Gallery: Check Out These Amazing Artwork Pieces Based On Your Favourite Games

Art Gallery© Alexander Wells / James Gilleard

In just a couple of days’ time on 11th January, Los Angeles-based art gallery Gallery 1988 is hosting a new exhibit which will focus on a lovely collection of video game prints. The artists have now shared some of these images online for all to see, and they’re pretty incredible.

The exhibit is set to feature the work of both Alexander Wells and James Gilleard, two artists who create pieces with extremely different art styles. Both artists have created limited edition posters for the event based on popular video games, including quite a few Nintendo options which have us immediately reaching for our wallets and eyeing up any available wall space.

We’ve gathered a few of them for you to admire below, but we’d urge you to check out the two artists themselves via their own channels, too.

Truly amazing stuff, we’re sure you’ll agree. Let us know which is your favourite in the comments below.

Video: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe May Not Be All As Easy As You Might Think

The ‘New’ branch of the Super Mario brand has garnered quite the reputation for being easier than its older counterparts, and that reputation continues to hold true for New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe on the Switch. Not only did the Wii U original bear the stigma, but this ported version offers even more in the way of leniency when it comes to difficulty.

But for hardcore, death-defying platform seekers all is not quite yet lost. Casually hanging around on the main menu is a few other ways to play that seem to have been overlooked by many, including some of the staff here at NL Towers. We never said we were perfect.

The most inviting are the challenges, which are suitably a series of challenges that test your platforming mettle in ways even New Super Luigi U can only dream of. They may not seem too overwhelming at first, but stick with them and you’ll realise just what kind of a world of hurt you’re in for. Check out the video above if you’re interested to see more about the words you’ve just read/skimmed.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen Will Get Lovely Collector’s Edition Bundles On Switch In Japan

Dragon

Yesterday saw the shock announcement that Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is headed to Nintendo Switch this April. While western release options are still unknown at this point, it has been confirmed that Japan will receive no less than four different physical editions to choose from.

First up, and the biggest set of them all, is the Complete Edition, a bundle which includes a copy of the game, a mini soundtrack CD (which features five songs from the game), and a U-Treasure wax seal necklace. This collection is listed at 26,926 yen before tax (approximately £194 / $247). That’s one expensive game bundle.

Collectors Edition

The second set, called the Limited Edition, has everything from the Complete Edition included except the CD for 25,926 yen (so just a little bit cheaper), but those who want to save a little bit of cash will likely be going for one of the final two, necklace-lacking options. The Collector’s Package comes with a copy of the game and the CD for 4,990 yen (approx. £36 / $45) or you can buy the game on its own for 3,990 yen. All bundles can be found at Capcom’s online store.

As noted above, we’re still awaiting confirmation on whether or not western territories will be receiving similar treatment.

Would you pick up any of these bundles if they were available in your region? Will you just be downloading the game from the eShop when it launches on 23rd April? Let us know in the comments below.

LEGO DC Super Villains Screenshot1 1546901526

The second Aquaman movie pack has arrived in LEGO DC Super-Villains on Nintendo Switch today, further expanding the game’s world and character roster.

These action-packed Aquaman movie packs offer players the chance to control DC’s legendary pair, Aquaman and Mera, two characters recently reimagined in last year’s blockbuster film. It’s up to this pair to lead their people against Aquaman’s brother, Orm, who seeks to unite the seven kingdoms against the surface world.

On top of this added story element, each pack adds new playable characters:

Aquaman Movie Part 1: Aquaman (Gladiator), Black Manta (Movie), Mera, Orm (Gladiator), King Nereus and Queen Atlanna.

Aquaman Movie Part 2: Aquaman (Movie), Vulko, Trench Creature, Murk, Brine King and Orm (Movie).

‘Aquaman Movie Part 1’ and ‘Part 2’ are both part of the Season Pass for the full game. This Season Pass is included in the Deluxe Edition of the game, or can be purchased separately for $14.99. You can also grab the two Aquaman DLC packs without the Season Pass – they come together in a bundle for $5.99.

Random: This Giant LEGO Mario Actually Works As An amiibo Figure

Mariolego

As anyone who happens to be as hopelessly addicted to collecting amiibo figures as us will know, trying to find the space to keep your lovely collection on show is an absolute nightmare. This particular amiibo figure absolutely takes the biscuit, though, and we’re pretty sure it’s the biggest one we’ve ever seen.

The amazing figure belongs to Cody, co-host of Twitch channel DSKoopa. Talking to Kotaku, Cody reveals that the enormous Mario model was actually made by his mum, consisting of 6,000 individual bricks. Wow. Seemingly wanting to make the gift even more special, Cody decided to add an amiibo chip into a base for the model so that it would function as an ordinary Mario figure. You can see it working in the clip below.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen Is Slashing Its Way To Nintendo Switch This April

In a shock announcement, Nintendo and Capcom have revealed that Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is arriving on the console this April.

For those not in the know, Dragon’s Dogma is an action, role-playing, hack-and-slash title that was developed and published by Capcom back in 2012. The ‘Dark Arisen’ edition followed shortly after, launching on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2013, and eventually finding its way to Xbox One and PS4 in 2017. Now, Nintendo players will get the chance to experience the game’s open-world gameplay for the very first time.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen expanded upon the original release with new content including Bitterblack Isle (an extra dungeon), additional weapons and armour which were exclusive to that area, and full Japanese voice acting. The game received positive reviews upon release on other platforms, and has remained a fan-favourite ever since.

DD

The game will launch on Nintendo Switch on 23rd April.

Apocalipsis: Harry At The End Of The World Brings Medieval Point-And-Click Action To Switch This Week

Klabater has today announced that Apocalipsis: Harry at the End of the World is set to launch on Nintendo Switch just two days from now on 10th January.

The game is described as “an adventure game where medieval art comes alive to tell a timeless story of love, loss and sacrifice”, and sees you play as the titular Harry as he ventures out into a strange, unwelcoming, and haunted land to find his lost love. On his journey, he’ll meet fantastical creatures, straight from the visions of 15th and 16th-century artists such as Hans Holbein and Albrecht Dürer; the trailer above sets the tone nicely.

Switch players will benefit from the inclusion of the previously released DLC, ‘One Night in the Woods’ as standard. Check out the feature list and screenshots below for more info:

Features:
– Witness medieval art coming alive in a video game
– Meet creatures straight from the 15th century codices
– Hear Nergal’s dark voice telling you the story of Harry
– Experience a journey through the end times and see one of the available endings
– Visit over two dozen unique hand-drawn locations with puzzles to be solved and hidden meanings to be discovered
– Shake your spirit with the foreboding soundtrack inspired by the esthetic of Danse Macabre with an additional music from Behemoth hidden in the game

As noted above, the game launches on Switch this Thursday on 10th January.
