Splatoon 2’s July Update Brings A Fresh Stage And Brand New Weapons

With the Octo Expansion dropping today and a new set of world champions crowned at E3 2018, Splatoon 2 is all up in the headlines. And here’s one more, with news that the July update will bring with it a new stage and some brand new weapons.

The new details were revealed via the Japanese Splatoon 2 account, showcasing a new location called ‘Hotel New Otolo’ in Japanese (expect a slightly different name for the English version) and a set of new new weapons that translate as the ‘Kugel Shriver’ (a short-range splat device) and the ‘Explosher’ (which can spread pain in multiple explosions, but with a slow fire-rate). With Nintendo promising continued support for Splatoon 2 to at least December, dedicated Inklings will have plenty to keep them occupied.

Will you be playing the Octo Expansion today? What do you make of the upcoming additions to the game? Opinions, share them!

Double Fine Is Bringing The Dual Stories Of Broken Age To Switch

Tim Schafer and the team at Double Fine have seemingly just realised the Nintendo Switch exists as they’ve announced not one game for the hybrid platform, but two. First we got news that classic point and click adventure Grim Fandango Remastered is headed to the eShop, and now it’s been confirmed Broken Age is also getting the same treatment.

Broken Age remains one of the most highly-backed games to ever appear on Kickstarter, arriving in 2014 in two parts due to how vast the game grew in size and scope. It’s already been out on PS Vita for a while now, so we know a handheld version works. Double Fine says the port will be coming sometime, “in the coming months.”

Have you played Broken Age before? Do you think it’s a good fit for Nintendo Switch? Share your thoughts on this new addition below…

Nintendo’s Share Price Plummets In Response To E3 Direct

Nintendo’s share value has been all over the place just recently; a large jump in price was seen after the Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! reveals, followed by an equally large drop after reports that Nintendo’s Quality of Life project had died. Now it seems to have dropped even further still in response to yesterday’s E3 Direct.

As you can see in the chart below, yesterday saw a drop of 6.21% in the company’s share value. Nintendo has seen bigger fluctuations than this in the past, but it’s still a rather hefty change in percentage. It has been suggested that analysts are currently doubting whether or not Nintendo can achieve its hardware and software sales having seen the line up from E3. Of course, an awful lot now appears to be riding on the shoulders of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the new Pokémon titles later this year.

It would seem that further specific concerns point to slightly lower than expected Switch sales this calendar year, the launch of Nintendo Labo, and the future of Nintendo’s Online service.

What do you think about this next period in the Switch’s life? Do you think 2018 is feeling a little quiet, or are you happy with the number of games and the services available with Switch? Let us know your thoughts below.

Mech Some Noise For Daemon X Machina, Headed To Switch In 2019

Nintendo opened the Nintendo Direct at E3 2018 with a bang, debuting a new mech-based third-person shooter by the name of Daemon X Machina. In the vein of the classic Armored Core series, you’ll pilot a giant robotic suit of armour (known as an ‘Arsenal’) and take on all manner of giant bosses with rockets and massive swords galore.

Details are very thin on the ground for this one, but we do know it’s coming to Nintendo Switch some time in 2019 and that Marvelous and First Studio are working on it. We also know Ken Awata and Ken Karube will serve as game directors, and that Kenichiro Tsukuda is also involved.

What do you make of Daemon X Machina? An exciting new title coming to Switch in the new year? Share your take with us below

Don’t Forget Your Trunks When Dragon Ball FighterZ Arrives On Switch This Summer

It was rumoured earlier this year, but today’s E3 2018 Nintendo Direct confirmed what we all wanted to hear – Dragon Ball FighterZ is coming to Switch.

The critically-acclaimed brawler made quite an impression on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and now it’s the turn of Nintendo fans to see what the fuss is all about. Amazingly, Nintendo didn’t give the game much screen time and crammed the announcement in amongst a load of other titles.

Here’s some PR:

DRAGON BALL FighterZ for the Nintendo Switch is in development at Arc System Works, a renowned Japanese video game developer of classic 2D fighting titles. With DRAGON BALL FighterZ for the Nintendo Switch, the development team is now taking the signature action-packed explosive gameplay of DRAGON BALL FighterZ and combining it with the portability of the Nintendo Switch. DRAGON BALL FighterZ for the Nintendo Switch will also feature easy-to-pick-up-and-play controls in support of single Joy-Con play, along with support for Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for serious competitive play. All the classic 2D fighting visuals and advanced 3D character models that look and feel as if they are ripped straight out of the DRAGON BALL anime series can now be enjoyed anytime, anywhere.

DRAGON BALL FighterZ for the Nintendo Switch will enable fans of all skill levels to truly feel like their favourite DRAGON BALL character. Featuring 3 vs. 3 battle mechanics, both new and seasoned players alike are sure to experience the epic scope of DRAGON BALL as they build their team and take them into battle. In order to build the strongest team possible, players will need to train and master more than one fighter and style. Only then will their skills be strong enough to take down the competition.

Bandai Namco hasn’t given a solid release date as yet, but we can expect the game “this summer”.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Is Unveiled For Switch, Every Previous Character Returns

As promised, details surrounding the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game for Switch have been shared during the Nintendo Direct E3 2018 live stream, and it’s all very tasty indeed.

The game will be called Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and will amazingly feature every single character we’ve ever seen before in the series, whether they were a main fighter or one introduced through DLC. On top of this, Daisy and a female option for the Pokémon Trainer have been added to the series, as well as – in an unbelievable turn of events – Ridley from the Metroid series. Lots of new stages are also set to appear from games such as Splatoon 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Apparently, the way in which you unlock characters has also been streamlined, making it a more enjoyable experience for players, and lots of other changes and refinements have been introduced to perfect the control and final smashes of each of the characters. Eight player battles are also set to return.

The game will release on Nintendo Switch on 7th December – make sure to put that big giant ‘X’ on your calendars so you don’t forget.

Feel free to positively burst with excitement in the comments below.

GameCube Controllers Will Be Compatible With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The GameCube controller is still considered by many diehard Super Smash Bros. fans as the best way to play the game. Since debuting alongside Super Smash Bros. Melee, Nintendo has been able to make it compatible with Brawl for Wii, and also the Wii U entry in the series.

Now, Nintendo’s latest Direct presentation has confirmed the controller will also be compatible with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Switch. This isn’t all that surprising considering how much fans still love this particular controller, and when considering the fact that not long ago the controller was made compatible with the Switch via the Wii U adapter. This allowed it to be used with games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and lead many to speculate it would also be made compatible with the upcoming iteration of Smash.

Are you happy to hear the GameCube controller is compatible with the latest entry in the Smash series? Is this controller the one you prefer to use? Let us know in the comments.
