Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Character Profiles – Part One

Hey there heroes!

The world of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is filled with over a hundred characters that you can recruit for your cause. Convince the heroes you meet to join you and offer to help them with their own adventures in return. Each character has a unique story that intertwines with others and their own personalities that bring their own perspective (or drama) to the group.

You will meet these diverse cast of characters when the game launches, but we thought you should get to know some of them today. Meet Nowa, Seign, Lian, Garr, and Marisa!

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Nowa Character Art

Nowa

Male: 17 years old
Home: A remote village in the League of Nations
Favorite Food: Any dish with meat

“Leene always told me that my habit of sticking my nose into other people’s problems was something of an incurable disease. I’m going to help them. I’m not sure if I really can, but I know that I can’t just sit here and do nothing.”

When the League of Nations recruits warriors to assist in a joint expedition with the Galdean Empire, our protagonist answers the call and leaves his remote village to test his skills. On the mission, he finds an ancient rune-lens, unaware that the discovery will spark a war between the League and the Empire. After the conflict begins, he joins a unit in the League’s border guard.

The protagonist is the “leap before you look” type. He doesn’t always weigh the pros and cons before springing to action, and while his constant need to involve himself in other people’s problems sometimes creates headaches for his companions, they like him for it and know his heart is in the right place. After all, if they ever got into trouble, he’d be the first person there.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Seign Character Art

Seign

Male: 18 years old
Home: A noble house in the Galdean Empire
Favorite Food: Poached Egg

“Dreams and wishes alone won’t change this world. Reality isn’t that kind. You have my word; I will not hesitate to temporarily set aside my ideals if that’s what it takes to see them realized.”

The second-born son to House Kesling, a powerful imperial family. His older brother died on the battlefield. Seign is exceptionally gifted; after achieving outstanding grades at military academy, he was placed in command of a company of his peers and sent on the expedition to find the ancient rune-lens. During the mission, he meets the protagonist. The two warm to each other as they overcome adversity, and they learn of one another’s ambitions.

Seign’s strategic mind allows him to analyze things from a broad perspective and make sound decisions. People often confuse his clear mind for a cold heart, but he is guided by strong ideals and a deep passion to fulfill them. After his brother’s death during a border rebellion, Seign began to think long and hard about what it means to fight.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Marisa Character Art

Marisa

Female: 16 years old
Profession: One of the Guardians who watches over the forest
Favorite Food: Herbed chicken

“You just leave the forest to me. I know where the water springs, where the rabbits burrow and most importantly, where your enemies will try to hide.”

A young member of the Guardians, a clan that hallows and protects the forest. Since Marisa was very little her family has instilled their ways and traditions in her. She has a warm, affable smile — except on the battlefield, where she wears the countenance of a warrior.

Although the Guardians live as one with the forest, they have respect for the outside world’s culture and technology, and they are not against integrating the parts of it that make sense to them. Marisa is particularly forward-thinking in this regard and loves new things — especially cute things.

Over the generations, the Guardians have developed a unique method of wielding the rune-lenses. For that reason, both the Empire and the protagonist try to win them over to their camp. Whom the Guardians choose will prove to be a major turning point in history.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Lian Character Art

Lian

Female: 16 years old
Home: A martial arts dojo
Favorite Food: Super-spicy ramen

“Uhh, well, I’m not sure about the details, but basically some strange group suddenly showed up in my homeland and started walking around like the owned the place… I wanna wipe those cocky grins off their faces already!”

After the Empire’s forces invade league lands, Lian is infuriated and runs away from home without even the slightest semblance of a plan. She decides the first thing to do is hoof it to the biggest town she can find, and luckily that’s where she meets the protagonist and his companions.

Lian was born in a dojo, and her father wasted no time in teaching her. She was doing roundhouse kicks before she even learned to walk properly.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - Garr Character Art

Garr

Male: 32 years old
Profession: Warrior in a clan of mercenaries
Favorite Food: Pancakes slathered with whipped cream

“Only an idiot would let his leader be the first to run into danger. A warrior looking to profit would laugh the notion right off. But if you want to do the wrong thing, that’s what we’ll do. Life’s short enough as it is. Can’t spend every day worrying about whether it’ll all pay off.

A veteran beastman warrior. He and his clan make their living as mercenaries, and their vast experience and sheer brutality put them in high demand. War is all Garr has known, and to him life is one battlefield after the other until you die.

When a conflict breaks out, every army wants as many beastmen as they can afford. Because mercenary contracts are made with individuals and not the entire clan, it is not uncommon for Garr and his fellow beastmen to face each other as enemies in the field.

