In this guide, we go over each of the games with a brief synopsis, their initial release date, and their place in the cannon. We’ve also included a quick guide to all the Danganronpa games in order, so you can dive into despair without missing a beat.

Danganronpa games

Mainline Danganronpa games

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

Initially seeing a PSP release in Japan in 2010, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is the first title in the Danganronpa series. Garnering an iconic status, it has since arrived on multiple platforms in all regions.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a visual novel based around Class 78th of the prestigious Hope’s Peak Academy. Originally lauded as a home to Japan’s best and brightest high school students, Hope’s Peak Academy is plunged into despair as student Makoto Naegi and his classmates find themselves locked in the school, playing a sick game at the whim of a sadistic bear called Monokuma. Pitting the students against each other, Monokuma promises freedom to anyone who can kill one of their peers and get away with it.

You take the role of Makoto Naegi as you attempt to survive the vicious killing game and uncover the secrets behind Monokuma’s true identity and motives. Explore the academy and progress through the story, as you get to know your classmates’ histories, desires, and aspirations, all while you investigate murders, and pin down culprits.

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

Following on from the first title’s popularity, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair is a direct sequel to Trigger Happy Havoc. It first came out on the PSP in Japan in 2012, and takes place shortly after the events of Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls.

You step into the shoes of Hajime Hinata, who has just enrolled into Hope’s Peak Academy. Upon entering the building he’s overcome with fatigue, then wakes up to find himself in front of a classroom full of his peers. Locked inside, the students are met by Usami, a pink, magical girl bunny, who reveals that they are in fact on a paradisal island, and they must befriend each other to gain Hope Fragments and nurture their hope.

However, just as they’re adapting to the peaceful island life, disaster strikes. Monokuma is back, and the students must participate in the next generation of the killing game if they wish to survive.

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair follows a very similar gameplay loop to the first, with the main differences being that you can walk around the island as Hajime in 2D, and the class trial segments boast new features such as the nonstop debate mechanic and fresh minigames.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is the third major instalment in the series, landing on PS4 and PS Vita in Japan early 2017, then dropping on PS4, PS Vita, and PC in the West later that year.

Dubbed ‘the biggest, most exhilarating episode yet’, Killing Harmony is set in a ‘psycho-cool’ environment and revolves around 16 new characters who are, once again, kidnapped and imprisoned in a school. With lives on the line, you must dive into a high-stakes, fast-paced investigation, uncovering the mysteries behind brutal murders and condemning your new friends to death.

With the Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School anime closing the Hope’s Peak Academy arc, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is the first game to take place in a new school with a completely fresh cast of characters. However, the gameplay remains relatively similar to the previous titles, with the same loop and linear paths, this time embellished with some new gameplay elements.

Split into the same three major gameplay types you should be familiar with by now, you take control of the protagonist from a first-person perspective, exploring the school at your leisure between character interactions, investigations, and class trials.

Spin-off Danganronpa games

Danganronpa games - a character surrounded by Monokuma units in Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is a spin-off game set between the events of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Published in Japan by Spike Chunsoft in 2014 and seeing a western release in 2015, it’s the first game to break the tried-and-tested visual novel format.

Instead, it’s a third-person adventure shooter game in which you take control of Komaru Naegi, Makoto Naegi’s younger sister, as you attempt to survive in a chaotic city overrun by Monokuma Units. With the help of your partner, Toko Fukawa, you must take control of the Hacking Gun to escape the crafty Monokuma Kids and unveil the secrets of the city.

Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp

Dropping as a part of the Danganronpa 10th Anniversary celebration, Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp is an extended version of Danganronpa V3: Killing Hamony’s Ultimate Talent Development Plan minigame.

An RPG board game featuring a lineup of characters from all of the previous titles, Ultimate Summer Camp tasks you with exploring Jabberwock Island, collecting Hope Fragments, and developing your characters. Battle enemies to earn money, upgrade your equipment, defeat bosses, and unlock new islands in this alternate, non-killing tropical paradise.

Danganronpa game collections and remasters

Danganronpa 1.2 Reload

A collection of the first and second games with several new features, Danganronpa 1.2 Reload initially came out on Playstation Vita in Japan in 2013. In 2017, NIS published the game in North America and Europe on Playstation 4, then re-released it on the Playstation 5 through backwards compatibility.

