Beyond: Two Souls Allegedly Coming To Steam

It seems Quantic Dream's interactive action-adventure game, Beyond: Two Souls, is headed to Steam sometime soon. This is according to a Steam Database listing posted by Twitter user Nibel.

The listing has no specific information relating to Beyond: Two Souls, such as the game's name or a suggested retail price, and searching for the game on Steam pulls no results for it. An exact release date for this PC version of Beyond: Two Souls remains unconfirmed for now.

This is not Beyond: Two Souls' first foray on the PC platform, though. In May 2019, Quantic Dream confirmed that Beyond: Two Souls--as well as its other titles such as Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain--would launch on PC through the Epic Games Store. All three games are now available through Epic's proprietary storefront, and each title has a free playable demo available to download.

Concept Graph–Procedural Content Generation For Godot

Concept Graph–Procedural Content Generation For Godot

Concept Graph is perhaps the single most impressive plugin I have seen yet for the Godot game engine.  It aims to bring the world of procedural content generation to the Godot game engine and quite frankly, even in an early experimental state, it succeeds.  Even in my short hands-on time with Concept Graph, I can really see how this could be a game changer for many Godot developers.

Described on the Wiki accordingly:

Concept Graph is a free node based content creation tool integrated in the Godot game concept_graph_0 2engine. The node graph is composed of many small independent nodes connected together to create a complex result.

Current status

This add-on is still in alpha. It’s not considered production ready, but if you want to play around with it, I’d love to hear your feedback on the UI, general usability, features or anything else. If you want to contribute to the code, head oven to the Advanced topics section to get familiar with the code-base architecture.

Quite frankly, Concept graph is really one of those things you should see in action to truly appreciate it.  You can check it out in our video below including quick installation and getting started instructions.  If it excites you as much as it did me, you can then learn more in this in-depth video tutorial by the addon’s creator @HungryProton.

AppleInsider - Sofia Coppola to adapt novel ‘The Custom of the Country’ for Apple TV+

Sofia Coppola to adapt novel ‘The Custom of the Country’ for Apple TV+

Screenwriter, director and producer Sofia Coppola is reportedly developing an adaptation of the Edith Wharton novel “The Custom of the Country” for Apple TV+.

According to Variety, Coppola will write and direct the Apple TV+ limited series, based on the 1913 novel of the same name. It tells the story of a Midwestern girl named Undine Spragg who tries to integrate with New York City society.

Coppola said that Undine Spragg is her favorite “literary anti-heroine” and that she is excited to bring the character to the screen for the first time.

The potential limited series would be Coppola’s second project for Apple TV+, which is gearing up to release feature film “On the Rocks.” Coppola wrote the script for and directed “On the Rocks,” which will star Bill Murray and Rashida Jones. The film emerged from a partnership between Apple and film studio A24.

Coppola is known for her film work, including the Golden Globe- and Academy Award-winning screenplay for “Lost in Translation,” which stars frequent collaborator Bill Murray. Other films include “Marie Antoinette,” “The Virgin Suicides” and “The Beguiled.”

The Edith Wharton adaptation will be Coppola’s first entr&eacutee into episodic television, though she isn’t entirely new to the TV world. Previously, she co-wrote and directed “A Very Murray Christmas” and has also worked on TV commercials.

Mobile - A Doctor Who horror game from the Simulacra devs is launching next year
Posted by: xSicKxBot - 05-12-2020, 06:17 PM - Forum: New Game Releases - No Replies

A Doctor Who horror game from the Simulacra devs is launching next year

Maze Theory, the VR game developer, has announced two new Doctor Who games. One is for PC and console, but the other is a horror sci-fi game, which is under development in partnership with Kaigan Games. The Malaysian developer is famous for Simulacra, a Telling Lies-esque thriller where you solve a mystery via an in-game mobile phone interface. This unnamed Doctor Who mobile game will reportedly take a similar format, as a “mobile takeover”. Kaigan Games are also well-known for Sarah is Missing, another found phone horror game, and has cemented the company as an acclaimed developer of handheld horror.

The game is set during the period of the current 13th Doctor, Jodie Whitaker, forming a trilogy of three games alongside Doctor Who: Edge of Time, a VR game that launched last November, and a game coming to console and PC next year.

According to the developer, players can expect “new adventures, new game mechanics, intriguing subplots, and iconic features such as the TARDIS, terrifying Weeping Angels, imposing Daleks and – of course – the chance to collude with the Doctor herself.”

