The original Ittle Dew is making its way to Nintendo Switch and we really don’t have long to wait until we can play it all over again.
The game, which was actually pitched to Nintendo as a Legend of Zelda game before forming its own identity, sees you crashing onto a strange island and heading out on an adventure full of exploration, puzzles, and optional speedrunning should you be up for the challenge.
The Zelda inspiration is rather clear to see throughout, but we really enjoyed our time with it when we first reviewed the game for Wii U and it makes sense to see it arrive on Switch alongside Ittle Dew 2+. Here’s a snippet of what we had to say:
Ittle Dew is a top-class puzzle-adventure title that Zelda fans will absolutely adore. Even if you’re not a Hyrule aficionado, there’s enough wit and charm (and one of our favourite soundtracks in the entire Wii U library) to make it appealing to players from all walks of life. Unfortunately, the combat mechanic is sub-par, and most egregiously the game is full of technical issues. They are by no means a deal breaker, though, and you should definitely check this one out; Ittle Dew is one of the most clever, well-designed indie titles on the eShop.
The trailer above notes that the game will release on Switch on 18th August, but both the European and North American eShop listings for the game say that it’ll launch on the 15th for £8.99 / $9.99. We’d probably bet on the latter ourselves, but don’t be alarmed if it does arrive a little late.