Danganronpa Decadence

In celebration of the Danganronpa 10th Anniversary in 2021, Spike Chunsoft (and Numskull Games in Europe) released Danganronpa Decadence, a remastered collection for Nintendo Switch. It includes the Anniversary Edition remasters of all the mainline games, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. Additionally, it also features Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summercamp as a standalone experience. Indulge in a decade of despair with either the exclusive, physical-only bundle, or you can purchase the games individually from the Nintendo eshop.

Danganronpa games in order

Working out how to play the Danganronpa games in order can be a little tricky, but we’ve got you covered. Note that, chronologically, Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls falls between Trigger Happy Havoc and Goodbye Despair. However, Ultra Despair Girls contains spoilers for Goodbye Despair, so we recommend playing it third.

  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
  • Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
  • Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls
  • Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony
  • Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp

And with that, our class on the iconic Danganronpa games comes to a close. If you’re feeling spooked after all those thrills, chills, and kills, make sure to use our iPhone flashlight guide when you go to the bathroom tonight. Or, you can head over to our Zoom download guide to phone a friend and make sure they aren’t trapped at Hope’s Peak Academy.

Honkai Star Rail Arlan – relics, attacks, and more

Though he may be a man of little words, Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan does a stellar job of protecting the interstellar Herta Space Station. Okay, he may not win every battle, but he’s more than willing to put his life on the line to protect those around him, and sees the scars he’s earned as badges of honour, reminding him of his purpose.

But regardless of how brave or skilled the head of the Herta Space Station’s security department is, no one should have to shoulder such responsibility alone. Luckily, with the help of our Honkai Star Rail Arlan build guide, you can help lift some of the weight off his shoulders, by getting familiar with all of his attacks and eidolons, and equipping him with the best light cones and relics. Maybe he’ll even reward you by letting you meet Peppy, his adorable little pup.

If you want to introduce yourself to the rest of the inhabitants of Herta Space Station, head over to our Honkai Star Rail tier list and Honkai Star Rail characters guides. We’ve also got a heap more build guides just like this one, including Honkai Star Rail’s Herta, Honkai Star Rail’s Himeko, and Honkai Star Rail’s Bronya.

Who is Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan?

Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan is the head of Herta Space Station’s security department, and is willing to risk his life to protect the staff on board. He’s stoic, inarticulate, and doesn’t really understand the scientific research being carried out by his fellow space station inhabitants, but he wears his scars like battles of honour, considering them a reminder of his ability to protect everyone. Despite his serious demeanour, he can be seen letting down his guard and cracking a rare smile whenever his little dog Peppy is in his arms.

Arlan is a four-star lightning wielder who treads the path of the Destruction. His English voice actor is Dani Chambers, and his Japanese voice actor is Shiraishi Ryoko.

Honkai Star Rail Arlan splash art showing him with his little dog

What’s the best Honkai Star Rail Arlan build?

Arlan is a lightning wielding DPS with high damage and low survivability, and plays the role of a glass cannon in most scenarios. He specialises in taking down single targets, and his skill sees him sacrifice a portion of his HP in order to deal more damage, though he can’t use this skill if his HP is insufficient. His passive also sees his damage increase based on his lost HP.

As such, it’s important to pick the right healer for Arlan’s team. We advise against pairing him up with Honkai Star Rail’s Luocha, as his Abyss Flower skill triggers when an ally falls below 50% HP, which interferes with Arlan’s abilities. Honkai Star Rail’s Natasha is more fitting for the role, as you can control when she heals her allies, and her ultimate is a great emergency button if Arlan’s health falls too low to use his skill.

As of the beta, we recommend prioritising attack, HP, and lightning damage boost stats when building Arlan. The reason we recommend HP is because his buffs and skills are based on a percentage of his max HP rather than a flat rate, so ensuring he has high max HP means he can fall below the required threshold without being at risk of dying in one hit. However, we’re still testing builds, so this is subject to change in the game’s full release.

