Drawful 2 Is Just 9 Cents On The Switch eShop Right Now (North America)
If you’ve ever played The Jackbox Party Pack, you might have also experienced the co-operative party game Drawful. Rather than relying on Joy-Cons, the game makes use of your smartphone or tablet device and requires players to draw a set of words and then get others to guess what they’ve created.
The sequel – Drawful 2 – is much the same and right now it’s on sale on the Switch eShop in North America for just $0.09. That’s so cheap, it’s almost free! Thanks to Wario64 for the heads-up on Twitter:
If you haven’t played this game before, be sure to read our review. One of the main problems we had with it was the asking price, so now that’s it’s 9 cents, it might be worth a look.
Will you be adding this one to your Switch digital library while it’s on sale? Comment down below.

One Of The Best Switch Games Is Discounted On The Eshop
Everyone needs fun distractions right about now, and what better way to occupy your mind than playing an engrossing puzzler? Nintendo Switch owners can grab a few stellar puzzle games right now for discounted prices. The standout game is Baba is You, one of the most inventive puzzle games in recent memory, which is on sale for $11.25 (was $15) until March 25.
In Baba is You, players control the titular rabbit-like creature--who also happens to be you--across more than 200 top-down levels. Blocks are scattered about the screen representing objects and properties of said objects, all of which make up the "rules" of each level. For instance, you'll find blocks labeled "wall" and "stop." When strung together with the word block "is," walls will stop you from making progress. That's a very basic explanation of Baba is You's mechanics. The level difficulty quickly ramps up, and Baba is You shows its true strength: breaking the rules. The end goal is to reach the flag in each level, but who is to say that the flag or even Baba can't change their identities? Baba is You asks you to put your serious thinking cap on. It's one of the best logic puzzlers I've ever played.
If you like puzzlers but don't want to think that hard, the Devolver Digital-published Pikuniku is on sale for just $1 (was $12) until March 27. Pikuniku is a weird game starring a quirky red creature with an oval head, no body, and two skinny legs. Pikuniku's world is filled with colorful characters and lighthearted humor. It's more of a puzzle-exploration game with some platforming elements than a puzzle game, but it's definitely a charming game that the whole family can enjoy.
Video: The Animal Crossing Clone You’ve Probably Never Heard Of
If you’ve played an Animal Crossing game, we bet you’d probably agree that there’s nothing else out there truly like it. From the way you can interact with the animal villagers to the way the game syncs up to the internal clock in your system to make the wild world that much more immersive, it’s truly a special experience.
But did you know there is such a game that snatched up the animal village simulator style straight out of Nintendo’s hands and mashed it up with the DNA of Harry Potter? We’re of course talking about Magician’s Quest: Mysterious Times (also known in Europe as Enchanted Folk and the School of Wizardry) for the Nintendo DS.
Not only does Magician’s Quest feature a rolling overworld with animal NPCs to befriend, but it also features other key elements of Animal Crossing formula. The ability to send letters, shake trees, and decorate your room are all present here. Heck, you’ll even be punished for shutting off your game without saving, just don’t expect to see Resetti. But that doesn’t mean the game doesn’t have its fair share of ideas.
For your viewing pleasure, we’ve gone ahead and summarized the majority of Magician’s Quests features and compared them to the Animal Crossing series in the video above. Be warned though, we didn’t have as much fun playing it as we hoped we would.
Have you heard of or played Magician’s Quest: Mysterious Times? Are you interested in seeing a modern version hit the Switch? Let us know your thoughts down below?
Hunt: Showdown Update Now Live On PS4 And Xbox One, Full Patch Notes Revealed
Developer Crytek's survival shooter, Hunt: Showdown, has a brand-new patch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that addresses a number of issues, including input lag, performance and stability, and more.
The biggest change Hunt's update introduces is a fix to latency. According to a developer note, Crytek "shaved off the most outstanding delays Hunt had between player input and on-screen responses." The studio said the patch, which is focused solely on consoles, should make aiming more responsive. Input lag hasn't been totally eliminated, but rather, as Crytek continues to investigate latency issues, "the changes [the studio has] done now will already present a world of difference in the quality of [Hunt's] experience."
The patch also makes a bunch of other adjustments to Hunt. These include stabilizing the game to prevent crashes, increasing the gamma on PS4 to brighten "extremely dark locations," and more. You can check out the full Hunt: Showdown patch notes below.
This week, our focus is a community artist from the UK. He’s created some amazing Destiny-themed art in the form of fan posters, retro comic book covers, and more! We invited him to share a little bit about the artist behind the brush, or tablet in some cases. Please meet JackDrawss.
Let’s get down to business. Who is the infamous JackDrawss? Tell us about yourself and your journey as a Guardian in the real world.
