Tips and Tricks for Breaking into the Challenging World of 20XX

Hi there! 20XX, out today, is an action-platformer roguelite that plays like the 2D sidescrolling platformers of yesteryear, but with random level generation so it’s always fresh, and co-op so you can play it with a friend! If you’re reading this, you’ve either jumped into 20XX and gotten whomped a few times, or you’re really excited to. 20XX is a very knowledge-based game; the more you know about the game’s ecosystem, the better prepared you’ll be for every Job you undertake. While 20XX is a challenging game, its wide range of difficulty options make it accessible to any gamer looking for an action platforming challenge. Here are a few nuggets to help you get going.

20XX Screenshot

Use Boss Powers

When you defeat a boss, you’ll have the option to take his power, some nuts (currency), or a stat-boosting Augs. It’s tempting to take the known quantity – money’s always good, and a damage or health boost can be really handy – but until you know enough about each power to know which ones you don’t want, try them out! Powers make every contractor’s life easier – each either deals excellent damage, helps keep you safe, or both. In addition, powers each have two special properties.

1) Each boss has one power they’re weak to (learning this cycle will make your life a lot easier)
2) Each power has a bonus utility effect. For example: the Boomerang Blade (from the Rollster boss) can pick up items for you, and the Force Nova (from Vile Visage) can destroy Skytemple’s laser pairs! Learning to effectively use 20XX‘s powers is a big piece of getting good at the game

20XX Screenshot

Manage your Nuts

As you find nuts from slain enemies and destroyed crates, it can be tempting to spend them at every opportunity. The allure of spending three nuts per health to top off at a Green Machine is strong, but sometimes it’s better to resist unless you really need it. Spent wisely, your nuts can buy you powerful Augs to complement the way your character develops over the course of a run; spent poorly, your nuts can buy you items you don’t need and make you very sad. Knowing what Augs could be coming in a nearby shop — and knowing when to save for them — will dramatically improve your play.

20XX Screenshot

Beware of Prototypes

Every so often, the game will offer you the chance to enter a Very Safe Lab. These labs are not very safe, or even a little bit safe, as their spooky music might indicate. The prototype Augs offered in these areas offer great power at a great cost; each has specific situations where it’s very useful, but careless acquisition of prototypes is sure to doom your run. Nothing’s worse than picking up Focusing Sagelens (massive boost to power damage, but basic attacks are almost useless) when you either have no boss power or no energy to use them with, but with the right setup, the Sagelens is a potent damage boost. Think before you pick them up!

20XX Screenshot

Pay Attention to Stage Order

20XX‘s levels are randomly generated, but in most cases, you’ll still have some control over which stage and theme comes next. Each stage theme evolves over the course of a playthrough, and it’s important to make sure you have the tools you need to tackle the later stages of the game. If Skytemple gives you trouble, taking Force Nova (to disable its laser pairs) or picking Skytemple early will make your runs much easier.

Good luck learning the intricacies of 20XX. We hope these tips help ease you in.

The Road to Battlefield V Starts with Free Expansions and In-game Rewards

At DICE, it’s currently all hands-on deck for the launch of Battlefield V on October 19. However, we’re not forgetting our Battlefield veterans and have planned ongoing giveaways as well as plenty of award opportunities this summer for our current players.

We’ve called all the above the Road to Battlefield V. The road’s foundation is built on opportunities to grab expansions from both Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4. Battlefield 1 players can also earn gear for later use in Battlefield V, such as exclusive paratrooper gear and weapon skins.

More than 20 maps worth of free content

The anticipation for Battlefield V is real. In the meantime, why not grab each expansion from both Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 for free? You’ll have to watch our calendar to ensure you’re ready to pick them up them when they arrive.

Some players have already claimed Battlefield 1 In the Name of the Tsar with its six massive maps and ability to join the ranks of the largest mobilized army to enter World War I. Others have jumped at the opportunity fight in a British amphibious assault using a powerful torpedo boat and airship in Battlefield 1 Turning Tides. And before the end of July, two of the most infamous battles of WWI will be free with the giveaway of Battlefield 1 Apocalypse.

