This Is Snooker Will Leave Switch Players Spoilt For Choice This Year

VooFoo Studios and publisher Double Eleven have today revealed This Is Snooker, a simulation of the sport headed to Nintendo Switch and other platforms “soon”.

You can see the very first trailer for the game up above, starring snooker’s very own Stephen Hendry. The seven-time world champion features in the game as both an AI opponent and an expert mentor, giving players tips in a series of videos designed to help improve your real-life and in-game snooker skills. The game also features a series of arcade scenarios that challenge you to recreate defining moments from his career.

Of course, the game’s announcement comes just weeks after Ripstone Games revealed a release window for its upcoming Snooker game, Snooker 19. Set to launch this spring, this will no doubt be a fierce rival for This Is Snooker and effectively leaves players a little spoilt for choice. You can learn more about Snooker 19 to compare here.

Which one will be the better offering? Will they both be worth our time in equal measure? Looks like it’s a pretty good time to be a snooker-loving Switch owner.

Motion Twin Still Thinking About A Multiplayer Component For Dead Cells

Dead Cells

The team at Motion Twin has done a wonderful job on Dead Cells, even if the Switch version did get off to a bit of a bumpy start in terms of performance. While the current focus for this small French-based development team is the game’s downloadable content – Rise of the Giants, the team has been considering a multiplayer component for some time now.

According to the developer, it’s one of the most requested features and has got to the point where they have been regularly discussing it. Here’s what the lead designer Sebastien Bénard had to say about a possible multiplayer add-on during an interview with Engadget:

We have been talking about that for a lot of time, but for now we don’t really feel that it’s multiplayer-oriented. But that’s something that could change. Because it’s really all about having any stupid idea, and suddenly it feels right and suddenly it feels ok.”

Would you like to see a multiplayer option added to Dead Cells? Do you think it could work in a game like this? Tell us down in the comments.

Ed Boon Reassures Fans Mortal Kombat 11 Will Run At 60fps On Nintendo Switch

Mortal Kombat 11 Scorp IMG

As close as we are to the release of Mortal Kombat 11 now, we still know little to nothing about the Switch version. The most we have heard about it was recently over the weekend at PAX East, when show floor reports confirmed the Nintendo iteration was hitting 60 frames per second. In saying this, no footage of the Switch release was allowed to be shown.

If you’re still not confident about how the eleventh entry will run on the Nintendo Switch, series co-creator Ed Boon is here to put your mind at ease. During a Rapid Fire interview with Game Informer, Boon reassured fans the game would run at 60fps on the hybrid device and certainly wouldn’t be 30fps or contain blurry backgrounds. He reinforces this by saying the Nintendo version is “looking great” and says it’s Mortal Kombat 11 through and through.

Are you glad to hear this? Would you like to see some Switch footage of the game at this point? Tell us down below.

PDP Reveals Switch Controller With Headphone Jack And Adjustable Audio Settings

Pdp

Gaming accessory maker PDP has revealed its latest controller for the Switch, calling it “the best Nintendo Switch controller for serious gamers”.

While we’d have to say that nothing can really top Nintendo’s own Pro Controller in our eyes, this new PDP design does have a particularly interesting feature. As you can see, there’s a standard 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom (which Nintendo’s own controllers are frustratingly lacking) and your audio settings can apparently be adjusted on the fly right from your controller.

It also benefits from an interchangeable faceplate and two additional programmable buttons, the latter of which will no doubt work in a similar way to PowerA’s range. John Moore, SVP of marketing at PDP, has shared the following in a press release today:

“When we set out to make the new Faceoff Deluxe+ Audio into the ultimate third-party controller for Nintendo Switch we focused on elite performance and customisation, and enabling more opportunities for in-game chat. We worked with the industry leaders at Vivox to offer the best chat experience possible and now we’re helping them get the word out to developers.”

PDP Faceoff Deluxe+ Audio Volume Control

This new product is called the ‘Faceoff Deluxe+ Audio Wired Controller’ and pre-orders are expected to go live in May. You’ll be able to get it from PDP’s official site and at participating retailers, with its full release coming this summer.

As ever, we’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.

Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Champions Secures An April Release On Switch

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions has now received a solid release date for Nintendo Switch. Get ready to bring the fires of war to a hybrid console near you on 16th April.

The game is described as “a modern take on collectable card games”, featuring cross-play between digital and physical versions and allowing players to scan physical cards into their collection to claim and take them onto the battlefield. We first heard about this one coming to Switch in January, when we were also treated to a cinematic trailer.

Now, though, we have that all-important release date, and PlayFusion CEO Mark Gehard has shared the following in a press release:

“The response for the physical and digital game has already been incredible, and we just can’t wait to watch that grow to new heights. With the upcoming release of our Set 3 cards in Savagery, and a whole heap of new features like Arena of Echoes and Realm Trials, there’s always going to be something new to try. And now, there will be a much bigger community to try with”

Launching alongside the new Switch version is a brand new single-player adventure called Realm Trials, which is said to feature “dozens of hours of content” where players will fight legendary battles to conquer the Mortal Realms. The new mode, ‘Arena of Echoes’, will also give players “a whole new way to battle”.

Are you excited for this one? Will you be checking it out later this month? Tell us below.

Bow To Blood: Last Captain Standing Hits Switch With A Ready Player One-Inspired Event

Launching today on Nintendo Switch is Bow to Blood: Last Captain Standing, a procedurally generated airship adventure.

Starting out as a PSVR exclusive, Bow to Blood has evolved into a multiplatform adventure with this new release. The game is a single-player action-strategy roguelike where you take command of an airship in a multi-stage competition being broadcast as a deadly reality TV show.

You must keep your ship afloat by defending from enemy ships and forging alliances, all while searching for treasure. Just like any good (or terrifying) reality show, though, you’re not here to make friends; you’ll also need to plot betrayals along the way.

Interestingly, the game is launching with a Ready Player One-inspired community event where the first player to uncover a secret treasure will be immortalised forever in the game. Cool.

Bow to Blood

You can pick this one up from the eShop right now for $19.99 / €19.99 / £17.99. Will you be giving it a go?

ARMS Meets Rocket League In Upcoming Switch Game Super Buckyball Tournament

Pathea Games, the studio behind My Time at Portia, has today revealed its next project. The game’s called Super Buckyball Tournament and – on the surface, at least – the whole thing looks incredibly familiar.

The game is a third-person, online multiplayer, action sports soccer game, setting itself apart from traditional sports titles by offering “full physics-based ball movement and passing”. Players will have to work with each other to create opportunities to score and then prevent the opposition from scoring.

If you’ve watched the trailer above, you’ll see that the familiarities with Rocket League are obvious, right down to the blue and orange colouring. According to a press release sent out today, however, it’s also inspired by the likes of ARMS and Super Mario Kart.

“Inspired by the likes of “Arms”, “Super Mario Kart” and “Rocket League”, the player will experience exciting and intense competition in Super Buckyball Tournament. There are eight unique heroes to choose from, and each hero has a unique power to pass, score, or attack the opposing team’s players. Items will also randomly spawn during a game to give the player an extra boost during play. These include shields, homing missiles, bombs, and more! The game simulates real-time physics and collisions. Teams with good teamwork will have an advantage!”

Super1
Super2

Pathea Games says that the game will hit Early Access on Steam in late 2019, before receiving full support for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch when the game is fully released.

What do you think? An interesting concept? Share your thoughts with us below.
