisputed star of the off-world racing world that you’re just getting started in. Bruno Durand, voiced by North, is a cold, calculated veteran of motorsports, dead-set on dominating the world of Dirt. These two characters are bound to collide – and when they do, the result creates an opportunity for the player to emerge as a new superstar of the sport.

Dirt 5

The whole story is tracked and pushed forward by the in-game Dirt Podcast by Donut Media, hosted by the real-world car culture and automotive content heroes at Donut Media. Their audio show sets the scene and stirs the pot, with big news and interviews with AJ, Bruno and other guest stars. Make sure to check out our latest Dirt 5 video, where Baker, North, Donut Media and our Dialogue Producer Olly Johnson reveal all on the story, and the free-form recording style that brings the narrative to life.

That’s just one feature of Dirt 5 that we’re shamelessly getting hyped for you to play. Over the coming months we’ll reveal more on multiplayer, split-screen, car classes, truly extreme events, livery editor, photo mode and a brand new feature for Dirt, never before seen in the franchise.

Got all of that? Good. Now, I think I need a lie down…

Seven Awesome Facts About Star Wars: Squadrons, Coming October 2 to Xbox One

It’s finally out for the entire galaxy to see – the first look at Star Wars: Squadrons! Don’t wait, watch it now before we get into seven awesome facts about this authentic Star Wars piloting experience:

1. Fight alongside your squadron

Star Wars: Squadrons is centered around 5v5 first-person multiplayer space combat. You’ll triumph as a team and plan every skirmish together in the briefing room before taking off for space battles across the galaxy. Compose your squadron with different starfighter classes, unite and take on tactical objectives, and adapt to the situation as it arises. Battle in intense dogfights, carry out bombing runs on capital ships, and coordinate attacks on the subsystems of giant flagships. Together, you’re the galaxy’s finest.

Star Wars: Squadrons

2. Get in the cockpit

Feel the intensity of combat in the cockpits of legendary starfighters from a first-person perspective. Use your instruments to target enemies and manage the power between weapons, shields, and engines. And don’t forget to add a personal touch to your ships’ interiors with cosmetics – including holograms and other exotic items from obscure corners of the galaxy!

Star Wars: Squadrons

3. Tip the scales in monumental fleet battles

Fleet Battles is Star Wars: Squadrons’ signature mode. Unite with your squadron online or play against bots to tip the scales in a multi-stage, objective-based contest between two squadrons of five. Advance the frontline by dominating the enemy in intense dogfights and carry out bombing runs to take out capital ships protecting your ultimate goal: the destruction of the massive, enemy flagship.

Star Wars: Squadrons

4. Experience a unique Star Wars story

The New Republic fights for freedom. The Empire demands order. You’ll fly for both and learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling Star Wars single-player story, covering a key campaign near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War. Seen from alternating perspectives between two factions, iconic and emerging leaders on both sides are battling for the galaxy. This is a time when ace pilots will make all the difference.

Star Wars: Squadrons

5. Master a roster of legendary starfighters

Take full control of a total of eight starfighters from both the New Republic and Imperial fleets! The lineup includes the Fighter class X-wing and TIE fighter, the Bomber class Y-wing and TIE surface assault bomber, the Interceptor class A-wing and TIE interceptor, and the Support class U-wing and TIE reaper. Each class has its own advantages and drawbacks to complement one another – like the A-wing being fast but fragile and the TIE surface assault bomber being heavy-hitting but sluggish. The roster of starfighters can also be modified with an arsenal of over 50 components to suit your own playstyle.

Star Wars: Squadrons

6. Battle in known and never-before-seen locations

Take off to space battles in both known and never-before-seen locations! Fight above the massive gas giant Yavin Prime, navigate between still-molten fragments from the shattered moon of Galitan, and unite throughout the dangerous Zavian Abyss filled with shipwrecks and asteroids charged with energy from the surrounding maelstrom.

Star Wars: Squadrons

7. Unlock rewards in a clear path for progression

Star Wars: Squadrons is a fully self-contained experience from day one, where you earn rewards solely through play. Climb the ranks and unlock new components like weapons, hulls, engines, shields, and cosmetic items in a clear path for progression.