Jack: So my name is Jack and I live in London, UK. I’m in my second year of college doing film and television studies, however I’ve always loved drawing as a hobby. In October of last year, after Shadowkeep dropped, I drew a fan poster for the release. I also made some for Destiny2’s launch and for Forsaken. I then decided to post it to Twitter under a newly made account, JackDrawss (I wanted to call it JackDraws but that was taken lol). Now I love posting and drawing for the Destiny community every day.
That is a fine looking fan poster. Tell us more about your Guardian. What class and subclass do you enjoy playing as?
Jack: So I’m very much a casual player, but I main a Titan and have done since Destiny 1 vanilla. I usually use the Sunbreaker (Code of the Devastator) subclass, I just love using that long-range melee!
Titans a fine choice and pretty universally agreed upon as the second best class. What’s your favorite weapon to arm your Titan with?
Jack: It’s hard to say but I think Ace of Spades or my Masterworked Hammerhead may be my favourite guns in all of Destiny. They just feel so satisfying to use and I especially love the Ace for its background story. Rest in peace Cayde-6. ?
We all miss him. Now that we’ve gotten to know you a little bit, tell us about your art. Your comic style pieces are awesome!
Jack: So I’ve been drawing since I was very young, I did art in secondary school but it didn’t sit well with me, so I didn’t draw or paint properly for a year until I moved to digital and invested in a Wacom tablet. I love using my tablet and in the couple years I’ve had it, I’ve made some of my favourite pieces to date. In fact, I’m still using the same old tablet and laptop today! I also love drawing Destiny art and last month I had the idea to merge the retro comic style from the 50s and 60s with Destiny’s incredible characters. This was a hit with the community and I’m so grateful for the love they received.
Love the collision of styles with these comics! Where can players go to find your work online?
Any final words before we go?
Jack: I want to thank everyone who’s supported me and my art. I only started a few months ago but everyone has been so kind and supportive of my work. I will continue to make art for all of you!
Thankyou. <3
We’d like to thank Jack for taking time away from his art to chat with us. Go check out his work on Twitter and Instagram.
We’re always on the hunt for our next community member to focus on. If you have someone in mind, let us know on Twitter or our forums.
A Short Hike wins Grand Prize at the 2020 Independent Games Festival!
Adam Robinson-Yu’s A Short Hike won the Seumas McNally Grand Prize for Best Independent Game at the 22nd annual Independent Games Festival (IGF) Awards tonight!
Originally scheduled to take place during the now-postponed Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, the IGF Awards ceremony was reformatted as a virtual livestream to recognize some of the most innovative and excellent independent games of the past year.
In addition to the Grand Prize, A Short Hike also won the community-driven Audience Award, which is chosen by fans through a public voting process. A Short Hike uses a colorfully retro graphical style to present a vibrant exploration game that has players traversing the wilds of Hawk Peak Provincial Park, discovering hidden treasures, friendly hikers and the outside world in the process.
The full slate of 2020 IGF Award winners feature a slew of distinct creations, including the Excellence in Audio award winner, Die Gute Fabrik’s Mutazione, the “mutant soap opera” adventure game that delves into themes of community and personal connection amidst a curious land of lovable mutated creatures. Inkle Studio’s Heaven’s Vault, the winner for Excellence in Narrative, is an archaeological science-fiction adventure that lets players uncover history and deeper truths through puzzle-solving and conversations.
The Excellence in Design winner, Patrick’s Parabox by Patrick Traynor, is a game that plays with the presence and absence of space, creating elaborate puzzles out of recursion and infinities. The Excellence in Visual Art award went to Knights and Bikes, a colorfully hand-painted coming-of-age adventure by Foam Sword Games.
The Nuovo Award, which honors the title that makes jurors ‘think differently about games as a medium,’ went to developer Christoph Frey for The Space Between, a three act narrative experience using surreal motifs and a distinctly retro aesthetic to tell a story of a budding relationship between an architect named Martin and a woman named Clara. As the two explore the building site of the theatre that Martin is building, the two enter into a space where reality begins to subside and a dreamlike story of human relationships begins to unfold.
Finally, the Best Student Game winner, Goblin Rage’s Bore Dome, is a first-person exploration game that offers players a glimpse into beautiful imperfection.
The winners of the 22nd annual IGF Awards are:
Excellence in Visual Art ($2,000)
Knights and Bikes (Foam Sword)

Kenney.nl assets are pretty much synonymous with indie game development. Starting today, March 20th, 2020, for the next 24 hour until 7PM EST the collection of assets are available for free on Itch.io as part of the 10th anniversary celebration.
