Stasis Spotlight: Titan Behemoth

Welcome to this edition in our series of spotlight articles
where we’re examining Stasis via each of the three Guardian classes in Destiny
2
. In our previous edition, we featured the Warlock Shadebinder. Here, we’re getting to know the Titan Behemoth.

Titan. Smash. Two things that simply go hand in hand. There
are few combat situations in Destiny 2 that can’t be solved – or at
least made better – by a quick Titan punch to the face. When Beyond Light
is released this November, Guardians who prefer the Titan class will discover a
new subset of Stasis powers that allows them to harness the power of Darkness.
And yes, fisticuffs will be part of it. But it’s not the entire story.

As we discussed in our previous edition of this series, each
Stasis subclass will embody a facet of Stasis. Warlock Shadebinders emphasize
freezing enemies and, as you’ll learn more about next week, the Hunter Revenant
is a specialist at slowing the action down. The Titan Behemoth uses Stasis as a
means of both creation and destruction.

With the Behemoth, we wanted to put an emphasis on the
ability to use Stasis to create crystals that can alter the battle by changing the
very ground beneath your feet. Control the ground, control the fight. As a
result, the Behemoth can use their Stasis abilities defensively – such as
creating crystalline walls to block enemies and gunfire – or offensively, by
using crystals to freeze enemies.

The Titan Behemoth can unleash a powerful melee attack known
as the Shiver Strike. Here, the Titan lunges forward, launched by a Stasis
explosion at their feet to propel them towards an enemy. While in mid-air, they
summon a Stasis gauntlet that covers their fist and then slam into their foe,
sending them careening backwards and slowing nearby enemies.

The Behemoth’s Super, Glacial Quake, begins with the Titan
forming a mighty gauntlet on their fist. They can then slam the gauntlet into the
ground, sending out shockwaves that form Stasis crystals which freeze nearby
enemies. Covered in an armor of Stasis crystals, the Titan temporarily becomes
an unstoppable wrecking machine, able to jump higher, faster, and farther, all
while blasting enemies with greatly increased melee attacks.

If frozen enemies are the bowling pins, think of the Titan
Behemoth during their Glacial Quake Super as the bowling ball, able to
instantly shatter enemies as they sprint or slide through them. Running amok in
a crowd of bad guys and shattering them like a perfect tenpin strike is a fine
strategy but there’s a degree of subtlety there too, if you want it. For example, you can cancel out of a slide into a massive Stasis-powered
leap, only to cancel that just at the right moment and direct the
Behemoth downward into a devastating slam. So punch if you must, but know that
Stasis has plenty more to offer you, Titan.

Next week, we’ll be going deeper into Stasis with our look
at the third and final subclass, the Hunter Revenant. How do you make the
quickest class even more deadly? By slowing down everything around them, that’s
how!

Come back on September 8 to learn more and check out the Stasis hub page
in the meantime.

Stasis Spotlight: Warlock Shadebinder

Welcome to the first in a series of Stasis spotlight
articles, where we’ll be taking a look at Stasis via each of the three Guardian
classes in Destiny 2. Stasis is the first new elemental power to Destiny
since the original trio of Arc, Solar, and Void, and its introduction in Beyond
Light
will have ramifications for players across all aspects of the game,
from narrative to combat  , to the way in which players will customize their
Guardians.

Each Guardian class will feature a new Stasis subclass with Beyond
Light
and, as you might expect, each class will use Stasis in a unique way.
Stasis is the domain of control; an elemental power that is less about outright
aggression and more about careful control of enemy combatants and space — sometimes
even using the powers of Stasis in a defensive way. Hunters zipping by in the
blink of an eye while slowing down opponents in Stasis fields. Titans smashing
their fists to the ground, launching jagged eruptions of Stasis crystals from
the earth.

No matter which class you prefer, Stasis will change the way
you play Destiny 2

By commanding Stasis in Beyond Light, players will
have access to new powers that change their approach to a fight. In combat,
Stasis can manifest in multiple ways, including freezing or slowing opponents,
creating crystalline Stasis structures, and even shattering frozen combatants.
This range of options give players more ability to control large-scale fights
than ever before.

No class embodies the concept of “freezing” better than the
Warlock Shadebinder. Imbued by Stasis energy, the Shadebinder can summon a
Stasis staff that fires projectiles which can freeze opponents, immediately
rendering them immobile. The Shadebinder’s Penumbral Blast melee attack is a quick
burst of Stasis energy that erupts from the staff and instantly freezes anyone it
hits. From there, the Warlock can either deal with the frozen foes, or leave
them be and move on to other more immediate threats.

If you’re looking to combine freezing with destruction, look
no further than the Shadebinder’s Super: Winter’s Wrath. Here, the Shadebinder summons their Stasis staff and fires projectiles that instantly freeze
opponents. The second stage begins (and the fight ends) when the Guardian raises
the staff, detonates its Stasis crystal and sends a devastating Shatter
Shockwave that disintegrates nearby frozen opponents.

Customizing Stasis

If you’ve played Destiny for long enough, you know
that choosing the right subclass for each situation can be crucial to the
outcome of a fight. Titans have their bubbles, Warlocks have their Wells;
skilled Guardians know how important those abilities can be in a pinch. With Beyond
Light
and Stasis, we’re giving you even more flexibility to customize your
subclass to your style of play.

Each Stasis subclass in Beyond Light will give
players the ability to customize abilities like grenades, movement modes, class
abilities, and so on with. In addition, we’ve added new layers of customization
with the addition of Aspects and Fragments

Aspects manifest as physical items in the world (such as a
crystallized Vex conflux or a robotic Fallen arm, for example). When slotted
in, Aspects will offer players new abilities, among other effects. These
abilities can be mixed and matched freely by the player. Many Aspects will have
space for Fragments to be slotted in. Fragments are also physical items you can
discover in the world that, when applied to Aspects, offer additional passive
perks such as stat bonuses that may come with penalties. Aspect upgrades are
unique to each Stasis subclass, while Fragment slots are class agnostic; how
players combine these two different types of upgrades will lead to a range
of customization options.

