How often does anyone get to boast that they’re launching three games at the same time? This is a banner day for the team at Paradox, along with our friends at Xbox, Codeglue, and Harebrained Schemes, as we all get to bring the amazing universe of Shadowrun to life for a new audience. If you’ve somehow managed to never experience Shadowrun in its nearly 35-year history, you’re in for something special, and we’re honored to be the ones to welcome you into this world of megacorps, magic, and mystery. Xbox Game Pass players now have three points of entry into this amazing setting — Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun: Dragonfall, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong, all available collectively as the Shadowrun Trilogy.
Shadowrun, for the uninitiated, is a role-playing game set in a dark, dystopian future, where advanced technology and magic tangle together into a web of corporate espionage, urban warfare, and cyber-crime. Players take on the roles of the eponymous and anonymous “shadowrunners,” specialists and operatives who handle the dirty work for powerful corporations and syndicates when there’s data to be hacked or heads to be cracked. The setting has grown deeper, more intriguing, and increasingly popular with every new edition and game, and we’re not the only ones who think so; the original PC release of Shadowrun Returns was funded on Kickstarter in just 28 hours!
The team at Harebrained Schemes, including the original creators of Shadowrun, brought this fantastic world to life as an isometric tactical RPG with Shadowrun Returns on PC, and players and critics alike responded in a big way; big enough to let the team build two more games, Shadowrun: Dragonfall and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. There’s been a lot of fantastic new experiences over on the tabletop side of Shadowrun, too, with the sixth edition of the core TTRPG releasing as Shadowrun: Sixth World recently, and the Sixth World Companion book full of new character options just this year!
Nothing makes us happier than when people get to visit this wild, weird world for the first time, and when we got the opportunity to work together with Harebrained Schemes, Codeglue, and Xbox to bring the Shadowrun Trilogy to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, we put a team of deckers together right away, optimizing these fantastic games for controllers and improved console performance. Now we get to share Shadowrun three times over with everyone on Xbox Game Pass, and let new players experience the amazing stories and tactical combat of these celebrated classics.
What’s more, there’s a lot happening this summer for Shadowrun fans who’ve been around for a while, too. The classic RPG is leaping into the virtual tabletop realm on Roll20 with a free release of the Shadowrun: Sixth World Quick-Start Rules! This introductory set is going to be followed by full digital releases of the Core Rulebook and the new Sixth World Companion soon, so you can experience Shadowrun no matter where and how you game, and enjoy this incredible world all summer long.
Tap into our world with the Shadowrun Trilogy and let us know what you think — we’ll see you in the shadows.

Xbox Game Pass
The Shadowrun Trilogy comprises 3 cult tactical RPG games taking place in a dystopian cyberpunk future in which magic has re-awakened, bringing back to life creatures of high fantasy. Initially created as a tabletop RPG over 30 years ago, this one-of-a-kind setting that has gained a huge cult following during the past three decades. Shadowrun Returns
The unique cyberpunk-meets-fantasy world of Shadowrun has gained a huge cult following since its creation over 30 years ago. Nearly 10 years ago, creator Jordan Weisman returned to the world of Shadowrun, modernizing this classic game setting as a single player, turn-based tactical RPG. In the urban sprawl of the Seattle metroplex, the search for a mysterious killer sets you on a trail that leads from the darkest slums to the city’s most powerful megacorps. You will need to tread carefully, enlist the aid of other runners, and master powerful forces of technology and magic in order to emerge from the shadows of Seattle unscathed. Shadowrun Dragonfall – Director’s Cut
In 2012, magic returned to our world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Among them was the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge, who emerged without warning from the mountains of Germany, unleashing fire, death, and untold destruction across the countryside. It took German forces nearly four months to finally shoot her down – and when they did, their victory became known as The Dragonfall. It’s 42 years later – 2054 – and the world has changed. Unchecked advances in technology have blurred the line between man and machine. Elves and trolls walk among us, ruthless corporations bleed the world dry, and Feuerschwinge’s reign of terror is just a distant memory. Germany is splintered – a stable anarchy known as the “Flux State” controls the city of Berlin. It’s a place where power is ephemeral, almost anything goes, and the right connections can be the difference between success and starvation. For you and your team of battle-scarred shadowrunners, there’s no better place to earn a quick payday. Now, a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return… Shadowrun Hong Kong – Extended Edition
HONG KONG. A stable and prosperous port of call in a sea of chaos, warfare, and political turmoil. The Hong Kong Free Enterprise Zone is a land of contradictions – it is one of the most successful centers of business in the Sixth World, and home to one of the world’s most dangerous sprawl sites. A land of bright lights, gleaming towers, and restless spirits where life is cheap and everything is for sale. As an ex-con living in Seattle, you try to make an honest living but when your foster begs you to meet him in China, things turn grim and you find out the police are trying to arrest you. And by arrest, they mean to kill you on sight! Build your team of Shadowrunners, mercenaries with big personalities who can fight using mystical or technical powers, and turn the tables on the elite corporate and the police. Through real-time exploration and turn-based action, you will be met with deadly conspiracy, corporate greed, Triads, social segregation, and gang wars.