When it comes to team comps, we recommend pairing him with another DPS and a buffer or support in addition to Honkai Star Rail’s Natasha, but you should avoid keeping him consistently shielded unless his HP is within the required range.

Which light cone should I use for Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan?

The four-star light cone A Secret Vow is tailored to Arlan’s kit, both increasing his flat damage and allowing him to deal extra damage when an enemy has a higher HP percentage than him, which, due to his skills, is likely to be almost always active. However, if you can’t get your hands on A Secret Vow for whatever reason, you can equip him with any light cone that aligns with the path of The Destruction, preferably one that also boosts his attack.

Light cone Effect How to obtain
A Secret Vow Increases Arlan’s damage dealt by 20%. Arlan also deals an extra 20% damage to enemies with a higher HP percentage than him Gacha

Which relics should I use for Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan?

When it comes to relics, the best set for Arlan as of the beta is the Band of Sizzling Thunder, as it increases his lightning damage and shock damage. For substats, we once again recommend aiming for more attack, HP, and lightning damage. After this, you should ensure that he has a decent crit rate/crit damage ratio and some extra energy restoration.

Relic Effect How to obtain
Band of Sizzling Thunder Two equipped: increases lightning damage by 12%
Four equipped: the enemy receives 40% more shock damage from Arlan. Arlan also deals 18% more damage to enemies inflicted with shock
Five equipped: increases lightning damage by 12%
Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Roaring Thunder in Jarilo-VI’s Everwinter Hill

What are Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan’s attacks?

Active

Skill Effect
Basic attack: Lightning Rush (single attack) Deal 60% of Arlan’s attack as lightning damage to a target enemy
Skill: Shackle Breaker (single attack) Consume 15% of Arlan’s max HP to deal 165% of his attack as lightning damage to a target enemy. You can’t use this skill if Arlan’s HP is insufficient
Ultimate: Frenzies Punishment (blast) Deal 224% of Arlan’s attack as lightning damage to a target enemy, and 96% of Arlan’s attack as lightning damage to enemies adjacent to the target

Passive

Skill Effect
Pain and Anger Increases Arlan’s damage based on his lost HP, up to a max of 44%

Technique

Skill Effect
Swift Harvest Immediately attack the enemy. After entering battle, deal 80% of Arlan’s attack as lightning damage to all enemies

Honkai Star Rail's Arlan fighting in the Space Station

What are Arlan’s eidolons?

Eidolons in Honkai Star Rail are similar to Genshin Impact’s light cones. They’re unique buffs that you can only unlock by pulling more than one copy of a character. Here are all of Arlan’s eidolons.

Eidolon  Effect
Level one – To the Bitter End Arlan can use his skill when his HP is at least 5% of his max HP. If his HP is insufficient, using his skill reduces his HP to one
Level two – Breaking Free Arlan’s skill damage increases by 10%. When Arlan uses his skill, it dispels a debuff inflicted on him
Level three – Power Through  Increases the level of Arlan’s ultimate by three, up to a maximum of level of 15, and increases the level of his basic attack by one, up to a maximum of level ten
Level four – Turn the Tables When struck by a killing blow, instead of becoming incapacitated, Arlan immediately restores back to 25% of his max HP. This effect can only trigger once per battle
Level five – Hammer and Tongs Increases the level of Arlan’s skill by three, up to a maximum of level 15, and increases the level of his basic attack by one, up to a maximum of ten
Level six – Self-Sacrifice  When Arlan’s HP is lower than 50%, his ultimate’s damage increases by 15% and the damage multiplier on adjacent targets increases to that of the target enemy

That’s everything we’ve got on Honkai Star Rail’s Arlan as of the beta. We’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as the Honkai Star Rail release date rolls around. In the meantime, head over to our list of the best games like Genshin Impact for a fresh new adventure.

Marvel Snap beginner

The Marvel brand has never been stronger, and while it slowly takes over every avenue of media with blockbuster films and TV shows, the comics company is gradually branching out into different genres of video games after decades of action. Well, Marvel Snap is taking mobile devices by storm, as the deck-building superhero title lets us build up a deck filled with our fave comic heroes.

