Gal Metal Turns It Up To Eleven On Switch Next Month, New Trailer And Release Date Revealed

It has been revealed that the Nintendo Switch exclusive Gal Metal will arrive on 2nd November in Europe and 30th October in North America, and a brand new trailer has been released to celebrate.

There are actually two ways to purchase your own copy of Gal Metal. Firstly, the game will be available to pre-order digitally from 18th October, giving metalheads the chance to headbang their way to victory with Joy-Con in hand as soon as the game launches. Your alien invasion-preventing journey can also be expanded further with the ‘Encore Pack’ DLC, adding five new characters to the game, each with their own unique story episode and song. This DLC pack will release on the same day as the main game.

Alternatively, you could wait until the release date to get your hands on even more content via the Gal Metal: World Tour Edition available from selected retail stores. This contains the base game and the Encore Pack DLC, bundled together on the same Nintendo Switch cartridge, along with a previously unannounced exclusive set of ‘heavy metal stickers’. These stickers feature an assortment of in-game characters that are designed for use with your Switch or Joy-Con controllers.

If you want to learn more about this one, or if you’re completely in the dark as to what we’re talking about here, feel free to explore our review of the Japanese version of the game, or our interview with the game’s producer, Tak Fujii. That should hopefully be more than enough to get you going.

Pre-Orders Now Open For These Officially Licensed Wireless GameCube Controllers For Switch

PowerA has yet another controller option for Switch players on the way, this time releasing a wireless GameCube-inspired design that can work with your latest Nintendo console.

Releasing just in time for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, these controllers have all of the buttons available on the original GameCube controller – which was a dream to use alongside Super Smash Bros. Melee, of course – while adding all of the extras necessary for playing on Switch (the extra left shoulder button, a capture button, and the home button).

Key Features:
– The preferred gamepad for Super Smash Bros Ultimate
– Bluetooth Wireless freedom
– Classic GameCube design plus larger D-pad and added left shoulder button
– Motion controls and system buttons added for compatibility with all Nintendo Switch Games
– LEDs for power, player number and low battery warning
– Includes two AA batteries for up to 30 hours of gameplay
– Official licensed product with 2-year limited warranty – Register at PowerA.com

The controllers come in three different colours – purple, grey, and black.

It’s worth pointing out that the wireless functionality is available thanks to the use of AA batteries, rather than being chargeable via USB or the like, and the controllers don’t support HD rumble, IR, or amiibo NFC. They do offer motion controls, however, which isn’t always the case with third-party offerings.

The controllers are all available to pre-order from PowerA’s official site in the US for $49.99 each; in the UK, the grey model is exclusive to GAME for £39.99, with others seemingly yet to appear online. Of course, there are also official Nintendo GameCube controllers on the way for Switch, but those controllers are all wired.

Are you hoping to pick up a GameCube controller to play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Will these new wireless options be the perfect match for you? Let us know with a comment below.

Video: Embrace The Chaos Of LEGO DC Super-Villains With This Mischievous Launch Trailer

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games have shared a launch trailer for the upcoming LEGO DC Super-Villains, showing just some of the chaos players can expect to find in the game.

For the first time in a LEGO game, players will be given the opportunity to unleash their inner bad guy; LEGO DC Super-Villains gets rid of all the nice, decent people to create a world without superheroes – and things seem to be completely out of control. The game allows you to create your own fully customisable super-villain character complete with their own signature superpower – a feature which was actually shown off in another recent trailer.

In the game, the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth’s protection to a newcomer group of heroes from a parallel universe called the ‘Justice Syndicate’. However, legendary DC supervillains including The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, Deathstroke, Killer Frost and more, discover that the Justice Syndicate may not be as heroic as they claim to be. Led by your customisable character, this legendary team of wrongdoers must join forces to stop these fake heroes and save the world – but only so that they can rule it for themselves.

The game launches on Nintendo Switch on 16th October.

Will you be teaming up with DC’s worst to wrong some rights? Let us know if you plan to pick up a copy of the game in the comments below.

Yo-Kai Watch 4 Has Been Delayed Until Spring 2019 In Japan

Yo-Kai Watch 4 – the next entry in the Yo-Kai Watch series and the first to appear on Switch – has seen a delay in Japan, it has been confirmed.

Originally, the game had been scheduled to arrive in winter 2018, but the latest issue of Japanese magazine CoroCoro has revealed that it has now been pushed back to spring 2019. Of course, apart from this entry, the Yo-Kai Watch games have all released on 3DS, with this latest instalment likely being the biggest step up the franchise has seen to date. We expect that this new development territory and larger project scale are to blame.

This delay does help the west in its bid to catch up with the series, however; Europe and North America are only getting the previous entry – Yo-Kai Watch 3 on Nintendo 3DS – over the coming months, so this might help to bridge the gap between western and Japanese releases just a little. Even if this delay has a knock-on effect for the localisation of the new Switch title, at least we’ll be able to play Yo-Kai Watch 3 just before the fourth entry comes out.

Are you looking forward to Yo-Kai Watch 3 releasing this winter? Or are you more excited for the prospect of a new Yo-Kai adventure on Switch? Feel free to share your thoughts with us down below.

