The next generation of Madden NFL 21 on Xbox Series X|S is here! Fueled by real-world Next Gen Stats and authentic new environments inside NFL stadiums, you can experience it all starting today, December 4.

Next Gen Stats and New Player Movement

A completely new animation system in the next generation of Madden NFL 21 is fueled by Next Gen Stats, the NFL’s player tracking technology that captures real-time location data, speed, and acceleration for every player for every play on every inch of the field. You know those advanced stats that pop up while you’re watching an NFL game, like Ball Carrier Speed, Time to Throw, or Completed Air Distance? Those are Next Gen Stats. And all this data collected by RFID chips in players’ shoulder pads has been integrated into the Madden NFL 21 animation engine to re-create fluid, athletic player movement when running, cutting, and changing direction for all 22 players on the field.

The Next Gen Stats Player Movement innovation also impacts wide receiver route-running in a big way as WRs will run actual routes logged by NGS data from real NFL games. In addition to speed and acceleration rates, our animation engine is also leveraging player-specific route paths from Next Gen Stats for individual receivers.

There’s also a big impact on the defensive side of the ball. This new player movement affects defensive players in terms of speed, facing direction, and acceleration. Backpedaling, strafing, and reacting and making breaks on plays is more realistic thanks to next gen technology.

Next Gen Stats Replays

Another feature stemming from the integration of the NFL’s Next Gen Stats data is an all-new replay system. You can now relive the thrill of victory backed by Next Gen Stats data. Certain statistical moments will trigger these replays that are presented in beautifully rendered cinematics, highlighting the biggest plays by the best players in the game. Nobody can argue a big play backed by hard data, so the bragging rights are all yours.

Star-Driven Play Calling

Call the best play for the right player on every single down. With new star-driven play calling, getting the ball into the hands of your Superstar X-Factors in Madden NFL 21 has never been easier. Plus, with the new favorite play marker, you can put all your preferred plays on speed-dial to quickly call them in the most high-pressure moments.

Next Gen Player Bodies

New player physiques in the next generation of Madden NFL 21 separates the best in the league from the rest. NFL athletes are built differently depending on the positions they play, and these differences are more distinct thanks to next generation technology that delivers new levels of detail and realism. All player bodies in the next generation of Madden NFL are brand new to accurately represent the various athletic body types across the league. Play World

Hello, People of the Fog. 

A new chapter is now available in Dead by Daylight and brings with it a unique killer and survivor. The theme of the chapter is family: what we do for family, what we sacrifice for family, how family builds and shapes who we are… And our new killer knows about family as it is a conjoined brother and sister, also known as The Twins! Let’s hear more from Dead by Daylight Creative Director Dave Richard.

Dead by Daylight Associate Brand Manager Thomas Carpentier: It’s the first time that a killer is composed of two different characters. How did the idea come to the development team? What was unique and interesting as the development progressed? 

Dead by Daylight Creative Director Dave Richard: The ability to separate and control multiple independent characters with different abilities has always been a fascinating concept to the team. Over the years, we considered it many times, in different shapes and forms. However, we had to put the idea aside because of production challenges and technical limitations. Thanks to a bigger and more experienced team (and a lot of effort!) The Twins are now a reality!

As you might expect, The Twins’ design was challenging. A killer that separates in two changes the whole dynamic of a regular match… if there ever was “regular” in Dead by Daylight. It was essential to keep both Charlotte and Victor useful and give a reason to often switch between the two. We also made sure the extra pressure on survivors was adequate by prototyping, testing, and tweaking the killers’ components. The biggest challenges were on the animation team, who did marvellously. The Twins are full of personality, and Victor is sure to make you freak out at some point in a trial! 

Carpentier: Can you tell us more about The Twins?

Richard: Charlotte and Victor’s story is a grim one. The siblings are born conjoined in 17th century France that considers their very existence a curse. Stolen from their mother and tortured for years in cultists’ dark rituals, they suffered many hardships. To Charlotte’s despair, Victor died when she escaped the cult’s grasp, his lifeless body still attached to her. She then survived by scavenging, stealing, and sometimes killing, always trying to protect her dead brother. When The Entity took them, Victor was revived, and even if he’s now a monster fueled by spite, she loves him dearly.

In the game, The Twins show their different personalities through their abilities. Both characters are independent; the player can freely switch between the two. Charlotte, hulking, emotionless, protects her brother with giant weapons and tools scavenged from the many villages and cities she looted. Her size allows her to do all the standard killer actions such as transporting and hooking. The malicious Victor can detach entirely and let his rage cause havoc. He’s swift and can pounce and attach to survivors, injuring them in the process. Victor also reveals the other survivors’ positions to his sister.  

Carpentier: The new survivor is Élodie Rakoto. Can you tell us more about her story and what makes her unique? 

Richard: Élodie is an awesome French Malagasy artifact hunter who dedicated her life to researching the occult. When she was a kid, her parents disappeared in a mysterious and catastrophic event. From this point, her efforts and focus were to study, research, and explore the religious, occult, and anything that could help her understand what happened to her parents. All this knowledge brought her very close to The Entity and groups orbiting around it. Élodie’s often “in the field.” She explores dangerous sites and retrieves ancient artifacts linked to her research, which eventually leads her to the realms of The Entity.