One of the biggest American holidays is no stranger to Legends! This time around, a whole lot of activities and bonuses is awaiting courageous captains on the high seas.
First off, the Dum Spiro Spero mission. It is totally free and is named after South Carolina’s official motto. The ultimate prize? You guessed it right, it is the American Tier III Premium battleship South Carolina! The assignment is available to complete until July 25.
More bonuses come in the form of Windroses for American ships. Each first win for Tier IV-Legendary ships between July 4 and July 25 will result in getting a one-time bonus, depending on the ship tier. Those include camouflages, crates, and Commander Progression items.
There’s also a way to get more – permanent – camos and a couple of exclusive Star-Spangled skins for Cleveland and Baltimore, by completing the special Broad Stripes and Bright Stars time-limited Bureau project.
Nice finishing touches? Of course! Themed Philippines port, Liberty Package bundle for free in the Microsoft Store, and weekly rotating discounts for USN-related content in the special tab of the Store, including 40% off selected XXL ship bundles all fall in this category!
Lucky Six campaign
This campaign is special, despite being the classic 100-milestone 5-week endeavor with the catch-up mechanic enabled. It features two American Premium ships: Tier VII destroyer Black and Tier V aircraft carrier Independence. Admiralty Backing is required to obtain at least one of those upon finishing the campaign, with the ship that was not the primary choice being available to get for doubloons.
Black is a versatile destroyer with rapid-reloading guns and Radar consumable in her arsenal, while Independence, becoming the first aircraft carrier to feature as the ultimate campaign reward, allows to deploy powerful units of both torpedo and dive bombers.
Tier VIII is coming
One more Tier is coming to Legends! It will be introduced with the next update, but for now we are ready to unveil, that the first wave of tech tree ships will include 12 ships from 4 nations (USA, Japan, Germany, USSR), but even the initial content drop for Tier VIII will not be limited by that number – with more mighty Legends to come later this year. Stay tuned…
Pan-European destroyers leave Early Access
Branch-topping Tier VII Östergötland is here! She features powerful AA defenses, fast torpedo reloads and even faster torpedo movement as well as powerful main battery guns make her a sailing arsenal, that might not even need to smoke up! Her arrival – as always – means that the Early Access line of Pan-European destroyers is available for research. Fast torpedoes and powerful artillery layouts, as well as Repair Party consumable, are more than enough to compensate for the lack of Smoke Generator. These ships are a perfect opportunity to try a combo of features picked from within both gun- and torpedo-boat playstyles.
It is reinforced by the release of Pan-European Tier IV heavy-hitting battleship Viribus Unitis on June 27, with a special Commander Janko Vukovich also making his Legendary debut. The battleship is up for grabs in the Store, while the admiral can be found in the all-new European Commander crates, along with 3 his peers. Two of those, Jerzy Świrski and Stig Hansson Ericson, are perfectly fit to helm the swift destroyers!
Balance changes
This update will see a buff for four Italian battleships, such as Tier VII Vittorio Veneto and Roma, and a couple of Japanese ships, as well as the introduction of Semi-AP shells for Italian cruisers. Those are coming as a test flight, so there’s a chance to see some changes regarding such ammunition.
