Tiny Yet Beefy USB-C Power Supply Has its Kickstarter Eyes Set on Switch

As most of you know, NL Towers and many of its staff are plonked lovingly in the middle of the United Kingdom, a land of fish, chips, and offensively bulky power plugs. Electronics manufacturer Mu has been producing a folding plug design for a few years now, and now they’ve turned their focus towards USB-C and therefore the Nintendo Switch.

The Mu One promises on its Kickstarter campaign that this plug will not only be extremely compact and internationally compatible, even with the UK’s ludicrous if effective three-prong system, but also punch out a whopping 45W should your device demand it. This is more than enough to power not only the Switch but also the dock, which is notoriously power hungry for USB-C.

It’s already managed to quadruple its initial goal of £20,000, but has this portable power plug piqued your interest? Let us know in the comments below.

Shopkeeping RPG Adventure Moonlighter Will Go Physical On Switch In 2018

11 Bit Studios will be teaming up with fellow publisher Merge Games to bring Digital Sun Games’ upcoming RPG/shopkeeping simulator that is Moonlighter to retail. The game, which is due out in ‘early 2018’, mashes up the responsibilities of a shopkeeper by day (including crafting items and interacting with your fellow villagers) and action adventuring by night (travelling through mysterious gates in search of monsters, loot and more).

No word on a price point for the physical version just yet – of if an EU version will be released – but considering developer Digital Sun Games is based in Spain, we can probably make a safe bet that EU shelves won’t be left wanting.

Let us know what you make of the Moonlighter news? Does a boxed version of a game make it more attractive? Drop us a comment or two…

Indie studio Strength in Numbers has revealed that its forthcoming horror title Kaet Must Die! is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Placed in the role of psionicist Kaetheran, you must survive the onslaught of deadly creatures long enough to regain your powers and fight your way to freedom.

Be prepared to die. A lot. Kaet Must Die! was designed to punish players with its over-the-top difficulty and to appeal to those hungry for a true challenge. We’re looking forward to seeing lots of games journalists die, and die again when we show off the game at this year’s GDC.

Nintendo Switch Helped UK Games Market Grow More Than 12 Percent In 2017

The UK games market grew 12.4 percent in 2017 to £5.11 billion, thanks in part to the incredible success of the Nintendo Switch.

The introduction of Nintendo’s new console saw hardware sales jump 29.9 percent. Sales of physical software rose 3.1 percent, but the pre-owned market fell by 15.1 percent, a possible consequence of players holding onto their games for longer thanks to support from by online play and DLC. Digital sales rose 13.4 percent to £1.6bn.

GfK’s Dorian Bloch said:

These UK figures reveal a solid performance for the physical software market, boosted by a return to growth in the overall console hardware market for the first time since 2014. With Sony’s PS4 showing four consecutive years of over 1m units sold per year, a strong performance from Microsoft’s sub £200 Xbox One S and premium core gamer Xbox One X, plus the introduction of Nintendo’s Switch enjoying the best start for a Nintendo home console since the mighty Wii back in 2006, it is clear that the console gaming market is now enjoying a renaissance.

Hopefully this positive trend can continue in 2018.

Rumour: Is Blizzard Teasing A Nintendo Switch Port Of Diablo 3?

Rumours of Diablo 3 – Blizzard’s aging but still much-loved dungeon crawler – coming to Nintendo Switch have been swirling since last year, and a new cryptic tweet from Blizzard could well pour petrol on those hopes of a proper portable version.

The short but sweet video shows a Diablo-themed nightlight being ‘switched’ off and on, with the words, “Sweet dreams,” written beneath. Could this be unsubtle hint that the 2012 threequel is coming to Switch? Or is Blizzard just casually alluding to some new stock of said nightlight (which was released at BlizzCon, the publisher’s annual event, in 2012)?

A handheld version of Diablo would be more than welcome on Switch, and considering it’s almost six years old, there’s an argument it could fit onto a teeny tiny game card. But what do you make of it? A hint of things to come or a bit of harmless trolling…

Spellbound Is A Wizard School Sim From The Publisher Behind Stardew Valley

There’s no getting around it, Stardew Valley remains a huge hit on Nintendo Switch and continues to perform well in the eShops, and Chucklefish – the publisher behind the game – is hoping to replicate that success with its next game. A wizard school simulator with added exploration and a splash of dating. Cast your eyes on Spellbound.

The British publisher is also a developer, and it’s hoping Spellbound could potentially replicate the success of ConcernedApe’s indie darling on PC and consoles. Talking of formats, there’s also the potential for the game to magic up a port on Switch. In a recent interview with Red Bull, founder Finn Brice hinted that Nintendo’s handheld could well see a version of the game in future: “We’re all massive fans of the Switch at Chucklefish,” he says. “And would ideally see all of our major projects hitting the platform in the future.”

What do you guys make of Spellbound? The developer cites Harry Potter and Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld as inspirations, so would you enroll in a few classes of transfiguration? Let us know below…

Kirby Star Allies Has a Demo Live on the eShop Now

Kirby Star Allies is the biggest release of this month on the Switch, and with just two weeks left until the game launches, excitement has never been higher. To capitalize on this, and perhaps to sway those who are on the fence, Nintendo has put out a short demo to give fans a taste of what’s to come.

The demo still isn’t live on the North American eShop, but you can download it from the EU eShop if you have an account set up for it. There’s two levels included—called “Grassland” and “Caves and Castles”—and the game’s much touted co-op gameplay is here, as well. Obviously, it won’t take very long to see everything here, but it should give you a decent idea of what’s to come.

What do you think? Will you be getting Kirby: Star Allies? What’s your favorite copy ability? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