Élodie brings three unique perks to the survivor toolset, which allow her to use her tenacity and quick thinking to stay one step ahead in a trial. Either to deceive the Killer or even fight him back, she has an interesting playstyle that differs from other Survivors.

A final note on Élodie, as I’d like to say we are delighted by the feedback given by the community. The team strives to make our characters as diverse as possible with different backgrounds, origins, ethnicities, and cultures. Representation is important, and we continue to believe it. 

Carpentier: The new chapter releases early in December, what can we expect for the holidays season?

Richard: We have a few surprises in our sack, but how about some free cosmetics and currency? Starting today, and until January 3, we will provide players with currency upon logging in the game. On top of that, a handful of cosmetic rewards will be available via Redeem Codes. Keep your eyes peeled, this will be a busy moment for you players. Oh, and remember: if you already possess the Xbox One version of the game, you can get the upgrade to the Xbox Series X version for free thanks to Smart Delivery.

Death Is Not an Escape. Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught, tortured and killed. Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness. The Killer plays in first-person and is more focused on their prey. The Survivors’ goal in each encounter is to escape the Killing Ground without getting caught by the Killer – something that sounds easier than it is, especially when the environment changes every time you play.

This month marked the start of the next generation of console gaming on Xbox with the release of Xbox Series X|S, and Team Xbox is excited to continue bringing new ways to make your experience on Xbox even better. Just like we’ve done on Xbox One, we will continue to periodically release software updates designed to improve your Xbox gaming experience based on your feedback, including both delivering you new features and fixing bugs. This month’s release includes new options for dynamic backgrounds, new “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S” badges that make it easier to know which games are optimized for the next generation, a new way to discover games in Xbox Game Pass, the ability to add existing Xbox family members to a new console, and the usual bug fixes and performance improvements.

Personalize your Xbox Series X|S with new dynamic background designs

Dynamic backgrounds are a new feature for Xbox Series X|S, giving gamers the ability to customize their home screen with motion and color. This update adds six new options, including homages to previous generations of Xbox consoles and others based on popular profile themes. Initial fan feedback on the feature has been very positive, and we’re excited to explore additional styles, colors, and designs. You can expect the team to continue adding new dynamic backgrounds in future Xbox console updates!

Identify which games are using Auto HDR with new tech tags

Xbox Series X|S is the best place to play thousands of games from across four generations of Xbox. Besides decreased load times and improved frame rates, Xbox Series X|S customers enjoy improved visual quality with a feature called Auto HDR. When the Auto HDR setting is turned on in your console, it can improve the visual quality of a game without changing its overall look with no additional work from the developer. When you open the guide during a game with Auto HDR running, you’ll see a new tag to let you know the game is benefiting from this feature.

“Optimized for Series X|S” badges let you know which games are optimized

Xbox launched over 30 games fully optimized for Series X|S, including Assassins Creed: Valhalla, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and The Falconeer. Many of your favorite Xbox One games – including Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps – have released updates to take advantage of the increased performance of Xbox Series X|S. To make it easier to see which of your games have been optimized, we’ve added an “X|S” badge to their tiles in My Games and Apps, in both the Games and Full Library views. You can also use the Filter button to see only “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S” games.

The Game Activity tab is your single place in the guide to explore things to do in the game you’re currently playing. Hunt those achievements, easily join your friends or others playing the game, or discover in-game events, right from the comfort of the guide!

Add family member accounts during setup

In September we launched the Xbox Family Settings app on Android and iOS. Right from their phone, parents and caregivers can easily create child accounts, update screen time limits, respond to notifications, and much more. As a result, many gamers are already using family settings on Xbox today. And, those gamers with existing Xbox families will now be able to add family members to their console, right from setup.

Pre-install games that are “Coming soon” to Xbox Game Pass!

You can now view, add to “Play later,” and even pre-install certain games before they come to Xbox Game Pass. Just head over to the Xbox Game Pass app on your console or mobile device and look for the “Coming soon” section. While not all games that are “Coming soon” can be pre-installed, we did develop a special feature for the Game Pass mobile app that lets you queue the rest to install on day one. Though you’ll still have to wait to play them like everyone else, your game can be downloaded and ready to play the day it’s available!

In the Wasteland DLC, we aimed to resolve the most pressing community issues with cars, wheels, and console controls. Regarding new content, we added a new planet, stylish off-road wheels, compact cockpits, viewport blocks, exhaust pipes, and the much-anticipated concrete armor skin together with dust, rust, and retro sci-fi skins. Wasteland has been a very special project for us and something we hope you love!

Our “apocalyptic” vision would not be complete without the addition of the Scavenger suit and two new themed emotes. More free quality of life features available in this update are the visual scripting tool now integrating dedicated server support, ultimate spectator mode, and a complete rebalance of Hydrogen (based on community feedback).

We are pleased to announce the release of the Wasteland update! A collection of “apocalyptic future” themed blocks, armor skins, terrain, and new “quality of life” features and improvements. Enjoy Wasteland on the dunes of an all-new planet in our adrenalin-packed high-speed racing scenario.

We are excited to reveal that the award-winning horror puzzle platformer Darq is coming to Xbox One on December 4 in the all-new shape of Darq: Complete Edition, which includes the base game plus DLCs The Tower and the yet-to-be released The Crypt!

For the first time ever, player on Xbox One will be able to experience the adventure of Lloyd, a boy who becomes aware of the fact that he is dreaming.