The Doctor Who mobile game is official, and under development in partnership with the BBC.

Maze Theory also has a Peaky Blinder’s VR game in-development, so this isn’t its first time transferring a much-loved TV series and intellectual property into a game format.

We don’t know precisely when yet, but the Doctor Who mobile game is currently set to launch sometime early next year. Plenty of time to prepare yourself, or try out Simulacra if you’re feeling brave. You can find Simulacra on Google Play, or the App Store.

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics Will Actually Feature A 52nd Game

Clubhouse Games 51: Worldwide Classics

As you’d probably figured out from the game’s name, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics features 51 classic tabletop games from all around the world. Except, that’s not quite true.

You see, Nintendo’s official Japanese website has revealed that, actually, there will be a bonus 52nd game. It’s called ‘Piano’, and has been treated to this short trailer:

Imagery on the site reveals that it’ll include support for up to four players, and a rough Google translation notes that it acts as “a short break”. Only one octave of the piano can be seen in the video, so it might only allow for very basic songs, but it looks like this could well be a way for multiple players to make up little tunes together.

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics

It has also recently been revealed that the game will feature a number of Super Mario cameos, as well as a cute little nod to NES title, Golf.

Excited to get your hands on this one? Remember, this Nintendo-published title launches on 5th June.

Xbox Wire - Woodle Tree 2: Deluxe+ is Available Now on Xbox One

Woodle Tree 2: Deluxe+ is Available Now on Xbox One

The sequel to Woodle Tree Adventures is here, with many new enhancements! In this post I would like to talk about the development and the ideas behind Woodle Tree 2: Deluxe+, an open world platformer like no other. So lets get started!

The development of the game began in 2017. We wanted to create a platformer game so we started with the design of the new world.

Woodle Tree 2: Deluxe+

During the design stage many ideas started to pop up, in fact we understood that we had enough ideas to develop even 2 or 3 entire whole new games! So we had two options: remove features and levels to the game or develop a world big enough to contain them all.

In the end we found out that the right path was to create an entire open world map that included all the villages, levels, and characters in the game. This could even help the immersion and credibility of the Woodle universe and its expansion.

Woodle Tree 2: Deluxe+

Of course the most challenging development aspect of the game is the construction and design of a world big enough to contain all the levels. Moreover this would be run at 60 frames per second with no loading times. For a small team this seems like a crazy idea to realize, but we wanted to take the challenge anyway and develop the game of our dreams.

After many years of development, I’m proud of the game we managed to make and happy that you can now play it in its best version. In fact, we were able to add new challenges and local co-op multiplayer mode for up to 4 players!

Woodle Tree 2: Deluxe+

The local multiplayer mode includes the main adventure of the game, so have fun with your friends! I hope this development post was inspiring and interesting for all the Woodle fans!

Nintendo files lawsuit barrage to take down Super Mario 64 PC port

Fans of Nintendo’s Super Mario 64 have spent the last week poring over a fan-made PC port of the seminal Nintendo 64 title. Their excitement however, may have been short-lived. A report on Torrentfreak now says that the company is filing lawsuits to have the supercharged PC version taken offline.

There’s a slight twist in this story compared to the normal game dev takedown lawsuits we run. Wildwood Law Group LLC, a law firm usually enlisted to help Nintendo in its takedown efforts, doesn’t appear to be targeting the port’s makers. Rather, it’s telling Google and other online platforms to take down the port and make sure it can’t be found by the general public.

Torrentfreak notes that this strategy appears to have mixed results. One version of the port is still available on a Google Drive folder, though the company has been successful at having the port pulled from filesharing sites and on YouTube.

We’ve asked Nintendo if it has any comment on these lawsuits, and will update this story when they get back to us.

News - 4 tips from Game Maker’s Toolkit to help you evaluate community feedback

4 tips from Game Maker’s Toolkit to help you evaluate community feedback

“As a designer at some point you just have to be brave. You can’t shy away from making any major changes just because a subset of players may dislike it, or you will never ship anything interesting and your game will become stale.” – David Bocek, Respawn Entertainment

Processing video game feedback can be like plugging into the X-Men’s Cerebro. A thousand voices pop into your head all at once, and you’re trying to filter them all out to find the voice you’re looking for.

If you’re working with a great community management or playtest team, then you likely have a great process for evaluating and filtering all that player feedback. But if you don’t, Mark Brown’s latest entry in the Game Maker’s Toolkit series is worth your time.

