Pokémon GO’s Next Community Day Takes Place In October With Beldum As The Star

Details for Pokémon GO‘s next Community Day have been revealed, with the Generation 3 Pokémon Beldum being the centre of attention this time around.

As is always the case for Pokemon GO Community Days, this special Beldum event will give players a great chance to catch the steel and psychic type monster on display – and benefit from plenty of other goodies, too. Taking place on 21st October, Beldum will appear far more frequently on your map for three hours in this event, and you’ll also be able to secure special moves, hatch eggs at super-fast speeds (just a quarter of the usual time needed), and maybe even get a shiny Beldum along the way.

Catching a Beldum on this day is a good idea for several reasons, mostly thanks to the fact that its fully-evolved form Metagross ranks pretty highly for both attack and defence in the game. It’s likely that evolving a Beldum into a Metang, and then into a Metagross during the event will also grant you access to a special move, so make sure to check out the times below and get involved.

  • Europe (21st October): 10am – 1pm UK, 11am – 2pm CET
  • North America (21st October): 11am – 2pm PT, 2pm – 5pm ET

As mentioned above, shiny Beldum (rare, differently-coloured versions of the creature) will also have a much higher chance of appearing on the day. We don’t know about you, but we love the look of Metagross’ shiny form – perhaps you’ll be able to get one?

Do you take part in Pokémon GO Community Days? Has the upcoming arrival of Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee sparked a renewed interest in the mobile game? Let us know below.

Reminder: Nintendo’s Mobile RPG Dragalia Lost Is Now Available, In Some Countries At Least

Nintendo’s latest offering in the world of mobile gaming, Dragalia Lost, is now available to download for free on Android and iOS.

Strangely, since its initial reveal back in May this year, we haven’t really seen a great deal of hype surrounding this new dragon-based adventure. Nintendo actually aired a special Direct dedicated to it, and there has been a steady trickle of trailers since then, too, but fans appear to have remained on the fence about the title for the most part. Now, though, it’s time to get stuck in and see what it’s like first hand.

The game was officially rolled out to mobile stores yesterday on the 27th September, although it’s currently only available in the US, Japan, Macau, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. We’re still yet to hear of any news for other regions such as Europe (where store searches for the game show no results), so this truly appears to be exclusive to those regions for now.

If you’ve missed previous announcements on this, Dragalia Lost is an action RPG with touchscreen controls being used to dish out simple and magic attacks. You can also transform into a dragon and unleash special attacks that way, and the story sounds quite intriguing, too, so we’d urge you to try it out if you can.

Will you be giving Dragalia Lost a go? Do you live in a region where it’s unavailable, hoping for it to be released there in the future? Let us know with a comment below.

David Wise And More Set To Appear On Video Game Soundtrack Radio Series Diggin’ In The Carts

Red Bull Radio has today announced the return of Diggin’ in the Carts – a show which examines the music, creators, legacy and global impact of video game music. Several well-established guests are set to make an appearance, including none other than Donkey Kong Country composer, David Wise.

Hosted by Nick Dwyer, this series has already looked into classic gaming tunes from 8-bit to 64-bit and beyond – we recently sat down with Dwyer to discuss how the show was conceived if you’d like to know more. This return, which will be the third series of the show, is set to expand upon the areas already explored, shining a light on the games, creators, composers, sounds, and systems from the UK, US, Europe and more.

Starting today, and continuing every Thursday through 15th November, the series contains eight, two-hour-long episodes featuring educational sections on game composers, interviews with video game music luminaries, features on music and top tracks, as well as guests hosts who will select their favourite moments from video game music history. Episode one airs on 27th September at 7pm ET (4pm PT / the following day at midnight BST / 1am CEST) and you’ll be able to catch the whole series at Red Bull Radio’s website.

That first episode will feature Atari founder and Pong producer Nolan Bushnell, a primer on Commodore Amiga soundtracks, the aforementioned David Wise, and Fool’s Gold Records affiliate Nightwave as a guest host. The rest of the series features a similarly stellar lineup – including the composer of Minecraft and various Commodore 64 music geniuses such as Martin Galway and Marco Passarani to name just a few – so make sure to check back every Thursday at the same time each week if you’re interested.