Chill on the seas this summer with Legends and turn the tide!
Deploy to Fortune’s Keep, a new Warzone Resurgence map featuring stunning vistas and undiscovered riches.
Fight aboard the USS Texas 1945 Multiplayer map, and cycle through every weapon to secure victory in Blueprint Gun Game.
Trudge through the swamps of Shi No Numa in the return of classic round-based play.
Enough is never enough. With the promise of newfound riches, our Tier 1 Operators have split off into mercenary factions with one goal in mind: Get rich or die trying.
Test your mettle in Mercenaries of Fortune, the fourth season of Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone, which brings a new Warzone map, new Multiplayer maps, new weapons, Gun Game, 100 Tiers of Battle Pass content, and the return of classic round-based Zombies in Shi No Numa.
Mercenaries of Fortune launches on Xbox on June 22. Here’s what’s coming.
Gear Up With the Battle Pass
Get equipped for the gold-hunting battles ahead with the Mercenaries of Fortune Battle Pass, featuring 100 Tiers of new content, including two new free weapons: the Marco 5 SMG and the UGM-8 LMG.
Marco 5: This is the perfect SMG for aggressive players who stay on the move. Best when fired in close range from the hip, it’s also the first SMG in Vanguard to feature the Akimbo Proficiency. Now we’re really talking.
UGM-8: The UGM-8 combines mobility with firepower for Operators to keep pace with their teammates while offering suppressive fire. Use Gunsmith to further lean the weapon toward power or speed and find the balance that works for you.
Purchase the Mercenaries of Fortune Battle Pass to get Task Force Immortal Operator Captain Butcher instantly at Tier 0. Appearing later in the Store are the other two Immortal Operators, Callum Hendry, and Ikenna Olowe.
Earn two more weapons – the Push Dagger and the Vargo-S Assault Rifle – by completing their in-game challenges or by purchasing their corresponding Store Bundles later in the season.
Fortune’s Keep, Caldera POI Updates, and More in Warzone
Fortune’s Keep is a mercenary hideout built atop an otherwise peaceful town with a rich history and it’s a completely original Resurgence map created by High Moon Studios. It’s roughly the same size as Rebirth Island and features four distinct points of interest:
Town: Inspired by colorful Mediterranean villages, this seaside community is littered with cobblestone alleyways and flat rooftops to traverse. An old fortress sits in the town’s center, inviting Operators in for intense combat with its bell tower that commands this section of the map.
Smuggler’s Cove: True to its name, Smuggler’s Cove is loaded with supplies, including Gas Masks that can be helpful in case of a circle collapse. Be prepared to explore the twisting Sea Caves, Grottos with sunlight shining in from above, a small collection of fishing huts, and a lighthouse.
Keep: The island’s namesake, the Keep is a medieval fortress converted into a mercenary headquarters and hideout. Walk on the ramparts and take to the watchtowers to defend the area from invaders, but know that they can also easily fly over the walls using nearby Redeploy Balloons or sneak into the area using the island’s tunnel system.
Winery: A laidback complex inspired by traditional three-lane maps, the Winery provides plenty of scavenging opportunities. Head to the Cellar to stock up on supplies, or travel over to the nearby Camp that contains a helipad and multiple military tents.
Prepare for new challenges, too. Fortune’s Keep adds the Black Market Run Contract, offering the chance to purchase off-market gear like the Sequencer Grenade and the Nebula V Minigun. Track down mercenary groups in Cash Extraction and take their bags of gold before they can offload them from the island.
Storage Town Comes to Caldera: Originally in Verdansk, Storage Town comes to Caldera and is located between the Mines, Airfield, Village, and Dig Site. Search the sprawling complex for Contracts and items and use its newfound verticality to quickly traverse the map. Expect over a dozen other Point of Interest changes across Caldera, partially due to new mercenary camps cropping up. Maybe they’re searching for the rumored Mercenary Vaults?
Armored SUV (In-Season): Hop into the new Armored SUV when you need to travel through enemy-occupied territory. This vehicle features a mounted driver’s weapon, a dedicated rooftop turret seat, the ability to drop proximity mines, and a Nitro Boost for rapid acceleration.
