At present, Japan&#8217;s consumption tax stands at 8%, but this will be bumped up to 10% next month.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, with the Switch Online service&#8217;s pricing being relatively low in the first place, we doubt the change will have <em>too<\/em> much of an effect on many players. A 12-month subscription currently costs \u00a52,400 (approx. \u00a318.10) and this will rise to \u00a52,448 (approx. \u00a318.46). By our calculations, a Family subscription will therefore rise from its usual \u00a54,500 price to roughly \u00a54,584 (approx. \u00a333.90 to \u00a334.53).<\/p>\n<p>Naturally, Switch Online subscribers based in any other country won&#8217;t be affected and will be able to renew or pick up a new subscription at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2018\/09\/guide_nintendo_switch_online_faq_-_everything_you_need_to_know_-_pricing_cloud_saves_nes_games\">original pricing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Hopefully <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/09\/guide_the_20_snes_games_on_nintendo_switch_online_ranked_by_us\">all those SNES games<\/a> will be worth the extra cash!<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan will have to pay a slightly higher fee to renew their subscriptions starting from October, as the service&#8217;s standard price is due to rise.
