Minecraft 1.14 Snapshot 19W13A and B

Snapshot intros are hard to write! They need to perfectly summarise all the information we gather each and every week, like the fact that Illagers now have amassed enough intelligence to open doors (congratulations!) or that you can trade in the middle of a raid. They should also act as a lighthearted segue into all that heavy information that are the bug fixes. Add a fair portion of memes, and you have the perfect Wednesday read! Since I’ve already rambled long enough, I can’t provide the latter. Oh well, maybe next week?

A full summary of the content available in this snapshot can be found in the changelog on Minecraft.net.

  • Ringing bells now reveals all nearby mobs that can appear in raids

  • MC-121282 – Server icons erased on loading multiplayer menu
  • MC-139017 – Rain goes through blocks when upgrading world from older versions

  • Bugfixes

RAIDS

Raids now follow a set pattern based on difficulty to determine the exact number of groups that will spawn as part of the raid: Easy – 3 Normal – 5 Hard – 7

If you or your fellow village mates brought more than one level of Bad Omen into the village during the raid or at the initial trigger of the raid, then you will experience a bonus wave equivalent to the final base wave you would normally see for your difficulty. Ex: Bad Omen levels 2-5 would experience 4 waves on easy, where the fourth wave is the same as the third.

BAD OMEN:

You can now get up to Bad Omen 5, and you only get 1 Bad Omen at a time from killing a captain. Each person that brings Bad Omen into the village will increase the Bad Omen level of the raid on that village up to Bad Omen 5. A higher level of bad omen means a higher chance that the enemies you face will have enchanted weapons.

HERO OF THE VILLAGE:

You now get an effect called Hero of the Village after successfully defending your village from a raid! The level of this effect that you get is equivalent to the Bad Omen level of the village that was raided. This effect will last for ~2 in game days and will give you great discounts on trades, with the discount dependent on the level of the effect. Villagers will also show their gratitude, so look out for your new fans in the village after you save them!

BELL CHANGES:

If the bell is rung, villagers will run into a random nearby home and hide for a short time.

OTHER CHANGES:

  • All Illagers can now open doors, but Vindicators will still chop them down if they feel like it
  • All raid waves have been rebalanced, with certain waves more heavy on specific mobs than other waves and the earlier waves being significantly less easy than the later waves.
  • Evokers will spawn in waves 5-7, as opposed to just in the final wave before
  • Raiders are much better at going door-to-door now, and seek to be constantly moving during raids, always looking into houses to try and find villagers
  • Villagers now sweat all the time during raids, not just when you try to trade with them
  • Also you can trade with villagers during raids again!
  • MC-132313 – Buttons and levers can be placed on the bottom of hoppers
  • MC-137467 – Ender dragon does not spawn if render distance is set to 10 or below
  • MC-139376 – Crash when putting spaces and clicking on “Done” in the jigsaw GUI
  • MC-139798 – Bad Omen disappears upon entering villages in spectator mode
  • MC-141009 – Clicking “done” on a Jigsaw disconnects client on dedicated server
  • MC-141358 – Tridents have the SoundEvent tag, but don’t use it
  • MC-145758 – Villagers constantly breeding but don’t produce baby villagers
  • MC-146282 – Entering Command Block UI Causes All Music to Stop
  • MC-146346 – Backup world file saved without .zip
  • MC-146350 – Splash water bottles do not put out fires
  • MC-146353 – Structure integrity does not work, RNG runs for all blocks at once
  • MC-146359 – Crash whilst rendering overlay
  • MC-146360 – Exiting bed always puts the player or villager in blocks
  • MC-146367 – Hostile mobs spawning on glass
  • MC-146377 – Beacon UI is nonresponsive and doesn’t allow you to change the beacon effect
  • MC-146380 – After sleeping in a bed, the player always spawns on top of it if there are no blocks next to it
  • MC-146381 – Sleeping in a bed always resets the player’s spawn point to the world spawn point
  • MC-146387 – Monsters spawning on leaves during night time
  • MC-146454 – Eating food no longer plays the burp sound
  • MC-146470 – Entities in forceloaded or world spawn chunks cannot be selected

Minecraft 1.14 Snapshot 19W11A

It’s wednesday, my dudes! Todays snapshot marks The Village & Pillage update as, for the most part, feature complete. We’re still planning to do a big polish pass, there may be some small features snuck in here or there, but ultimately it’s bug fixing from here on out and we’re

hoping for a release quite soon!

A full summary of the content available in this snapshot can be found in the changelog on Minecraft.net.

  • Lots of accessibility improvements!
  • Added a new “Globe” banner pattern and item (Currently only accessible from commands or the creative inventory)
  • Trading changes
  • Added recipe for smithing and fletching table
  •  TNT and TNT minecart explosions now have 100% drop rate
  • There’s a new Accessibility menu which provides a useful place for all of our accessibility features to be toggled
  • When the narrator is turned on, buttons will be narrated on focus
  • Most screens allow tab and shift+tab navigation through buttons, edit boxes and other UI elements
  • Most lists allow up/down arrow keys to navigate through them
  • We’ve added a new option for turning up the background of all transparent text elements, which should help make them more readable for some people
  • Smithing table is crafted with 4 planks + 2 iron ingots
  • Fletching table is crafted with 4 planks + 2 flint
  • Villagers use them as a work site
  • We’ve decided not to add the functionality for these blocks for this update as we want to make sure that they’re useful for the overall gameplay. We have a great idea for them for the next major themed update…
  • Lots of new trades have been added
  • Villagers now level up in a new way
  • The trading UI is updated (WIP)
  • The trading prices now depend on your reputation and on demand
  • The villagers will restock up to two times per day (if they can work at their work station!)
  • Added visual trading; villagers will display the item they want to trade for your in-hand item
  • Villagers now have a daily schedule. They will for example go to work and meet up at the village bell
  • Each villager will try to find their own bed and work station
  • Each profession has a specific block that works as a work station for them (e.g. lectern for the librarian and cauldron for the leatherworker)
  • Village detection is now based on beds, job sites and meeting points instead of doors
  • Iron golems will spawn when enough villagers meet

Minecraft 1.14 Snapshot 19W08A

We’re slowly entering the “bug fixing and polishing” phase of the 1.14 Village & Pillage update, but that didn’t stop us from sneaking in a few cool features like Leather Horse Armor (it’s dyeable!), making Invisiblity Potions actually useful in survival, and best of all… wait, oh dear, I’ve forgotten what that last thing was. Oh well, it’ll come to me later.

A full summary of the content available in this snapshot can be found in the changelog on Minecraft.net.

  • One Iron Golem now spawns in all villages upon generation
  • Improvements to invisibility to allow it to correctly work in many cases where it didn’t but you’d expect it to
  • Added Leather Horse Armor
  • Textures for potion effects are now split into individual files
  • Command parser now accepts ' as string quotes. Inside '-quoted string " is handled as normal character and requires no escaping (and vice-versa) – so now it’s easier to input text components in NBT.
  • Stopped foxes, dolphins, and pandas from having armor equipped onto them via dispenser
  • Changed bounding box and eye height of foxes (prevents them from drowning when swimming)
  • Foxes that trusted you in the previous snapshot will unfortunately no longer be trusting

LEATHER HORSE ARMOR

  • Added a new armor type for horses
  • Dye it in lots, yes LOTS, of different colors

To get snapshots, open your launcher and go to the “launch options” tab. Check the box saying “Enable snapshots” and save. To switch between the snapshot and normal version, you can find a new dropdown menu next to the “Play” button.
