Minecraft 1.14 Snapshot 19W06A
This week’s snapshot is a small one, but it brings a fancy new splash screen! Start up the snapshot and you’ll find out right away.
A full summary of the content available in this snapshot can be found in the changelog on Minecraft.net, the following is a short summary:
Added a new splash screen and slightly improved startup time
Updated LWJGL to 3.2.1
Particles are now broken up into individual textures rather than being in particles.png
This breaks resource packs right now but we’re working on a way to still be able to load old resource packs

Fixed bugs
To get snapshots, open your launcher and go to the “launch options” tab. Check the box saying “Enable snapshots” and save. To switch between the snapshot and normal version, you can find a new dropdown menu next to the “Play” button. Back up your world first or run the game on in a different folder (In the “launch options” page).
Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com.
Snapshots can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

Crimson Days 2019
“Do you hear that? Love beckons. And when love beckons, who among us can say no?” —Lord Shaxx
Crimson Days returns on Tuesday, February 12. This year’s event will be similar to the one from last year, but we have changed a few things up and added a few new rewards.
Crimson Doubles is the 2v2 Crucible playlist at the center of the event. The combat scenario is 2v2 Clash with a round-based twist. Stay in close proximity to your partner and your abilities will recharge at a faster rate. Stray too far, and your enemies will be given a waypoint leading to your location. If you can’t find a partner, don’t worry, we’ll play matchmaker and find one for you. To sweeten the deal we will be turning on Valor bonuses throughout the event for both Crimson Doubles and all other Crucible modes.
You will start out by speaking with Lord Shaxx in the Tower, who will give you the Fire of the Crimson Days emblem. He will have five Crimson Bounties available for you. Crucible not your cup of tea? The Bounties will send you to both PVE and PVP activities. There will be four daily bounties and one weekly bounty which calls for you to duo Nightfall with your partner.
The Rewards
Last year there was a series of rewards for completing specific activities. The rewards are returning, but the way you earn them has changed. Shaxx will be giving out Confectionery Hearts for completing Crimson Doubles matches and turning in Crimson Bounties. You will use those to purchase the rewards.
Some of you may have some or all of the rewards from last year, so we have added two new rewards for you to earn.
Similar to Horror Story in the last Festival of the Lost, a max power weapon will be available during Crimson Days. Shaxx will be offering a new bow, “The Vow”, in exchange for Confectionery Hearts.
The Vow comes fully masterworked and is the first bow available to all players of Destiny 2 and will be Power 650 for Forsaken players. Here it is in action.
While you are playing Crimson Doubles you will be earning 7 Confectionery Hearts with every win and 5 for every loss. Each daily bounty will reward you with 15 Hearts, and the weekly Nightfall Duo bounty will give you 75! Here are the Confectionery Heart costs for each reward Shaxx is offering:

Undeterred Exotic Sparrow – 50
The Vow Legendary Bow – 100
Wardcliff Coil Ornament – 125
Flaunting Dance Legendary Emote – 150

If you are still looking to spend your extra hearts, Shaxx will also be offering a Warmhearted Gift Package that will give you a chance to receive Enhancement Cores, weapons, mods, gear, and resources.
That’s not all. Along with these reward there will be a set of Crimson Days Triumphs for you to complete. We don’t want to spoil all the treats and reveal the Triumphs just yet, but we will let you know the sweet reward for completing them all.
If you complete all of the Crimson Days Triumphs, you will earn the Sugary Ghost Shell.
Double Drops
Double drops are back. A Crimson Engram will drop with every Bright Engram a player earns. Crimson Engrams will also be available for Silver. The contents of the Engram have not changed, so if you didn’t get everything you wanted last year or are new to Destiny, this is your chance to grab some of these items.
The Tiny Bow Emote and the Shot through the Heart Ornament for The Vow will also be available for direct purchase in Eververse bundles.
Crimson Days will begin next Tuesday, February 12, and conclude on the weekly reset at 9 AM PST on Tuesday, February 19. Start looking for a partner to be your Crimson Bond and get ready for a fun week of hearts, sweets, and fun.

When earning the legendary bow from Lord Shaxx, The Vow, players will receive a discount code to unlock The Vow Hoodie for purchase from Bungie Rewards.

