Kirby and the Forgotten Land figures and capsules

It turns out Mario isn’t the only master hoarder on Nintendo’s books. The little pink star-surfer is somewhat of a collector himself, and in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, he needs to locate all the capsules he can to turn Waddle Dee Town into a safe haven for his old friends. So, it’s time to get get your gacha on, and collect, collect, collect.

With our guide to Kirby and the Forgotten Land capsules, you’ll have a full table of figurines for Kirby to look longingly at atop his fireplace. To add more capsules to your collection, you can find them while out adventuring, or you can pay ten star coins at the gotcha machine in Waddle Dee Town for a guaranteed figurine.

For more on Kirby’s 3D debut, be sure to check out our guides to Kirby and the Forgotten Land copy abilities, Kirby and the Forgotten Land bosses, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land missions. Or, if you’re not ready to take the star-surfer into the next dimension, see our list of the best Switch platformers for some top-tier alternatives.

What are Kirby and the Forgotten Land figures and capsules?

Kirby and the Forgotten Land capsules are collectable in-game items, each containing a special figurine to add to your stash. From the mini-impressions of Kirby himself, to the various enemies that the star-surfer has to contend with, there are more than enough to keep you busy collecting.

You also find figures in Waddle Dee Town, through helpful members of the community like Wise Waddle Dee, Waddle Dee-liveries, and the Waddle Dee cafe. You can find seven figurines when Waddle Dee Town is fully functional, with a secret eighth available after the post-game.

Each capsule is part of a larger set, known as volumes, that you unlock as Kirby finds his way through the Forgotten Land, beating bosses and freeing Waddle Dees. The capsules come range from one-star to four-star rating, with each three-star and four-star figurine having its own neat little description when on display.

How do I access my Kirby and the Forgotten Land figure collection?

You can easily access your Kirby and the Forgotten Land figure collection by pressing the “-” button on your Switch while in Waddle Dee Town, or when star-surfing Kirby is deciding on a destination in the overworld.

All Kirby and the Forgotten Land figures

With the exception of the Waddle Dee Town figures, what figures you receive from a capsule are randomised, so there’s no way of guaranteeing the last item you need to complete your collection, you just have to pray to the Gotcha machine gods for some good luck.

We’ve made a list of all the figures which unlock under specific conditions, so you can concentrate on finding the other missing pieces of your collection.

Sign up for MementoMori pre-registration and fight the curse

If you like narrative-driven games and enjoy idle gameplay, Bank of Innovation’s upcoming game is bound to interest you, and MementoMori pre-registrations are now open, so you can already show your interest in the game. By all accounts, this mobile title looks stunning, especially with its watercolour aesthetic.

So, since you can already sign up for MementoMori pre-registration, it’s only right to have a quick look at what the game entails, even if there aren’t a ton of details surrounding the title at the moment. Firstly, when it comes to the story, it centres around witches, and how those in the lands in which MementoMori takes place have come to despise them.

As such, it’s a fearful time for witches, with those caught and condemned sentenced to death thanks to the witch hunt. However, those that the Church of Longinus fear, might just be the ones to offer salvation, as, one day, a certain type of madness consumes the world, and while it causes some evil witches to rise up, some young girls with an affinity for magic themselves take a stand.

Yes, these innocent girls are cursed to be witches, but they prepare to save not only themselves, but the world and its inhabitants, too.

YouTube Thumbnail

The game features an idle system on top of a range of RPG mechanics, so you’re characters can increase in strength, even if you’re not in control – a handy feature for those that don’t have much time to spare.

Where can I sign up for MementoMori pre-registration?

For now, it’s only available to iOS users via the App Store. However, MementoMori pre-registrations are coming to Android users at a later date. If you need even more of an incentive to sign up, there are milestone rewards on offer. You can find full pre-registration details here.

If you need something to keep you busy in the meantime, you can’t go wrong with our lists of the best iPhone games and best Android games – there’s a title for everyone here.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Ouroboros guide – monaduno, monados

What are Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Ouroboros? Well, the latest entry in the JRPG franchise is looking to finish off the story of the two previous titles, and seems to take inspiration from Xenoblade Chronicles X and the Skell mechanic. It brings together different races, weapons, and features from every entry and mashes them together – it’s all pretty exciting for longtime fans.

The main thing you need to know about Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Ouroboros is that it’s the combination of two characters, who join together to create a large new form that resembles a robot, piloted by both of the characters at once. It’s a little bit Neon Genesis Evangelion in design, a bit like Pacific Rim in function, and is completely badass.

