Every year since 2004, the British Academy has held a ceremony to acknowledge video games and the achievements that games can accomplish. The 12th British Academy Games Awards was held in London just yesterday, and featured several winners meeting unique criteria.
The most notable category to win at the BAFTA Games Awards would be the Best Game category, which had many prospective entrees vying for the title. Between Fallout 4, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Rocket League, Life Is Strange, Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, competition was stiff and the decision could not have been made lightly. Fortunately for developer and publisher Bethesda Softworks, Fallout 4 ended up taking the crown for the best game released in 2015.
Among the circle of winners stands Ori and the Blind Forest for Artistic Achievement.
Nominees:
- Assassin's Creed Syndicate

The nominees for Family were Disney Infinity 3.0, FIFA 16, Guitar Hero: Live, LEGO Dimensions, and Super Mario Maker. Nearly two years ago, the first substantial details about The Chinese Room's Everybody's Gone to the Rapture began to surface across social media. The first-person adventure game was originally promoted as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Given the concept of the game's story and the developer's promises of ambient visuals and sounds, gamers and commentators alike would often make reference to the game when addressing other highly anticipated PS4 exclusives such as No Man's Sky and Silent Hills. Initial rumors surfaced earlier this year that a PC port of the game was in the making. Many will be pleased to know that Steam users will be able to experience all the game has to offer beginning on Thursday, April 14, 2016.
The fact that Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is coming to the PC may not be much of a surprise for some. Given that the game's spiritual predecessor, Dear Esther, was originally released for PC in 2012 (OS X and Linux versions came later), many figured that Everybody's Gone to the Rapture would make an appearance on its predecessor's original platform. Interestingly enough, an announcement made roughly one week ago noted that Dear Esther will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime during Summer 2016. With this announcement in mind, some hope to see Everybody's Gone to the Rapture make its way over to Xbox One to further follow in its predecessor's footsteps.
Considering how great Everybody's Gone to the Rapture looks and sounds on PS4, it is no wonder why the game is going to be released on PC. So far, the only explicit plans are for the game to be distributed through Steam, but The Chinese Room tweeted that if there's enough demand, Sony may decide to bring the game to other platforms. Given that Everybody's Gone to the Rapture recently won three BAFTA awards (in the Audio Achievement, Music, and Performer categories) against some worthy competition, it is reasonable to infer that interest and demand for the game could increase further. Whether on PlayStation 4 or PC, the game is an immersive experience that is due some credit.

Kobe Bryant, one of the most legendary players in the NBA, and one of the best players of all time has finally retired from the court as of yesterday. Kobe was equally hated and loved by many basketball fans. Attendees at Kobe's last game could be seen smiling from the nosebleeds as he ended his final game by scoring a massive 60 points. Like James Harden, he missed nothing and worked his magic without passing it. Rocking his sleeve to separate him from the Joes, Kobe is a perfect blend of dedication to his craft, hard work, and a smidge of arrogance thrown into the mix which made him the player and the massive inspiration to his fans he is today. As one of the rare few players to reach a “legendary” status, such as Allen “Saucin’” Iverson, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Shaquille O’ Neal, and Steph Curry, it’s only fitting that he earns his place on his very own special edition of a 2K game.
2K Games officially announced their partnership with Kobe to bring NBA 2K fans the NBA 2K17 Legend Edition, featuring none other than the man himself gracing the cover. The special edition of the game will feature some pretty interesting digital and physical content that was inspired by Kobe. On the physical side, the game will come with two Kobe Panini trading cards, a limited-edition Kobe poster, and a Black Mamba skin for the controller for the game’s respective console. On the digital side, purchasers will receive 30,000 Virtual Currency, a MyTEAM Bundle which will include 3 packs with a guaranteed Kobe limited use card. Nike Kobe 11 retirement sneakers, a Kobe hoodie, and a Kobe #8 Mitchell and Ness jersey.
The Legend Edition will be available in both digital and physical formats, but digital buyers will only receive the digital content. The NBA 2K17 Legend Edition will set you back $80, and will launch this September along with the standard version for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. It currently hasn’t been revealed who will be gracing the cover of the standard edition, but you can expect to hear the official reveal during the NBA 2K16 Road to the Finals professional gaming tournament in June.

How to get a PS4 with a 1.76 firmware or lower
A fully functional PS4 Jailbreak is now available for PS4 running on Firmware 1.76 or lower. The Jailbreak allows to run native code and/or Linux. All files for that exploit have been released here. As such, PS4 models running firmware 1.76 will probably skyrocket in prices very soon, and now might be the last time to get one at a reasonable price.
About PS4 Firmware 1.76
PS4 Firmware 1.76 was released on 8/20/2016(August 20th, 2014). Any bundle released before that date will have a firmware below 1.76.
Some advice when buying for a PS4: - It’s easier to ensure you have the right firmware version if get the device new and sealed, not “used”
- If you get a “used” console, be careful: expect the seller to update before it is shipped. Same with Local stores also. Asking first is always best. Make sure you clarify you want it on that firmware.
- On Amazon and eBay, description isn't always spot on. Make sure to ask the sellers for details if possible.
*Amazon has a great return policy. Use it if the PS4 is not the one you expected!
Buying a PS4 new, with guaranteed low firmware
The best way to get yourself a PS4 with low firmware is to buy one of the old bundles, and get it new. The listings below are old bundles shipping with the old PS4 hardware, which are guaranteed to have firmware <= 1.76, if you buy them new.
On eBay, you can look for PS4 Launch Systems in the Game consoles category. Make sure it is a “sealed” unit.- Ps4 Glacier white with Destiny Bundle
- Battlefield 4 Launch Bundle
- Knack launch Bundle
- “InFamous Second Son + Killzone Shadow Fall + Knack” Bundle
- NBA 2K14 Bundle
- FIFA 2K14 Bundle
- Dynasty Warriors 7 bundle
- Dynasty Warriors 8 bundle
- Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Bundle
- Infamous: Second Son launch bundle
- Watch_Dogs bundle
- Destiny Bundle (black)
- DriveClub Bundle (Black)
- DriveClub Bundle (Glacier white)
- Call of Duty: Ghost Bundle
Additionally, people are reporting that consoles bundled with The Last of us usually ship with firmware 1.76 or 2.03. Get confirmation from the seller before buying those!

Jailbreakable PS4 is now here!
As of 2016/04/02, it is now possible to Jailbreak your PS4 if you are on firmware 1.76 or below. The full files to Jailbreak the PS4 and/or run Linux have been released here. We have an article to help you find a 1.76 PS4 to buy. The dlclose exploit lets you run Linux on your PS4, or run your own PS4 native code.
For people running on a firmware higher than 1.76, generally, we recommend that you stay on as low a firmware as possible, as new hacks will eventually surface. Your current best bet however is to get a 1.76 PS4.
Additionally, people have found ways to pirate games on the PS4 with Raspberry pi (a technique known as the Brazilian Jailbreak) in 2014. It is unclear if this technique still works on latest firmwares.
Search around the forum Playstation Jailbreak forum for more information!