If you missed the previous expansion giveaways, don’t bang your head against a tank – you may still get the chance to claim them again in the future.

Weekly rewards and the best place to earn them

There are also more opportunities to make the battlefield your own with weekly in-game rewards just for playing Battlefield 1. When logging into Battlefield 1, a new menu lists daily tasks that go toward earning various rewards, like weapon and equipment skins, dog tags, and squad XP boosts. The available rewards unlock weekly and can be earned during that window. Missed a week? Don’t worry, you can still catch up by playing!

We’ve even added tailor-made map playlists on that rotate every Tuesday. Consider these a tour through the variety of Battlefield 1 maps and modes as well as a great place to complete those daily and weekly challenges.

Get Battlefield V gear now

Those Battlefield 1 in-game rewards also include periodic, exclusive vanity items for Battlefield V, available for use in that game at launch. Battlefield V will let players customize their own company of soldiers with special soldier sets containing weapon skins, camo patterns, head gear, and face paint for the British Special Air Service (SAS) and German Airborne troops. There are eight available before launch. You can grab six of these when you pre-order the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition, but the only way to earn the additional two soldier sets is via the Road to Battlefield V.

Join the fight in Battlefield V on Xbox One starting October 11 with the EA Access Play First Trial, October 16 for Battlefield V Deluxe Edition early enlister access, and October 19 for the Battlefield V Standard Edition.

Join the Hunt for the Savage New Warframe in The Sacrifice on Xbox One

We didn’t think it was possible. Building, testing, and launching The Sacrifice on Xbox One in three weeks? All while in an intense crunch mode for TennoCon, our third-ever Warframe convention in two days? We must believe in miracles, ‘cause the incredible Warframe console team made our dream a reality, and The Sacrifice is now live on Xbox One!

The third in Warframe’s Cinematic Quest storyline, The Sacrifice follows the Apostasy Prologue (revealed last December), with a foreboding vision that will take you on the hunt for this seemingly savage new Warframe. When progress on Umbra was finally revealed at TennoCon 2017, players were crying with overwhelming joy (okay maybe not physically crying; I like to imagine), but they were ecstatic! The three-year wait for the Umbra Warframe was finally happening, and it was worth the wait. The Sacrifice answers questions left unanswered in The Apostasy Prologue, but also leaves players with entirely new questions.

Warframe: The Sacrifice Screenshot

You should know that The Sacrifice is for all Warframe players, but it is available deeper into the game than, say, Plains of Eidolon. Only Tenno who have been through the roller coaster of The Second Dream, The War Within, Chains of Harrow, and the Apostasy Prologue will be able to learn the plight of The Lotus, Ballas, and more.

What else can we tell you without spoiling the goods? The Sacrifice update includes several quality of life additions. Exalted weapons such as Excalibur’s Exalted Blade and Valkyr’s Talons are now moddable in the Arsenal; you can show off your fashion frames in a new Captura scene based on The Sacrifice or emblazon your profiles with a new Umbra Profile Glyph, and if you like free things, you can use this promo code, OLDFRIEND, for a free Orokin tea set decoration and a 3-day Affinity Booster until July 20, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. ET at warframe.com/promocode. Also, we’ve taken the first step in revamping Warframe’s UI by adding a few customizable UI themes, updated vendor menus (like Baro, Syndicates, etc.), new UI sounds across all menus, and more.

Warframe: The Sacrifice Screenshot

We said from the beginning with Umbra that we wanted to give players a lore-driven narrative behind him, and not just an Excalibur skin. Finally, we’re able to share that story and I’m overjoyed that we’re able to make it happen before TennoCon 2018! We eagerly await your reactions, questions, and excitement, and I personally can’t wait to word-vomit lore theories with you on Xbox One @ 1!
