[Updated 9/10/22]
Tutorial 1:
What we are going to use is mineshafter. Works with 1.8. But not over LAN. Through my experience at least.
I use 1.7.10 because there are a lot of mods I use which I will link later the best ones IMO.
1. Alright so just go over to
Download newest version.
2. Alright so go download demo of minecraft, install and what not.
May have to register to download)
3. Run MineShafter, mine is in the same folder as minecraft.exe
4. Use whatever username and password. Doesn't matter unless you want skins through the mineshafter website, then you will have to sign up there and register a username.
Easy as that.
If you want to join a server click this link to view available.

Once again Lan only works on 1.7.10 and older as of 11/21/14
Tutorial 2:
So first off, there's a client called tlauncher. Some call it a cracked client, because it let's you access minecraft without authentication servers.
Download:
https://tlauncher.org/en/
Once you have downloaded the launcher and launched it, the tips should show you how to get started,
but if they weren't clear:
1) you Need to enter your name (nickname) in the box.
2) Select the game version you want to run (a lot of them, so there are plenty to choose)
3) click "Install".
After this, will start downloading game files and will be followed by the launch of the Minecraft!
so, with these simple three steps you got a working Minecraft java edition absolutely free. There are very few problems with this launcher. So should work for a long time!
Now that you have it installed, maybe you would like to checkout a public server that allows "cracked clients"?
Well come check McEcon hosted by SickGaming.net
IP: mcecon.sickgaming.net
We are a modded survival economy server. PVE, with PVP allowed in the nether. Great place to come hangout with friends.
Hope this has helped!
Thanks would be appreciated.
