3DS Remake Of Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story Arrives Next January

The 3DS announcements made during the most recent Nintendo Direct might have been brief, but at least owners of the beloved portable system have something to look forward to in the near future.

Following the reveal of Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr’s Journey earlier this year in May, Nintendo’s latest presentation has now confirmed the game will be arriving next year in the US on 11th January and in the UK on 25th January.

The title was originally released on the DS in 2009 and tasked Mario and Luigi with finding a cure for the Blorbs – a disease threatening all life in the Mushroom Kingdom. The catch was, the brotherly duo found themselves stuck deep inside the dark world of Bowser’s belly – resulting in Bowser having to find the cure himself. The game had you swap back and forth between these characters.

The 3DS release, as previously noted, will also include Bowser Jr’s Journey. Here’s a brief description:

A new side story follows Bowser Jr. as he gathers an army, creates formations, supports his allies with an arsenal of moves and generally causes chaos (in the best way possible). Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey will prove two adventures are better than one.

Are you looking forward to the revival of the classic DS game? Are you still playing your 3DS? Tell us in the comments.

Nintendo Reveals Upcoming NES Game Releases For Switch Online Service

Not wanting to sound like a Troll because I’m really not, but in all honesty there’s nothing on there of much interest (that I haven’t played a million times before already) .

Last nights direct I thought was fantastic overall as I explained in the other thread but I think I’m yet to be sold on the upcoming online service.

I very very rarely play games online so unless the special discounts / rewards are simply too good to miss then I’ll probably skip it for now.

Nobody knows for sure but one would assume further down the line that Nintendo will start to add SNES, N64 and dare I say it even game cube games. After all if they plan to add 3 new nes games per week there’s only so far that can last.

When some of the above gets added then it may become a more attractive proposition

Opinion: What Did You Think Of Today’s Nintendo Direct?

My thoughts:

1. Nothing new revealed about Nintendo Switch Online that we didn’t already know;

2. No Shantae for Smash.

3. The NES games. It already exists as the NES classic. You want NES games, go play the NES Classic.

4. No new Salmon Run stage. You dropped the ball on that, Nintendo. Give us a new Salmon Run stage or people will quit Salmon Run forever. Also open it for more than short spurts.

5. STILL relying on the Nintendo Switch app just to be able to have voice chat? Get with the times, Nintendo. We’ve got Discord, so why not implement that?

6. Nintendo Switch Online needs an anti-cheat service that permanently bans tryhards, hackers and autoaiming cheaters from games like Splatoon 2. Otherwise, it will kill the game like Splatoon 1.

7. No cloud saves for Splatoon 2? Shameful. Implement it and stop being so paranoid about “faked save cloud data” and “savescumming” and just make it a permanent server ban.

8. $20 just for the aforementioned NES titles (which I could, again, just plug in the NES Classic into my TV), the shoddy (again, aforementioned) cloud saves, and abysmal and what will likely be sporadic, odd discounts/special offers…? Eeeeeeh, come on, Nintendo, you can do better than that. For right now, you aren’t quite winning my $20 over juuuuuust yet.

Hop into the driver’s seat with Nintendo Labo Vehicle Kit, now in stores

Hop into the driver’s seat with Nintendo Labo Vehicle Kit, now in stores

It’s time to drive, dive and fly in the newest addition to the Nintendo Labo line of interactive DIY kits, harnessing the power of the Nintendo Switch system to create imaginative gameplay experiences. Starting today, Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kit navigates its way to stores at a suggested retail price of $69.99. The new kit includes materials to build several unique projects, called Toy-Con, including a car, plane, submarine, spray can, pedal and two keys. But building these projects is only the start of the fun!

In Adventure, a single- or multiplayer game*, players can explore a large, mysterious world featuring snowy mountains, a futuristic city and even archeological ruins solo or with a friend. Navigating the world is as easy as hopping behind the steering wheel of the Toy-Con Car, grabbing the flight stick of the Toy-Con Plane or rotating the controls of the Toy-Con Submarine. When players want to change from one vehicle to another, they simply have to swap out the Toy-Con Key to continue exploring through land, air or sea.

“Fans of all ages have embraced the originality and creativity of Nintendo Labo,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kit expands the possibilities of what Nintendo Labo can do, with a variety of fun gameplay modes and deeper programming elements to explore.”

Each of the three vehicles in Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kit handles differently, with specific controls and special moves. Players can launch a grappling hook with the submarine, do a barrel roll and shoot missiles in the plane, and perform wheelies and deploy weapons while driving the car. All of these moves and more can be used while participating in the many activities scattered around the colorful and vast in-game world.

Some of the other games include Rally, in which players pass through checkpoints in an off-road race against the clock in the world of Adventure; Circuit, a racing game with a twist – players can launch punches at in-game opponents; Slot Cars, a classic game that is controlled using only the Toy-Con Pedal; and Battle, one-on-one automotive showdowns with other players or against the game’s AI.

Customization is a big part of the Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kit experience. In Paint Studio, people can use their Toy-Con Spray Can to personalize their in-game vehicles and drivers. When gently shaking the Toy-Con Spray Can, users will actually hear the “ball” inside as they mix the paint. In Discover, users can learn how Nintendo Labo works, and in Toy-Con Garage, users can experiment with new ways to play and create their own Toy-Con inventions. Custom Controls is a new feature that allows users to make their own Toy-Con controllers for the game using common household items. For example, by using unexpected objects like a sponge and a notebook, industrious creators can make an additional Toy-Con Pedal for a friend! The possibilities are only limited by the scope of the user’s imagination.

Players can feel like they’re really in the driver’s seat by using the Toy-Con Car, Toy-Con Pedal and Toy-Con Key to control their in-game vehicle in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch. This immersive functionality will be available to download as a free software update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Sept. 19. These custom options join the Motorbike from the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit, which is already compatible with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

For more information about Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kit, visit https://labo.nintendo.com/kits/vehicle-kit/.

To make, play and discover with other kits, Nintendo Labo: Variety Kit and Nintendo Labo: Robot Kit are also now available in stores at suggested retail prices of $69.99 and $79.99, respectively.

*Multiplayer games require additional Joy-Con controllers and may require an additional Nintendo Labo: Vehicle Kit. System, kits and some accessories are sold separately.

*Nintendo Switch system required. Parental supervision recommended.

Nintendo Direct Reveals New Details On Hairstyling In Pokémon: Let’s Go

While we’ve had a few sneak peeks into the upcoming hairstyle features in Pokémon: Let’s Go, today’s Nintendo Direct finally revealed how you can become the very best Pokémon hairstylist, like no one ever was: using your Switch’s touchscreen.

Nintendo announced that petting your partner Pokémon using the touchscreen, while playing in handheld mode, will result in different hairstyles for your Pikachu or Eevee, depending on precisely how you pet them. Further details on all of the available hairstyles and techniques used to achieve them have yet to be disclosed.

At least Pikachu won’t be stuck with bangs like Lloyd Christmas forever. Don’t worry, Pikachu – very few people can pull those off, it’s not just you.

In closing out today’s Nintendo Direct, the company announced Animal Crossing would be coming to the Switch.

This marks the first time in over 10 years that a mainline Animal Crossing game has appeared on a Nintendo home console. The team here at Nintendo Life is, to put it mildly, excited about the release. All we know for now is the yet-untitled Animal Crossing title will come to the Switch in 2019.
