For Honor Free Weekend Coming Next Weekend Ahead of Season 4 Launch

Two dangerous new heroes are coming to shake up the battlefields of For Honor when Season Four, Order & Havoc, launches on November 14. The nimble Aramusha will join the Samurai faction, and the ferocious Shaman joins the Vikings, and each hero brings new fighting styles and new strategies into play. But that’s not all that’s coming in the new season: two new maps and two new modes will be free to all players, offering new proving grounds where warriors can test their might. And to get you ready to take on these challenges, For Honor will host a free weekend beginning at 9 a.m. PT on November 9, and continuing until 11:59 p.m. PT on November 12 for all players with an Xbox Live Gold membership.

Let’s start with the heroes. The Aramusha is a hybrid hero, wielding two katanas to strike swiftly and deflect their opponents’ blows. Donning an iconic low-brimmed hat, the Aramusha is quick to punish any opponents who misstep. The Shaman wields two blades, a hatchet and a dagger, and uses them with deadly precision. She’s an assassin hero, and her speed is complemented by an aggressive moveset that sees her pouncing on enemies like a wild beast and gaining strength when her opponents are actively bleeding. Both heroes will be released for Season Pass holders on November 14, and will be available for all other players to unlock on November 21 for 15,000 Steel each.

Two free new modes are also coming with Order & Havoc. Tribute is a 4v4 objective-based mode, in which players fight to claim three offerings and return them to their team’s shrines. Each of your three shrines will activate a different buff for your team, and choosing which shrine to place your offering in can tip the scales for your team. Will you juice your team’s attack power? Bestow a regenerating shield on your allies? Or reveal the enemy players’ positions for your whole team to see? You’ll need to defend your shrines, hunt down offerings in the field, and steal from the enemy team’s shrines if you hope to claim victory in Tribute.

For Honor will also continue to expand its ranked competition with the addition of Ranked Dominion mode, which will be available following the launch of Season 4. Now you and your team of heroes can rise through the ranks and earn glory for all to see (as well as some sweet in-game loot to boot). The new heroes, Tribute mode, and two new maps (Market Town and The Gauntlet) all arrive with the launch of Order & Havoc on November 14.

To get you warmed up for the new season of For Honor, you can play for free from November 9 to November 12. This free weekend includes access to all the content released for the game thus far, which means every multiplayer mode (playable versus human players or bots), the full campaign (playable solo or with a co-op ally), and the chance to build up any of the game’s 16 heroes, including the new heroes released in previous seasons (who are unlockable for 15,000 Steel each). Haven’t chain-hooked an opponent as the Shinobi or brandished the brutal claymore of the Highlander? You’ll be able to do so from November 9-12, providing you have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.

And if you want to stay in the fight for the launch of Season Four, Ubisoft will be offering discounts of up to 60% off digital For Honor content through the Microsoft Store. To get a taste of the new Heroes and new modes in action, tune in to the Season 4 Livestream Reveal on twitch.tv/forhonorgame on November 11.

Now’s the best time to sharpen your swords and wade into the fray. See you on the battlefield!

Call of Duty: WWII Available Now on Xbox One

Call of Duty takes us back to where the series roots originally took shape in historic warfare with Call of Duty: WWII, taking place during the heart of World War II with an epic campaign, new multiplayer modes, and challenging co-op features that look to have us playing this thrilling game well into the new year.

One of the most exciting things we’re looking forward to in Call of Duty: WWII is the new multiplayer mode, War Mode, that gives a cinematic feel to its online battles, echoing the epic firefights we’d see in films like “A Bridge Too Far” or “Saving Private Ryan,” all wrapped into the frantic competitive multiplayer experience of playing online against other players. With objectives like escorting a tank through the narrow alleyways of a French village, to building a bridge while under heavy fire, War Mode looks to lend to a new level of strategy in Call of Duty multiplayer.

In addition to multiplayer modes, it can’t be a Call of Duty game without an epic single-player, story-driven campaign. From landing on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, to battling across the rest of Europe, we’re looking forward to experiencing the bonds of comradery against the backdrop of the unforgiving nature of war.

Call of Duty: WWII is available on Xbox One in a variety of editions starting today. There’s the standard edition available for $59.99 USD and the Call of Duty: WWII – Digital Deluxe Edition for $99.99 USD that includes the Season Pass, providing additional content updates to the game throughout 2018.

For all the latest news on Call of Duty: WWII on Xbox One, in addition all of the upcoming Xbox releases this holiday season, be sure to keep it tuned to Xbox Wire.