Master the art of starfighter combat in Star Wars: Squadrons on Xbox One this October 2. Stay up to date and get more intel on the official Star Wars: Squadrons website.

Play the Odds in Lost in Random, an Upcoming EA Originals Title from Zoink

Get ready to roll in Lost in Random, a dark and slightly twisted fairy tale about a courageous girl named Even, her plucky sidekick Dicey, and their quest to break the curse of Random. Created by Zoink, an award-winning studio located in Gothenburg, Sweden, this game will take you on a journey through the kingdom of Random, a maddening place where the rules that govern your future can suddenly change with the roll of a dice.

In an interview with Zoink, we learned that they have a very organic creation process for their games. When it came to Lost in Random, they were more interested in exploring a mood or a feeling as their starting point, instead of setting out with a set of predefined game mechanics.  Ultimately, their inspiration for Lost in Random came from a love of exploration of the strange and unusual through art.

Once Zoink found their inspiration, their creative vision centered around creating a dreamlike world which was slightly strange and foreboding, like something you’d find in a Brothers Grimm fairy tale. They began with the idea of randomness; what if someone’s life was shaped by something as chaotic as the throw of a dice? And how would that work in a game?

Uncertainty is present in all our lives and something that we all must live with and adapt to. Zoink decided to take that theme and modify it a little, creating a fun game that also gives players the feeling of power over chaos.

While the team isn’t sharing too many details at the moment, they are really excited for what’s to come and for players to meet and learn about Lost in Random’s protagonists, Even and Dicey. These two characters are very different, but together they make an amazing pair.

Zoink is also excited to bring more gameplay features to light in the coming months. For now, we know that rolling your dice can really open your options and present you with some exciting opportunities in battle.

Players will need to take chances, play the odds, and think on their toes to survive. And the fact that you’ll never know how the dice will roll is all part of the excitement.

It Takes Two is the Next Groundbreaking Co-Op Adventure From Hazelight, Coming 2021

We’ve ventured through a mythical Nordic landscape. We’ve plotted our escape from prison. Now, it’s time to prepare for another groundbreaking EA Originals co-op adventure from Hazelight, in their next title It Takes Two set for release in 2021! Watch the announcement from EA Play Live now

Josef Fares, founder of Hazelight, and his award-winning studio made their debut with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons back in 2013 on Xbox 360. Brothers introduced us to an emotional tale where you played as two young boys journeying through a fantastical world to find a cure for their dying father.

It Takes Two

In comparison, Hazelight’s first EA Originals game A Way Out took cinematic co-op to the next level in a heart-pumping prison break thriller. Tailored to be experienced together, A Way Out could even be played online with a friend who didn’t own the game, through its innovative Friend’s Pass mechanic.

Josef wrote and directed movies before he founded Hazelight, and emotional stories remain at the heart of their games. When comparing the two mediums, Josef states that it is more difficult to make a game, as the audience has control of the story’s pacing. While in movies, the story is paced for you. Even though there are plenty of good stories in games out there, few of them grasp the potential of gaming’s interactivity.

It Takes Two

Ever played a videogame with a fun story but repetitive game mechanics? Or did you ever get the feeling that the game designers were heading in one direction, and the storywriters in another?  That is exactly the kind of experience Hazelight wants to put a stop to, and that is why marrying the story with the gameplay mechanics is central to their vision with It Takes Two.

The narrative in It Takes Two begins with Cody, May, and their daughter Rose. Cody and May are separating, and Rose is secretly devastated by the situation. When she is by herself, in distress, she builds two dolls out of wood and clay, wishing for her parents to stay together. By magic, the dolls come alive, and it turns out that Cody and May have been transformed!

It Takes Two

It is the starting point of a crazy co-op adventure, where you and a friend will have to work together to get Cody and May back into their human bodies. In some instances, the mechanics will mirror the feelings of Cody and May, creating an unexpected and highly emotional action-adventure platformer where gameplay and storytelling work as one.

It Takes Two is an EA Originals title coming to Xbox One in 2021. Stay up to date by watching this space and the official It Takes Two website.