Lets celebrate 10 years of free game assets! Three of our most popular premium packs are now available for free, for one day only. Thanks for your support through the years!
The asset packs are a huge collection of sprites, tiles, dialogs, fonts and more in a single file download for each asset pack. If you miss out on the giveaway it’s not a huge deal, as Kenney.nl assets are mostly all available for free right here, if perhaps in a slightly less convenient download format.
You can learn more about the giveaway in the video below.
Well, it’s certainly been a bit of a week, hasn’t it? My thoughts go out to all our readers during this time – I hope you’re all staying safe, and staying sane. I hope I’m able to provide at least some relief from the current troubles with some news and updates from the world of mobile gaming.
Not much ‘new’ that’s interesting is coming out at the moment, but on the flip side a lot of the older stuff you’ll know and love is now really, really cheap. More on that below.
The only premium game to grace our ‘Out Now’ list this week, we’ve brought up InfiniteCorps previously. It’s a decision-driven strategy/card game in the same vein as Reigns, but with a cyberpunk setting. You work for a corporation in charge of supply and logistics to the citizens of the futuristic ‘MegaTower’, where the citizens live.
Each loss resets the game with a slightly different set of cards, and you can collect the other sets as you play through the game. We haven’t had a chance to take it for a proper spin yet but we’ve been waiting for more games to try the Reigns formulate, so hopefully this lives up to its promise.
As you will have seen yesterday, Teamfight Tactics is now out on Mobile. It’s the last of current ‘big’ Auto Chess titles to make the crossing, so it’ll be interesting to see how you guys get on with it. I took it for a quick spin yesterday but so far my opinion hasn’t changed – it’s decent, with good production values but apart from using Hexes over a square grid, the differences between this, Underlords and OG Auto Chess are slight.

App Updates & News
War of the Zombierandomly got a couple of updates over the past two weeks, which we only just noticed because of something that flashed up on Steam. They’ve added a mobile rocket launcher vehicle, the ability for a 5th FOB as well as a host of other minor changes. It’s been getting a steady stream of new content since the start of January 2020, after no updates at all through 2019. Might be worth jumping back in, if you haven’t played it in a while!
The mobile version of Multiplayer Survival Horror game Dead by Daylight has been announced. You can pre-register now on either Google Play or iOS, and the full release is slated for April 16th, 2020. Not this game is only for those aged 18 or over.
As spotted by Pocket Gamer, Riot Games also released a dev diary video on Wednesday that goes into a little bit more detail on how the development of League of Legends: Wild Rift is coming along. This is going to be the ‘official’ mobile spin off of the popular PC MOBA, and will be made specifically for phones.

It’s still going to be 5v5 PVP, and the release is scheduled for later this year.
Free & Cheap Mobile Games
So, given the current COVID-19 situation, a lot of people are currently stuck at home looking for something to do, either for themselves or now their children now that a lot of schools are starting to shut. The mobile industry has generally responded with a wide range of sales, discounts, with even some games going for free.
There’s almost too much to list out specifically, but there are plenty of highlights I can throw up. For example:
Through the Ages is currently $4.99. This is only the second time it’s been discounted (Sept 2019) and the best price to date. This is on both iOS and Android.
Games like One Deck Dungeon, Galaxy Trucker… even the Majesty port are all showing deals. Some are best to date, some aren’t but still pretty good. The Sorcery! games are also in this list, and there are plenty more. Reigns: Game of Thrones is $1.99, as is This War of Mine.
My advice is to go check out our Guides section, go through our ‘Best Games’ list and see if there are any that have taken your interest that you haven’t jumped into yet, see if it’s on sale. Odds are it probably is.
What I will try and keep track of in more detail though are any notable free mobile games:
Seen anything else you liked? Played any of the above? Let us know in the comments.
Mechstermination Force Is The Latest Switch Indie To Go Physical
Super Rare Games has today revealed that the next indie release to receive a limited edition physical release on Switch is none other than Mechstermination Force.
Pre-orders for the new release are set to open on March 26th at 6pm GMT on Super Rare Games’ website. 4,000 copies have been printed in total, and each purchase comes with a 20-page full-colour manual, interior artwork, an exclusive sticker, and three trading cards randomly selected from a five-card set.
We enjoyed the game when we first played it on Switch last year. Feel free to read up on it in our review if you want to learn more. Here’s a snippet:
With Cuphead just around the corner, we can’t help feeling sorry for Mechstermination Force. It’s certainly less of a head-turner, but it’s a more approachable take on boss rush platforming, with less of an emphasis on twitch-based, pixel-perfect precision. It’s peppered with ingenious design and amusing writing and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with it.
Are you a fan of the game? Are you tempted to try it now that it’s coming out in physical form? Let us know with a comment.
