News - Rebirth Island Removed From Warzone Just Hours After It Returned

Rebirth Island has been removed from the Call of Duty: Warzone playlist due to "map-specific issues," just hours after the popular map returned. Players are waiting on further updates from Treyarch to find out when the map is likely to be returned to rotation.

It's a busy time for Warzone, after its big integration with Black Ops 6 and Season 1 launch last week. The update brought Black Ops 6 operators, weapons, and even game features to Warzone, as well as the new Area 99 Resurgence map, however the integration hasn't been without its hiccups. Players have experienced issues, especially with game audio, as well as with performance on PC.

Players might have been looking forward to playing the popular Rebirth Island map when it was re-added to Warzone with this week's playlist refresh, but the map was pulled from rotation just over three hours after it was added.

2024 was stacked with awesome RPGs of all flavors, and 2025 looks to be starting out strong with Avowed, which launches on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass on February 18. This new first-person fantasy RPG comes from Obsidian, the legendary developer behind hits like Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds, Pentiment, and more.

While there are a few more months left until the game arrives, preorders are now available for multiple editions of Avowed--some of which even grant you early access to the game along with a bunch of bonus content--though, physical collectors may find the options to be a bit lacking.

Avowed Preorder Bonuses

While multiple editions of Avowed come with exclusive content, the only true preorder bonus available for the game is five-day early access to the full game when you purchase the Digital Premium or Steelbook Premium Editions before launch. The Avowed early access period begins on February 13.

Season 2 of Apple TV's dystopian sci-fi series Silo premieres today, November 15, but it's not the only exciting Silo-related release this week. Silo is adapted from a stellar trilogy by Hugh Howey, and the first book in the series received a special hardcover edition on November 12. Wool Collector's Edition is available to purchase from Amazon for a 25% discount, dropping the price of this eye-catching hardcover to only $30.

The Silo Saga is also featured in Amazon's Buy Two, Get One Free Book Sale. Sadly, Wool's new hardcover edition is not eligible for the promotion, but a box set, two of the books on their own, and multiple other novels by Howey are featured in the B2G1 Free Sale.

News - Atomfall, Which Is Basically British Fallout, Gets Release Date And Trailer

June's Xbox Showcase showed off the first look at Atomfall, a first-person survival-action title that seems to have a lot in common with the Fallout franchise. Now, Rebellion Developments' very British take on the post-apocalypse has a release date: March 27, 2025. A new teaser trailer accompanied that announcement, which sends the viewer into Casterfell Woods, a creepy and bizarre English forest.

If the eerie red telephone box reminds you of Doctor Who, that's not a coincidence. In a guest post on Xbox's official site, Rebellion's associate head of design, Ben Fisher, confirmed that the long-running British sci-fi series was an inspiration for Atomfall. Somewhat like Fallout, this game's alternate history diverges from our own in the 1950s. It also draws upon the real-life nuclear accident during the Windscale fire in 1957. Within the world of the game, the fallout from that incident charted the course for Atomfall's dark future.

One of the players' goals is to discover what really happened at Windscale, but survival is a more immediate concern. As shown in the video, the inhabitants of Casterfell Woods won't hesitate to put down the player's character. There's also an enigmatic voice on the other end of the phone that says, "Oberon must die." Oberon was the king of the fairies in medieval literature, and he was also a featured character in William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. While the Oberon in the Atomfall is probably not the same character, there's presumably a reason why that name was chosen.