If you’re a Marvel Snap beginner, there are a few things you need to know to help you in your first steps, and some other tips and tricks that can make your life easier. If you’re familiar with titles such as Hearthstone, you may be at an advantage, but there are still some differences in Marvel Snap, so there’s a lot to learn.

Before we dive fully into our guide, be sure to have a look at our other great content, including articles that cover topics like Marvel Snap decks, Marvel Snap download, the best Marvel games on Switch and mobile, Marvel’s Midnight Suns release date, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 cheat codes, and Marvel Future Revolution codes.

Let’s swing into our Marvel Snap beginner guide.

Marvel Snap beginner guide

Marvel Snap: key art shows America Chavez punching her fist

Finish the missions

It seems obvious, but a lot of people miss this! Battles are the main attraction here, but you can also tap on the missions tab on the home screen to see other tasks you can complete as you take down foes in online matches. These can help your progression in the battle pass and unlock rewards to further boost your deck. You have to battle anyway, so keep a keen eye on the missions to make sure you get everything you can out of the game.

Marvel Snap: several cards from Marvel Snap are visible featuring different Marvel heroes

Balance your deck well

We all want to use heavy hitters like Hulk or Apocalypse to destroy opponents, but at the beginning of the match, you don’t have enough energy to play these sorts of characters, so a deck full of high-energy cards leaves you sitting on your thumbs while the opponent gets ahead. Some common cards also feature really helpful skills, like Black Widow’s ability to add a Widow’s Bite card to the opponent’s deck, or Mantis’ ability which allows you to draw a card from your foe’s deck. Balance things carefully, and use the little guys.

Marvel Snap: several cards from Marvel Snap are visible featuring different Marvel heroes

Retreat if you need to

It’s not a fun feeling to lose, but the gameplay at the heart of Marvel’s Snap is the snap, a gambit which could see you winning more or less essential cubes depending on how much you’re willing to wager. Well, if it looks like you’re not getting anywhere fast, there is no harm in retreating before you end up losing more cubes than you care to part with. You’ll definitely see a few opponents retreating, so save yourself some resources and get out when you can see your opponent outmatches you. You’ll get them next time.

Marvel Snap: several cards from Marvel Snap are visible featuring different Marvel heroes

Undo your actions

Did you play the wrong card? Or instantly realise your mistake? There’s actually an undo button that becomes visible when you press on the blue energy orb after playing a card. It’s a simple tip, but one that could get you out of a tight spot when you make a silly mistake.

Marvel Snap: key art from Marvel Snap shows several Marvel heroes in battle

Don’t forget to upgrade your cards

As you battle, you slowly begin to amass resources, and while it’s great to add new cards to your deck, a handy way to use a little less of your hard-earned cash is to power up the cards you already have. As you play with each card you unlock boosters for that specific card, make sure you use these to power up your pack, helping you to collect more cards and move up the ranks even quicker.

OK Marvel fans, that’s all we have for now, but we’ll certainly come back with more tips and tricks as we continue to get to grips with Marvel Snap. In the meantime, check out our Marvel Snap review to see exactly why everyone is raving about this new title.

FIFA 23 Ultimate Team errors

There are, as always with big online games, possible technical issues that can arise. Check out some of the most notable FIFA 23 Ultimate Team errors below, and how to fix them.

FIFA 23 Ultimate Team not connecting error

Here are a few possible solutions to FUT 23 Ultimate Team connection errors:

  • Close and reopen FIFA 23
  • Restart your console
  • Reboot your router
  • Check your local service provider for any net issues
  • Head to Downdetector to see if others have reported issues

If other people are also reporting connection issues, the likely remedy is to wait around. It’s almost definite the issue is on EA’s side.

Are the FIFA 23 servers down?

As with above, there are a few things you can do to see if the FIFA 23 servers are down or if the issue is on your end. If none of the above steps work, head again to Downdetector to see if others have reported issues. If they have, that’ll be why you can’t connect.

Play Snake on mobile and Switch

Retro classics are called classics for a reason, and it’s undeniable that Snake falls into that category. With origins going all the way back to 1976’s two-player arcade game Blockade, Snake has become its very own genre over the years since. However, you’re likely most familiar with the dot-matrix Snake game that was on every brick phone back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

While gaming has come a long way since the early days of tiny green screens and black pixels, we all feel a little nostalgic sometimes, which is why we’ve gathered this list of titles that allow you to play Snake on mobile and Switch. From pixel-by-pixel emulations of the Snake you remember to whacky, colourful Snake-inspired adventures, you’re bound to find something to scratch that Snake itch.