We’re going to do our best to explain the new mechanic here, as well as what blades mean in this context. Plus, it’s always good to get a refresher course on the game’s active battle system, which plays out in real-time, unlike a lot of JRPG games. You’ll need quick reactions and your wits about you, as the Xenoblade games are notoriously tough. Are you up for the challenge?

What is the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 battle system?

Like previous games, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 utilises an active battle system, meaning all of the moves from your party and enemies happen in real-time. There’s no waiting to take your turn. You have to just go for it.

Depending on which character you control, a selection of four different moves is visible in the game UI, mapped to the button on the right side of the controller, A, B, X, and Y. These attacks often have situational bonuses, like back attack. In essence, this means the attack does more damage when you strike a monster from behind, instead of from the front. This means you have to be aware of where you are in relation to enemies, as well as which attacks to use.

In previous entries, there’s a chain system that involves break, topple, and launch. A successful break attack cuts through the enemy’s defence. Once this happens a small window is open, and it’s possible to topple an enemy.

If you pull off these two moves consecutively, the opportunity to launch an enemy into the air is available, providing you successfully perform a launch attack. This has the chance to do massive damage, and successfully chaining these types of moves is essential. You can check out the footage Monolith Soft released below to see the battle mechanics in action.

What are the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 weapon types?

Each character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 holds specific weapon types, and these provide advantages to heal, attack, and defence, as well as other changes. The game refers to these as blades, and they’re an extension of the user that they can summon.

We don’t know yet whether these have battle advantages over other weapon types like in titles such as Fire Emblem, but we do know that as the game progresses, characters are able to equip weapons from different classes. So you can adjust your battle style to suit you. The weapon types announced so far are swords, guns, shields, hammers, dual discs, and origami.

What is the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Ouroboros

When in battle, two characters from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 can fuse together in a system called Interlinking. Noah and Mio can combine together, as can other members of the core party, Lanz & Sena, or Eunie & Taion. Fusing to create an Ouroboros makes them considerably more powerful, and grants them special abilities. You must be mindful though, as using this ability too much can cause the Ouroboros to overheat.

What do the different Ouroboros forms look like?

Xenoblade Chronicles Ouroboros: Noah and Mio have fused to make an Ouroboros

Noah and Mio Ouroboros

When Noah and Mio combine, they wield a huge sword during battle.

Xenoblade Chronicles Ouroboros: Lanz and Sena have fused to make an Ouroboros

Lanz and Sena Ouroboros

Lanz and Sena combine to make a huge Ouroboros. This combination is great for protecting teammates from powerful attacks.

Xenoblade Chronicles Ouroboros: Eunie and Taio have fused to form an Ouroboros

Eunie and Taion

The combination of Eunie and Taion makes this striking Ouroboros. Like this, they even have the ability to revive fallen allies.

We don’t have much longer to wait now, as the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 release date creeps up slowly. As we sit patiently waiting for it to arrive, why not also check out our Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters guide to get to know your new crew.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters – the new recruits

Who are the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters really? In a series heavily steeped in JRPG and sci-fi lore, you might struggle to keep track of the many different species in these universes, let alone the subtle nods to characters from previous titles with some newer designs. We’re going to be stuck with these folks for nearly 100 hours though, so let’s get to know them.

Much like the past games, the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters will mostly consist of your party members, who accompany you on your journey across Aionios. As forces from Keves and Agnus are caught in war, who is truly on your side, and who can you trust to help you bring peace to this war-torn world? Plus, if Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is anything like previous entries in the franchise, who is going to have an atrocious British accent?

If you love leveling up and ridiculous armour, you can find even more fantastic RPGs to play thanks to our guides, such as the best mobile RPGs, the best Switch RPGs, and the best Switch strategy games.

Here’s our guide to the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters: the character Noah appears holding a large red sword

Noah

The main protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and a member of the Keves nation, Noah is an off-seer who plays a musical instrument to help the souls of soldiers lost on the battlefield pass on into the next plain.

