Anniversary: amiibo Have Been Draining Our Bank Accounts For Five Years Now

<p>It might be pretty hard to believe, but it has now been five whole years since we first got our hands on Nintendo’s amiibo figures.</p>
<p>Today sees the fifth anniversary of the launch for the first wave of figures in Japan, where characters like Link, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, Pikachu, Mario and more all entered the scene as part of the Super Smash Bros. Collection. They actually launched slightly earlier in North America and Europe, on 21st and 28th November 2014 respectively, so we’re firmly into our sixth year of collecting in the west.</p>
<p>To celebrate the occasion, Nintendo’s official Japanese Instagram account has shared a cute little video. We still remember picking up our first figure (it was Link, if you’re asking) and we’ve been spending far too much on the things ever since.</p>