Super Mario Party’s Release Might Have Caused Joy-Con Shortages On Amazon’s Websites In Europe

When it comes to the Mario Party series, more people typically means more fun. Now that Super Mario Party for Switch is out in the wild, there are reports going around about a Joy-Con shortage in Europe, specifically tied to Amazon. If this is the reason, it’s at least positive news for the latest entry in the Mario Party series.

The same source providing this information also notes how Joy-Con sales in Japan were up by “+200%” (three times the regular amount) during the period of Super Mario Party’s launch on the Switch. Recent Japanese sales figures revealed how the latest party outing featuring the all-star cast generated 142,868 in sales on the opening weekend. This counts for physical copies of the game arriving in stores on 5th October and figures being tallied up on the 7th.

Are you at all surprised to hear about potential Joy-Con shortages on European Amazon websites? Did you expect this to be the case when it was confirmed Super Mario Party was not compatible with other pads including the Pro Controller? Have you rushed out yourself yet to pick up a few extra Joy-Con for the party celebrations? Tell us below.

Random: This Unreal Version Of GoldenEye 007 Aims To Recreate Rare’s Iconic FPS

Rare’s beloved 1997 Nintendo 64 classic GoldenEye 007 might be stuck in licensing limbo, but that won’t stop the modding community from trying to revitalise the iconic first-person shooter. For years now, GoldenEye: Source – a fan mod available through Valve’s Steam service – has allowed players to live out their old-school multiplayer fantasies online. As brilliant as this mod is, the single-player element of the game was never included due to the potential legal risks.

Now, a new fan-made game – known as GoldenEye 25 – is attempting to recapture the single-player magic of the retro N64 shooter. The aim of this PC-exclusive project is to “port and remaster” GoldenEye 007 to the Unreal Engine 4 in time for the original game’s 25th anniversary in August 2022.

Project founder Ben Colclough – who formerly worked on GoldenEye: Source – is joined by the mod’s music composer Yannick “GoldenZen” Zenhäuser. The new game was inspired by the cancelled GoldenEye XBLA remaster and the plan is to update the single-player story missions, add modern graphics and perhaps even make a few additional gameplay tweaks.

Originally, Colclough intended to port the Nintendo 64 version of the game across to UE4 until he realised how overwhelming the task was, so he decided to remake everything from scratch instead. He’s also drawing ideas from the film during this phase. The creator’s development time on the project is limited to a few hours a day, due to the fact he works as a commercial 3D artist. This is the other reason why development is expected to take so long. In the meantime, you can view actual footage of the game above and take a look at the concept art below:

Are you a fan of the original GoldenEye 007 game on the Nintendo 64? Have you ever played the Source mod before? Will you be keeping an eye on Goldeneye 25? Tell us below.

Frictional Games Still Hoping To Bring Survival Horror Series Amnesia To Switch

In February, Frictional Games – the developer behind the Amnesia Collection – said it was interested in creating a Switch port. Although nothing has been announced since then, a recent interview with GameSpot has revealed the developer is still hoping to bring its series to the Nintendo Switch.

Creative Director Thomas Grip said the team was looking into it, and that he would personally love to do a Switch version of the survival horror games:

I grew up with Nintendo being the big platform, so it’s like, ‘Wow, we’re actually doing video games for real now if we can get it on Nintendo! And it would just be cool to get it on a handheld as well, because I think that should work for Amnesia and other games as well. We’re looking into it and seeing what can be done. We’re hoping–if everything goes as we hope–we hope we’ll have it [on Switch].

The Amnesia games would no doubt be a great addition to the horror library on Nintendo Switch, which already includes games such as Layers of Fear: Legacy and the Outlast series. The Amnesia Collection is comprised of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and its expansion, along with the sequel A Machine for Pigs.

Would you like to see the Amnesia games make their way across to the Switch? Are you a fan of the horror genre. Tell us below.

Ubisoft Eager To Find Out Most Loved Mario Characters In New Subscriber Survey

Ubisoft and Nintendo have arguably never had a better relationship and it’s all thanks to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Earlier this year, it was revealed the game had become the highest selling third-party title on the Switch – placing the French-based publisher in the overall lead in terms of third-party sales on the platform. More recently, Ubisoft’s full-year sales and earnings figures for the 2017-18 period showed seven percent of its sales were attributed to the Mario and Rabbid crossover – with more than two million copies sold. If that wasn’t enough, Starlink: Battle for Atlas on Switch looks to be the most anticipated version of the game – all because of a cameo from the Star Fox crew.

Ubisoft is obviously happy with the current arrangement, as it’s now sending out surveys to its email subscribers asking about their favourite characters in the Mario universe. As shown by a user on Twitter (see below), on one page there is Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina and Peach, and on the other is Daisy, the Koopalings, Bowser Jr., Birdo, Kamek and Bowser. As Ubisoft has not explained why it is asking this question, there’s now speculation it is linked to a potential sequel for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle or it’s for an entirely new crossover game set in the Mario universe.

It would not be a surprise if Ubisoft wanted to continue with Nintendo crossovers. Not long ago, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot was asked about a potential sequel to Mario + Rabbids and replied with the following comment:

“I can’t say…

[Laughs] I can’t give you an answer yet.”

What do you make of this survey? Would you like to see more Ubisoft and Nintendo video game crossovers? Are you hoping to see a sequel to Mario + Rabbids? Tell us in the comments.