If you find yourself hitting one too many walls and need to take a break, check out our guide on how to play Solitaire and how to play chess on Switch and mobile. We’ve also got a list of the best retro games on Switch and mobile for even more walks down memory lane.

Play Snake on mobile

Snake ‘97: Retro Phone Classic

Google Play / App Store

If you’re really missing the good old Nokia brick days, back when a phone could fall down three flights of stairs and break the floor at the bottom instead of cracking its screen, then Snake ‘97 is the mobile game for you.

Not only does it emulate the good old green-screen classic version of the game, complete with partially peeled-off screen protector and flecks in the display, it even fills half of your screen with an emulation of the phone itself. Enjoy a real dose of nostalgia with classic maps, dot-matrix display, and monotone sounds.

Snake Game

Google Play / App Store

Another nostalgic adventure, Snake Game takes you through multiple generations of the classic title itself, from the dot-matrix display era through to the smooth, multicoloured serpent.

Using the simple, touchscreen directional pad at the bottom, navigate your way through Classic Snake, Retro Snake, Snack on Steroids, and Snake Master, snagging boosts along the way. There’s even a snake rewind option, if you need a little extra help getting back into the slither of things.

Blocky Snake

Google Play / App Store

If you’re looking for something a bit different to scratch that classic Snake itch, Blocky Snake might just be the game for you. This title follows the tried and tested formula – you’re a snake, you collect food, but for some reason bumping into walls or your own tail leads to fatal consequences.

However, this time it’s isometric, with 3D, blocky snakes slithering around a cube-based world. You can even unlock skins and unique items, and challenge your friends in multiplayer modes.

Play Snake on Switch

Snake vs Snake

For a classic Snake experience on Switch, Snake vs Snake is a great choice. It’s cheap and cheerful, and features an endearingly simple, almost paper-craft art style. Describing itself as ‘inspired by old classical Snake but with a much faster arcade pace’, Snake vs Snake features multiple maps and challenges, and even supports up to six players in the mad-cap battle mode.

Classic Snake Adventures

Classic Snake Adventures is a reboot to the original from ‘97, featuring charming, hand-drawn 2D art as a backdrop to your 3D snake shenanigans. With 100 rounds set across five unique worlds, along with 20 beastly bosses to battle, there’s plenty to keep you busy. Plus, your snake has a whole heap of new abilities, allowing you to change its size, speed, and more mid-game.

The Snake King

In this top-down puzzler, the Snake series is given a fresh twist, as the classic snake himself has returned to claim the crown. The Snake King sees you take control of a 3D snake in an adorably stylistic world. Make your way through five worlds consisting of over 150 specially designed dungeons and procedurally generated arcade levels, as you snag magical power ups and conquer all to achieve glory.

That’s all our recommendations on how to play Snake on mobile and Switch. If you need some help with your more modern phone, check out our guide on how to turn off Siri.

Neko Golf Anime Golf, a crossover of the world of Japanese animation and Scottish ball-thwacking is coming, and it looks a whole lot of fun.

I know what you’re thinking “this sounds amazing! Tell me the Neko Golf Anime Golf release date!” and don’t worry, I’m going to. First though we should cover the features of this exciting title, which includes multiple solo practice modes, online competitive options, and as you might expect for a game of this ilk, countless ways to customise your golfer.

Just because it’s anime-inspired, don’t think that Neko Golf Anime Golf isn’t an honest to god links simulator. The graphics are as crisp as you can find in a mobile golf title, with verdant green fairways that lead you to each green – hopefully in five shots or fewer – and plenty of variation among the courses included in the release day package.

When is the Neko Golf Anime Golf release date?

Unfortunately, we don’t have an exactly Neko Golf Anime Golf release date, but we do know it’s set to land on mobile in October, 2022. If you don’t want to miss a trick with this one, android users can head over to Google Play to pre-register their interest.
