God Of War’s Art Director Is Still Drawing Realistic Smash Bros. Characters, And They’re Amazing

Earlier this month, we shared a selection of art pieces from God of War Art Director, Raf Grassetti, all of which were coming together to make a realistic-looking set of designs for characters from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Whatever your thoughts on the designs, it’s undeniable that an awful lot of talent has gone into each piece’s creation, and now we have another handful to look through.

Originally, Grassetti was somehow managing to upload one new image per day – presumably on top of all those pesky life commitments. Things have slowed down a little since then, but his followers are still being treated to some great pieces.

If you missed the first set – which included Samus, Link, Star Fox, Bowser, and Sonic – you can check those out right here. If you’re all caught up, here are another six.

Back in November, a small avalanche of screenshots was released for the upcoming Super Robot Wars T. Amazingly, today brings even more, and the Nintendo Life office is so overwhelmed by the sheer number of JPEGs flying around that we have no choice but to pass them on to you lovely lot. That okay with you?

In case you’ve missed our previous stories on this one, Super Robot Wars is a tactical RPG franchise from Bandai Namco which features crossovers from a variety of mecha anime series released in Japan (all of which are listed here if you want to know more). But enough waffling, here are those screenshots we promised.

If you want to check out our last round-up of screenshots from November, make sure to head here. You can also see even more screens from today’s release via 4gamer.

In case you’d forgotten, Super Robot Wars T launches on 20th March in Japan; an English-language release has been announced for South East Asia.

BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition Gets New Trailer And Physical Pre-Order Bonuses

PQube and Arc System Works have today released a brand new trailer for BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition. Pre-order bonuses have also been revealed for the physical edition of the game.

If you’re not up to date on this one, BlazBlue: Central Fiction allows players to experience the final chapter of the BlazBlue saga with upwards of 40 hours of gameplay in its story mode, over 30 unique characters to play as, and more than 60 stages. The Switch version comes with all DLC and previous updates as standard, and you can see just a taste of this action in today’s brand new trailer (above).

Those who wish to pre-order the physical edition (which is still sadly only coming to Europe – no North America release, we’re afraid) will receive an exclusive set of six pin badges. The six badges feature some of the series’ most iconic characters: Es, Hazama, Jin Kisaragi, Ragna the Bloodedge, Noel Vermillion and Makoto Nanaya.

Unnamed (1)

It’s worth noting that the offer only applies at participating retailers – which just so happen to be GAME UK, Micromania, World of Game Switzerland, Gameware Austria, and GAME SPAIN – although customers who purchase through RICE Digital will receive an “adorable” Chibi Ragna the Bloodege keyring instead.

Unnamed

The game itself is still scheduled to launch on 8th February in Europe (both digitally and physically) and the day before that on the 7th in North America (digitally only).

Are you looking forward to this one? Will you be pre-ordering the game to get your hands on these goodies? Tell us below.

The Lovely Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Art Book Has Been Delayed Due To Unexpected Demand

Xeno

Just last week, Nintendo and Kadokawa shared the news that a gorgeous Xenoblade Chronicles 2 art book was set to arrive in Japan. It has now been confirmed that the book’s release has been delayed slightly after the product received an unexpectedly high number of pre-orders.

The news comes via this tweet below from the official Japanese Xenoblade Twitter account. The message states that pre-orders greatly exceeded original predictions, before noting that it will now release on 12th February. Quite a few of you lovely readers mentioned that you’d be ordering a copy for yourself on our last article, so hopefully this will put your mind at ease if it arrives later than expected.

If you missed the news last time, the book – titled ‘Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Official Artworks Alrest Record’ – is set to feature illustrations from the game’s main character designer Masatsugu Saito, as well as extra illustrations from rare blade designer CHOCO. Characters, weapons, rare blades, titans, monsters, objects, and more will all appear. You can see the cover for yourself below.

You can still get your hands on a copy if you like – pre-orders are available via Amazon Japan (with international shipping) for ¥ 3,132 (approx. £22 / $29).

Video: Hisashi Nogami And Shinya Takahashi Discuss The Making Of Splatoon

Back in September last year, we shared the news that Splatoon 2 was set to be featured in a new exhibition in London, UK. Four months in, the exhibition is nearing its end, but Nintendo UK has invited a very special pair of guests to check it out and talk all things Splatoon.

Yes, the game’s producer, Hisashi Nogami, and Head of Software Development at Nintendo, Shinya Takahashi, have joined forces to discuss the title’s development. The pair talk about how the game came into being and why they chose to include it in the new exhibit, all while giving us a little tour of some of the things you can expect to see should you visit.

The exhibition is titled ‘Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt’, exploring modern gaming and the ways in which games are designed, discussed and played. It’s currently being held at the Victoria and Albert Museum and will be available to visit until 24th February. If you’re interested in attending, tickets are available right here for £18; Nintendo UK is also hosting a competition on Twitter to win tickets for yourself and a friend.

Would you like to check it out? Have you already been lucky enough to go? Let us know in the comments.
