[Dev News] RayLib 6.2 Released - xSicKxBot - 10-16-2026 There is a new release in the free and cross platform C based game development framework RayLib. The 6.2 release isn’t huge, but it is the first major update in about 6 months and contains over 500 commits since the previous release. Highlight features of RayLib 6.2 include: Redesigned Image Drawing API: The CPU-side Image drawing API has been heavily reviewed and redesigned to align with the GPU-accelerated Screen/Texture drawing API. Most texture-based functions now have a direct CPU counterpart that uses the same parameter order. Standardized File Return Values: File API return conventions have been standardized, which may require developers to update return-value checks in existing codebases. Major Security Enhancements: The release addresses multiple security vulnerabilities identified during a professional security audit conducted by Radically Open Security (ROS). Massive Expansion for a “Patch”: Originally intended to be a simple patch to fix a CMake build system issue, 6.2 grew into a major update encompassing over 300 changes and improvements. API Additions: Added 20 new functions to the core Raylib API (bringing the total to 619 functions). More Learning Resources: Introduced 10 new examples to the projects added Key Links RayLib Homepage RayLib GitHub RayLib 6.2 Release Details RayLib Discord Server You can learn more about RayLib, the RayLib 6.2 release and see just how easy it is to get started with this C game development framework, in the below. |