More to come!

Each of these characters, and the legions more that follow, are woven into the game with intricate and intertwining stories and gameplay led by Yoshitaka Murayama and Junko Kawano, both legendary creators most known for their work on the Suikoden games! You’ll find adventure around every turn and interact with a dizzying array of unique characters.

This is just the beginning. We will bring you regular updates to introduce more characters and more news on Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes throughout the journey to launch. We are very excited to reveal everything that we have in store!

Late Cretaceous Pack for Jurassic World Evolution 2 Releases September 15

Summary

  • New DLC for Jurassic World Evolution 2 releases September 15 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Features four stunning new prehistoric species.
  • Discover exciting species that roam the land, sea, and skies.

Following on from our last DLC, Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion, we’re adding four more awe-inspiring prehistoric species to help you expand your ever-evolving dinosaur parks. This time we’ve delved deep into the fascinating Late Cretaceous era to bring you spectacular new additions across land, sea, and air. Introduce them to your park by buying the Late Cretaceous Pack on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S when it releases tomorrow, September 15.

The Late Cretaceous age was a period over 65 million years ago that gave rise to all sorts of magnificent life forms. We chose to create this pack as the Cretaceous period had such diverse-looking species across the water, land, and air. It’s such a rich span of time to draw from, giving us amazing additions to Jurassic World Evolution 2, as well as making for a great companion to our Early Cretaceous Pack. So let’s explore the four new prehistoric animals featured in the soon to be released Late Cretaceous Pack.

First, Barbaridactylus, a flying hunter with a distinctive head crest. Our artists and designers have done a tremendous job bringing this species back to life. Barbaridactylus thrived towards the end of the Late Cretaceous age, and takes its name from the Barbary Coast of North Africa, near to where it was discovered. The Barbaridactylus is our first Nyctosaurid being added to the game and it’s really exciting to add a flying reptile with such a distinctive head crest. If you’ve not built an aviary in your park yet, I really recommend you get started so you can give a home to Barbaridactylus.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 - Late Cretaceous Pack

Next, Alamosaurus. This is a true titan, and one of the largest dinosaurs from North America. In fact, it can lay claim to being one of the largest dinosaurs ever. To give you an idea of its sheer scale, even its shinbone manages to outsize an average adult human. But that’s not all. Alamosaurus is armored too, sporting large spines running down its shoulders, back, and tail. With the Alamosaurus, I really like the shape and size of the neck – there’s a real heft to it as it moves around your parks.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 - Late Cretaceous Pack

Equally impressive is the medium-sized carnivore, Australovenator. Now, Australovenator is a speed demon, galloping around Late Cretaceous Australia with cheetah-like pace. Unlike a cheetah, however, this species has flexible, prehensile arms used for grabbing. In fact, one of my favorite elements is the unique animation for when the Australovenator reaches out and snags food. With its lightweight frame and hyper-mobility, this is an expert hunter excelling at stalking prey and running it down. Also, the patterning and colors on the Australovenator are some of my favorites. It has some really vibrant contrasting colors.

Another prehistoric animal we think you’ll love introducing into your park is Styxosaurus. This intimidating species is an efficient marine predator, ruling the waves with a lethal combination of large fins, streamlined shape, and deadly swiftness. Other than sounding very cool because it’s named after the River of Death, this is a great addition as it’s a marine reptile with bioluminescence to some of the pattern colors. At night, it’ll glow as it’s swimming around the lagoon.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 - Late Cretaceous Pack

Alongside the new pack, we will also be releasing free Update 4, with a range of new features coming your way. It contains improvements like the ability to wake up tranquillized dinosaurs using the new stimulant dart, either directly or through task assignment. And watch the skies, because flying reptiles can now attack capture team helicopters! There are also plenty of beautiful new lagoon decorations in the base-game update so you can personalize them, including banners, fountains, customizable lights, and even an Indominus rex skeleton, which can be placed at the bottom of the lagoon.

We’re so excited for you to give our latest DLC a go and discover the incredible new prehistoric animals waiting for you, as well as try out the all-new Update 4. Covering land, sea, and sky, they’re guaranteed to make amazing additions. Buy the Late Cretaceous Pack for Jurassic World Evolution 2 when it releases tomorrow on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and experience a world evolved!

NOTE: The Late Cretaceous Pack requires Jurassic Evolution 2 base game to play.

