How Warframe’s Whip Wielding Warrior Khora Came to Be
Something I learned a while back is that ideas need room to grow and change. The development of Khora, the 35th Warframe, complete with her own Abilities, weapons, and play style, is a testament to this idea ever since I first envisioned her. The deep secret behind Khora’s original inspiration was my mascot, “Stir-Fried,” a character I used as a vehicle to explore new styles or learn new techniques. Her weapon of choice was a metal spoon that she could change the shape and size of to handle whatever challenge stood in her way. Fusing everything from Iron Maiden torture devices, spiders, burlesque dancers to Vogue models, and a sprinkle of Stir-Fried’s Abilities, Khora was forged… Read more

Minecraft’s Bedrock Update Coming to Nintendo Switch Digitally and in Retail on June 21

The launch of Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition last year was a big moment for us, and now it’s time to take the next step in the evolution of this beloved franchise. We’re happy to announce that the Bedrock version of Minecraft will launch June 21 for the Nintendo Switch system, both digitally on Nintendo eShop and as a physical release at retail. As with our recent Better Together update for Xbox One, players who already own Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition will be able to digitally upgrade to Minecraft for free.

Minecraft will be the first game on Nintendo Switch to feature cross-play support across Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Windows 10 PCs, Android devices, iOS phones and tablets, and VR platforms will all be able to play together for the first time ever. Whether they’re working together to build the home of their dreams or standing shoulder-to-shoulder as they enter the End to take down the Enderdragon, there will always be something for friends to do together, regardless of platform.

“Bringing the definitive version of Minecraft to Nintendo Switch is a huge step forward in our journey to unite Minecraft players across any device,” said Phil Spencer, head of gaming for Microsoft.  “We’ve worked closely with Nintendo to bring an amazing experience to the Nintendo Switch system’s dynamic and rapidly-growing ecosystem and couldn’t be more excited to deliver what Minecraft players have been asking for.”

As is the case with Minecraft on any Bedrock platform, Minecraft on Nintendo Switch will now also support achievements and Gamerscore, reflecting players’ activities and experiences within the game and allowing them to compare stats with friends.

Minecraft also lets players on the Nintendo Switch system access the Minecraft Marketplace for the first time, allowing them to explore a constantly-growing community marketplace. They can purchase unique maps, skins, and texture packs from favorite creators within the massive Minecraft community. Players will be able to make purchases safely and securely with MINECOINs, and all purchases can be enjoyed across every platform on which the Minecraft Marketplace is available.

“This new version of Minecraft offers players even more options to play anytime and anywhere on Nintendo Switch,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “With previously released content like the Super Mario Mash-Up included, players everywhere can experience what it’s like when Minecraft meets the Mushroom Kingdom!”

Today Conan Exiles finally shed its Game Preview wings and launched in full on Xbox One. The open world survival game set in the universe of “Conan the Barbarian” is finally ready for the masses.

Conan Exiles Xbox Game Preview started on the August 16, 2017 and with today’s launch, the game has been massively expanded with lots of new content and features.

Conan Exiles Screenshot

We have listened closely to the community during the Xbox Game Preview process and kept on improving and expanding the game before launch.

In Conan Exiles you must survive in a vast and seamless world, build a home and kingdom, dominate your enemies in single and multiplayer. Do battle against savage monsters and tribes of humans, the harsh climate, sandstorms which can rip the flesh from your body and enemy players to survive in the Exiled Lands.

Conan Exiles Screenshot

Choose between hundreds of building pieces and build a strong base to defend yourself. Capture human NPCs and break their will on the wheel of pain so they can become your thralls. Strengthen your base with thrall archers and fighters to defend against the purge, where the creatures of the Exiled Lands rise to drive you from their home.

We have completely revamped the combat system during Xbox Game Preview. Combat is now combo-based, brutal, and very tactical. Many new weapon types have been introduced and each weapon has gotten its own set of unique attacks and animations.

Conan Exiles Screenshot

Conan Exiles offers a vast open world, filled with unique locations, ancient ruins, deep caves and challenging dungeons. Explore the world, from the deserts of the south to the swamps of the east and the highlands in the frozen north.

You can play the game in either single or multiplayer. Play on official servers or rent a private server where you can set the rules yourself and play with the friends you invite.

Conan Exiles Screenshot

We are proud to have gone through the Xbox Game Preview period with the great Conan Exiles community and we hope everyone will love all the new content which has come in for launch.

New Preview Beta 1805 System Update – 5/4/18

Starting at 6:00 p.m. PDT today, members of the Xbox One Preview BETA Ring will begin receiving the latest Xbox One system update (1805.180430-1920). Read on for more about the New Features, fixes and known issues in the latest system update.

New Features:

The following new features are active in this build:

120Hz – Support for More Video Output Options

In this build Gamers with monitors and televisions that support a 120Hz refresh rate can now turn on 120Hz support for 1080p and 1440p output resolutions on Xbox One S and Xbox One X. This high refresh rate option means you can now take full advantage of displays with 120Hz capabilities. High refresh rate support can provide a smoother gaming experience and lower latency on some displays, and games may benefit from reduced tearing and stuttering via 120Hz output.

Connect with Gamers Across Xbox Live and Discord

You can now easily link your Xbox Live account to your Discord account from a Discord app (PC, mobile) and from the “linked social accounts” Setting menu on Xbox One. When you link Discord to your Xbox Live account, your Xbox Live presence will be shared across Discord, enabling friends and users in your same Discord servers to see what you are playing on Xbox Live. Keep in mind that your Presence will be shared with anyone on Discord, independently of your Privacy Settings on Xbox.

