Although Switch owners won’t be able to tuck into the new and exciting DOOM Eternal tomorrow, they can enjoy the rerelease of DOOM 64. A special stage has been made for this new rerelease and we can now see it in action for the first time.
We first heard about this new level earlier in the month, when senior developer James Haley revealed that a new chapter would be playable in the game that ties into the new 2016 DOOM and DOOM Eternal. Back then, he said that “persistent players will have the opportunity to unlock a new chapter in the Doomguy’s saga, taking place shortly after [Doom 64’s] original campaign concludes”.
As it turns out, the tie-in content appears to revolve around the text shown upon completion of the level, which provides a little more lore relating to both the newer releases and DOOM 64 itself. Of course, the series’ most dedicated fans will get the most out of this little nod.