For example, a Warlock finds a Frostpulse Aspect in the
world and equips it. This Aspect augments their Rift ability, which now freezes
any enemies caught in the field. The Frostpulse Aspect also has a Fragment slot
available, allowing further customization. This Warlock decides to slot in the
Whisper of Refraction Fragment that replenishes some of their class ability
energy upon shattering enemies. They have now set themselves up with a nice 1-2
punch and, if played skillfully, can use this combo frequently.
With its focus on freezing and shattering, the Shadebinder subclass promises to give Guardians yet another reason to love their
floaty, book-loving Warlocks. But no matter what class you like, all players
will be able to take advantage of Aspects and Fragments that unlock even more
ways to make your Guardian yours.
In our next article, coming this Thursday, we’ll be pointing
the Stasis spotlight at the class that loves to punch first and ask questions
later: the Titan Behemoth. In the meantime, check out the Stasis hub page to learn more about Stasis.

This Week At Bungie – 8/27/2020

This week at Bungie, we gave a chilling new look at Stasis.

It feels like just yesterday you were getting your first look at Stasis. Today during a virtual gamescom, we took a deeper look, introducing you to the Hunter Revenant, Titan Behemoth, and Warlock Shadebinder subclasses. There’s quite a bit to chew on. How do the new grenades work? What about melee attacks? What are those things that the Hunter just threw? This is just the start.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be releasing additional details through Dev Diaries, and updates to the Bungie.net/Stasis page. First update is planned for September 1. Set your calendar reminders accordingly.

An Early Patch Note Preview

Usually, we have quick previews of patches the week before they’re released. Even though Destiny 2 Update 2.9.2 isn’t slated until September 8, we want to give an early preview of a few fixes and changes coming your way. Stay tuned to @BungieHelp for final timelines, as the date may shift if any issues are found.

Solstice of Heroes: Ornament Glows

Shortly after Solstice went live, we became aware of a difference between how the universal armor glow bundle icon was depicted and how it visually performed in the game. After investigating the issue, we felt the difference between them was too vast. We have revisited the glow intensity of these ornaments and enhanced the in-game appearance to match the icon as closely as possible.

Sleeper Nodes

With additional Destiny Content Vault details available, we’re seeing many players returning to content released in the earlier years of Destiny 2. Some players are hunting Triumphs, while others are focusing on rewards. One of these rewards is the unique emblem players unlock after collecting all the available Sleeper Nodes introduced in Destiny 2: Warmind.

Due to the way that the Sleeper Nodes were created, we are unable to completely remove the possibility of receiving duplicate Override Frequencies, but we are making some improvements to greatly reduce the odds of receiving a duplicate. The following tips will help you avoid duplicates and acquire those final elusive nodes.

  • When combining Resonate Stems, it is very unlikely that the resulting Override Frequency will unlock a node in your current area. For example, if you need to unlock a node in Heatsink, you should leave Heatsink before creating an Override Frequency.
  • Destiny 2 has an internal checklist of nodes you have unlocked. This checklist is separate from the count you see in game, and prior to this fix, the checklist would frequently be cleared. Clearing this checklist is the reason duplicates were so common. Going forward, the checklist will never be cleared.
      • Note: If you create an Override Frequency for a node that you have opened in the past, you should open the node again instead of deleting the Override Frequency. This will allow the internal checklist to be updated, and help prevent future duplicates.

In different terms, the team has created a form of “bad luck protection” for Sleeper Nodes, but the tracking is starting fresh. Get hunting, and you’ll be unlocking a unique emblem before you know it.

Assorted Fixes and Changes

  • Fixing an issue where player spawn effects would freeze in Gambit.
  • Fixing an issue where the ADS on the Cold Denial Season Pass ornament was different than the base weapon model.
  • Redrix’s Broadsword will now be available to reclaim from Collections.
      • Note: This will be locked to the first roll rewarded when completing the Broadsword quest.
  • Spider will begin offering three weekly “Wanted” adventure bounties, up from one.
  • Fixing an issue that prevented the Exotic perk on the Merciless Fusion Rifle from triggering.

We have a few more general bug fixes slated for this update as well. Player Support will have a final preview of bugs to be resolved next week, followed by the full list of patch notes when the update goes live.

See you in two weeks!

Resolution

Over the last week, Destiny Player Support has been working with various teams at Bungie to resolve a few high priority issues. First up, dishing out some rightly earned Bright Dust to players who completed Solstice bounties. Second, a fix for one of our more notorious error codes. Read on for details!

Solstice Bounties

In Hotfix 2.9.1.3, we resolved an issue where weekly and repeatable Solstice of Heroes bounties did not grant Bright Dust rewards upon completion. We have since granted Bright Dust to the first wave of affected players, and will be sending out a second grant in the near future.

Error Code TAPIR

We have resolved an issue causing players to encounter error code TAPIR when they try to launch Destiny 1 while they have a Twitch account linked to their Bungie.net account.

Current Known Issues

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:
      • Some EAZ Weekly Challenges don’t show up at the weekly reset.
      • Some Bungie Rewards codes are not working on the EU Bungie Store.
      • We are investigating TURTLE errors on Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 for players on CenturyLink.
For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

Sound and String

It’s come to our attention that we issued a duplicate Honorable Mention last week for a showcase of Tex Mechanica weaponry. While you can hardly blame us for celebrating awesome content like that, we need to make up for it this week. We have a few extra winners to show. Top of the list, we’ve got some great musical talents on display. Hope you enjoy!

