News - GTA 6 Is Most Important Game Release In Industry's History, Analyst Says
The games industry isn't in the best shape at the moment, with cost-cutting measures leading to layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations--and there are few major titles on the way to shore up sales. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, industry analyst Mat Piscatella has said that GTA 6 might end up being an incredibly important release for the industry at large.
Piscatella, who works for tracking firm Circana, says 2024 isn't looking great for the games industry, with overall spending expected to dip by anywhere from 2% to 10%, depending on how optimistic you are.
"There's so much uncertainty when you look at the sales data or look to project this year," Piscatella says. "There's uncertainty around the hardware. There's uncertainty about the content. Who the hell's making the games?"

News - Venom 3 Release Date Moved Up, Gets New Title
Venom 3 is coming sooner than anticipated, and it has a new title. Sony Pictures has announced that the third Venom movie has moved up from November 8, 2024 to October 25, 2024. It's going to release in theaters under the title Venom: The Last Dance.
In The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns once again to play Eddie Brock/Venom, alongside Ted Lasso's Juno Temple in a leading role and Chiwetel Ejiofor reportedly as the main villain.
Kelly Marcel makes her feature film directorial debut with The Last Dance. She also wrote the screenplay and the story, alongside Hardy. Marcel wrote the first two Venom movies as well. Outside of that series, Marcel wrote the movies Saving Mr. Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey, two films that couldn't be more different in terms of storytelling and tone.

News - X-Men '97 Creator Beau DeMayo Fired Just Before Debut
Just ahead of the debut of the Disney+ Marvel TV series X-Men '97, Disney has fired writer-producer Beau DeMayo, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
DeMayo also wrote for Moon Knight and contributed to early drafts of the upcoming Blade movie. But The Hollywood Reporter said as of last week, Marvel and DeMayo ended their relationship. The report said DeMayo's company email was deactivated and his Instagram account was deleted.
Crew working on the show were told he was gone, but no explanation for his exit has been confirmed as of yet. Marvel did not comment when approached by THR.

News - Final Fantasy XVI PC Version Is In Final Stage Of Optimization
Final Fantasy XVI director Naoki Yoshida has said that the PC version of the game is in its final stages of optimization.
"In terms of where we are in development currently, we're trying to figure out the final stages of optimization right now," Yoshida explained in an interview with Game Informer. "When we can release the PC version might be dependent on that--the system requirements and specifications for PC that players will need, so we're trying to figure that out. Naturally, [the PC specifications] are looking to be somewhat high."
Yoshida also said that Square Enix is looking to release a demo for the PC version. While he didn't reveal a release date, it seems like it'll come within a year. "It won't be too distant in the future," he said. "It won't be a year, it won't be two years, it will probably be shorter than that, so stay tuned."
