Get a free premium pass in grand strategy game Supremacy 1!

Grand strategy is a tough genre to bring to mobile, after all, how do you fit something so big into something so small? But you’d be surprised what’s possible when developers put their minds to it. Long term grand strategy has become especially popular on mobile in recent years, and it’s understandable when you consider that long term strategy is basically idle strategy, as you log on once per day, make a few tactical choices, and then forget about it until the next. It’s a genre which suits mobile surprisingly well.

That’s why we’ve decided to partner with Bytro Labs this week for our giveaway, to hand out some premium passes for WW1 game, Supremacy 1. In each campaign of Supremacy, you play against up to 84 players per match, and face off against each other to take control of the map. These games can last weeks, and sometimes even up to a month, so if you like depth to your strategy, this might be one for you.

Each premium pass gives you one month of High Command, which grants you a building queue, and rally points in the game, which essentially allows you to stack commands for units after they’ve finished recruiting.

Get a first look at Summoners War: Chronicles in the Gamescom 2020 trailer

Com2us presented Summoners War: Chronicles, the upcoming MMORPG sequel to the long-running gacha RPG, Summoners War, in a brand new gameplay trailer during Gamescom 2020. We have to say, it’s looking pretty snazzy. It shows off some of the fancy new traversal features, including climbing down cliffsides and whizzing down ziplines, as well as plenty of combat.

That’s where Summoners War: Chronicles seems to really shine. At first glance, it looks like a typical MMORPG, complete with a wide variety of gear to equip, flashy skills to unleash, and giant boss monsters to vanquish. Glance again, though, and you’ll recognise a few of your favourite monsters from the original. You still play as a summoner here, and bringing your favourite monsters into battle with you remains a big part of the experience.

There are plenty of opportunities to kick back though, with lifestyle skills playing a big part this time around. We got a glance at fishing, gathering herbs, and mining, and it all looked like a very relaxing way to spend an evening after a long day at work.

Overall, it looks all set to be a nice expansion to the existing Summoners War universe, with a wide variety of new content to enjoy. Most importantly, you can enjoy it with friends in fully persistent areas. This is an MMORPG, after all.

In other news, Com2us has announced a crossover with Street Fighter, which also received a teaser trailer at Gamescom. Your favourite characters, including Ryu, Ken, M. Bison, Chun-Li, and Dhalsim make an appearance as playable monsters in the original Summoners War. The best part is, you can experience this content right now.

The Garena Free Fire and Money Heist crossover Plan Bermuda is now live

The latest heist in Garena Free Fire is now live in-game. Plan Bermuda is an unlikely crossover between Free Fire and Netflix’s Money Heist, also known as La Casa de Papel. Plan Bermuda introduces a full in-game takeover, a new four-on-four game mode, and a fresh collection of classic outfits inspired by the Money Heist TV show.

As part of the Plan Bermuda update, a new game arrives in Garena Free Fire. Money Heist mode drops on September 19, and sees opposing teams race to collect the most cash before time runs out. The mode is best described as a domination-style game, where you have to gain control of a money printer and defend it to secure the cash. Whichever team reaches the allotted amount of cash inside the time limit wins.

Some other in-game activities arrive on September 6, but the Money Printing event won’t be available until September 12. This event focuses around printing money for prizes, and you can speed up the printing by completing daily events, recruiting friends, and adding Printer Fuel Tokens. The ultimate goal is to earn one million dollars before the event ends on September 22.

Plan Bermuda will also feature some new cosmetics, such as Money Heist themes, Plan Bermuda parachutes, and Shinobi, Kunoichi, and Street outfits

“Creating memorable experiences for our Free Fire community is key,” says Harold Teo, producer at Garena, regarding the partnership. “There are few better ways to do so than by teaming up with one of the most popular Netflix series, Money Heist.”

Dawn Awakening is a promising open-world zombie game launching in closed beta this month

Dawn Awakening is a zombie survival game from Tencent, who also brought us PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty: Mobile. While we don’t have an exact release date, we can confirm Dawn Awakening enters a closed beta test in China on September 16.

Tencent’s Lightspeed & Quantum studios revealed that Dawn Awakening aims to bring a console-like survival experience to mobile. The two-minute trailer revealed integral parts of gameplay, including scavenging for supplies, building your own base out in the wilderness, and tonnes of zombies. We were also given a glimpse at the world map, revealing multiple locations to explore, including small towns, a once densely populated metropolis, and plenty of wilderness.

What may well set Dawn Awakening apart from the myriad of zombie survival games on mobile is the dynamic weather, deadly interactive environments, and your survival meters. It appears that even features like cleanliness have been taken into account, as dirty clothes attract zombies, and poor hygiene upsets NPCs. Whether you are a fan of Tencent or not, Dawn Awakening looks like a well-polished, base-building, zombie survival game built for mobile.

Daniel Ahmad, a senior analyst at Niko Partners, broke the news over Twitter and was kind enough to include the new trailer. If you haven’t seen anything about Dawn Awakening, then we thoroughly recommend watching the trailer below.

Precise details about Dawn Awakening are still emerging, but it looks like the game definitely has a base-building component, as well as some character management, all while avoiding the swarms of bloodthirsty ravenous zombies.

