In 2005, a legend was born on the PlayStation 2 - the legend of Kazuma Kiryu, the Dragon of Dojima, in his video game debut with Yakuza. Now, 11 years after that release, a new generation of players will be able to experience the incomparable action and drama of the Yakuza series with the rebuilt-from-scratch HD remake exclusive to PlayStation 4, Yakuza Kiwami.
"Kiwami" means Extreme, and the game takes that concept to heart. It's not an HD-remaster or up-rezzing of PS2-era textures. Yakuza Kiwami was recreated from the ground up exclusively for the PlayStation 4. That means every visual element was optimized for the 1080p/60fps environment, every line of the script was re-recorded by series actors and for the first time in the West, gamers will be able to hear the original Japanese language track.
Then there's the game itself! The PS2-era brawling gameplay is refined for the current gen with Kazuma Kiryu fighting his way through the ranks of Yakuza, only to wind up protecting a young girl whose aunt (who also happens to be Kiryu's childhood sweetheart) is missing... along with 10 billion yen.
Unleash Your Inner Monster - Transform at will from a princess into a wolf to guide the blind prince towards a cure. Weave through the dangerous forest, but be careful... A blind prince has no place in an all-seeing forest. Brute Strength Meets Sharp Wit - Various obstacles will require the wolf's strength, and others will require the princess's wit. Jump between reality & in-game modes, as players will need to investigate in the real world to solve the mysterious inner-workings of the World Odyssey. Your decision can change the game's ending. In this turn-based command battle system, you can roam freely & duke it out with fearsome monsters. During battle, players can change the game's genre from a first-person shooter to a fighter game.
Gain Valuable Kubernetes Skills and Certification with Linux Foundation Training
Quick, what was the the most dominant technology skill requested by IT firms in 2018? According to a study from job board Dice, Kubernetes skills dominated among IT firm requests, and this news followed similar findings released last year from jobs board Indeed. The Dice report, based on its available job postings, found that Kubernetes was heavily requested by IT recruiters as well as hiring managers. As SDX Central has reported: “Indeed’s work found that Kubernetes had the fastest year-over-year surge in job searches among IT professionals. It also found that related job postings increased 230 percent between September 2017 and September 2018.”
The demand for Kubernetes skills is so high that companies of all sizes are reporting skills gaps and citing difficulty finding people who have the required Kubernetes and containerization skills. That spells opportunity for those who gain Kubernetes expertise, and the good news is that you have several approachable and inexpensive options for getting trained as well as certified.
Certification Options
Certification is the gold standard in the Kubernetes arena. On that front, last year The Cloud Native Computing Foundation launched its Certified Kubernetes Application Developer exam and a Kubernetes for Developers (LFD259) course ($299). These offerings complement the Certified Kubernetes Administrator program ($300). CNCF, working in partnership with edX, also offers an Introduction to Kubernetes course that is absolutely free, and requires a time commitment of only two to three hours a week for four to five weeks. “As Kubernetes has grown, so has the demand for application developers who are knowledgeable about building on top of Kubernetes,” said Dan Kohn, Executive Director of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. ”The CKAD exam allows developers to certify their proficiency in designing and building cloud native applications for Kubernetes, while also allowing companies to confidently hire high-quality teams.”
According to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation: “With the majority of container-related job listings asking for proficiency in Kubernetes as an orchestration platform, the CKAD program will help expand the pool of Kubernetes experts in the market, thereby enabling continued growth across the broad set of organizations using the technology.”
December’s KubeCon + CloudNativeCon conference in Seattle was a sold-out event that has now ushered in a wealth of free Kubernetes-focused content that you can access. ‘The ®evolution of Steve Jobs’ wins Grammy for Best Opera Recording

One Grammy winner that flew under the radar Sunday night was “The ®evolution of Steve Jobs,” which won for Best Opera Recording despite some high-profile competition.
“Steve Jobs” was composed by Mason Bates, and recorded by the Sante Fe Opera Orchestra. It takes place within a single act but jumps around in time, depicting milestones like the founding of Apple and the launch of the iPhone, mixed in with personal events and Jobs’ interest in Zen Buddhism.
Some of the opera’s competition included a recording of Richard Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” starring Renee Fleming, and a BBC production of John Adams’ “Doctor Atomic,” about the testing of the first nuclear warhead in 1945.
Apple hasn’t called any attention to the win, presumably because it wasn’t directly involved and the opera is sometimes critical. The company has been careful about shaping public opinion of its co-founder — while it’s quick to praise his intellect, it has sidestepped issues like child custody fights and questionable business decisions.
The company has been using the Grammys to call attention to Apple Music, for instance pointing out the success of Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next,” and running memoji-themed billboards and TV ads.
Last year we took our first look at VRoid Studio, a 3D anime style character creator that had recently been translated to English. It works very similarly to Daz3D, Poser and MakeHuman, but is entirely dedicated to creating characters in the anime style. Using a simple set of sliders, you can quickly customize a character to your liking, much like defining your character in a video game. However you can also go much deeper, with integrated texture editing tools, hair creation tools, multiple animations and much more.
Previously however, VRoid had one major limitation… it could only produce female characters. This has now changed and male characters can be created as well, with their own set of gender specific animations defined. In the video below we go hands-on with the updated and more capable VRoid Studio.

PS4/PC's PlayStation Now Adds 10 More Games, See Them Here
PlayStation Now, the game-streaming service on PlayStation 4 and PC, continues to add more games. February's releases have been announced, and they include a mixture of PS3 and PS4 games. From EA, the new additions include Battlefield Hardline and Need for Speed Rivals, while NetherRealm's fighting game Mortal Kombat X is also out right now on PlayStation Now.
Team Waffles Wins Splatoon 2’s Breakfast Battle Splatfest
If you’re still participating in the Splatoon 2 Splatfests on a regular basis, you’ll no doubt have heard this weekend’s battle in Europe and North America was all about pancakes and waffles.
