This followed with sites such as Play-Asia opening pre-orders for a physical release. Despite looking increasingly likely, Square Enix has now confirmed via its <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jp.square-enix.com\/company\/ja\/news\/2019\/html\/e299a2cb98037818e29211870039c964.html\">Japanese website<\/a>, that the game will be digital-only. And here&#8217;s the news from Play-Asia (thanks to Nintendo Life reader Taylor for the tip):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We know you&#8217;ve been waiting patiently for the item Final Fantasy VIII Remastered. We have received information from our purchasing team and unfortunately, the item is a digital release only.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n<p>Perhaps this decision has something to do with the fact the digital release is taking place within less than a few weeks, on 3rd September. This date was locked in earlier this week and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/08\/final_fantasy_viii_remastered_arrives_on_switch_this_september\">revealed<\/a> within an official trailer (see above).