Brown’s gone out of his way to highlight a number of practical tips developers can use to process feedback on their game, including a number of unique quotes from experienced developers who’ve solved feedback-driven problems on their own games.

You should watch the full video above, but for a quick overview, here are Brown’s four tips you can implement right away.

  1. Don’t listen to a vocal minority. (Your most vocal players’ experiences may not match the data reflecting your broader playerbase.)
  2. Identify problems, not solutions. (Players are great at identifying problems, but can’t always conceive of solutions.)
  3. Don’t let changes lead to a boring game. (See the quote above.)
  4. Create a conversation between developers and players. (If your players know why features are the way they are, they can improve their feedback.)

As a bonus, Brown’s video makes for a great explainer to players about how their feedback is best processed by developers.

There are even more new features and integrations coming to Yammer as we approach general availability, such as suggested communities, bookmarks, and additional admin and user controls.  We will update this article as we launch new features and post on the Admin Message Center whenever we have any major announcements.

Enable the preview within your organization

Microsoft 365 Global Admins can configure access to the new Yammer preview through the Yammer admin portal. Admins can enable the preview toggle in the suite header and choose the default experience for their network: classic Yammer the new Yammer. Learn more about enabling the new Yammer preview for your organization.

YammerToggle.png

Once enabled by an admin, users will access the new Yammer or switch back to classic using the toggle in the navigation bar.

Who can access the new experience?

Once enabled by a Microsoft 365 Global Admin, people in your organization will be able to view the toggle to opt-in to the new experience. This will be available for canonical (home) networks only. You will still see the classic Yammer experience in external networks. If your organization wants to remove all access to the new Yammer during the preview phase, you will need to contact Microsoft support.

Other ways to access the new Yammer

The new Yammer is available worldwide on mobile, for iOS and Android. The new Yammer app for Teams lets you stay connected to company communications, live events and communities inside the hub for teamwork. And in Outlook on the web, you can now engage with Yammer conversations directly from your Outlook inbox. Soon, we’ll be bringing inbox integration to Outlook desktop and mobile apps, and we’ll bring the new Yammer experience to SharePoint, with an updated web part.

How should I submit feature requests and feedback?

Feature requests and feedback on the product during preview should be submitted through the in-product feedback dialog boxes. Feedback can also be provided with peers through the new Yammer preview community on the Microsoft Tech Community.

FAQ

Q: When will the new Yammer come out of preview and be generally available?

A: We are continuing to test and improve the new Yammer to ensure it delivers the experience our customers expect. We are currently targeting worldwide availability in July.

Q: Can we opt out of the preview at any time?

A: You can remove the preview toggle for your entire network through the new Yammer preview setting in the Yammer admin portal. Any users who have selected the new Yammer experience will remain in that experience until they choose to go back to the classic experience.  For more information about the available options, see opt-in settings.

Q: Do SLAs apply to the new Yammer preview?

A: The Service Level Agreement for Microsoft Online Services does not apply to this preview.

Q: How do I open a support case?

A: Please see the help page in the for general information. Your organization may have specific guidance for opening support cases, so you may need to talk with your IT team.

Q: Is the new experience available for customers that have Yammer networks with data stored in the EU geo?

A: Yes!

Q: We have Yammer embedded in various places in our Intranet (i.e. Yammer tab in Microsoft Teams, Yammer web part for SharePoint, Yammer embed). How will those be impacted by the new Yammer?

A: Initially there will not be any change to these experiences. Eventually, these experiences will have the same design as the new Yammer.

Q: What about guest users in external groups?

A: Users will see the new Yammer or the classic Yammer experience depending on the state of their home network. Q: What about external networks?

A: Users can continue to access external networks using the Network Switcher icon available on the integrated tool bar at the top of every page. On switching, users will see these external networks in the classic experience.

Q: Are all languages supported in the new Yammer?

A: All languages available in classic Yammer are available in the public preview.

Q: Can users get to the new Yammer preview without administrator changes?

A: Your Microsoft 365 admin controls whether users see the toggle to switch to the new Yammer experience. But users will always be able to access web.yammer.com while the new Yammer is in the public preview phase. If your organization wants to remove all access to the new Yammer during the preview phase, you will need to contact Microsoft support. More details on this can be found here.

Q: I don’t want to enable the next experience for my production Yammer network yet. How can I test out the new toggle?

A: You can try out the opt-in toggles in your test tenant. If you don’t have a test environment, create a new trial tenant for testing and enable the toggle there.