Disneyland Adventures Q&A

Disneyland Adventures is available now for the Xbox One family of devices and Windows 10 PC on Microsoft Store.

We recently had the opportunity to have an in-depth chat with Jorg Neumann, Head of Production, Global Publishing, Microsoft Studios to talk in greater detail about the re-imagining of this game.

What is Disneyland Adventures and what makes it different from the 2011 Xbox 360 title?

Disneyland Adventures is a remastered and re-imagined version of the 2011 Xbox 360 title that allows children, families, and Disney fans of all ages to explore Disneyland Park. In anticipation for the Xbox One X launch, we really wanted to make this franchise shine and bring the magical world of Disneyland Park to life like never before, so we gave it an upgrade to true 4K Ultra HD visuals and HDR support, and made it available to play on both console and Windows 10 PC.

Now anyone can enjoy the game on controller, mouse and keyboard, and Kinect. And additionally, through the power of Xbox Play Anywhere you can pick up where you left off on another Xbox One device or Windows 10 PC, bringing all your saves, game add-ons and achievements with you.

Tell us about how you collaborated with Disney on Disneyland Adventures.

There had never been a game specifically about Disneyland Park when this was developed, but the team had a strong plan that we felt confident in and pitched Disney on how we could achieve this. They really loved the idea and we’ve had a strong collaboration with them ever since.

Even though they loved the pitch, Disney challenged me on how much I actually knew about Disneyland Park. I responded with, “Yeah of course I love Disney, I have two daughters and we’ve watched all the movies together and I’ve been to Disneyland Park several times.” But they asked again, “how much time have you spent in the park?” I was certainly no expert and told them such, so they invited me and the whole team to the park and gave us full access to the park.

The team and I spent about five months exploring and examining the park, took about 50,000 photographs, went to all the special places like Walt’s Apartment and Club 33, and collaborated with the legendary Disney Imagineers.

Does the game have the entire park in it or just parts of it?

It’s the entire Disneyland Park. We really wanted to pay homage to the magic that is Disneyland, so we made sure Disneyland Adventures is a digital version of the entire park. The hard work the team did in collaboration with Disney resulted in a very accurate depiction of the park in digital form – so much so that Disney sometimes uses the game as a training tool to help them really know the ins and outs of the park. If you know where to find your favorite attraction or coffee shop in the park, you’ll find it in the exact same place in the game.

How would you describe the gameplay of Disneyland Adventures?

Disneyland Adventures allows children, families and Disney fans of all ages to step into Disneyland park to explore the worlds of their favorite attractions, engage in challenging adventures and interact with many beloved Disney characters.

Think about it essentially as an open-world game filled with Disney content – we have 43 Disney character encounters where you can give characters such as Donald or Snow White a hug, get their autograph and photograph, and receive a quest. We have over 100 quests that allow you to go around the park and solve problems in return for magical items. For example, Red Beard may ask you to photograph all the items on his list.

Other things we have that are a nod to the fun and magic of Disneyland park are the hidden Mickeys – which are an obsession for many people. We include many of the hidden Mickeys that are in the real park, plus a few newer ones as well.

And finally, we have the attractions in Disneyland Adventures. In the world of Disney, attractions are not just rides that you sit in and that’s it. When we were working with the Disney Imagineers on this game, the one thing that was clear is that every ride is a story and an adventure where there are Yetis, pirates, ghosts or runaway trains. So, for this game we actually take you to the world of the attraction with a unique adventure and story to tell – for example, you’re not just sitting in a vehicle flying through London in the world of Peter Pan, YOU, yourself, actually fly through London collecting coins as you make your way to Neverland, where you ultimately battle Captain Hook and his crew.

Disneyland Adventures features 18 iconic, interactive Disneyland Park attractions – you can fly through Neverland at Peter Pan’s side and take up your sword to fight Captain Hook, battle your way to the island in Pirates of the Caribbean, partner with a friend to enjoy the fascinating world of Alice in Wonderland and many more of the wonderful worlds of Disney. What I love best about this is that it’s a co-op game, so parents can play together with their kids.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention?

I love that we can bring the magic of Disneyland to the living rooms of families everywhere in a fun, innovative way and I’m excited to give this to gaming and Disney fans of all ages. You can purchase the game now for $29.99 USD and pick it up at any major retailer, on Xbox.com, in the Xbox Store or Microsoft Store.

The Rock Surprises Make-A-Wish Kids with Custom Xbox One X Consoles

16 years ago, Dwayne Johnson was on-stage with Bill Gates to help announce the original Xbox. We’re excited to be working with Dwayne again to show there is no power greater than X.