He sports a samurai-like ponytail and wields a sword that looks very similar to the Monado that Shulk uses in Xenoblade Chronicles. Noah wants to work to stop the fighting on Aionios and will team up with anyone with a good heart who shares the same goal.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters: The character Mio appears holding two disc shaped weapons

Mio

The counterpart to Noah and the other main protagonist, Mio is a member of the rival nation of Agnus, and much like Noah, is also an off-seer. Mio also has cat ears much like the Gormotti from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and just like Nia from that game, the English-language version has her sporting a welsh accent. Her main weapon is a pair of discs, and she’s described as being able to attack very fast and is great at dodging enemy attacks.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters: The character Eunie appears wearing a green hoodie, with wings sticking out of her head

Eunie

With the wings on her head, she resembles a member of the High Entia race, much like Melia in the original Xenoblade Chronicles. Eunie has known Noah and Lanz since childhood and speaks with a cockney accent in the English-language version of the game. She focuses on healing abilities, and her main weapon is a long staff that also functions as a rifle.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters: the character Taion appears, with brown curly hair and a white outfit with orange accents

Taion

A tactician and another member of the Agnus forces, Taion fights alongside Mio using his smarts and insight. He creates constructs from paper that resemble origami, calling these katashiro, and he uses them as a weapon. When not waging battle, Taion dotes on these constructs like pets. He also wears a long flowing orange scarf, that matches the orange highlights on his outfit.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters: the character Lanz looks forwards, with his face clearly being made of different shades of the colour grey

Lanz

A fierce ally to Noah, and a large soldier who uses a giant shield that doubles as a sword. Lanz seems to be a member of the Machina race, the beings born from the Mechonis in the original Xenoblade Chronicles. Does this prove the existence of the Mechonis in this universe? From all the clues, apparently, the universes have merged in some way.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters: the character Sena appears, she has a small frame but is wielding a gigantic hammer

Sena

Another solider of Agnus, Sena works alongside Mio and Taion. Despite her small size, she’s tremendously powerful and wields a giant hammer as a weapon. The blue lines that run down her body and the crystal on her chest, all seem to imply that she is in fact a blade, like Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 characters: the two Nopon characters Riku and Manana are visible

Riku and Manana

A pair of Nopon, Riku and Manana work together despite being soldiers from the Keves and Agnus forces respectively. They have large eyes filled with emotion unlike many other Nopon we’ve met in previous games, and they fight together as a single unit.

We don’t have much longer to wait now until the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 release date, so check back here for regular updates. In the meantime, keep an eye on our page dedicated to Xenoblade Chronicles 3 pre-orders to ensure you get your copy when they go on sale.

Genshin Impact Nintendo Switch release date

While ARPG fans everywhere have spent over a year enjoying thrilling battles and gliding over gorgeous scenery in Genshin Impact, Nintendo Switch fans have been left high and dry without a gliding license. Despite Hoyoverse having announced a Switch port of their hit title, we’ve found ourselves patiently awaiting any scraps of news – which is a lot tougher without a Paimon menu that can help you skip time.

Luckily, this awesome title is already available on PC, mobile, and Playstation, but we’re still eager to hear anything about the upcoming Genshin Impact Nintendo Switch release date. Hopefully, with the trailer for the Switch version already in circulation, we shouldn’t have to wait too long – though we may send a couple of prayers to the archons in hopes of getting it sooner. Every journey may have its final day, but we can’t help rushing towards this one!

If you want to keep up to date with all the latest Genshin Impact news, be sure to keep an eye on our Genshin Impact update, Genshin Impact next banner, and Genshin Impact leaks guides. You never know what’s on the horizon.

When is the Genshin Impact Nintendo Switch release date?

While Hoyoverse has confirmed that we’re definitely getting Genshin Impact on Nintendo Switch at some point, they’ve yet to announce a release date. They revealed that the Switch port was introduced far into the development cycle, which may be the reason why it didn’t release alongside the other versions of the game, however, it’s been quite a long time since then, and there’s still no sign of a Genshin Impact Switch port.

Way back on the 14 January, 2021, we got a sneak peek of what’s to come in the Genshin Impact Nintendo Switch trailer, as seen above. But, over a year later, we’ve still not heard any more information. Hopefully, it’s not too far off – and even more players can be introduced to the wonderful world of Teyvat.

We’ll be sure to update this guide whenever new information drops. But for the time being, you can still play Genshin Impact on mobile, PC, and PS4.

Freebies: all the latest Genshin Impact codes

Play for Free!

How can I play Genshin Impact elsewhere?

Genshin Impact is now available for download as a free-to-play game from the App Store and Google Play. PC players can grab it for free by clicking here.

Of course, if you’re new to the world of Teyvat, we recommend you check out our Genshin Impact tier list, grab a couple of freemogems from our Genshin Impact codes, and keep an eye on our Genshin Impact events to help get your wind glider off the ground.