ATMs: Hit up ATMs in Plunder game modes to acquire bags of gold that periodically spawn nearby. Gold will spawn up to a maximum amount.
EMP Grenade: Disable vehicles and disrupt enemy players and AI using the EMP Grenade, a nonlethal tool that creates a short-lived area of effect when it explodes. Affected players are stripped of their HUD information, while vehicles are momentarily powered down.
Multiplayer Brings New Maps, Gun Game
USS Texas 1945 (Launch): A reimagining of the USS Texas map from Call of Duty: WWII, USS Texas 1945 challenges Operators to fight it out on an offshore battleship. The map is designed for tense long-range engagements on starboard and port and offers plenty of close-quarters action amid its many confined interior locations. Set up on a power point and do your worst.
Desolation (In-Season): Deploy to a Pacific listening post in this small-to-medium-sized map set in a dense village littered with destruction. Large mountains and a vast landscape engulf the environment as you battle around the central building and along its creekside fortifications.
The Return of Gun Game: Gun Game makes its Vanguard debut this season as Blueprint Gun Game, a new variant utilizing various Weapon Blueprints. Be the first Operator to progress through all 18 weapons to win the match. Eliminate an enemy to cycle to the next weapon. Melee an enemy to set them back one weapon and get the final Throwing Knife elimination to secure victory. No Perks, Killstreaks, or custom Loadouts allowed.
Mercenaries of Fortune also brings a fresh season of Ranked Play. Climb the ladder as you battle other competitors and earn new seasonal rewards along the way.
Experience Classic Round-Based Zombies in Shi No Numa
Following its original release in Call of Duty: World at War, the Zombies map Shi No Numa returns in the first classic round-based experience for Vanguard. Team up and survive the swamps in this updated version, featuring new quests, a Wonder Weapon, fresh intel, and more. Experience the map through Vanguard’s unique features like the Altar of Covenants and the Tome of Rituals.
Mercenaries of Fortune Arrives June 22
Prepare for all this and more, including the Mercenaries of Fortune event, the Golden Plunder limited-time mode, plus the midseason arrival of two very special action icons, when the new season arrives on June 22 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
I have the entirety of the Kvaris region at my fingertips, and yet I’m still in the Salon trying to decide on the appropriate outfit. Some fur is a must, as the region is chilly, but I don’t want to be bundled up and awkward while trying to use the Floating Board (oh by the way, there’s snowboarding.) I finally settle for an older set of layering wear, Natalis Rochka, and head for the hills. I chose the white variation so that I can close in on enemies without being spotted in order to throw one of the new items that can be found in the environment. Throwing is a new action, introduced with the release of Kvaris, and I’m more than happy to perfect the art of tossing haphazard destruction.
Snowboarding adds a sense of exhilaration to NGS, one I didn’t know was missing until I surfed down my first mountain, taking out enemies as I sliced through fresh powder (I’m not sure how to do snowboarding lingo justice, so we’re going with that.) Between aiming for enemies and minerals, trying to pick up gathering materials, and hitting Dash Rings and Jump Panels, snowboarding is action-packed. Off the Floating Board, keep an eye out for Glowing Yellow Crystals, which you can destroy to get Crystalline Ice Shards and use them to throw at enemies or Cold Photons. Throwing the shards at clusters of enemies causes them to explode on impact, which provides some nice area-of-effect (AOE) damage. Throwing shards at Cold Photons causes a massive explosion to enemies in the vicinity. Either way, you’re in for a blast.
The enemies of Kvaris also make a big impact. One of my favorites is the Pangolan, and while the actual animal is cute and relatively harmless, the NGS version is crafty and agile. Then, there’s the Crocodylis Vera, which charges, dazes, beams, and bombs its attackers. I had the misfortune to fight one on a steep slope, and the environmental challenge added to the Crocodylis’ attacks had me fully engaged.