Nobody Saves the World — Frozen Hearth DLC is out Now

Summary

  • Nobody Saves the World’s DLC pack, Frozen Hearth, is out today
  • Play as the new Mechanic and Killer Bee forms
  • Meet new friends and foes and take on dizzying new challenges

Hey hey! Ian from Drinkbox Studios here, sharing my excitement for Nobody Saves the World’s first DLC pack: the Frozen Hearth, launching today! It’s packed with tons of new gameplay including a new overworld area to explore, two new playable forms, new challenges and puzzles to take on, and new friends to meet along the way.

screenshot

The Frozen Hearth takes you to a hidden region deep underground, home to a society that values creativity and competition above all else. Their annual tournament, The Tempering, is full of wild challenges and puzzles that will push any form-changing wizard to their limit. Can you kill hundreds of enemies in just one minute? Can you destroy a room full of targets without making a single attack? Can you get a hole-in-one in a makeshift game of minigolf? With enough cleverness and skill, the answer to all is: yes!

screenshot

By rising in the ranks of The Tempering, you’ll unlock two brand-new forms: the wildly different Mechanic and Killer Bee. The Mechanic is a scrappy, mustachioed gent who fights by building ranged turrets and repairing them with his oversized wrench. On the other hand, the Killer Bee is a tiny, nimble fighter who darts from one target to the next, grabbing honey that bursts out of enemies and getting powered up from the sugar high.

screenshot

Of course, the new forms can be used anywhere in the main game once they’re unlocked. Better yet, their abilities combine with the base game’s forms to create some really bonkers customizations. You can also play the entire DLC in solo or co-op, as long as you and a buddy both own the DLC. Cross-play is enabled for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and the Windows 10 Store, so grab a friend and get competing!

From me and everyone at Drinkbox, we hope you enjoy playing the Frozen Hearth as much as we enjoyed making it.

Ubisoft Forward: Multiple New Assassin’s Creed Games Announced, Taking the Franchise to Baghdad, Feudal Japan, and More

The future of Assassin’s Creed was revealed today at Ubisoft Forward, and it all starts in 2023 with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Taking place in ninth-century Baghdad, Assassin’s Creed Mirage centers on the coming-of-age story of Basim Ibn Is’haq, the Hidden One introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Two additional flagship Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed Codename Red and Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, were also teased, with the former taking place in the long-awaited setting of feudal Japan. Both titles will be part of the Assassin’s Creed Codename Infinity hub.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

A shorter, more narrative-driven game than recent entries in the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes place 20 years before the events of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as players meet a 17-year-old Basim (now voiced by Lee Majdoub) struggling with nightmarish visions and living life as a cunning street thief. Fortunately for Basim, the Hidden Ones (including his mentor Roshan, voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo) see his potential, and help him flee Baghdad to the Hidden Ones’ fortress of Alamut. As he learns their mysterious rituals and powerful tenets, he will hone his unique abilities, discover his true nature, and come to understand a new Creed – one that will change his fate in ways he never could have imagined.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Screenshot

Built as an homage to the first Assassin’s Creed games, Mirage pays tribute to the series’ roots, as players join the proto-Assassin order known as the Hidden Ones and grow to become a master assassin. Baghdad in the ninth century was a bustling metropolis, and it serves as the perfect dense, urban hunting ground, as Basim stalks his prey using the series’ largest assortment of tools to date. While they haven’t quite adopted the name “Assassins” at this point in history, make no mistake: The Hidden Ones are a powerful and established order, with resources and the all-important Creed to guide them. As Basim explores Baghdad, he’ll be able to get contracts and upgrades from a network of Hidden One bureaus throughout the city, as well as collect clues on his targets and take them down with swift assassinations.

Of course, an assassin’s greatest advantage comes from their climbing ability, and as the series returns to a large-scale urban environment, Basim will need to leap across rooftops, scale tall towers, and flee guards by parkouring seamlessly through Baghdad’s four distinct districts. When information can’t be gained by gathering clues, Basim’s eagle Enkidu can take to the skies, survey areas, and tag enemies for Basim to stealthily eliminate.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches in 2023 on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec (makers of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate) with Creative Director Jonathan Dumont. The game will be the next evolution of Assassin’s Creed’s open-world RPG design and take players to the long-awaited setting of feudal Japan.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe

Following Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, which is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, with Clint Hocking serving as creative director.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Infinity

Red and Hexe will both be a part of Assassin’s Creed Codename Infinity, a hub that will connect players through different types of Assassin’s Creed experiences, old and new. Infinity will also bring multiplayer back to Assassin’s Creed with a standalone experience.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available now to pre-order at the Ubisoft Store. Reserve your copy now to be one of the first to explore ninth-century Baghdad.

