Japanese Politician Won Election By Proposing To Erase Mosaic In Anime

52 years old Yamada Taro won a seat in the Japanese House of Councillors with 514,000 votes, according to [Asahi](https://www.asahi.com/articles/ASM7P6JM7M7PUTIL022.html).
He is dubbed “Defender of ACG” and famed for proposing the removal of mosaic in AV.
“Blurring them only makes it more erotic, ” he told [Nico news](https://originalnews.nico/23592/3).
Yamada emphasized his opposition to piracy sites and his support for the legalization of fan art and fan fiction.
In addition, Yamada has campaigned about improving the working conditions in the anime industry, disability rights and preserve anime as national treasure. He also advocates the right for Japanese women to retain their original surnames after marriage.
Without any sponsor or party support, he appeals to otaku interests such as freedom of speech and internet privacy, holding daily “internet door-to-door” speeches in otaku’s paradise Akihabara.
His family are otaku – his daughter, who is a cosplayer and fujoshi, regularly brings him to Comic-con.
