Hellblade Release Date And Pricing Revealed For Nintendo Switch

Hellblade

Ninja Theory’s critically-acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has finally got a release date for Nintendo Switch.

The port – which is being handled by Polish studio QLOC – won’t add any new content, but it will support motion controls, which is nice.

The award-winning title will hit Nintendo’s console on April 11th as a digital-only release. It will cost £24.99 / €29.99 / $29.99. It’s worth noting that Ninja Theory is now owned by Microsoft, so this game – along with Cuphead – marks an exciting period of collaboration between Microsoft and Nintendo.

The game was previously exclusive to PlayStation 4, but also saw release on the Xbox One and PC.

id Software Has “No Plans” For Rage 2 On The Nintendo Switch Right Now

RAGE 2 IMG3

Last August, around the time of QuakeCon, id Software Studio Director Tim Willits said Rage 2 was being considered for the Switch. In February this year, Willits provided an update, explaining how id and Bethesda were “still investigating” a potential Switch release.

Fast forward to the month of April and Willits has now made another comment about the possibilities of Rage 2 coming to the Switch, during an interview with DualShockers at PAX East 2019. According to the id Software Studio Director, there are some challenges with the technology, but there are “no plans” for Rage 2 on the Switch at the moment.

“Well, we’ve been looking into it. It’s just the technology, there are some challenges, but we’re always looking for future platforms and future people to work with. So, we like to investigate, but we have no plans for that right now.”

Compared to his previous statements, at least it’s no longer a case of wondering if this game will be announced for the Switch in the near future.

Was Rage 2 a title you were hoping would make the Switch? Is DOOM and Wolfenstein enough? Tell us down below.

Yooka-Laylee’s Demastered Nintendo 64 Mode Is Out Now On Switch

Yooka-Laylee‘s Nintendo 64 mode is finally available on Nintendo Switch. You can see how it looks for yourself in the new trailer above.

Originally teased as a Kickstarter stretch goal when the project was still in its infancy, this visual demake – known as the 64-Bit Tonic – has been a much-wanted feature for fans of the game. We saw glimpses of it last July, and then again in October, but it’s finally here for real now.

The graphical overhaul (or underhaul?) is available right now as a free download for owners of the game on Switch and PC. The update will also arrive on PS4 and Xbox One at “a later date”.

Have you been waiting for this to arrive? What are your thoughts on the style shown in the video? Let us know in the comments below.

Dubious eShop Game Safety First Puts The ‘Pee’ In Puzzler

A very strange little game has popped up on the Switch eShop that has us wondering what exactly is going on over at Nintendo’s certification department. From the looks of the pictures, it seems like you’re controlling Mr Game and Watch’s lewd, drunken uncle.

No, it’s not an April Fools’ prank – the game’s called Safety First! and it debuted on Steam in 2016. Described as a twin-stick physics puzzler, it appears that you must repair broken electrical cables using your (ahem) ‘Magical Yellow Repair Liquid’. The thumb sticks control your feet and you press ‘A’ to deposit said liquid from…, well you can see for yourself.

As the screen shots show, little is left to the imagination when it comes to the appendage used to apply the ‘MYRL’ – to such an extent that we wonder how this got past Nintendo’s cert process. Sure, it’s nothing explicit… but then again, it is relatively explicit, no?

With 69 levels to get through, we think we understand what Headup Games is going for here. Regardless of the quality of the game itself, it certainly grabs your attention. Being somewhat of a stealth release, we couldn’t find a Switch trailer, so here’s the original launch trailer from 2016.

Hmm, interesting. How long do you think it’ll be before this comes down? Let us know below…

Video: Hmm, This Nintendo Direct Presentation Sure Is Suspicious

A brand new Nintendo Direct presentation has aired today, 1st April 2019, revealing that ‘everything’ is coming to Nintendo Switch.

Of course, if you’ve been paying attention to what day it is today, you’ll probably have figured out that this isn’t actually the case. In what is by far our favourite April Fools’ prank we’ve seen so far this year, IGN has shared a fake Nintendo Direct presentation that’s absolutely worth a watch.

Playing on the common act of port-begging, which we see on a near daily basis from fans who want literally everything on Switch, the video goes through just some of the great games coming to the console. The presentation style, graphics, transitions, and everything are spot on. Bravo, IGN. Bravo.

Let us know your thoughts on the video in the comments below and feel free to check out more April Fools’ day gaming pranks we’ve spotted today.

The Friends Of Ringo Ishikawa Is An Open World Beat ‘Em Up Hitting Switch This Week

The friends of Ringo Ishikawa is just days away from release on Nintendo Switch, bringing beat ’em up action to a console near you on 4th April.

From CIRCLE Entertainment and developer yeo, the game is said to blend “stylish pixel-based visuals, beat ‘em up action, surprising gameplay and imaginative storytelling”. It all plays out in an open world setting and even features some school-sim elements for good measure, with players guiding the protagonist through his final term at high school.

It seems to have quite a lot going on, with a town to explore, a day-night cycle, NPCs on schedules, battle grinding, school grinding, mini-games (such as ping-pong, billiards, and a videogame console with one game) and more. Feel free to check out these screenshots below.

As noted above, the game launches later this week (on 4th April) for $14.99 / €14.99. A 10% discount will be available for its first week on sale, taking that price down to $13.49 / €13,49.

Do you like the look of this one? Will you be giving it a go later this week? Tell us below.