Yesterday, three Make-A-Wish children received the gift of a lifetime when The Rock surprised the group with a private gaming event on the set of his current movie project, “Skyscraper.” With the help of Xbox, the kids were the first to receive the world’s most powerful console, a custom Xbox One X, a full week before its November 7 global release. The custom consoles feature Dwayne’s logo, a brahma bull, and a personal holiday message.

Throughout the day, Dwayne gave children the VIP treatment which included personalized director chairs, a private tour of the set, exotic car rides and challenging them in video game matchups on popular Xbox titles such as Super Lucky’s Tale, Forza Motorsport 7, Killer Instinct as well as other games featured in Xbox Game Pass.

Thanks again to Dwayne, Make-A-Wish and the crew on the “Skyscraper” set for allowing us to join in on all the fun!

PUBG Coming to Xbox One on December 12, 2017

Xbox fans, we know you’ve been waiting and we’re so excited to finally be able to say it – PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to Xbox One as a console launch exclusive through the Xbox Game Preview program on December 12, 2017!

We shared this news at Paris Games Week today, where Brendan Greene – aka PlayerUnknown – and I opened the Xbox booth with Aaron Greenberg, General Manager of Xbox Games Marketing.

Beginning December 12, Xbox fans will be able to play PUBG while it’s still in early access through the Xbox Game Preview program. We’re approaching development on Xbox One with the same community-driven focus that we’ve taken with the game on PC. As a result, the ultimate battle royale experience that fans play on Xbox One will be slightly different than what players know today on PC.

In addition to announcing Xbox’s XGP launch date on December 12, we also shared the exciting news that we’re on track to launch 1.0 for the PC version in late December.  This has been an amazing year for us and launching both 1.0 on PC and on Xbox through Xbox Game Preview are huge milestones for the team. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time, but I’m even more excited to say that we’re just getting started.

Both versions are being developed at the same time, but they both have their own separate roadmaps. Various Xbox One features and functionality will change and come online over time just like they have on PC, with our goal being to have both versions align to each other as soon as possible. Feedback as you know has been critical to the game’s success, so beginning December 12 we want to hear from Xbox fans on what they think about PUBG and how we can make the best version of the game possible.

PUBG Xbox XGP The Warrior Pack

In celebration of PUBG’s upcoming launch on Xbox One, we’ve collaborated closely with the team at Xbox to create three special, limited-edition cosmetic packs – the PUBG Warrior Pack, the PUBG Accessory Pack and the PUBG Tracksuit Pack. These packs are exclusive to Xbox fans as standalone offers available for a limited time and as there are no plans to feature any in-game purchases in the Xbox Game Preview version, are the only items that can be purchased during the preview period. We’re super excited to be able to bring these to Xbox One fans who have been eagerly awaiting the game as a special thank you for your patience and passion for PUBG. We’ll be sharing more details on timing and pricing in the weeks ahead.

If you are attending Paris Games Week, be sure to come by the Xbox booth and check out “The Wall.” We’ve set up a massive 50-person gameplay experience where players can come battle it out in a series of live matches that will be nothing short of epic. Having everybody in a match together all in one room is really special and is going to be a lot of fun.

Thank you to the entire PUBG community for providing feedback and making our game such a success already. We’re working hard with our partners at Microsoft to bring PUBG as a console launch exclusive on Xbox One through the Xbox Game Preview program, and we can’t wait to meet you on the island on December 12!

Inside Xbox One X Enhanced: Titanfall 2

Many of gaming’s most compelling stories come from those who’ve helped to create our favorite Xbox One games. In our Inside Xbox One X Enhanced series, these creators will share the behind-the-scenes accounts of the work involved in enhancing these epic games for Xbox One X, how they’ve helped chart the course of the world’s most powerful console, and what that means for the future of gaming. Today, we’ll be chatting with Respawn Entertainment’s Drew McCoy, Lead Producer on the action-packed shooter Titanfall 2.

What specifically is your development team doing to enhance Titanfall 2 for Xbox One X?

We have increased the rendering details and dynamic resolution cap of Titanfall 2 on X1X. This means the game will always output a 4K signal, but dynamically alter the resolution based on GPU load to ensure smooth framerates. Additionally, we have brought over from the PC version of Titanfall 2 Dynamic Superscaling for times when even full 2160p doesn’t push the X1X GPU to 100% utilization. Players will benefit from these enhancements whether they are enjoying our single player campaign or playing online. The characters you’ll meet and environments you’ll battle through will be rich with new detail and the epic mayhem of a multiplayer match will run smoothly even with dozens of grunts, Pilots, and Titans going at it in a match of Attrition.