Movie of the Week: Journey – Violin Cover

Honorable Mention: Curse of Osiris Meets Metal

Honorable Mention: Fall Guardians

Honorable Mention: The complete opposite of the previous Honorable Mention

Honorable Mention: POP THE BUBBLES

If you want to take a chance and aim for glory, submit your video to the Creations page. If something you’ve created is still pending approval, don’t worry! Submissions can take a bit of time to process as we have a lot of footage to get through.

If one of these videos belongs to you, congrats! Now make sure you have your Bungie.net profile in the description of said video so we can send out your prize emblem.

Summer is fading. The days are getting shorter and even a bit darker in our neck of the woods. An evening chill is beginning to creep into the air. It’s the perfect mood for Stasis subclasses to enter the realm of Destiny 2, and for our first steps on Europa in November. Just a few short months stand between you and Beyond Light.

Cheers,

-dmg04

This Week at Bungie – 8/20/20

This week at Bungie, we are sharing more details on the DCV.

Back in June, we introduced the concept of the Destiny Content Vault (DCV), an approach to evolving the game that will allow us to add new content, bring back some of Destiny’s greatest hits from the past, and support Destiny 2 for years to come.

As a quick refresher, when Year 4 kicks off on November 10th, Io, Titan, Mars, Mercury, and Leviathan will all enter the Destiny Content Vault to make room for Cosmodrome’s return and Europa’s debut.

Since announcing the DCV, we know there have been a lot of questions about what’s going away and how game systems will evolve to reflect the more dynamic nature of Destiny 2’s future.

Most questions are answered by this rule of thumb, “When a destination goes into the DCV, so too do its PvE activities and associated rewards.” But there are some edge cases and we want to be crystal clear with players about the details of what’s staying and what’s going so there is no confusion, and everyone can prepare.

Today we’re going to explore what Destiny 2 will look like on November 10. Then, we’re going to spend some time helping you plan your gameplay to finish up your quests, earn your Triumphs, and complete your collections before November 10.

Core Activities

Up first are the core repeatable activities of Destiny 2: strikes, Crucible, Gambit, raids, and dungeons.

Strikes

This one is covered entirely by the standard Vaulting rule of thumb. As a destination is Vaulted, its strikes enter the DCV.

Available Strikes on November 10 Moving into the DCV
EDZ

  • The Arms Dealer
  • Lake of Shadows
Io

  • The Pyramidion
  • The Festering Core
Nessus

  • Inverted Spire
  • Exodus Crash
  • Insight Terminus
Titan

  • Savathûn’s Song
Tangled Shore

  • Warden of Nothing
  • The Hallowed Lair
  • Broodhold
Mars

  • Strange Terrain
  • Will of the Thousands
Dreaming City

  • The Corrupted
Mercury

  • Tree of Probabilities
  • A Garden World
Moon

  • The Scarlet Keep
Cosmodrome*

  • Will of Crota
Europa

  • [Redacted]

*Destiny’s Devil’s Lair and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. are coming out of the Vault in Year 4.

Gambit and Gambit Prime

As a reminder, Gambit and Gambit Prime will be merging into a single experience when Year 4 kicks off on November 10.  The new version of Gambit will be similar to Gambit Prime as a single round face off with tweaked Blockers, heavier mote drain, and some changes to the Primeval fight. We will give more details on these updates before the revamped mode goes live next Season.

Unlike strikes and other PvE content, the Year 4 Gambit playlist map selection is a “best of” list (and is one of those edge cases we mentioned above). We felt it was important to keep the select Gambit maps in rotation for the best competitive play (regardless of their destination’s fictional state).

Available Gambit Maps on November 10 Moving into the DCV
  • Emerald Coast (EDZ)
  • Legions Folly (Nessus)
  • Deep Six (Titan)
  • New Arcadia (Mars)
  • Cathedral of Scars (Dreaming City)
  • Kell’s Grave (Tangled Shore)

Note: As we perform maintenance on the activity, Gambit Prime armor perks will be deprecated. We are exploring ways to rebalance and reintroduce some of these perks as armor mods in the future. Alongside these changes, we’ll be rotating some maps into the DCV, while retaining popular arenas for the mode.

Crucible

Like Gambit, the new Crucible map playlist will be a curated “best of” mix and will be pulled from both Destiny 1 and 2’s legacy. Here is a look at the planned rotation in Year 4 as well as the maps being Vaulted.

Available PvP Maps on November 10 Moving into the DCV
  • Destiny
      • Bannerfall
      • Exodus Blue
      • Rusted Lands
      • Twilight Gap
  • Destiny 2
      • Altar of Flame
      • The Anomaly
      • The Burnout
      • Cauldron
      • Convergence
      • The Dead Cliffs
      • Distant Shore
      • Endless Vale
      • The Fortress
      • Fragment
      • Javelin-4
      • Midtown
      • Pacifica
      • Radiant Cliffs
      • Widow’s Court
      • Wormhaven
  • Meltdown
  • Solitude
  • Retribution
  • The Citadel
  • Emperor’s Respite
  • Equinox
  • Eternity
  • Firebase Echo
  • Gambler’s Ruin
  • Legion’s Gulch
  • Vostok

As Year 4 starts, we’re also taking the opportunity to focus the Crucible experience by reducing the number of PvP playlists and modes to those that receive the most play. This will increase the matchmaking pools for the remaining playlists and make it easier to find matches with better connections. We’ll have a full preview of Crucible changes later this Season, but here’s a preview of modes that will be active, and modes that will be transitioning into the DCV:

Available PvP Modes on November 10 Moving into the DCV
  • Rumble
  • Clash
  • Control
      • Iron Banner Control
  • Elimination
      • Trials of Osiris
  • Showdown
  • Survival
  • Mayhem Clash
  • Supremacy
  • Countdown
  • Lockdown
  • Breakthrough
  • Doubles
  • Momentum Control*
  • Scorched*

Note:  Expect Momentum Control and Scorched to return from the DCV at some time during Year 4.