Please note for this feature to work you to do the following on an Android or iOS device.  Currently the Beta version of the Discord app on Android and iOS supports the account linking (the PC app in coming soon from the Discord team):

What you need to do on the console:

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Linked social accounts
  2. Select “Link” under Discord
  3. Follow the instruction in your screen to start the account linking process:
  4. Say ‘yes’ to the MSA consent dialog, allowing Xbox to share your information with Discord
  5. A 6 digit PIN code will show up in your console
  6. Go to your Discord app and insert the 6 digit code that shows up in your screen
  7. Accounts should now be linked and your Xbox presence will start being displayed in Discord
  8. If you say ‘no’ to the consent you’ll go back to settings, account won’t be linked

Improvements to the Xbox Accessories App

In this build we’re also modernizing the Xbox Accessories app to make it easier to navigate, and to look and feel more consistent with the rest of the Xbox One dashboard.

More Privacy Options

You will notice a change to the Login flow on the console that only occurs once when you first login. In the privacy settings menu, you can now also specify whether to send crash dump data for games and apps to Microsoft. We’ll also let you know about scenarios where we need to share your data with game developers, publishers, and other third parties so that you can play online. Finally, we’re giving you a way to close your Microsoft account, which will also remove you from others’ friends lists. Please note that these screens are not fully localized and you can move past them.  We will present them to all users again as we flight to ensure they are localized and users are fully aware of the content.

Trim Clips Directly in the Guide

Last month, we added a new sharing feature that helps gamers upload their captured screenshots and videos directly to Twitter. In this build, we’re improving on the sharing experience even further; you can now trim your recent game captures directly from the Guide, so you won’t need to switch to Upload Studio to make a quick cut to your saved clips.

 Fixes:

  • We have fixed launch and activation issues in certain apps such as Hulu, Spotify and Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft Edge

  • Stability and performance fixes for Microsoft Edge, specifically when multiple tabs or video are open.

New Preview Alpha 1805 System Update – 5/3/18

Starting at 2:00 p.m. PDT today, members of the Xbox One Preview Alpha Ring will begin receiving the latest Xbox One system update (1805.180430-1920).

Fixes:

Apps

  • We have fixed launch and activation issues in certain apps such as Hulu, Spotify and Microsoft Edge.

Games

  • We have fixed launch and activation issues in games when the user was playing a title and signed out to show the correct message when launching the title again that they must be signed in.

Guide

  • We have fixed an issue where the button prompt to move Pins in Guide was incorrect.

Microsoft Edge

  • Fixed issues with Microsoft Edge failing to load multiple tabs and the problem when the cursor would disappear when using the browser.

Navigation and Selection in Menu’s

  • Users can now select an action in menus.  This means we have fixed issues to allow users to now:
    • Move/copy content in Network transfer or locally from the internal HDD to an external HDD
    • Set a default disk to install content if they have more than one drive attached
      • Therefore you are now able to set external HDD as default install location if your internal HDD is set

Networking

  • Work has been done to improve the Wi-Fi connectivity when resuming the console from the Instant on mode and a network was not detected until a reboot.
  • Users should no longer be seeing a “Local cache is full” message when powering on their console.

Profile

  • We have fixed the issue in which some users noticed the Gamerscore icon is missing in their profile when using the Light Theme or Theme schedule.

Known Issues:

Audio

  • Some users may experience intermittent loss of Audio with certain configurations of AV receivers with ATMOS or with changing audio configurations during console use.
  • Some users may experience loss of Audio playing Final Fantasy XV Workaround to allow audio : Change audio settings to Stereo uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed or Dolby Atmos for Home Theater and play the game

Pi-hole

  • Pi-hole users may encounter issues signing in, creating, or recovering accounts upon downloading the 1804 update. This is due to a new configuration file which is downloaded from a URL Pi-hole blocks by default.
  • Workaround: Add clientconfig.passport.net to the Pi-hole allowed IP address list.

Profile Color

  • Sometimes users may encounter an incorrect Profile color when powering on the console.

Networking

  • Work continue on the stability of the Wi-Fi connectivity.  If you see any issues please report the problems for investigation.

YouTube

  • Some users are encountering an issue where their YouTube account is being signed out whenever they launch the app.
    • Workaround: Uninstall/re-install the app and sign in with your account again.

You Asked, We Listened: More Xbox Insider Hub Content in More Languages

Hello, Xbox Insiders! Team Xbox is dedicated to bringing quality experiences to each and every member of the Xbox community, both on Xbox Live and elsewhere. With that in mind, we’ve recently started offering more content translated for a broader range of languages in the Xbox Insider Hub. This effort is a direct response to feedback received from many of you in non-English-speaking regions who were looking to provide more feedback on new features, games and more as an Xbox Insider.

If you’re a member of the Xbox Insider Program and have been using your Xbox One in a language other than English recently, then you’ve likely noticed some of the changes we’re talking about. Nearly all the Feature Quests offered in the past month were translated into all Xbox One console languages, and the plan is to keep that momentum going. Not only are we translating Quests and Surveys for specific features, but we’re also launching a suite of translated Quick polls so you can grab up some XP quickly and help us to make the translated content the way you want it.

This success isn’t ours alone, however; it also belongs to you! Not only did you ask for more translated content, but you also rose to the occasion when we began meeting that request. We’ve seen loads of Quest and Survey participation from you all, including a great turnout for our language quality-specific content, which helps us assess and improve the quality of translations offered across the Xbox One dashboard, Guide, Apps and of course Games!

Whether you’re a long-time Xbox Insider or brand new to the program, we look forward to hearing more from you and truly value your feedback. If you haven’t had the chance (or didn’t know that we’ve begun translating much of our content), please take some time to check out the Xbox Insider Hub and complete whatever Quests, Surveys and Quick polls appeal to you.
