News - Mike Flanagan In Negotiations To Direct The Exorcist: Deceiver
<p>Universal and Blumhouse's revival of the Exorcist franchise stumbled with The Exorcist: Believer in 2023, but a veteran horror director may soon help reinvigorate the next sequel. Via <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/mike-flanagan-exorcist-sequel/">The Wrap</a>, Mike Flanagan is in talks to helm The Exorcist: Deceiver, following the departure of Believer's director and co-writer David Gordon Green.</p><p>Flanagan has already established himself as one of the most prolific directors in the horror genre, whose previous credits include Doctor Sleep, Oculus, Absentia, Gerald's Game, and Ouija: Origin of Evil. Flanagan has had even greater success on Netflix, where he created The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass in addition his adaptations of The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher.</p><p>Amazon Studios signed Flanagan away from Netflix in 2022, where he began planning an ambitious new adaptation of Stephan King's The Dark Tower.