Trials of Osiris Note

In case it’s not clear from the note above, the Trials of Osiris experience is not impacted by other content moving into the DCV this year. The Lighthouse will continue to be available to those who are able to complete a Flawless passage.

Raids and Dungeons

No dungeons will be rotating into the DCV this November, as all dungeon-hosting destinations will remain active in the game during Year 4. Note that the Prophecy dungeon will become temporarily unavailable for a brief period to allow our team to make a necessary technical update. Expect details on dates and timing soon.

Available Dungeons on November 10 Moving into the DCV
  • Shattered Throne (Dreaming City)
  • Pit of Heresy (Moon)
  • Prophecy*

Like strikes, raids follow the simple Vaulting rule: as a destination enters the DCV, so too do its raids.

Available Raids on November 10 Moving into the DCV
  • [Redacted]
  • Last Wish (Dreaming City)
  • Garden of Salvation (Black Garden)
  • Leviathan
  • Eater of Worlds (Leviathan)
  • Spire of Stars (Leviathan)
  • Scourge of the Past (Last City)
  • Crown of Sorrows (Leviathan)

Anticipating players would want to grab the coveted raid rewards and Triumphs before they enter the Vault. This year’s Moments of Triumph currently features the five raids being added to the DCV with the reward lockouts removed to make grinding them extra… well, rewarding. If you’re looking to earn your Raid Ring, Moments of Triumph Seal, or just finish collecting the last few items for your collection, you have the rest of the Season to jump in with your friends and close out strong.

We also plan to bring the Vault of Glass out of the DCV and into Destiny 2 for the first time at some point during Year 4.

Completing Your Collection

Exotic Quests

As content enters the DCV, there will be some Exotic quests that can obviously no longer be completed in their original forms. Those quests will be retired on November 10 and incomplete progress abandoned.

If you want to acquire these Exotics via their original quests, do so prior to the end of the Season of Arrivals:

  • Sturm
  • MIDA Multi-tool
  • Rat King
  • Legend of Acrius
  • Sleeper Simulant
  • Polaris Lance
  • Worldline Zero
  • Ace of Spades
  • The Last Word
  • Le Monarque
  • Jotunn
  • Izanagi’s Burden
  • Thorn
  • Lumina
  • Truth
  • Bad Juju

None of these legacy Exotics are being retired from Destiny 2. Their original acquisition journeys are simply entering the DCV alongside their supporting destination and activity content.

We still want new and existing players to be able to earn these legacy Exotics, so starting in Year 4, any Exotic tied to a quest that has been Vaulted (like those listed above) will now become available through a new Memorial kiosk situated among the Vault kiosks in the Tower. We’ll have more information later this Season on how the Exotic Archive works, and how to earn any Exotics that you don’t get your hands on before Year 4.

Now, you may be asking “Hey, what about catalysts previously acquired through content that’s now in the DCV?” Here is a list of catalysts that are going into the DCV and will be unavailable to earn starting in Season 12.

Available Catalysts on November 10 Moving into the DCV
  • Ace of Spades
  • Black Talon
  • Borealis
  • Cerberus+1

  • Polaris Lance
  • Skyburner’s Oath
  • Sleeper Simulant*
  • Telesto*
  • Outbreak Perfected*
  • Whisper of the Worm*
  • Worldline Zero*

If you have these catalysts already equipped and their objectives completed, you can continue using them at your leisure. If you already have any catalysts with an asterisk, make sure you finish completing the necessary objective to apply it as the objective will no longer be available at the end of Season of Arrivals.

All of these catalysts will come out of the Vault and be made available with new objectives(if needed) in a future Season.

But You Still Didn’t Answer My Question!

Q. What goes away when a destination is Vaulted?

A. When a destination enters the DCV, its PvE content will no longer be available. Explicitly, this includes their unique:

  • Story missions and cinematics
  • Strikes (detailed above)
  • Raids (detailed above)
  • Dungeons (detailed above)
  • Adventures
  • Secret missions
  • Vendors and associated bounties
  • Destination-specific patrols
  • Collectables & scannables
  • Destination-specific activities (Ex: Mercury’s Forge, Mars’ Escalation Protocol)
  • Freely roaming the destinations themselves, exploring Lost Sectors, etc.

Q. What will new Guardians experience if the Year 1 campaigns are going away?

A. With some of the core Year 1 destinations entering the Vault, it’s true that the free-for-all-players Red War, Curse of Osiris, and Warmind campaigns will no longer be playable.

We are building a new, expanded Guardian origin story on the Cosmodrome that will launch alongside Year 4 and will be available to all Guardians to play. It is designed to introduce you to the world and mechanics of Destiny and prepare you to play the action MMO game we all enjoy. The Forsaken and Shadowkeep story campaigns will still be playable in Year 4 for owners of those expansions.

Q. What’s happening to The Whisper and Zero Hour secret missions and their Exotic rewards?

A. The Whisper is entering the Vault alongside Io, and so too is Zero Hour (given the old Tower was part of the Red War campaign and which is also entering the Vault). Their Exotic weapon rewards will not be acquirable until we find a new way to reintroduce them, so if you’re keen to get them, make sure you do that now!

Q. With the Forsaken campaign, Tangled Shore, and Dreaming City sticking around after Beyond Light’s launch, does that mean other Year 2 Seasonal content will remain playable in Year 4 too?

A. No. The Year 2 Seasonal content – including Forges, Reckoning, and Menagerie – will be entering the DCV on November 10. Be sure to experience that content and mark the final items off your collections and checklists before they are Vaulted. Here’s a cheat sheet of what to complete:

  • Ada-1, Black Armory, and Season of the Forge quests.
  • Gambit Prime, Reckoning, and Season of the Drifter quests.
  • Benedict-66, Werner 99-40, Menagerie, and Season of Opulence quests.
  • Pinnacle and pursuit weapon quests.
      • Note: These weapons will receive an alternate acquisition method. More details to come later this Season.
We have no doubt that you’ll have more questions on what’s coming and going this fall. We’ll be sharing more updates and Destiny Player Support will always have the latest updates available in our help archives. Here is a link to our DPS article that shares more details on the DCV.