Ubisoft Forward: Skull and Bones Previews Ship Customization and Smuggling Networks

Skull and Bones, coming to Xbox Series X|S on November 8, lets players explore a fictionalized version of the Indian Ocean during the Golden Age of Piracy — but piracy didn’t just spring up from nowhere. It fed off a rich trade in spices, silks, and other hot commodities for 17th-century Europeans. These lucrative pickings led pirates to a new business opportunity: their own secret smuggling networks.

Skull and Bones Screenshot

During Ubisoft Forward, the Skull and Bones team revealed a bit more about these networks, which are only revealed to you once you’ve earned the right to know. To achieve that, you’ll have to grow your Infamy and eventually unlock your own pirate lair — known as The Helm — which becomes the base of your smuggling operations. This is where you’ll be able to manufacture high-value goods, like Rum and Opium, before selling them to whoever’s got the deepest pockets. From here, you’ll also have more leeway to choose your own contracts, rather than be at the mercy of other pirate Kingpins.

The Ubisoft Forward presentation also revealed more about how you’ll be able to build and customize your ships. Each ship type is geared toward different kinds of playstyles, whether you’re looking for maneuverability, power, or cargo capacity, but each also comes with certain perks; for example, the Sambuk gives an advantage to players using fire weapons, while the Brig — already a heavy hitter — can deal even more damage when it’s anchored. And that’s just the start — each ship can then be fitted with different weapons, ammo, armor, furniture, and cosmetic items, letting players tailor them to specific tasks and make them uniquely their own.

Skull and Bones Screenshot

Arming your ship is about more than just stockpiling cannonballs; you’ll need to consider what you want to accomplish. Do you prefer to sink enemy vessels and plunder their watery remains? Then you’ll want piercing ammo, which punches through armor and lets the water rush in, or fire ammo, which can wreak all kinds of havoc on a big wooden structure. If you want to disable ships for easy boarding, however, tearing ammo will make short work of their sails. And there’s a huge variety of weapons to choose from, with different cannons, ballistae, mortars, rocket launchers, and even torpedoes, each with unique damage types to keep your enemies guessing.

That said, each weapon also has an armor type that can counter it; you wouldn’t want to use a flamethrower against a ship clad in leather panels, for example, as leather is strong against fire damage. Learning to recognize what your enemies are using to protect themselves, and responding with a weapon that can completely destroy it, is one of many ways to survive at sea.

Skull and Bones Screenshot

As a fully online game, Skull and Bones will require an Xbox account and Xbox Live Gold subscription to play. Do you have what it takes to survive and become a pirate Kingpin on the high seas? Find out on November 8, when Skull and Bones launches for Xbox Series X|S.

Prepare to Journey to Beacon Pines Where a Single Word Can Change Everything

Summary

  • Beacon Pines is a cute and creepy adventure game with a dark mystery and a nifty twist: the player fills in the blanks of the story.
  • The scrappy team of three have spent nearly five years lovingly crafting Beacon Pines into a story that could be described as Winnie-the-Pooh meets Stranger Things.

Hiding Spot Games’ upcoming adventure Beacon Pines is not as innocent as it looks on the surface. The scrappy team of three have spent nearly five years lovingly crafting Beacon Pines into a story that could be described as Winnie-the-Pooh meets Stranger Things.

Beacon Pines Screenshot

The upcoming narrative game, published by Fellow Traveller and arriving on Xbox One and with Game Pass on September 22, follows the journey of a young boy named Luka. When the old warehouse outside of town starts glowing, and folks go missing, Luka and his friends set off to uncover the creepy roots beneath their town’s cozy veneer.

You’ll play as both the reader of a mysterious book, and Luka, the story’s main character. By exploring the town of Beacon Pines, you’ll discover ‘charms’, collectable words that can be slotted into the narration to completely alter the story that unfolds.

Beacon Pines Screenshot

Not only can charms be used to change the outcome of the current branch of the story, but to jump to a completely different point and rewrite the story in drastic ways. To navigate the many story branches, the game introduces you to ‘The Chronicle’, an interactive illustrated tree that branches and expands based on the decisions you’ve made.

Beacon Pines oozes with mysteries waiting to be revealed. How will Luka’s story unfold? His fate, and that of Beacon Pines, will depend solely on the words that you, the player, choose.

