As fun as SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated has been, as noted in our review, the Nintendo Switch version admittedly had some technical issues holding it back from true greatness.
Though Battle for Bikini Bottom doesn’t bring anything new to the table as a 3D platformer, its strong level design, lighthearted tone, and gorgeous remastered visuals make this one an easy recommendation. That being said, rampant technical issues hold the game back from true greatness, which is a real shame given the quality in nearly every other area.
The good news is, publisher THQ Nordic and developer Heavy Iron Studios have now rolled out out a new patch for this particular release – apparently bumping the game up to version 1.0.2.
According to one user on the Nintendo Switch subreddit by the name of Ninjoe07, the game in both docked and handheld mode now apparently looks “a lot” better. They also think the uncapped 60fps frame rate, might have now been capped:
“Even effects like the bubbles that appear when breaking tikis are better. However, it seems like the framerate could be capped at 30 now which is whatever since it was all over the place before.”
If any official patch notes surface, we’ll update this post. How’s your experience been since this update was rolled out? Tell us down below.