Pardon Our Dust

Our Player Support team is tracking new issues as well as the updates to fix them.

This is their report.

SOLSTICE BOUNTIES

In today’s Hotfix 2.9.1.3, we resolved an issue where weekly and repeatable Solstice of Heroes bounties did not grant Bright Dust rewards upon completion. Solstice bounties will now award the following amounts of Bright Dust on completion alongside their other rewards:

Weekly Bounty: 200 Bright Dust per bounty.

Repeatable Bounty: 10 Bright Dust per bounty.

We are currently investigating a solution for players who missed out on Bright Dust rewards from bounty completions prior to the Hotfix, and will be granting Bright Dust to affected players in the near future.

MEANS TO AN END

With Hotfix 2.9.1.3 we have resolved an issue causing the weekly Means to an End quest to be deleted off of players, preventing them from collecting their weekly Pinnacle reward.
Players who still encounter issues with the quest should report to our #Help forum

EAZ WEEKLY CHALLENGES

Earlier this week we disabled the EAZ Weekly challenges due to an issue preventing players from receiving Powerful Gear rewards upon completion. This issue should now be resolved, and the EAZ Weekly challenges re-enabled for all players.

Players who continue to encounter issues with the challenges should report to our #Help Forum.

KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum
  • The armor glows on the Magnificent Solstice armor sets and ornaments are less intense than intended.
  • Upgrading from the Majestic to the Magnificent Solstice armor set can result in a slight Power level reduction
  • The Hunter Solstice Vest creates a gap at the waist of the female character model when used with certain leg armor.
  • The Solstice glows on male Hunters aren’t aligned on the right knee.
  • The Renewed Solstice Triumph incorrectly states it unlocks after earning a Majestic Solstice set, when it actually requires a Magnificent Solstice set.

Places Everyone

Let’s watch some movies, yea? We’re lucky to have so many talented members of our community cutting together creative videos each week and love showing them off. The rules are simple, the winners get an emblem, and don’t tell DeeJ about the carton of milk I left under his desk before quarantine began. Here are the winners.

Movie of the Week:  Bikro Mini

Honorable Mention:  Space Cowboy

Congratulations to all the winners. Please make sure you have your Bungie.net profile in the description of your video so we can send you your emblems.

Its been a busy week. Solstice rolls on as Guardians collect their armor and explore the EAZ. We gave you another look at the Destiny Content Vault and what changes to expect next season. We’re sure you have more questions. We will have more info to share before the end of the Season. See you next week.

Community Focus – Uhmaayyze

Our focus this week is a hype man who streams Destiny in front of a lively crowd. He’s all about positive vibes and creating a great atmosphere for his community. He’s also been known to drop bombs

Please meet Uhmaayyze.

Alright let’s get into it. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what first got you into gaming.

UM: My name is Uhmaayyze and most people consider me the best hype man on Twitch. I’m a positive and uplifting yet motivational individual who loves to see others vibe or smile. What first got me into gaming was a game called Legend of Legaia that came out on PlayStation.

And where can we find your hype and vibes on the internet?

Let’s go back. When did you first start becoming active in the community? What was your motivation to get more involved?

UM: I started becoming active with the community way back in Destiny 1. My motivation was to provide a space and vibe for the community. I got more in tune with my community once we started sharing stories. We became a family called The Home of Vibes.

What has been your favorite subclass and weapons to use while vibing?

UM: My favorite subclass is top-tree Dawnblade and weapon is Izanagi’s Burden.

Fine choices. Tell us about your channel, what kind of content can we find there.

UM: We are family friendly but we vibe to the max. I’m a freestyle gamer. We have fun, we show love, and share love in the chat—which has now become The Home of Vibes. We do all kinds of content from raid help to Trials help. My mission is to make sure you are having a great time in chat and keep it positive.

What has been your favorite Destiny moment over the last few years?

UM: Leaving my stream and going outside to yell “I FINALLY GOT 1K!” Best moment ever.

Anything else you would like to add while you’re here?

UM: Don’t let anyone stop you from achieving your goals in life. Keep your head up, your vibes strong, and your mind popping because at the end of the day only you will know you always kept pushing forward.

We’d like to thank Uhmaayyze for stopping by to say hi and for talking about him and his channel. It’s always great hearing about someone spreading positive vibes in the community. Make sure you stop by his chat sometime
We’re always on the hunt for our next Community Focus. If you have any suggestions on who we should focus on next let us know us on Twitter or our forums.

This Week At Bungie – 8/13/2020

This week at Bungie, we kicked off Solstice of Heroes.

If you’re anything like us, you’re probably neck deep in Majestic armor, smashing through the Solstice of Heroes event. Our yearly celebration of Guardians near and far has begun. Solar, Arc, and Void have each taken a turn in the daily rotation of elemental damage. A few of you have already completed the majority of objectives towards your first Magnificent armor set, and are already off to the races on your alternate classes.

Tomorrow, Trials of Osiris will return at 10 AM PT. Seven wins might be all that’s standing between you and your Magnificent glow. Form your fireteam, grab your bounties, and get ready for a fight.

Before we get deeper in the TWAB, we’ve been seeing some questions on rewards for Solstice 2020 in comparison to years past. Let’s take a moment to clear up some confusion.

Last year, a Legendary Sparrow was available to anyone who fully Masterworked every armor piece for all three classes. We got quite a bit of feedback that this felt a little too grindy for a limited-time event. This year, we shifted focus to the individual Solstice of Heroes sets that you’ll be investing time in over the next few weeks. Rather than a single reward after completing the armor on all three characters, we’re providing a free glow when earning the Magnificent armor sets, per class.

