Tactical JRPG Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs – Royal Edition Secures April Switch Release

Crunching Koalas has announced that Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs – Royal Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch on 12th April.

Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs is a modern-style JRPG with skippable battles, aiming to deliver a mix of good old adventuring and dynamic storytelling. There is also a focus on challenging turn-based combat, with the aim of restoring your realm and forging new alliances. It draws inspiration from JRPG classics, but hopes to let you experience the genre in an up-to-date, accessible style.

The Switch version is an enhanced edition of the original PC game, and will include the game’s DLC: The Unending Grimoire, which provides you with an endless mode and brand-new characters.

Featuring around 40-50 hours of gameplay (which can be reduced with the “skip battle” feature, if you wish), the game is set to be priced at $25, and will be released in retail “sometime after” it arrives digitally.

Is this something you’ll be looking forward to next month? Let us know your thoughts below.

The Piranha Pit Returns To Splatoon 2 This Weekend Alongside A Brand New Weapon

As is usually the case, this weekend will introduce some additional content for Splatoon 2, giving players even more to think about when deciding upon their splatting strategies. This time around we have a new stage and a new weapon being added to the mix.

Piranha Pit is a map making its return from the original Splatoon. Located in a quarry, this map was notable for having each team’s base incredibly close to one other, with a wide central section featuring a number of conveyor belts.

In addition to this we have the introduction of the Sorella Brella. It will come with the Autobomb as its sub weapon, and the deadly Splat-Bomb Launcher as its special, potentially providing a great offensive and defensive combination for those wishing to use it.

As usual, the update will likely kick in at 6pm Pacific / 9pm Eastern on Friday (30th March), which means the early hours of Saturday morning (2am UK / 3am CET) in Europe.

Will you be checking out all of the new content this weekend?

Random: There’s A New Game On The Japanese Switch eShop That’s Definitely NSFW

While Nintendo has long been associated with family-friendly fun, that hasn’t stopped a fair share of ‘adult’ titles making their way onto its consoles. Since most of these have either been ultra-violent (hello, DOOM) or uber scary (hi there, Outlast 2), we’ve rarely batted an eyelid, but what about adult games with very different adult themes?

Well, it seems over in Japan the topic of sex is a lot more liberal, which is probably why a game involving answering questions so a model sends you increasingly racier pictures/videos somehow managed to get onto the Japanese eShopShin Den Ai (Nani ga Hoshii no?) ~Eri Kitami~ launched today, and it stars adult model Kitami in a variety of outfits with painfully cheesy names. Somehow we don’t think this mobile port is going to be making it to the West anytime soon…

We get a feeling this bit of news is going to get a LOT of comments, so we’ll let you guys discuss Shin Den Ai (Nani ga Hoshii no?) ~Eri Kitami~ down below…

Could Switch’s Non-Compliant USB-C Spec Be To Blame For Third-Party Docks Bricking Consoles?

Unless you’ve been out of the loop for a while, you’ll be aware of issues regarding third-party docks being used with the Nintendo Switch. Ever since the 5.0.0 update went live, we’ve been seeing reports of owners bricking their consoles when using unlicensed docks produced by companies such as Nyko.

Nintendo has commented on this situation and the message is clear – don’t use any dock with your Switch other than the one it comes bundled with – but some dedicated individuals have been digging and there’s evidence which suggests the console itself could be to blame.

More specifically, it’s the way the Switch’s USB-C connection works that could be the cause of the issue. A post has appeared on Reddit which does an excellent job of pulling together the findings so far, but in summary, the USB-C protocols in the Nintendo Switch are non-standard and could possibly be the root cause of the bricking issues seen so far.

Here’s a quote:

The Nintendo Switch Dock USB TypeC power supply is not USB-PD spec compliant. As a result it does not “play nice” with other USBC devices. This means you should strongly consider only using the Nintendo Switch Dock adapter only with the Nintendo Switch (and Dock). Additionally, it also seems the Nintendo Switch Dock does not “play nice” with other USB-PD chargers. This means you’re forced to use a Nintendo-brand power supply.

This post – along with this one and this one – goes even deeper into the issue. Could this be the reason that other docks are bricking the system? If Nintendo has used a non-standard spec for its USB-C connection, then third-party accessory makers – who will be making sure their products are compliant – could unknowingly be causing Switch consoles to brick themselves. The end result? Nintendo forces you to only purchase docks and power supplies it has produced or has licensed other companies to produce.

Let us know what you think of this evidence by posting a comment below.

Competition: Win A Set Of Third Editions Books, Including Zelda, Dark Souls And Final Fantasy

French publisher Third Editions does a fantastic line in deep and engaging video game books, and has previously released titles focusing on the likes of Zelda, Dark Souls and Metal Gear Solid.

The company is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to translate more of its books into English, and has kindly provided us with a set of its current editions to give away on the site.

Up for grabs are The Legend of Final Fantasy VIIZelda: The History of a Legendary Saga: Volume 1 and Dark Souls: Beyond the Grave – Volume 1.

You can enter this competition from anywhere in the world, and all you have to do is answer this one simple question:

What’s your favourite video game-related book, and why?

It could be something serious like Game Over: How Nintendo Conquered the World, or something a little daft like one of Nintendo’s goofy Worlds of Power novels. We’ll pick the one we like best one and that lucky individual will get the books.

We’ll pick a winner on Friday, April 6th. Good luck!

LEGO The Incredibles Will Be Plastic And Fantastic On Nintendo Switch This June

Last week we reported on an Amazon Canada listing that showed LEGO The Incredibles with a 15th June release date attached. We see a lot of these listings and many of those dates fail to come to anything, but with The Incredibles 2 opening in cinemas the day before, we predicted it was probably a legitimate date.

Thankfully, we were right, with Warner Bros and developer TT Games confirming the game is headed to consoles – including Nintendo Switch, naturally – on that very date. The game will cover both films in the franchise, so expect all sorts of brick-based fun with the super-powered nuclear family. You can check out the launch trailer below:

So, what are your thoughts on LEGO The Incredibles heading to Switch? Excited to finally play as the crime-fighting brood or does Switch have enough LEGO games already? We want to hear your takes below…
