Today, WWE Superstar Batista confirmed the long-standing hopes of many, including his own.<\/p>\n

As revealed on his personal Twitter account<\/a>, Batista will officially enter the Gears of War Universe later this month, donning the armor of Marcus Fenix as a Gears 5<\/em><\/strong><\/a> multiplayer character.<\/p>\n

Fans around the world have long expressed hope that Batista will be cast for the role of Marcus Fenix in the film version of Gears of War<\/a>, an opportunity he\u2019s described as a \u201cdream role.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

While the movie remains in development, The Coalition didn\u2019t want any more time to go by without giving Batista a chance to don the armor, which he wore for as part of an upcoming WWE Network promotion for Gears 5<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. According to those who were there, the armor which was created to match the specifications of the game, \u201cfit him perfectly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rod Fergusson, who has cast and directed every Gears title, directed Batista\u2019s performance for Gears 5<\/em>, including over seven hundred lines recorded for the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdding Batista to Gears 5<\/em>, we started with the fantasy of \u2018Batista as Marcus,\u2019 putting Batista into Marcus\u2019 armor, and starting with Marcus\u2019 script. Then we added elements of \u201cThe Animal\u201d Batista into his voice performance and onto his look by adding his signature Hollywood shades to his character.  Batista was great in the booth and I can\u2019t wait for Gears and Batista fans alike to stomp some Swarm as The Animal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Xbox has partnered together with WWE to create a special countdown to Batista\u2019s availability in the game, including behind-the-scenes with Gears 5<\/em> and Batista on WWE\u2019s UpUpDownDown<\/a> gaming channel. This all leads up to WWE Network\u2019s \u201cClash of Champions\u201d<\/a> event on Sunday, September 15, available through a 30-day free subscription on the Xbox app (new subscribers only).<\/p>\n

To unlock Batista, simply play any version of Gears 5<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (including with your Xbox Game Pass membership) beginning September 15. The promotion ends October 28.<\/p>\n

Gears 5<\/a> launches on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC on September 6 for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members; September 10 for Xbox Game Pass members.