How to make the most of Mobile Legends: Adventure’s holiday event

Tis the season to be jolly, and Moonton is making that all the easier by hosting a big Christmas event in Mobile Legends: Adventure, the idle RPG spin-off of MOBA Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. In case you haven’t heard of it, it challenges you to collect your favourite heroes from the MOBA itself, and to create a powerful battle party out of them.

You then send them out on various adventures, including a story campaign that adds greater depth to the world of Mobile Legends and its various characters. Along the way, you level up your heroes, equip them with new gear, and unlock new skills, which increases their power. That’s important, as the content quite quickly ramps up in challenge.

As you progress, the campaign soon gives way to the Tower of Babel, an endless series of increasingly difficult battles, and the Labyrinth, which plays a bit like Minesweeper but has you seeking goodies, rather than bombs. Well, there are bombs, but they’re a good thing in the Labyrinth.

Play for Free!

If this all sounds like an awful lot of fun to you, we recommend grabbing Mobile Legends: Adventure on mobile – particularly if you already play Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, as it’s a nice companion that really fleshes out the world.

And, to help you make the most of your time spent with the festive content in Mobile Legends: Adventure, we thought we’d put together a guide that covers everything you need to know about it. From when the event takes place to how to unlock all of the goodies, here’s what’s happening right now in Mobile Legends: Adventure.

Everything you need to know about Mobile Legends: Adventure’s festive event

YouTube Thumbnail

When does the holiday event take place?

Mobile Legends: Adventure’s holiday event is live right now, and runs right throughout the holiday period, ending on December 31.

What’s happening?

Well, the holiday season is coming to Mobile Legends: Adventure. What more do you want? Oh, to know the details. Well, here are all of the happenings in bullet point form:

  • Step aside, Santa – Snow Elves are bringing the gifts this year. You’ll have to catch them though, and exchange the elves themselves for rewards.
  • Lunox will feature in a new Goddess Blessing event, during which you have a chance to summon her and add her to your team.
A big, mean Yeti is challenging you to a duel. And by duel, we mean a 5v1 battle during which snowballs are flying all over the place. Watch out!

A battle scene in Mobile Legends: Adventure

  • Speaking of snowballs, there’s a Snowball Fight too. Collect snowballs and you can exchange them for those heroes you’ve always wanted.
  • Make sure to stay warm, though! The Christmas Hygge event will help with that, as it’s all about giving the gift of mittens to your friends, earning limited-time rewards. Who said giving was a gift in itself?
  • Lunox, Claude are decking themselves out in Christmas attire, while Freya and Saber will have new looks as well – you can grab all of these fresh threads from the Skin Shop.
  • Daily login rewards for everyone, of course! And a lovely Santa hat on your avatar. It’s the little things.

So how do I get everything?

First of all, here is everything new that you can get during the holiday event:

  • Holiday avatar border
  • Exclusive medals
  • Character skins
  • Various prizes from the Snowball Fight event prize pool

The holiday avatar border is very straightforward. You have to complete event quests to earn Christmas Boxes, which you can send to your friends. There’s a leaderboard for number of gifts sent to friends, and you need to be high up to get the avatar border.

As for the medals, here’s a breakdown of each one and how to get them:

  • Snowball Champion: deal 50 bars of damage to the yeti in Icy Brawl
  • Winter Goddess: get Lunox from the Goddess’s Blessing event
  • Bell of Peace: login on Christmas Day
  • Gentle Heart: send at least 999 Christmas Boxes during the event
  • Merry Christmas: get all of the other badges to unlock this special extra

Finally, in terms of the festive skins, four of them are available to purchase in the Skin Shop at 50% discount, while the rest you can earn from the prize pool in Snowball Fight. We don’t know an exact number, but there are at least 13 skins on offer to celebrate the holiday season.

And that’s it! Follow our tips and you’ll have a nice holiday season ahead of you in Mobile Legends: Adventure. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, we encourage you to do so on mobile. Merry Christmas!

Skyrim mobile becomes a reality thanks to Xbox Game Pass and xCloud

It’s only taken over nine years, but The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is finally making its way to mobile via the power of xCloud and Xbox Game Pass. If you’re unfamiliar with the service, Microsoft’s xCloud allows you to stream a range of major console games to your Android device, from Gears 5 and Sea of Thieves to Control and now Skyrim.

Bethesda’s legendary RPG is one of several new games set to join the Xbox Game Pass library for Android before the end of the year. Others include action-packed shooter My Friend Pedro and Soulslike Code Vein. Skyrim will be playable via the official Xbox Game Pass app from tomorrow.