Celebrate NFL Kickoff during the Madden NFL 23 Free Play Weekend September 8-11! Start building your dream roster in Ultimate Team and upgrade your squad early with Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu Ultimate Kickoff Champion player items.

From the new FieldSense gameplay foundation to updates in Franchise and Ultimate Team, there’s something for every Madden NFL player.

What is FieldSense?

FieldSense is an all-new gameplay foundation that provides consistent, ultra-realistic gameplay by giving you more control at every position on the field. FieldSense affects every game mode in Madden NFL 23 and is only available on Xbox Series X|S.

Madden NFL 23 Screenshot

FieldSense is driven by new animations rooted in physics and animation-branching technology, to make gameplay genuine, diverse, and realistic. This excellent new gameplay foundation has four key components in Madden NFL 23: Hit Everything, Skill-Based Passing, 360° Cuts, and WR vs DB Battles.

Hit Everything breathes new life into defensive pursuit in Madden NFL 23 with new mechanics that let you disrupt more than ever on the defensive side of the ball. Perform mid-air knockouts, blow up blocks, hit the pile to assist teammates, and force more turnovers with skillful stand-up tackles.

With Skill-Based Passing, you can lead your receivers to open space, unleash back-shoulder throws where nobody expects them (except your receiver), and drop dimes in precise spots with surgical accuracy. Use a new accuracy reticle and passing meter to make your passes inch-perfect.

Madden NFL 23 Screenshot

No matter what position you are with the ball in your hand, new 360° Cuts provide freedom and fluidity for ball-carriers so they can do exactly what they need to do to get more yards. Hit gaps as you see them, plant-and-go, and dodge defenders to open up space and break highlight-reel plays.

With WR vs. DB Battles, this fresh set of new wide receiver release moves and defensive back counter press techniques can create entertaining and game-breaking 1-v-1 battles off the line. Utilize fancy footwork on both sides of the ball to make your biggest plays yet.

What’s new to Franchise?

Free Agency is a huge deal when building a team in the NFL, and Franchise mode shouldn’t be any different. In Madden NFL 23, new systems and features in Franchise bring our players closer to the excitement and strategy of one of the most nail-biting parts of any NFL general manager’s career.

Madden NFL 23 Screenshot

Players used to just sign up for a team in Franchise based on money. Now, every player has three specific Motivations regarding the type of team they want to sign for or trade to. These can range from location, coach prestige, team composition and more, and all players start with 3 Motivations that can change as the player progresses in his career.

Scouting Updates

Over 50 scouts have been added, bringing the total number of scouts to 260. Every position has at least one scout per tier with every expertise, so you can find the right scout for your team — now it’s your turn to make them an offer.

Ultimate Team Updates and New Features

There are three primary types of Field Passes: Season, Competitive, and Ultimate Team program-specific passes.
  • MUT Champions: MUT Champions is more convenient than ever, and games are available to play any day of the week with a reset every Monday. By moving up the levels of the Competitive Pass, you’ll be able to earn Entry Tokens. Entry Tokens also don’t expire and can be stored in your item binder to be used immediately or saved for later.
  • Sets 2.0: With the new simplified Sets, it now takes only three button presses to get everything where you need it to complete a Set. Sets will also be accessible from the Item Binder, so you can toggle over and instantly access Sets and Set rewards.

Steelrising’s Assist Mode is a Unique Take on the Soulslike Genre

Steelrising is a soulslike set in Paris, 1789, during an alternate version of the French Revolution. Storytelling is an important expertise of Spiders, and you will be required to solve various intrigues, defeat incredible foes, and explore a twisted version of Paris to return power to the people and bring the revolution to one of multiple possible endings.

The soulslike genre is still inherently very demanding, and all its inspired mechanics might be tough to jump into, which is why we’re offering an Assist Mode.

In Steelrising, several settings that are very common in soulslike games can be adjusted:

  • The amount of damage received by Aegis (your playable character)
  • The speed at which endurance regenerates
  • Whether XP (Anima Essence) is lost or kept upon death
  • How easy it is to perform perfect cooldowns

This subject was raised at the beginning of development following messages from fans who found the Story Mode of our previous game still too difficult. The team was also able to attend an accessibility training course to be better able to find the most suitable solution for Steelrising. In the end we decided not to have a difficulty mode per se, but to allow players to set individual parameters themselves to tailor their experience with the combat system.

The pacing of the game remains unchanged, and the timing of attacks and the aggressiveness of the enemies also remain as they are in the base game.