Additionally, we’re seeing some players asking why Magnificent armor isn’t fully Masterworked when earned. This year, our approach was to give players a new path to earn high-stat rolled armor pieces outside of raids. As these armor sets have a Max Power Cap of 1,360, they’ll also have a lifespan that lasts through multiple seasons. End result: Players can spend their time finding that perfect roll through Solstice packages for the duration of Solstice of Heroes. Even after the event has concluded, players can Masterwork their armor pieces at their leisure, and finish up some of their final Majestic objectives to unlock their glow.

As a final note: Obtaining Majestic armor sets will grant progress bonuses on your other classes. So, if you’re like me and got your Magnificent Hunter set already, you’ll have a 2x progress bonus for your next character’s Renewed and Majestic armor objectives. Once you finish that character up, your third (and maybe final) character will have a 3x progress bonus for armor objectives. Pretty sweet, huh? With this change compared to last year’s event, we’re expecting to see more players getting all three sets.

We’ll be watching the conversation for the duration of the event, so be sure to sound off with feedback as you fly through the EAZ!

Bungie Foundation Update

It’s hard to believe that Bungie Day was a month ago. Time is flying by! We’ve been eager to give an update from the Bungie Foundation, concerning the Empathic Ghost Shell and the Bungie Foundation Emblem charity initiatives that were available. Senior Foundation Manager Christine Edwards is here today to share the details:

Christine: Last month we celebrated Bungie Day, a beloved tradition that celebrates the best of our community – the camaraderie, the competition, and the care we all have for one another. This year we invited you to incorporate charitable giving into your festivities and you all stepped up in a big way!

We unlocked two unique ways to participate, first through direct donations and second through in-game purchases in the Eververse store. Because of each of you, we raised $602,204.31 in donations and $555,639.06 from the Empathetic Ghost shell, for a whopping $1,157,843.37! Every single dollar will go directly to helping kids in children’s hospitals across the country by bringing them engaging digital entertainment that will brighten their day, make their treatments a little bit more bearable, and will remind them that even during hard times, their number one job is to play, smile, and be a kid.

As the parent of one of our patients put it, “[iPads for Kids] has made the experience more like home. It has helped keep King engaged and distracted from the pain.”

Another parent told us, “Draven is three years old and has been in the hospital for ATRT in his brain since December 29, 2019. Draven just loves the iPad; it has helped him in so many ways. When he cries and we give him the iPad he stops crying. There’s been times where he will fall asleep playing the iPad.”

Each one of you who has given generously to the iPads for Kids program over the past few years has played a direct role in creating smiles, hope, and laughter for kids like King and Draven, along with hundreds of thousands of other kids just like them.

Thank you.

Time and time again, you come together to show the world what Guardians stand for. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being one of the best communities in this solar system.

Feeling Fashionable?

With some new Majestic armor sets in the game, we’d be crazy if we didn’t host another fashion show. For those new to the conversation, every so often we challenge players to strut their stuff in the wilds of Destiny 2. Mixing shaders, armor pieces, Exotics, and ornaments to find the perfect set, and bonus points to those who find the perfect destination for their photo shoot. If you’re selected, you’ll walk home with a fancy emblem for your troubles.

Solstice is a celebration, and we’re excited to highlight your fashion sense. Glow up, embrace your Arc, Solar, or Void side, and send some screenshots to @Bungie on Twitter with the hashtag #SolsticeFashionShow. We’ll be retweeting winners through Thursday, August 20.

Now, it wouldn’t be a fashion show without theming:

  • Players must be wearing at least one Solstice of Heroes armor piece (Renewed, Majestic, or Magnificent).
      • No Glows are required.
  • Players must take a picture on any destination to qualify.
      • In other words, an image of your Guardian in the character inspection screen won’t be considered!

Well, what are you waiting for? It’s go time! See you out there on the runway.

Dusted

With Solstice fresh on the mind, Player Support has been diving deep in the Help forums, looking for fresh issues to diagnose. Missing bright dust on bounties, inconsistent objective progress, and a few other minor issues have been discovered.

This is their report.

MISSING EMBLEM CONTACT FORM

Players can be eligible to receive Destiny 2 emblems by winning Bungie community contests, purchasing items in the Bungie Store, or by donating to one of the Bungie Foundation’s charity campaigns. Sometimes players don’t receive their emblem for one reason or another, so we’ve created a specific contact form to help them obtain their emblem.

We will help players with emblem issues from the following contests or campaigns:

    • Bungie Bounty (Aurora Clash)
    • Movie of the Week (Anamnesis)
    • Outstanding Artists (Aspect of Luminance)
    • Fashion Show (The Levante Prize)
    • Bungie Store
    • Bungie Foundation or Charity Drive

Before requesting help through the contact form, please note:

    • Players must wait at least 15 days from a qualifying contest win or charity campaign.
    • Players should first check their Spam/Junk email folder for any emails that may have their emblem code.
    • Players should check their Collections > Flair > General section for the emblem.

SOLSTICE BOUNTIES AND BRIGHT DUST

Shortly after Solstice of Heroes launched, Destiny Player Support became aware of an issue where weekly and repeatable bounties for the event were not giving Bright Dust as intended. We are currently investigating solutions to this issue. We are also investigating a solution for those who missed out on earning Bright Dust from these bounties during this time and will be granting Bright Dust to affected players as soon as we can. You can continue to complete and redeem your Solstice of Heroes bounties normally.

KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:
    • We are aware of an issue where Gambit Prime will not count for Solstice armor with Gambit objectives.
    • We are aware of an issue where Nightfall: The Ordeals will not count for Solstice armor with strike objectives.
    • We are investigating reports of doubled progression progress on Solstice objectives not working for some players.
    • We are aware of an issue where the Majestic Solstice Bond for Warlocks has an objective that incorrectly states to get 150 Guardian Super kills. The objective progresses correctly with Arc Super kills against any enemy.
    • We are investigating an issue where shaders do not properly apply to the Majestic and Magnificent Robes for Warlocks.
    • We are investigating an issue where shaders do not properly apply to the Majestic and Magnificent Cloaks for Hunters.
For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

Sunblock

Here in the States, we’re in the thick of summer. Temperatures have risen, the Sun is out a little more often in Seattle, and we’re slowly losing our minds one bead of sweat a time. Many of us are hiding in our living rooms with air conditioners on full blast. No better time to sit back and watch some community creations.

Movie of the Week: 14 Reasons to get Excited for Solstice

Honorable Mention: F is for Flawless (but not really flawless)

Honorable Mention: Space Cowboy – Tex Mechanica Approved

I love nothing more than a montage of Tex Mechanica weaponry being used to dominate the Crucible. Think you’ve got better clips? Submit a video to the Creations page. Maybe you’ll win next week. Maybe you won’t. All we know is, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

This is one of those weeks where I’m staying up past midnight to get some sweet loot. It’s been nice jumping through older adventures while completing my Solstice armor, or finishing orb requirements through random activities like raids or Zero Hour.

No matter what you play, you’ll gain progress towards an objective or two. Longer goals, like “Play 10 Gambit matches,” I’ve been doing at my own pace. A few matches here or there, then shifting to something else to keep things fresh.

For some of you, this is a race. For others, it’s a nice stroll through memory lane. However you’re tackling Solstice, we hope you’re having fun. Have a great weekend, and we’ll see you again soon.

Yum yum yum yum yum,

Community Focus: Drexis

I reckon’ it’s about time to feature one of the fastest animators in the west. You may have recently seen some of his animation work in a pretty awesome montage, or in a few cool images floating about on Twitter. But if you’ve had the high-noon sun in your eyes and haven’t seen any of their work, prepare for some beauty.

Enter: Drexis.

Welcome to the Community Focus. Tell us a bit about yourself.

Drexis: I’m honored to be here. For starters, hello there! My name is Drexler, and I’m most known online for my Destiny themed animation projects and 3D art, like my cinematic video “Collapse”:

I love space, lore, memes, and music (little known fact, I actually play guitar!). I started playing Destiny in 2015, on Christmas day. Though, I had been eyeing the game for about a year before that. Once I got into it, my best friend and I would play almost every day. I’m still addicted! Other than my hobbies and Destiny obsession, I hang out with my brother and sister, and my doggo, Shasta. She’s super sweet.

While I admit I’d seen you around these parts for some time, you definitely caught my eye with a certain… Vex piece. How’d you get into animation?

Drexis: I started animation with Minecraft animations when I was 12 years old. I was so very bad at it in those early years. I made some friends online that were better than me at everything in 3D. A few of them are still my friends actually – shout-out to Harry, who participates in my present-day clan shenanigans in Destiny 2! Anyway, I was a ‘Minecraft animator’ until early 2018, when I saw a YouTube video featuring some Destiny animations by Sami Glitch. I had been playing Destiny for a few years so I leaped at the opportunity to make Destiny-themed animations. I started learning more about 3D, more about art and animation, than I ever had previously. Destiny inspired me to want to pursue a career in 3D art, and I still hope to someday soon.

Have any examples of your work from the early days? Show us how you’ve grown since you started.

Drexis: Back when I made the creations below, I was hand-texturing low-poly game models myself, and the quality suffered quite a bit from my lack of 3D knowledge at the time. Here’s some of my earliest Destiny renders and animations for your viewing pleasure. Warning though, you might need to bleach your eyes out after viewing:

“Ghost doesn’t like being called small” (Animation)

Ace

Guardian

These days, I have better stuff in my portfolio, but I couldn’t have gotten here without those ugly first renders, those wonky first animations. Here’s some more recent stuff:

“Emergence” Destiny 2 Montage

“Awaken” Destiny 2 Montage

And some renders:

Oh, and as Dmg called out above, I also put a tiny hat on a Vex.

One of our editors left a note during our approval process that “Emergence” is one of the “sickest” montages they’ve seen. Good work! What piece of Destiny or Destiny 2 has inspired you most while doing your work?

Drexis: Oh boy, there’s too much inspiration to even list it all. Dreaming City, Cosmodrome, the Nine’s pocket realm inside Drifter’s… what? Asteroid? Giant meatball? Not sure what it is, but it looks really cool in there. I love Destiny’s art direction and all the concepts presented, even the ones that didn’t quite make it to the game, I sometimes get lost browsing hundreds of concept pieces by Bungie’s talented artists. I know many have said it before, but it would be a dream to work at Bungie and get to know the folks behind the space magic.

At this point, it should be expected that we ask you about your loadout. I always love to see which tools of destruction are preferred by artistic minds.

Drexis: Falling Guillotine is my favorite weapon in Destiny 2, as Dark Drinker was in Destiny 1. It’s just the coolest thing ever. It will always be welcome in my loadout. For other weapons, I am currently really enjoying Ruinous Effigy. Slamming that ball into the ground and taking out multiple enemies is satisfying. I’m a Hunter Nightstalker main, and have been since I started playing. Though Arcstrider is my second favorite. As for Kinetic weapons, I like Redrix’s Broadsword, The Supremacy, and Witherhoard.

What’s the best place to find your work? Where can Guardians follow you?

Drexis: If you need to find me, I have a few places for you:

Any advice you have for aspiring artists in the community before you go?

Drexis: I’m not great at advice, but if I had to say something, I’d say stick with it. Motivation is fleeting, and sometimes it’s unreliable. Make yourself sit in front of the computer (or pencil and paper), put on the lo-fi Destiny beats, and move. It can suck, and you might hate what you make at first. But just getting those ideas down, materializing them into existence, is a breeding ground for the best thing you’ve ever made… woah, did I just say that?

