Amazon Orders I Know What You Did Last Summer YA Horror Series
<p><span>The long-gestating plans to turn the hit 1997 teen-slasher flick I Know What You Did Last Summer </span><a href="https://www.gamespot.com/articles/aquamans-james-wan-to-direct-i-know-what-you-did-l/1100-6468726/">into a "YA horror series"</a><span> just moved along one big step closer to reality: </span><a href="https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/i-know-what-you-did-last-summer-series-amazon-1234804759/">Variety</a><span> is reporting that Amazon Studios has given the idea a series order. If the adaptation idea sounds a little out there, it's worth remembering that the '90s movie was itself an adaptation of the 1973 YA suspense novel of the same name by Lois Duncan.</span></p><p dir="ltr">Sara Goodman (Preacher) will write and co-executive produce the series. Shay Hatten (John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum) will also co-executive produce, joined by James Wan (Aquaman). The new series sounds like a back-to-basics approach featuring the same premise as the movie (via <a href="https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/i-know-what-you-did-last-summer-series-amazon-1234804759/">Variety</a>): "In a town full of secrets, a group of teenagers are stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night." Based on initial--though still sparse--details, the series will be a modern update sticking to the original formula.</p><p dir="ltr">"The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I Know What You Did Last Summer series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie," said Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of television for Amazon Studios.