How do these enhancements impact the gaming experience?

Titanfall 2 on X1X is a substantially clearer/sharper image presentation. Players will notice lots of little details in the world and it maintains the fluid 60 fps framerate needed for smooth gameplay more often so you won’t see any frame rate drops even with a bunch of 20 foot Titans battling it out at once.

Why did your development team choose to focus on these enhancement areas?

Gameplay is the focus of any Titanfall game, so hitting our target framerate while maintaining the clearest image possible were the goals. Our games always need to FEEL great so with all enhancements we make sure that Titanfall feel that is unique to us stays true.

How do you expect fans of Titanfall 2 will respond to seeing/playing it on Xbox One X with these enhancements?

We think they’ll love them! Whether they are enjoying the enhanced visuals while traversing the epic single player campaign or in the middle of a chaotic battle in Attrition, they will notice new details that make it feel like they are seeing it with new eyes. And there isn’t any other game that can replicate the smooth and frenetic gameplay of Titanfall 2, and so now playing with more stable framerates at 4K turns it into a sublime experience.

How has the process been to get the game up and running on Xbox One X?

Extremely easy! Being a part of the Xbox One family means it was a matter of hours/days to get a build up and running, as opposed to months/years for an entirely new platform.

What enhancement are you most excited about leveraging for Titanfall 2 on Xbox One X?

We’re pretty excited to be taking advantage of Dynamic Superscaling, which ensures 100% GPU utilization at all times. It is a pretty ingenious feature to allow a game that is so dynamic like Titanfall 2 to always look its best. Players can be sure that no matter what they are doing in the game, the Xbox One X is running on all cylinders to make Titanfall 2 run and look amazing.

What does 4K and HDR mean for your game, games in the future, and development at your studio?

Thinking about 4K/HDR really changes how you approach content creation, but it takes time to really get the most out of everything. We want players to be immersed in the worlds we create and this new layer of fidelity will allows developers to craft spaces that players will get lost in.  I think this first batch of titles is only scratching the surface of what will be possible in the future and I can’t wait to see what everyone does!

Thanks to Drew for taking the time to chat with us about Xbox One X Enhanced. We’ll be bringing you more interviews with more developers in the future, so stay tuned to Xbox Wire!

Journey to Ancient Egypt in Assassin’s Creed Origins, Available Now on Xbox One

The mysteries of Cleopatra’s Egypt are yours to uncover in Assassin’s Creed Origins, out now on Xbox One and will be Xbox One X Enhanced for Xbox One X on November 7. As Bayek, a protector of Egypt, you are thrust into a tumultuous time in Ancient Egypt’s history. The struggle for power between Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy is reaching its breaking point, the menacing Order of the Ancients lurks in the shadows, and a Roman army waits outside the country’s borders. Bayek will confront these forces while exploring the game’s massive recreation of Ancient Egypt, driven by his own quest for vengeance.

Assassin's Creed Origins Screenshot

Assassin’s Creed Origins harnesses the characteristics of Action RPGs more than any game in the series before it. You can customize your own version of Bayek to suit your playstyle with an assortment of normal, rare, and legendary weapons, each with different characteristics and spanning a variety of bows, spears, swords, axes, shields, and more. All of this plays into a new combat system that allows for more freedom and strategy, but also makes the fierce foes you encounter more savvy and dangerous.

A skill tree with three branches – Hunter, Seer, and Warrior – opens other possibilities. Want to throw firebombs, tame wild animals, or use poisons? The Seer path might be the best option. If you’d rather expand Bayek’s roster of melee attacks, letting him charge up shield-breaking strikes or develop devastatingly fast combos, the Warrior path may be where you want to spend your ability points. And if you want to-control arrows in flight or make your eagle companion distract foes, build Bayek’s abilities out along the Hunter path.

Assassin's Creed Origins Screenshot

As you increase your level and gain ability points, you’ll be able to unlock more powerful weapons and skills, and Assassin’s Creed Origins offers no shortage of story quests, side missions, and spontaneous conflicts to build Bayek into a fearsome warrior. Assassin’s Creed Origins will take you across the country to the pyramids of Giza, the massive temple at Memphis, into the rough waters of the Mediterranean, and through vast deserts and lush oases – and what’s more, nearly all its quests and side missions can be completed whenever and however you want, so long as you’re strong enough to take them on.

An ancient world of mystery, brutality, and adventure awaits you, and you can dive in today by downloading Assassin’s Creed Origins today from the Xbox Store.