That was deep.

Alright, alright, alright! Thanks for featuring me! I hope to see all you Guardians out in the wild, sporting Falling Guillotines and shredding through the enemies of the Last City. Cheers!

That was deep! Maybe someday I’ll graduate from stick figures and start drawing Vex, Fallen, or even Cabal with tiny hats.

Many thanks to Drexis for stopping by, and we’ll see you all again next week for a fresh Community Focus.

This Week at Bungie – 8/06/20

This week at Bungie, we’re getting ready for Solstice of Heroes.

Once again, it’s time for the annual tradition of honoring Guardians and your great accomplishments. Our free summer event, Solstice of Heroes, starts next week on August 11.

The European Aerial Zone is back and full of Hive, Cabal, and Fallen enemies for you to dispatch. Defeat as many of the bosses as you can in a fireteam of three and then hunt for chests that are hidden away around the floating island. The more bosses you take down, the more rewards you will earn.

Armor

This year, we have a new approach to Solstice of Heroes armor that we think is going to give you far more flexibility on how you show off your Solstice-ness.

Similar to previous years, you will start with a Rare set and upgrade it into a Majestic Legendary set. Once you have all of your Legendary gear, you can start a final set of objectives to upgrade it to a Magnificent set. Here is a look at the objectives required:

  • Complete a Nightfall Ordeal on the Master difficulty.
  • Complete a Nightmare Hunt.
  • Complete Pit of Heresy.
  • Win seven Trials of Osiris matches. (Not on a single Passage)
  • Complete a Tier 5 Altar of Sorrow three times.

Completing these objectives will unlock a white glow on your armor. You need to upgrade your armor to Majestic during Solstice of Heroes but can continue to complete these objectives after the event ends. You can continue to earn more randomly rolled pieces for your Magnificent set in the EAZ.

Earning the Majestic Legendary set will unlock the option to purchase a Universal Ornament set from Eververse for either Silver or Bright Dust. This ornament will change its glow to match your Elemental subclass color. Unlike last year, you won’t need to purchase individual color glows. Each class set will be able to display three different elemental glows that will match whatever subclass you have equipped at the time.

Since the Elemental glow sets are Universal Ornaments, you will be able to apply them to any armor 2.0 pieces instead of only being able to apply them to your Solstice armor like before.

As a bonus, all of the Elemental Universal Ornaments will also support a fourth glow for players who equip the Stasis subclass when Beyond Light releases this fall.

One of our goals with the Solstice of Heroes armor was to improve the experience of earning over previous years. There won’t be any major armor updates, so once you earn your Majestic set it will be relevant up until next year’s event. The Elemental glows being made into Universal Ornaments will ensure you can use them on any of your high stat armor going forward.

Glows can’t be toggled on and off for Universal Ornaments. That is why this year’s glows are always on, as they are built into their Universal Ornaments.

The white glow on the Legendary Magnificent set are also always on once you complete the challenge for the corresponding piece. Both the white glows and the elemental glows will increase their intensity depending on how much super energy you have at the time.

Eververse

The Eververse store will also have some shiny new things available. Every new Solstice of Heroes item will be available for both Silver and Bright Dust at some time during the event with the exception of the “Iron Severance” Finisher.

Here is a quick look at some of the wares.

Lo-fi Beats

The Bungie Music team just released a remix lo-fi Destiny 2 track perfect for unwinding after an adrenaline pumping Crucible match or stressful Flawless dungeon finish. Put on some headphones and kick back with your feet up to these soothing jams.

THE END IS THE BEGINNING IS THE END

Our Player Support team is here to help. They are tracking known issues and making sure you have info on

This is their report.

MEANS TO AN END UPDATE

In Hotfix 2.9.1.2, we resolved an issue some players had where they couldn’t complete their “Means to an End” quest nor the Prismatic Recaster Weekly Challenge. To resolve the issue, the quest will now delete from player inventories at each weekly reset. If players try to hold onto their Pinnacle Engram from the Prismastic Recaster past the weekly reset, it will be lost and players will need to complete the new quest for that week to obtain another engram.

Additionally, players will now be able to complete the “Means to an End” quest on multiple characters of the same class. Each class is still restricted to a single Pinnacle reward engram and subsequent runs on characters of the same class will provide a non-powerful Legendary Engram instead.

Players still having issues should file a report in our #Help Forum.

API MAINTENANCE

Until September 23, post-game carnage reports (PGCRs) won’t be available between 1-4 AM PDT due to database maintenance.

RESOLVED ISSUES

  • Players should no longer have their name censored on Steam.
  • For players who can’t use chat while playing on PC, they can fix this issue by opting out of participating in the Steam Client Beta program.

KNOWN ISSUES

While we continue investigating various known issues, here is a list of the latest issues that were reported to us in our #Help Forum:
  • The Corrupted Nightfall: The Ordeal has inconsistent respawn locations, causing players to spawn out of bounds.
  • When holding a Sword, the ability to regenerate a melee won’t work for any class.
  • Some players still report that they can’t claim their “Means to an End” quest or don’t receive a Pinnacle Engram for completing the quest.
For a full list of emergent issues in Destiny 2, players can review our Known Issues article. Players who observe other issues should report them to our #Help forum.

Short Films

This is Movies of the Week. Sit down and watch.

Movie of the Week: Emergence

Honorable Mention: Try Hard Now

If you’re one of these winners, please make sure you have your Bungie.net profile in the description of said video so we can get you your emblem.

Hope you’re having a good week in the Iron Banner. Finish up your bounties and claim your pinnacles before the reset. Then it’s off to the EAZ to level up a fresh new set of Solstice armor. I’ll see you out there.
