Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido Will Hit Switch And 3DS This June

Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct finally revealed the release date for Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido, which was originally shown off at last year’s E3 with the trailer above, and also announced that the game will be releasing on Nintendo Switch on the same day.

Hitting the console of your choice on 8th June, this game sees players hurtling bits of sushi at each other from the conveyor belts in front of you, tasking you with piling up plates of matching colours to be successful. Raised in a world where sushi is forbidden (shock horror), the game’s protagonist Musashi must wage all out conveyor belt sushi battles to defeat the empire and topple the sushi monopoly.

The game will also support online multiplayer matches, although Nintendo has confirmed that there will be no cross-play available between the 3DS and Switch versions.

Are you excited for this one? And just how amazing is that theme song? Wow.

Kirby Star Allies Will Receive Free Updates Adding Fan-Favourite Playable Characters

Kirby Star Allies is tantalisingly close to release now, with the 16th March getting literally closer by the minute, but that hasn’t stopped Nintendo from giving us even more juicy details about the game.

Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct revealed that Kirby will be able to enter Dream Palaces where some surprising additions can be added to your team. Fan favourites such as King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Bandana Waddle Dee will be available to befriend as ‘Dream Friends’ – as if the game couldn’t get any happier sounding.

This is all thanks to the game’s upcoming free updates (arriving after launch) which are set to introduce a selection of our most-loved Kirby characters from the series. The first of these updates will add Rick, Kine, and Coo from Kirby’s Dream Land 2, Marx from Kirby Super Star, and Gooey from Kirby’s Dream Land 3, and we can expect more updates in the future, too.

Kirby Star Allies is sounding better and better with each passing day, so are you looking forward to playing the game? Remember, a demo is available to download on your Switch right now if you want to try it out.

ARMS US And Canada Online Open Coming This Month

US and Canada ARMS players are in for a treat this month as the American Nintendo Direct revealed an upcoming tournament for Switch users from both regions. From 8th March to 18th March, the eight top players ranked in the game’s Ranked Battle mode will move on to the online final on 31st March that will be streamed live from Nintendo America HQ in Redmond, Washington.

No one will be left out of ARMS shenanigans this month because a brand new, three-day Global Testpunch was also revealed starting on that very same day. It is as they say: ‘The best things in life are free, the second best things are punches in the face from Max Brass’. Probably.

Are you an ass-kicking, face-smashing Ranked player, or do you prefer a more casual battle? Let us know in the comments below…

Bandai Namco’s Taiko no Tatsujin Is Coming To Switch In Japan

During last night’s Japanese Nintendo Direct it was announced that Taiko: Drum Master – known as Taiko no Tatsujin in its homeland – is coming to the Nintendo Switch, complete with songs from Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2.

Two-player support is included thanks to the fact that instead of using a drum peripheral, you use the Joy-Con to drum – just like the recently-released Japanese exclusive Gal Metal. A range of wacky party games are also included.

The game launches this year in Japan. We’d love to see this released in the west, but the odds aren’t great; the only title to be localised outside of Japan is the PlayStation 2 version, which launched in North America in 2004.

Fornite Is Coming To Mobile, So When Is It Coming To Nintendo Switch?

Fornite – the most-watched game on Twitch right now and the only other game in the ‘Battle Royale’ genre giving PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds a run for its money is coming to mobile, Epic Games has revealed. The developer has revealed the mobile ports will be the full game, featuring the same-exact gameplay, weekly updates, maps and more currently seen on PC and consoles. With PUBG developer Bluehole toy with the idea when it came to a Switch port of PUBG, could the move to mobile give more weight to a proper BG game on a Nintendo handheld?

Parity with the console versions is key, and it seems unlikely that Epic Games would go to the effort of porting the experience to iOS devices (running iOS 11 or higher) if it didn’t run smoothly. The only real roadblock at this stage is cross-play – or, more specifically, with whom that cross-play is taking place. It’s been confirmed that Epic has signed a deal with Sony to enable mobile players to play with those on the PS4 (and PC) versions. The fact this list misses out Microsoft does suggest some sort of console exclusivity on cross-play, so Epic would probably need to approach cross-play differently if it wanted to get Nintendo in the mix as well.

So what do you make of the Fortnite news? Would you want to play a BG on Switch? Do you it could really happen? We’ll have to chill out with some Splatoon 2 in the meantime. Let us know your thoughts below…

The Neo Sploosh-o-matic Will Make A Splash In Splatoon 2 This Weekend

Splatoon 2 has had a pretty good couple of days. Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct gave us a look at the upcoming Version 3.0, which is set to add a new extreme rank to the game, a new DLC expansion featuring a brand new single-player campaign, and even news that the Inklings will be playable in an upcoming Super Smash Bros. game for Nintendo Switch.

If that wasn’t enough, the weekend will be bringing yet another new weapon into the game for us to enjoy and, this time around, it’s the Neo Sploosh-o-matic. It will come with the Squid Beakon as its sub weapon, and the Tenta Missiles as its special.

As always, the update is set to kick in at 6pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern today (9th March), which means the early hours of the morning (2am UK / 3am CET) in Europe.

Will you be splooshin’ it up on the splattlefield with this new weapon? Let us know in the comments below.

Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers Will Roll Onto Nintendo 3DS This May

Yesterday’s surprise Nintendo Direct uncovered a pleasing amount of new games, as well as some great new content for those we already know and love. One new title, at least for western audiences, is Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers.

Previously announced for Japan, Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers sees action meet tower-defence, as Dillon and an animalised version of your own Mii race around to defeat enemies. Your friends’ Mii characters can join in on the action, too, appearing as extra gunners within the game as you try to take down the transforming monsters around you. You can check out Dillon’s segment of the Nintendo Direct below.

The game is set to launch in North America on 24th May, with a 25th May release date for Europe. A demo for the game is also scheduled to be available two weeks before release on 10th May, allowing you to check out the action before you buy.

Will you be trying out Dillon’s latest adventure in a couple of months’ time? Let us know in the comments below.

Video: This New Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition Trailer Is Full To The Brim

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition may be a triple-dip for Nintendo and Koei Tecmo, but we’re nevertheless quite interested in playing it for a third time in portable HD.

To drum up interest ahead of launch, Koei Tecmo has released a fresh trailer which is literally bursting at the seams with content. There’s action, fairies and even a look at the visually upscaled DLC that launched alongside the 3DS version.

The game arrives in Japan on March 22nd, with a worldwide release coming some time this year. Perhaps we’ll get a solid launch date for North America and Europe during today’s Nintendo Direct?

’90s Classic Another World Makes The Leap To Switch This Spring

You can play Éric Chahi’s classic 1991 cinematic platformer action-adventure game Another World on practically every gaming platform known to mankind these days – except for the Switch, of course.

This is all about to change as DotEmu has just announced that a Switch version of the seminal game is planned for Spring this year.

We really enjoyed getting reacquainted with the title back in 2014 on the Wii U eShop. This Switch port seems like it will be one of the best ways to experience this near-legendary game.

Let us know if you plan to pick this up in Spring with a comment below.