If you’re on iOS, you’ll have to wait until spring 2021 to test out the service. Plus, xCloud for iOS will function through your web browser as opposed to a native app. This creative workaround was used to avoid having to split the entire Game Pass library into individual apps on Apple’s platform.

The version of Skyrim that Android users will be able to play is the enhanced Special Edition, which boasts improved visuals and all of the game’s DLC. Notably, the Special Edition also supports mods.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pj5JBytPij4?modestbranding=1&rel=0&feature=oembed]

If the prospect of playing Skyrim on mobile is one you simply can’t ignore, you’ll be needing a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. If you’re a new subscriber, you’ll pay $1/£1 for your first month, then $14.99/£10.99 for every month after that.

Does this mean that Skyrim is now one of the best mobile RPGs? Quite possibly.

Genshin Impact 1.2 adds a new map called ‘Dragonspine’

The current map in Genshin Impact is already extremely vast and takes even the most seasoned adventurer many hours to explore. Since Genshin released in September, developer miHoYo has released numerous updates for the game that have included extra events, new characters, fresh quests, and much more. To add to the already vast amount of content Genshin Impact has to offer, miHoYo has announced that the brand new snow-covered realm of Dragonspine will soon open to all intrepid explorers.

Dragonspine is a frigid area, so a new Sheer Cold bar has been added to make sure you can keep track of your temperature while exploring the biting cold. This should change up the way players go about exploring Genshin’s more treacherous terrain. A seasonal event is also on the way that will see you investigating a mysterious sword alongside Albedo, the Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of Mondstadt’s Knights of Favonius.

Genshin Impact version 1.2 is titled ‘The Chalk Prine and the Dragon’ and, beyond the new map, will also include two playable five-star characters, fresh ingredients, rare new artefacts, and recipes for multiple four-star weapons.

The expansion is set to drop on iOS, Android, PC, PS4, and PS5 on December 23 at no additional cost. You can check out the full trailer for Genshin Impact version 1.2 below.

Monster Hunter Rise demo release date set for January

Capcom has premiered an enticing new trailer for Monster Hunter Rise at The Game Awards 2020 and announced a demo set to arrive in January 2021. The latest gameplay footage shows off two all-new monsters who’ll make their grand debuts in next year’s title: Bishaten, a strange beast with a distinctive tail, and aquatic leviathan Somnacanth.

Beyond the newcomers, we also get a good look at some returning critters, including the Royal Ludroth and the birdlike Great Wroggi. Just because they’re old, doesn’t mean they’re any less deadly.

While we already knew about the Shrine Ruins hunting grounds, Capcom has now revealed Monster Hunter Rise’s new Flooded Forest area. This, as the name suggests, is a water-logged and overgrown space that could prove rather treacherous for inexperienced hunters. Thankfully, you’ll have your trusty grapple hook to help you traverse the terrain with relative style and grace.

With the Monster Hunter Rise release date set for March 26, it’s fair to say that we still have a bit of a wait on our hands.

The upcoming demo will surely help to tide over impatient fans for the time being, but if your hype levels are already stratospheric, our first impressions are that this could be the best Monster Hunter game to date.

KOTOR 2, Obsidian’s legendary RPG, is coming to mobile this month

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Obsidian Entertainment’s legendary RPG, is set to land on iOS and Android later this month. This one originally launched on Xbox all the way back in 2004, before hitting PC the following year.

While it doesn’t come up as often as its beloved predecessor, Obsidian’s game is no less special, serving up a compelling Star Wars yarn, a solid cast of characters, and a surprisingly dark tone. After all, you do play as what is thought to be one of the galaxy’s last remaining Jedi.

In true Obsidian fashion, you can expect to make many tough choices as you continue along on your adventure, ultimately deciding whether to stick to the light or embrace the power of the Sith Lords. Despite its age, it’s still well worth a shot – and playing it while on the go should be a nice bonus.

The port’s publisher, Aspyr Media, has been behind some of the most impressive mobile ports going, including Civilization VI, Jade Empire, and – yes – the original KOTOR. Speaking of Bioware’s classic, it’s currently heavily discounted on both the App Store and Google Play, just in case you fancy running through it ahead of KOTOR 2’s launch on December 18.

A solid port of KOTOR 2 could easily be among the best mobile RPGs, and iOS users can pre-order it now from the App Store for $14.99/£14.99.