The Simpsons Renewed For Two More Seasons On Fox
The Simpsons, which is already one of the longest-running TV shows in history, will continue to get new episodes for the foreseeable future. Fox has officially renewed the show for Seasons 31 and 32. This will take the show up to an unthinkable 713 episodes.
According to Deadline, Fox also signed deals with the cast members for Seasons 31 and 32, though terms were not disclosed. For its current 30th season, The Simpsons continues to be a ratings success. As of January 20, individual episodes were reaching an audience of 7.5 million viewers on average across all platforms. Fans might agree that the quality of the show has declined in recent years, but it's clear the show and wider franchise remains wildly popular.
The Simpsons' multi-decade run hasn't been without issues and controversy. Comedian Hari Kondabolu's 2017 documentary, The Problem With Apu, explores Apu as a character and focuses on him as a stereotype. Series creator Matt Groening responded to the controversy by saying "people love to pretend they're offended."
Outside of the TV series, The Simpsons Movie was released in 2007 and there is talk about another one. There are also Simpsons theme park attractions and a multitude of merchandise like Duff beer.
Fortnite Season 8 Is Approaching, And Earthquakes Have Begun Occurring In-Game
With Season 7 of Fortnite winding down and a new season on the horizon, strange phenomena have once again begun occurring in the hit battle royale game. Epic Games typically heralds the arrival of each new season with some kind of world-changing event, so this isn't entirely surprising. This time, however, the developer is literally shaking things up, as players have begun to experience earthquakes while playing.
Following the release of game's 7.30 update, dataminers discovered audio files indicating some sort of earthquake event would occur in the game (via Fortnite Insider). It appears the tremors have started, as players on Twitter and Reddit are posting clips of the map spontaneously quaking in the middle of a match.
The aforementioned audio files were labeled as "small," "med," and "lrg," suggesting the tremors players are experiencing in the game will only continue to grow in strength as we approach Season 8. As for what they could mean for the new season, that remains anyone's guess at this point, although it'll likely result in some portion of the map being dramatically transformed.
Season 7 of Fortnite is set to end on February 28 according to Epic's website, which means you only have a little time left to complete any outstanding challenges and unlock this season's skins and other rewards. How Zowe Is Bringing the Mainframe into the Modern Age
The goal of the Zowe project is to create a framework that enables developers to bring their latest tools to work on the mainframe. IBM, Broadcom, and Rocket Software worked together and open sourced their own technologies to achieve this. According to the project website, Zowe provides various components, including an app framework and a command-line interface, which lets users interact with the mainframe remotely and use integrated development environments, shell commands, Bash scripts, and other tools. It also provides utilities and services to help developers quickly learn how to support and build z/OS applications.
“What Zowe allows both end users and developers to do is enable a newer generation of users and developers to have access to all the critical data within all these financial, retail, and insurance systems living on the mainframe,” she said.
The fact is that almost all of the critical mainframe applications were written decades ago. Some of these companies are more than 100 years old, and they are using mainframe systems for their mission-critical workloads. So, what Zowe is trying to achieve is to open source some of these technologies to help companies bring their existing workloads into the modern day. This will also allow them to attract a new generation of users and developers.

With special thanks to all of our friends and colleagues at PlayStation, we are thrilled to announce that starting RIGHT NOW, Rocket League has entered the PlayStation Cross-Play Beta program! Players on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam can now randomly matchmake with or against each other in all Online match types (i.e. Casual, Competitive, and Extra Modes).
To make sure that Cross-Platform play is enabled (it is by default), head to the "Main Menu," select "Options" and then make sure the "Cross-Platform Play" box is checked in the "Gameplay" tab. And that's all there is to it. You are now ready to play against gamers on other platforms across the world!
But what about cross-platform parties? In our first update this year (more information coming soon), we will release our cross-platform party system, which allows you to partner up with friends on any platform with the push of a few buttons.
Should you want to play with friends on other platforms before cross-platform parties release, however, you can! Just select "Play" from the "Main Menu," then "Private Match," followed by "Create" or "Join Private Match," and you're set from there.

Jordan Peele's Us Gets A Seriously Creepy New Poster
Jordan Peele's directorial debut Get Out was most of the most successful and critically acclaimed horror movies of recent years, and expectations are high for his follow-up, Us. It's another horror film and arrives next month. Following the movie's recent freaky Super Bowl trailer, a stunning new poster has been released.
The poster was tweeted by Peele himself, and it shows star Lupita Nyong'o (Black Panther) pulling aside a mask of her smiling face to reveal a much scarier version underneath. We already know that the film focuses on a family who are terrorised by a group of identical doppelgangers, and this poster is every bit as unnerving as the footage released so far. Us also stars Nyong'o's Black Panther co-star Winston Duke as Gabe Wilson. Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid's Tale) and Tim Heidecker join them as members of the Tyler family, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II from Aquaman and Anna Diop from the DC Universe streaming series Titans, also appearing. It hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
2019 is set to be a big year for Peele. In addition to Us, his take on a new Twilight Zone series will debut on CBS All Access on April 1 (disclosure: CBS is GameSpot's parent company). Peele will serve as host and narrator of the show, and his production company, Monkeypaw, is set to produce the series.
In addition, Peele is producing a new Amazon series titled The Hunt. The show is set in 1977 New York City and centers on a group of people known as Hunters who track down Nazis hoping to establish a Fourth Reich in America. Last month it was reported that Al Pacino will take the lead role in the series.
