Swipe the Knee: Game of Thrones Reigns on the way?

The developers of Reigns & Reigns: Her Majesty could be bringing us a Game of Thrones-inspired sequel/spin-off/license game in the near future.

Our eagle eyed brethren over at Pocket Gamer spotted a tweet from the official Reigns account yesterday afternoon that was nothing but an image – a map of Westeros (as imagined by the TV Show), rendered in the familiar art style of Nerial’s innovative narrative game.

There’s really nothing else to say without needless speculation, although PG noted we’re approaching the 1 year anniversary of Reigns: Her Majesty’s release date.

SoulCalibur 6 Gets A Second Story Mode And A Series Veteran Makes Her Return

During Gamescom 2018, Bandai Namco announced the second story mode for SoulCalibur 6. The company also revealed a gameplay trailer for Tira, a new DLC fighter.

The new story mode is called Libra of Souls, and it allows you to play as your own custom character through a single-player campaign. You'll have 16 different races to choose from for your character before customizing how they look, from their body type to facial features. You'll even be able to pick what type of fighting style they specialize in, and choose the armor and weapon that you think best fits that style.

After making your character, you'll fight your way through a unique campaign that pits you against an evil mastermind bent on gathering the Soul Edge shards. Familiar faces from SoulCalibur 6's main campaign, Chronicle of Souls, will show up to either help or hinder you. Chronicle of Souls takes you back to the beginning of the SoulCalibur franchise and revisits the events of the first game. Like the fighters you play as in Chronicle of Souls, your custom Libra of Souls character will be available to play in both online casual and ranked matches.

At Gamescom, Bandai Namco also revealed a gameplay trailer for DLC fighter Tira. First introduced in SoulCalibur 3, Tira has since become a veteran of the franchise and appeared in both SoulCalibur 4 and SoulCalibur 5.

In both SoulCalibur 4 and 5, Tira's fighting style was transformed to match how her personality unexpectedly changes. She has two different states, Gloomy and Jolly, with the former allowing her to dish out more powerful attacks at the cost of her own health. Some of her moves allow you to switch Tira's states on the fly, but she can also just change whenever she feels like it or after she's struck by certain attacks. The new trailer suggests Tira maintains this fighting style in SoulCalibur 6, but Bandai Namco hasn't confirmed whether or not that is the case.

SoulCalibur 6 is launching for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on October 19.

PS4's Free PS Plus Games Of August 2018 Now Available

We've entered the month of August, which means that the new offerings for free PlayStation Plus games have rotated into circulation. As always, these games will be available throughout the month of August, expiring on September 4.

First up on PlayStation 4 is Mafia III, the open-world crime game set in New Bordeaux, a New Orleans-like city from the civil rights era. You take on the role of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam vet who comes back into town to get revenge for the death of the family who took him in. PS4 also offers Dead by Daylight, a competitive 4v1 horror game that matches four survivor characters against one relentless killer.

PlayStation 3 offers the action-RPG Bound by Flame, along with Serious Sam 3: BFE. On Vita, you can get Draw Slasher and the Warhammer 40K game Space Hulk. As a bonus, a couple more games are on-tap for an extended period. The PSVR horror game Here They Lie is available until October 2 and the quiz game Knowledge is Power is up until November 6.

PS3 and Vita owners have less than a year to continue reaping the benefits of PlayStation Plus. Starting on March 8, 2019, those two platforms will phase out of the service and only PlayStation 4 games will be offered from that point onward.

New Preview Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead 1810 Update – 8/12/18

Starting at 2:00 p.m. PDT today, members of the Xbox One Preview Alpha – Skip Ahead and Preview Alpha rings will begin receiving the latest Xbox One system update (1810.180810-1920). Important Build Notes

Avatars

We’ve received feedback that the integration of Avatars on console has been a bit confusing due to the use of phrases like “Avatars on Home” and “Avatars on Dashboard,” so we wanted to clear up a few things. Currently, Avatars are visible to Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip Ahead and Alpha Rings in the following places: the Avatar Editor, activity feed, leaderboards, and the Profile.

You will notice a User Interface (UI) change to the filters in My Games and Apps.  Please provide your feedback as we flight this new UI.

FIXES:

Audio

• We have fixed the issues with audio that some users with Bitstream HDMI audio or optical out experienced hearing no audio at all or intermittent audio.

My Games and Apps

• Fixed an issue when some games and apps would not install even if the console had enough storage.

System Performance

• Various Performance and bug fixes.

Virtual Keyboard

• We have fixed the issue in which some users were reporting that the Virtual Keyboard was showing only Numbers in Just Dance 2018.

  

 KNOWN ISSUES:

Audio

• We are aware that some users are experiencing issues with headsets with the mic not working. Please file feedback when you see this.

 Avatars

• It can take up to 10 seconds to view an Avatar on the profile screen the first time after your console has flashed.

Console performance

• We are aware that some users encounter performance issues when coming out of instant on.  Please take the console update and then after it has landed on home, wait and be patient as some fixes are implemented.  You should then see subsequent boots being a lot faster. Please file feedback if you continue to see issues.

Microsoft Edge

• Microsoft Edge crashes for some users at random times.
• The cursor may disappear when exiting and re-entering the app
  
  • Workaround: Press Y when re-entering the app to make the cursor re-appear

Oneguide

• Sometimes users may encounter stuttering when launching straight into Oneguide after the console is turned on from Instant on.  Please file feedback when you see this.
• Here is a workaround to resolve temporarily:
  
  1. Navigate Home via the Guide
  2. Quit OneGuide manually from the Home screen
  3. Wait 15-30 secs
  4. Launch any other streaming app (Netflix, HBOGO, YouTube)
  5. One launched, play a video
  6. Once video begins playing (it should play normally) exit the app and relaunch OneGuide

Profile Color

• Sometimes users may encounter an incorrect Profile color when powering on the console.

Streaming Apps

• Streaming apps such as Crunchyroll and The NFL app are crashing as reported by some users.  Please file feedback if you continue to see issue.

Virtual Keyboard

• We are aware that some characters in when using the Virtual Keyboard in conjunction with a chat pad.  Workaround : Disconnect the chatpad.