Garena Free Fire adds Jai its first Indian character

Garena, the Singapore based publisher of Free Fire, has unveiled its first Indian playable character based on Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan. The new character, Jai, also sees the introduction of an exciting new campaign called ‘be the hero’.

This new addition to Free Fire comes after the Indian ministry of information and technology decided to ban over a hundred mobile games and applications, including PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite. It is well known that PUBG Mobile has a huge fan base in India, with over 175 million downloads since the game’s launch. Indian PUBG players have been aware of an incoming ban since as early as last year and began looking for battle royale alternatives. Interestingly, Free Fire’s popularity has grown over 880% in India since September 2019, significantly more than PUBG’s growth of 261% over the same period.

Garena is also not under scrutiny from the Indian Government as the ban has only affected Chinese-based mobile applications so far. This new character could be Garena’s opportunity to draw in more players following the widescale ban.

The character collaboration with Hrithik Roshan isn’t Garena’s first either. Alok was another character introduction based upon the popular Brazilian DJ of the same name. Free Fire also recently ran a collaboration the with Netflix series, Money Heist, adding a game mode and a bunch of new outfits.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer shows off its first gameplay trailer

CD Projekt has revealed some gameplay for its new Witcher mobile game on Android and iOS. The Witcher: Monster Slayer is a location-based monster-hunting RPG, where you take on the role of a Witcher and travel the Continent, dealing death to its most fearsome beasties. The game is developed and published by Spokko, an independent mobile game development studio who became part of the CD Projekt Red group in 2018. Here’s the setup for the game:

“Foul creatures roam the vast lands of the Continent — and it falls to those known as witchers to hunt them down. Set long before the time of Geralt of Rivia, The Witcher: Monster Slayer is an augmented-reality exploration game that challenges you to become an elite monster hunter. See the world around you transformed into the dark fantasy realm of The Witcher, and explore once-familiar locations now infested with dangerous beasts as you start on the path as a professional monster slayer.”

The new gameplay footage shows sword combat that looks somewhat remiscent of The Elder Scrolls: Blades, with blocking and directional sword swipes. But there are also bombs available, and signs, so you can bring the full Witcher arsenal to bear against whichever fearsome beast you face.

Monster Slayer seems to have some of the same investigative mechanics as The Witcher, as you uncover clues, and follow trails to find your quarry. It also looks like there are merchants and NPCs in the game.

We don’t currently know when The Witcher: Monster Slayer is coming to Android and iOS, but we do know the release date will be revealed later this year. If you live in New Zealand, however, the game is currently undergoing a play test on iOS, so be sure to grab it.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds’ official website is now live

Netmarble has released the official website for Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds ahead of the Japanese launch later this year. The MMORPG is confirmed for both iOS and Android devices but is yet to be confirmed for an international release.

Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds will include five starting classes for you to choose from, including the witch, swordsman, rogue, engineer, and destroyer. The MMORPG also includes PvP and PvE game modes, both of which involve real-time hack and slash combat. The story of Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds involves meeting a mysterious girl called Rania and learning about her secret mission. To complete her mission, you must battle lots of powerful enemies and rebuild a kingdom.

The new Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds website provides us with a detailed glimpse into the mobile MMORPG releasing later this year. The beautiful cel-shaded graphics, detailed information about the starting characters, and the bios of the adorable familiars you meet along the way are more than enough to get your fingers shaking with excitement.

Marvel Super War is now available in Australia and New Zealand

Marvel Super War has blasted its way onto iOS and Android in Australia and New Zealand. Marvel’s first-ever MOBA originally hit mobile devices in December 2019 and over the past year has become available in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, South Korea, Japan, and India. This most recent release also brings the game to Australia and New Zealand.

Marvel teamed up with NetEase Games to create a five-on-five real-time MOBA featuring all your favourite Marvel characters. Take control of over 50 heroes and villains from the Marvel universe, each with their own unique moves and playstyle. The 55+ characters are split into six types: fighter, energy, marksman, assassin, tank, and support. This means that strategy and a well-balanced team are essential, for those who want to win big.

If you are a fan of Marvel games and live in any of the regions specified above, you can grab a copy of Marvel Super War from the App Store or Google Play for free. If you don’t live in any of the selected regions, then you may want to check out Marvel Duel, a new Marvel-themed auto chess game which came out last month.

Company of Heroes charges on to Android and iPhone on September 10

Feral Interactive has announced that the world war II game, Company of Heroes, is making the jump to Android and iPhone on September 10. The classic RTS game landed on iPad earlier this year, and received pretty favourable reviews – read our very own Company of Heroes review for our thoughts! Here’s some more info about the release from Feral Interactive:

“Company of Heroes offers players an epic WWII campaign, with gameplay comprised of intense squad-based battles that progress from the D-Day landings through to the liberation of Normandy. Designed for phones, this version of the game allows mobile gamers to direct all the action from a user interface highly tailored to touch controls.”

Sounds like lots of fun to us! Company of Heroes is, of course, a premium game, and is going to set you back $13.99 (£13.99) when it launches on September 10. Either way, this port feels long overdue, and is especially exciting for Android users – like me – who are finally going get a chance to experience the classic RTS game on mobile.
