PlayStation only Double XP active on all platforms in Black Ops Cold War - CharlesAMD - 12-24-2020
Black Ops Cold War’s PlayStation exclusive XP turns out to not be all that exclusive.
Earlier this week, Activision announced a free to play weekend for Black Ops Cold War that also included mentions of multiple Double XP events for players. These events ranged from Double Battle Pass XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double XP in general.
The first event was listed to start December 17th for Double XP only, however, this was exclusive to PlayStation players first – or it was supposed to. Quickly after the update players discovered that Double XP was also active on Xbox & PC, as you can see in the screenshot below. (Image taken from PC).
It appears that some sort of error was made when the update rolled out, granting players on Xbox & PC access a day earlier than expected, making this “exclusive” event not so exclusive after all.
It’s currently unknown how Treyarch will plan to address this. They could turn off Double XP for other platforms for the remainder of the day, or also compensate PlayStation an extra day of truly exclusive Double XP for the error.
At this time, this Double XP event was the only one with exclusive early access to PlayStation. The remaining events will be across all platforms and available at the same time. The planned XP events are as follows:
- Dec. 17 at 10AM PT through Dec. 21 at 10AM PT: Double XP will be live in Black Ops Cold War MP & Warzone only on PlayStation (Currently live on all platforms as an error)
- Dec. 18 at 10AM PT through Dec. 21 at 10AM PT: Double XP & Double Weapon XP will be live in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on all platforms
- Dec. 22 at 10AM PT through Dec. 28 at 10AM PT: Double Battle Pass XP will be live in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War MP on all platforms
- Dec. 25 at 10AM PT through Dec. 28 at 10AM PT: Double Battle Pass XP will be live in both Black Ops Cold War & Warzone on all platforms
