The decision sees the ESPN broadcast planned for this weekend pushed into October, though the event will still be up on digital sources this weekend as planned.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not uncommon for media organizations to trim violent content&nbsp;from their schedules following tragedies like this. However, it is worth noting that this particular alteration comes as politicians in the United States have publicly blamed video games for fostering a culture of violence in discussions about&nbsp;these&nbsp;recent mass shootings.<\/p>\n<p>That includes comments from US President Donald Trump blaming video games for \u201cglorification of violence\u201d in society, despite&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/336824\/Oxford_study_finds_no_link_between_violent_video_games_and_teen_aggression.php\">studies<\/a> that have found no link between games and aggression as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/policy-and-politics\/2019\/8\/5\/20755092\/gun-shooting-video-game-chart\">no similar correlation<\/a> in other countries.<\/p>\n<p>As Bloomberg points out, members of the game industry have spoken out against that accusation as well, highlighting a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/amiller\/status\/1158140304941129728\">tweet from NRG Esports co-founder Andy Miller<\/a> that argues: \u201cBlaming video games is a \u2018look over there\u2019 move instead of a \u2018look at ourselves\u2019 reflection.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Walmart also told its staff to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/348414\/Walmart_tells_staff_to_pull_violent_game_ads_and_demos_but_guns_still_for_sale.php\">remove displays that feature gun violence<\/a> this week, including video game demos, advertisements, and events that \u201cpromote combat style or third-person shooter games\u201d as well as videos that feature guns in the context of hunting.
