News - Joaquin Phoenix Quits Movie 5 Days Before Filming, Losses Could Be In The Mil
Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix has abandoned his latest film, just five days before it was due to begin filming, amid a rumor that the actor got "cold feet." Variety reports that Phoenix has left the film, an untitled gay romance movie from Todd Haynes (I'm Not There, Carol). Phoenix was very involved in the film, developing the screenplay with Haynes and Jon Raymond. Full sets had been built in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the film was already sold to distributors. The site reported that the movie is now "in peril," and that Phoenix's part "cannot be recast." All of the crew and stakeholders are waiting to be paid, and losses for the movie could "exceed seven figures." Variety mentioned Phoenix potentially getting "cold feet," but it's not immediately clear why. Continue Reading at GameSpot

News - Cat Quest: The Fur-Tastic Trilogy Includes Complete Series On One Nintendo Sw
Cat Quest has been one of gaming's hidden gems, and with a threequel out this week, now is a great time to experience a paw-some action-RPG series. Switch owners looking to explore a land where feline and canine kingdoms are at war can add Cat Quest: The Fur-tastic Trilogy to their collection on October 24. The Fur-tastic Trilogy is available to preorder now at Amazon for $50, and it includes all three three games on one cartridge. The Cat Quest games aren't genre-defining RPGs, but they are cozy little adventures with gorgeous 2.5D graphics that feel like the video game equivalent of comfort food. There's nothing wrong with a by-the-numbers adventure, especially when it has some cathartic grinding and a lot of puns revolving around cats and dogs. This little collection includes 2017's Cat Quest, the 2019 sequel Cat Quest 2, and the newly released Cat Quest 3. The first two games received paw-sitive reviews, and on GameSpot's sister-site Metacritic, Cat Quest 3 currently has a "generally favorable" Metascore of 81 from 12 reviews. It's not rocking the boat, but when you're looking for a game that's easy to dive into, the Cat Quest series is up for the job. If you're looking for a few more game deals, you can check out this Humble Bundle special for several of Capcom's best compilations. For $30, you can get Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle, and Capcom Fighting Collection. There's also the Fanatical Summer Sale that's offering not only big deals on games, but also the chance to earn free games. Continue Reading at GameSpot

News - Disney Plus And Company's Other Streaming Services No Longer Losing Money
The Walt Disney Company announced on its August 7 investor call that its direct-to-consumer business, including Disney+ and Hulu, reported a quarterly operating loss of $19 million. That is an exponentially lower sum than the $505 million loss the previous year. In the third quarter earnings released, Disney's streaming business turned profitable for the first time, generating $47 million across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Plus. Disney CEO Bob Iger highlighted the company's strong quarter, achieving profitability in the streaming business. The success was attributed to the 2015 Pixar film Inside Out, which drove 1.3 million Disney+ sign-ups, with the sequel becoming the top-grossing animated film globally. "This was a strong quarter for Disney, driven by excellent results in our Entertainment segment both at the box office and in DTC, as we achieved profitability across our combined streaming businesses for the first time and a quarter ahead of our previous guidance," Iger said in a statement.