The Assist Mode can be activated at the beginning of the game and can also be activated or deactivated at any time from the options menu. So, feel free to use it just for a specific boss or mob you have issue with. Beware, however, if you intend to unlock all the achievements, as some difficulty-related ones will not be available if Assist Mode has been activated at least once during a game.

Of course, it is also possible to reassign the majority of the buttons on the controller.

We hope that those daunted by soulslikes will be tempted by a first foray into this genre to experience the world of Steelrising, in what remains a Spiders RPG through and through. Steelrising is available starting today on the Xbox Store for Xbox Series X|S. Vive la Révolution!

5 Tips to Start Your Journey Off Right in Temtem – Out Today!

Tamers everywhere, it’s time to meet your friends, Temtem up, and set out on a new adventureTemtem 1.0 is out on Xbox Series X|S today!

If you’re unfamiliar with the vibrant and adventure-filled world of Temtem, there’s no better day than today to experience it for yourself. In Temtem, you journey alongside your Temtem squad and join players from around the planet on a massively multiplayer creature-collection adventure. Together, you’ll explore the Airborne Archipelago – experiencing the story campaign, catching new Temtem on Omninesia’s floating islands, battling other tamers on the sandy beaches of Deniz, trading with your friends in Tucma’s ash-covered fields, and exploring every corner of Temtem’s dynamic online world.

Temtem

Xbox Series X|S players can enjoy Temtem in 4K and 60 fps, which is a great way to appreciate all the little details of the Archipelago. And if you want to journey with a pal, you can also invite your friends through Xbox’s friend system, and the game will do its best to pair you up on the same shard of the server.

There’s lots to discover – and if you’re wondering where to begin, here are five pointers to help you get your journey started in the right direction.

Temtem

Play Favorites With Your Starting Temtem

Very early in the game, you’ll have to make a choice between which of three Temtem you want to start with. Crystle is a cute but tough Temtem that looks like the Archipelago’s smaragdine turtles, but is actually closer to minerals than to fauna. The cheerful and fun loving Smazee was bred for generations as a playmate and babysitter for children, but is a capable fighter when push comes to shove. Finally, the clever Houchic is empathic and intuitive, capable of understanding the subtleties of mentalism.

While it may seem like a hard decision, and you may be tempted to do a bunch of research before you make your choice, don’t sweat it too much – each will prove to be a great introductory companion, and you’ll be able to tame them all later down the road.

Stock Up on These Supplies

The shops around the Archipelago sell lots of different handy items, but there are a few in particular you’ll want to take along with you as soon as you can. Balms will heal your injured Temtem and help them stay in the fight, while Smoke Bombs will transport you back to a recent safe spot if things get particularly rough, or you just want to take a break. (Oh, and if you find yourself in a pinch at the beginning of the adventure, Aina will heal you in your home if you talk to her.)  And always be sure to carry a healthy stack of TemCards, which you’ll use to…

Temtem

Capture as Many Temtem as You Can!

In addition to the satisfaction of collecting, you’ll open up more options for squad synergies that can give you an advantage in battle (sometimes quite a powerful one!), which can mean the difference between victory and defeat. Keep your team varied, and don’t focus on one type only, or you may find yourself struggling in the Dojos later on. Even if you don’t want a Temtem on your squad, capturing a Tem will let you see their strengths and weaknesses in combat so you can better plan your strategy.

Watch Your Rival’s Stamina

Want one not-so-obvious trick that tamers can use to turn the tide in battle? Try swapping your Temtem in and out of combat while your rival is low on Stamina. The rival Tem will overexert itself…and overexerted Tems can’t attack on the next turn – effectively earning you a free turn!

Another stamina-related tip: If you’re lucky enough to find a Luma (that’s a sparkly, glowy, rare version of a Temtem), don’t attack it! Use a Status Condition that increases your chance of taming it, and let it damage itself through overexertion.

Temtem

Take Your Time Exploring

While you’re probably eager to get going on your journey, it pays to take time and just explore the world. Make sure to drop by the Accademia, where you’ll find books that cover Temtem combat and can give you a head start. Talk to other Tamers’ Temtem, and you’ll add their entry to your Tempedia. Even the Airborne Archipelago’s trash cans might hold a surprise or two!

This is just the start, and there’s lots to look forward to later on in your Temtem journey – including the start of the first themed Season (Launch Party!) featuring weekly quests to level up your Tamer Pass and obtain free and premium rewards. Ultimately, you’ll discover a vast variety of endgame-focused activities on Tamer’s Paradise, the final island of the Archipelago.

Hey, now it’s time – pick up Temtem and start your own adventure today!