There’s also a whole new installment of the story, replete with side tasks. Once you’re tough enough you can explore Rayjord Gorge, which is a max level Exploration Sector that requires Low Temperature Damage Resistance gear and buffs just to survive its harsh weather. A new type of formidable enemy, Ancient Enemies, will be added to this area as of June 15 and you’ll need help from other Arks in order to take them down.
Of course, you’ll need to be more powerful to explore Kvaris, so the level cap has been raised to 60, there are new skills for all classes, and you can now find 6-star Rarity weapons. Your experience in Kvaris will also be supported by several campaigns, including a Log-in bonus, Pre-announced Urgent Quests, and Limited-time Tasks. Quality of life features have also been added, such as a Quest Counter, an SG and Meseta Treasure Shop, the ability to preview Voice Tickets, an Auto Sell feature, and more.

We’ve worked closely with our fantastic partners at Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment to create an authentic Jurassic experience. Jurassic World Evolution 2: Dominion Biosyn Expansion is inspired by the highly anticipated summer blockbuster, putting you in the driving seat as you work alongside key characters. Take the campaign for example, which brings together much-loved franchise characters including Claire Dearing (voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard), Dr. Alan Grant (voiced by Sam Neill), and Dr. Ellie Sattler (voiced by Laura Dern) as events unfold.
Having Sam, Laura and Bryce reprise their iconic roles was vital in staying authentic to the franchise. Their experiences within “Jurassic World Dominion” and their past brushes with dinosaurs in “Jurassic Park” and “Jurassic World” add authority in helping to manage dangerous situations that arise, so it’s been really important for us to include these characters in the expansion.
If you need a little refresher on the role of Biosyn Genetics in the Jurassic World franchise, they’re the company responsible for trying to smuggle out dinosaur embryos in the original “Jurassic Park” film. In the campaign you’ll create an impressive new Biosyn Genetics research compound with multiple stages of construction, as well as develop the surrounding facility using a range of new film-inspired buildings, and grow Biosyn to a world leader in dinosaur research.
At Frontier we worked closely with the Universal team to create the expansion’s immersive new Biosyn-focused campaign, taking inspiration from “Jurassic World Dominion.” We felt having you working alongside head of Biosyn research Lewis Dodgson to create the research compound from the movie is a great opportunity for you to be part of the story. It’s set in a beautiful new location called Biosyn Sanctuary. This a large, heavily forested valley surrounded by the dramatic snowy peaks of the Dolomite Mountains. It actually changes throughout the campaign based on the season, which is a great touch by our level designers. They’ve really done an amazing job with this beautiful new biome.
There’s also a gripping new “What if?” scenario inspired by the epic events of “Jurassic World Dominion.” You’ll get to work alongside Owen Grady and the DFW to house vulnerable dinosaurs at his homestead in the Sierra Nevada range. Partake in the ranch life as you seamlessly move large herds of dinosaurs between enclosures with the new dinosaur-wrangling mechanic, erect security measures against rustlers who will periodically attempt to break in and steal dinosaurs, and chase them off when they bypass your perimeter.
Protecting my dinosaurs is my favorite part of the new Chaos Theory level. It’s a fun challenge trying to make sure I’ve got my limited number of watchtowers or camera posts in the most efficient places possible in the level, using all of my rustler defenses in clever ways while also creating a successful and fully-functioning park.
One of my favorite inclusions of this pack are the feathered dinosaurs: Therizinosaurus, Pyroraptor, and Quetzalcoatlus. Feathered dinosaurs might be our fans’ number one request so I’m glad we’ve finally got the opportunity to add them, and I’m so happy with how they look. It’s amazing to bring them to life for the first time in the game, and our feathers look truly impressive as these dinosaurs move around the environment. Watch closely what happens when it snows or rains as feathered dinosaurs will even try and shake themselves dry.
The fourth new prehistoric species arriving with the DLC may not have feathers but it is stunning in its own right. This is Dimetrodon, and like with all other dinosaurs in the game, you can of course customize its colors. In particular I really like the Salar Del Huasco body color with the Papurana pattern. Use this and your Dimetrodon comes out with a wonderful set of complimentary yellows, blues, and greens.
In total, Dominion Biosyn Expansion adds four new species, as well as six new skins and two new variants you can use to alter existing species.
